Back when I was a kid, all the men in my family even played on the softball team here, so this place has a lot of history and memories for us. I finally stopped in again recently and the food absolutely delivered. The pizza, cheese curds, onion rings, and pretzels were exactly what I was looking for when it comes to good, satisfying bar food. Everything hit the spot, and the portions were solid. What makes it even better is that I live right around the corner, so I definitely see this becoming a regular spot for me. Me and my kids' mom are already planning on coming back for the meat raffles and bingo, and I might even start watching my games here, despite being a Chicago fan There's something special about a neighborhood bar that has been part of your family's history for years. This place is definitely a dive bar, no disputing that, but it is one of the cleanest, most homey feeling dive bars out there. To address some of the concerns listed in the first review, there is no mistaking that this is a military/veteran-friendly establishment. There is military memorabilia and decor on every table and wall, as well as in the bathrooms, and a giant POW flag hanging right by the door when you walk in. The first review also mentioned that the bar was full of locals, and that is correct -- nearly every seat at the bar was taken by folks who looked like they were regulars, but that's also kind of the point of a dive bar, isn't it? Despite not being regulars ourselves, we did not feel out of place or unwelcome. The bartender was also very friendly to us, and even came out to our table to serve us despite being busy at the bar. I was very offended because we did not offend and were not rude to anyone. I do not recommend this place if you're industry because of their unkindness. We visited 4/26/2025 for the NFL draft.
