Amazing! I came when they first opened and I absolutely loved it. Probably one of my top omakase experiences so far. It's so cozy and intimate and the service was great. The food itself was wonderful! I thought the omakase feature very unique flavors. Super happy about it and would definitely recommend

Food was little too hyped up not like the best. The place was smaller than I thought. I would recommend Bar sitting instead of Tatami room. Overall it was alright.

As a Lower Manhattan local, Shoshin 68 has become one of my favorite omakase spots. Chef Yee and his team provide exceptional care and attention, creating a welcoming and personalized experience for every guest. The quality and presentation of each unique piece of nigiri are truly top-tier, every course feels and tastes beautifully executed. Whenever friends ask me for an omakase recommendation, I send them to Shoshin 68 without hesitation.

Food, service and ambiance was great, intimate and good value. My partner and I had fun interacting with the chef and were pleased with the variety of fish and preparation. I only recently discovered this place so I hope more people enjoy what we did! Also bring Labubus because they only have one in their collection and they're looking to expand, say Jesse said it

    Labubu decor :) Chef's playground.

People, you don't know what you are missing. This place! Omakase for under $100 in SoHo. 16 course menu where the chef guides you through a special culinary experience. Small and intimate. Recommend coming Halloween night to enjoy the show.

I came here the other day and had a great experience! The staff were super nice and even though we arrived earlier than our reservation time, they accomodated seating us right away. They served us complemntary green tea and pickled radishes. The server was very attentive and filled back up everyones tea. The bathroom was also super nice, fancy, and clean! We got the basic menu set which was 12 courses. For an appetizer we got toro tartare which was flavored so well and came with a crispy chip on top that we were supposed to break and mix into the tartare. Every nigiri piece came with a really big piece of fish. At other omakase places I can usually fit the whole piece easily in my mouth but with these I was really stuffing my mouth. The larger portion of fish on top of each nigiri made the entire meal really filling and I was suprised to actually feel full afterwards. The nigiri tasted pretty fresh and the chef dressed the pieces in really unique, yummy ways. For example, pieces came with toppings like pickled wasabi, turffle nori puree, ponzu radish, and so on. After our meal, the chef gave us all some complemetary crispy salmon on the house which was seasoned well. I also came here to celebrate my birthday and they prepared a little card as well as 2 pieces of vanilla ice cream mochi plus a song on the house which was really nice of them!! Overall, the staff was very friendly and the meal was fresh and filling. Would definately recommend coming here!!

Chef Yee is THE BEST!!!!! Absolutely love it here and actually think this is the best omakase out there. It's not "just a sushi restaurant" and really has a wonderful menu and flow of set courses that are unique from other omakase spots. I've known the chef since he worked at another omakase spot and was elated when I learned he was opening his own spot and it's even better than I could have imagined. Also after having attended the incredible grand opening, it's only gotten better. He also made me and my group his special salmon and Parmesan off menu piece which blew my mind. IYKYK!!!! The BYOB is also a huge value add (especially as someone who loves wine). Very much a spot for local regulars which shows how well regarded it is, and the team treats everyone so nicely. Definitely sit at the bar - you get the full experience up close and personally. Not sure the deal with the review from the guy who seemed upset about his experience but do not listen to his review - you will love it! Don't even think about going to other omakase spots, this is the one. I absolutely cannot wait to come back!

Lots of under $100 omakases opening up across the city and this one is a gem of a find. $68 for 12 courses is such a great deal. We sat at the counter and the chefs were very friendly and service was great. They have a seasonal menu as well. At the moment they don't have a liquor license but they said it's coming soon. The fish is fresh and presentation was clean. If a no frills, just good sushi omakase is what you're looking for, def give this place a try.

We made a reservation in advance and arrived at Shoshin68 just as the omakase experience for our time slot began. The space is compact, with one long serving bar and two dining tables, which made the atmosphere feel intimate. We were seated at the bar near the window and served 12 courses of excellent nigiri and hand rolls. Since we booked through Pulsd, we also received unlimited green tea and house-made pickles. Two sushi chefs prepared everything with skill and personality, sharing stories about the restaurant along the way. It's a great spot for a date or a night out with a close friend.

Chef Yee was amazing! Every dish he served was delicious. He was also very personable and made us feel at home. Not only was the food excellent but also a great price of $68 for 12 courses! I'm from LA and you'll never find an Omakase of that caliber anywhere close to that price. If I ever find myself in NYC again I'm definitely paying Chef Yee another visit.

Wanted to come in here on a previous date, but it didn't work out for me, so after looking at them online for a while, we came now to celebrate a personal milestone! The omakase was delicious, a lot of different flavors in every bite, and the pickled radish was a great cleanser between courses. It was a friendly and intimate environment - we loved talking to the chef about life and learning a bit more about sushi. Definitely worth the price and will be back! Highly recommend.

We're in New York for a business trip and stumbled upon this new spot in Soho, which just opened a week ago. We were absolutely amazed by how incredible the experience was definitely one of the best omakase I've ever had in the city. If you get the chance, definitely give it a try! Each course was a work of art, It truly feels like a hidden gem that won't stay hidden for long.

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

Now, having said that although the food was decent, there were a couple of questionable choices in the overall presentation and plating and the sauces that accompany the black cod bento box I ordered, which did not actually come in a box. Everything is brought out piecemeal so you don't get an actual meal before you, but a lot of little plates brought out at different times, kinda like the Japanese equivalent of Tapas. We have been to this location twice, hoping the first time was a fluke, and trying to give them a chance only for the second time to be worse. The waitstaff is entirely disengaged from the customers. They rush you through the order process and don't explain any of the menu offerings, such as what is the difference between the different platter options. When they do come over, you are greeted with the sweetness and warmth of an unemotionally flat "What do you want?" After you get your food, no one comes over to refill water and cups are initially filled halfway with too much ice. No one comes over to remove plates afterward, and they definitely show no interest in finding out if you are enjoying your meal in the least. The booth we were sat at had not been cleaned after the last party's use so there was sauce all over, and it got on the back of my pants, which I later discovered while walking home...the joy. After eating comes the best part, they come over with these tablets outlining your check on the screen. Meanwhile, the tablets are strapped to their bodies the entire time. They don't allow you to scrutinize the charges in peace, no, they stand there impatiently for the duration either swerving from side to side of tapping their foot signaling discomfort that you're taking way too long. The funny part is the straps have clips to remove the tablets so it's not like it's impossible to leave the tablet and come back shortly. The whole process feels very rushed and pressurized for you to tip with one of the predetermined button selections, which start at 25%. Ummm, service sucked so no, we're definitely NOT starting there. I guess now we're both disappointed. Eventually, you get no paper receipt for your records even if you ask for it to be printed. And the whole time, the waitstaff is with you judging you on your tipping and not even being graceful enough to restrain their reaction. So no, not going back, and definitely would not recommend as a place to have a good time. Now, if you're looking for an uncomfortable experience served by someone that completely ignores you during your entire time there and expