Where I work, they have "Food Truck Fridays" in the summertime. I don't normally go outside for that since I don't like spending a lot on food and I prefer to treat myself for a Friday dinner, not a lunch. However, two years ago, I went to the food trucks and got Short North Bagel Deli. I had gotten the Good Ole Goodale and it was SOO GOOD that I thought about it for days afterwards. I even googled to see if there was a legit location instead of the food truck. Alas, it wasn't meant to be. The following summer, I was training for my first full marathon so no way I was able to eat any of the food truck fare during that summer. However, this summer I saw that Short North Bagel Deli was back in our parking lot! Even though I had packed my lunch, I knew I wanted to re-experience the Good Ole Goodale! It was pretty much as good as I remembered it. Delicious turkey, flavorful havarti cheese and ooey gooey cream cheese and avocado pouring out the sides (warning...this sandwich is MESSY!). They allow you to pick your bagel type (white, wheat or everything). I opted for white! Also, the staff is friendly and the chips are only $1! I got the Miss Vickie's salt & vinegar. Yum! Reasonably priced as well ($8 for the bagel and chips). I do wish this food truck had an actual location. I find it odd that it's called Short North Bagel Deli when it's not technically located in the Short North. Overall, I definitely enjoyed and it will remain one of my fave food trucks! read more

Short North Bagel Deli is a good food truck. It has a simple menu. There's mostly bagels of course and some sides. It also has build your own options. The service is pretty fast most times. I got the bagel with most of the vegetables. It's about $5 for one bagel. The sides of potato chips aren't that special. It was overall a good bagel. The actual bagel was fluffy and warm. It's a steamed bagel so it's different than the hard ones you usually get. This one was much better. Inside the mustard and vegetables were fresh. This is also a popular truck so expect a line. I would get something from here again. The truck is often around the OSU campus on Ackerman. When you want a bagel the next time you should go there. read more

Einstein, I now know just how you felt. The moment I first heard the foreign but seductive phrase "steamed bagel sandwich" it was clear I was on the brink of a crucial discovery. Layers of lusciously melting fillings between softened Block's bagels for just six bucks?! It seems improbable, yet the science is sound. I don't remember Beekman's Bagels, but intrepid entrepreneur Jeremy Fox does. He correctly determined that Columbus was missing a critical element after its closing, and decided to right this terrible wrong. By serving the best damn sandwiches in this city from a tiny but capable cart, he turns crowds into converts with every stop on his righteous culinary crusade. I walked an hour into downtown for my first taste of "The Good Ole Goodale", and I'd do it again. I peeled back the foil and opened my mouth, and the flavors hit me like a hurricane. Warm avocado, gooey colby-jack, mild turkey and a messy triumph of cream cheese, honey mustard and veggies. Napkins are required for this one, but you'll still lick the aftermath off your fingers. It's one of the best meals I've had in my life, EVER. Later I tracked the cart to a rainy Art Fair, just for seconds, and opted for a breakfast sandwich on an "everything" bagel. My first experience had been rapture, this was more like sin. The "Friend of the Devil" is a friend of mine (and yours): piles of ham, three slices of crispy bacon, and a molten mix of sharp cheddar and American cheeses. The bread yielded beautifully, and each bite had a mix of sesame and poppy seeds. I have my eye on the "Erin Marie" now, a vegetarian creation sweetly named after his sister. There is no room for improvement, this place is the pinnacle of perfection. Customer service is tops, this man stands in the rain and smiles at each patron like the host of a steakhouse. In general, I am a fan of the food truck movement. This wonderful bagel truck is no exception. Before our wonderful Yelp Helps event I decided I should get something more substantial to eat. Christina had given us the heads up about the carts, so I was excited to try them, honestly, I wish I could have tried them all! I decided to go for a Short North bagel, since they had a very good veggie option. It was the Erin Marie, veggie cream cheese, smoked cheddar, avocado, lettuce, tomato, sprouts and mustard. It took about 3-5 minutes for him to make it up for me. The steam might have bothered me, but it was a chilly night so I loved it. This was the BEST bagel I've had, ever. I was worried it might seem chewy because of the steam, but it wasn't! It was very soft, warm and delicious. The smoked cheddar was amazing, it had a very full strong flavor. I didn't notice the avocado as much as I would have liked, but there was a lot going on. This is absolutely a food truck must in Columbus! read more

I had a chance to try the Short North Bagel Deli today over at OSU East. There's not a whole lot more in life that I like more than bagel sandwiches. My girlfriend has been raving about this place for months, because they always come to her work, so I had to finally give it a shot. The menu is pretty small, so there's not a whole lot to debate about. You can put together your own sandwich, but I chose to go with one of the signature onces (the Red, White, and Boooom!), and it was pretty tasty. The steamed bagel was amazing with the cream cheese. It was so soft and delicious! The sandwich also had roast beef, banana peppers, pepper jack cheese, and onions. I thought the combination was a little strange, and I do wish the meat was a little higher quality, but it was a good lunch nonetheless. They do offer some chips and soda, but other than that, this place is strictly bagels or bagel sandwiches, and at a cheap price of $6 for the most expensive sandwiches! They use Block's bagels, which is awesome as well. If they're in the neighborhood again, I'd definitely swing back over. read more

This was honestly one of the best sandwiches of my life. I've eaten plenty of bagel sandwiches in my time, but something about this particular bagel sandwich made the magic happen. Was it the excellent bagel from Block's? Was it the fact that the sandwich was steamed, softening the bagel and melting the cream cheese? Was it the obviously fresh and high-quality ingredients? Was it the friendly owner's neon-green tye-dye momentarily dazzling my senses? I may never know. What you should know, however, is that this is a new (and impressive) food cart that (despite the name) can currently be found in the Short North, Clintonville, and Downtown depending on the time and time of day (see http://shortnorthbageldeli.com/locations/). You should also know that the particular sandwich I got was the $6 Good Ole Goodale, which has Turkey, Cream Cheese, Tomato, Colby, Avocado, Lettuce, Sprouts, and Honey Mustard on your choice of bagel. I should probably also mention that the Goodale is kind of messy, and, if you are like me, you will probably devor it in a primal and predatory manner that will result in it being all over your face. Remember Beekman's on campus? This is pretty much Beekman's on wheels. Steamed bagel sandwiches are about a thousand times better than their oven-heated counterparts, and if you try them you'll understand why. They get all soft and melty and delicious and I'm sort of thinking about driving back to get another one even as I type this. The menu isn't huge, but his creations are good, and if you want something changed out apparently it isn't a problem since I got provolone instead of swiss and he was all smiles about it. A lot of food trucks come by the office I work at, and most times they have some sense of what customer service is. Today I received an email that Short North Bagel Deli was here and since I'd never tried them, I went down. Upon arriving the guy was sitting in his car on his phone, and apparently quite bothered by my interruption. I asked two questions: 1-Do you toast your bagels? 2-Do you have blueberry bagels? He responded no to both and instructed me to read their menu on their cart. As a first time customer I opted to just walk away and cross them off my list of food trucks to try. I believe that courtesy and customer service should be part of the culture of any business, even a food truck business. read more

I ordered the #1 with turkey, cream cheese, lettuce, avocado on an everything bagel for $7, and thought it was very good and filling. Stopped by here on their regular Dublin trip and was not disappointed. Smallish menu of sandwiches, but all sounded tasty. My friend and I got the Renny (ham and cheese) and the Rubenstein (Reuben) and split them. The bagels were soft enough that the sandwich didnt completely explode when you bite into it and the ingredients were fresh and tasty. Super nice guy and a nice little operation. I found SNBD at Comfest while I was looking for Spinelli's and decided to give them a try since I have had a Turkey Joe a few times before. You know, I like to change things up. I had heard only good things about SNBD and I was excited. Plus, the sammies are only $5. Their menu is really appealing. Each sammie combo sounds like a good choice. I went with the #1 (I think). Turkey with cheddar and honey mustard with avocado, tomato, and lettuce on a plain bagel. Well, on the plus side, service was friendly and fast. The bagel was hot, steamy, and melty. What's my problem with them then? Well, primarily, it was the poor quality deli meat that made the sandwich disgusting! I'd recommend they get their meat from carfagna's or boar's head, raise their price 50 cents, and stop buying the $4.00/lbs nitrate filled chopped up turkey bits loaf. When you steam that stuff, it gets so nasty and slimy. Second, the overall flavor of the sandwich was bland. 50% from the crappy meat, 50% from lack of seasoning (salt & pepper usually works great). Third, maybe I don't understand steams sandwiches, but are you supposed to steam them with the lettuce already on? It makes the lettuce wilty, warm, and wet (not helping things). I was just hugely disappointed. Although, I would gladly order a steamed bagel with cream cheese. It was a great quality bagel! read more

Best damn bagel sandwich in the land. Seriously, amazing. I couldn't even argue with prices bc its that good, I tried the veggie sandwich and and breakfast one, and its so good. Maybe its the steam, maybe its the fresh bagels, or he fresh produce?? I dont know but its something magical, I wake up trying to figure out if I can stop and get one before work (and its no where in my route). I love this place. They provide breakfast sandwiches at my work and there is no better way to recover from a late night than Short North Bagel Deli. They are just consistently awesome. I have no had a "bland" experience and used to go there every day for lunch! I always feel perfectly full and it doesn't make me crash because they will "thin out" the bagel so I don't overload on carbs. On top of the fantastic food, the customer service is top notch. Best sandwiches! If nothing else, try them when you have the worst hangover. May I suggest the Morning Glory (breakfast) on a plain thin bagel. read more

This cart now has a guest spot in the cafeteria in the Nationwide Plaza One building for breakfast. I hope he sticks around. Bagels are excellent, and the sandwiches are fantastic. I always get the Black Hole (scrambled eggs, ham, swiss, jalapenos) and it has quickly become my go-to breakfast. Great food and the owner is super friendly! read more

Started following the food truck lunch patterns and with my office being off High north of 270 I am glad to see food trucks frequenting the Polaris/Westerville area, specifically the Chase building at 1000 Polaris Parkway, where I do not work but am 10 minutes away. Tried my first bagel sammie here, specifically the Red, White and Boooom!-roast beef, cream cheese, banana peppers, pepper jack and onions with an added tomato and lettuce on an everything bagel. Delicious. Soft, steamed bun with melted cheeses and fresh ingredients make this cart a sought out lunch addition. One con was it had some topping on it I did not request, guac and sprouts, which were fine since I luckily like them. One of the best things is his calendar on his site-up to date. One of the trickiest things about these trucks and carts is even though there are Twitter and Facebook pages alongside sites trying to inform us of where they are, a lot of times they don't do a very good job at it. All the trucks need to do a better job advertising themselves. I digress. Get to this cart pronto! read more

As a alumni of OU I really miss a few things from Athens......especially bagel street deli! Then one day Short North Bagel Deli comes to my work and I am instantly taken back to my college days. I get so excited when I see them on the schedule to come to our office, so much so that I was devastated to find out they would be coming the day after my planned c section! But to my complete delight one of my wonderful co-workers brought it to me at the hospital post baby!!!! That was probably the best one I have had. I always get the Good ole Goodale on an everything bagel. The bagels are great quality and the mix of ingredients on this sandwich couldn't be paired any better!
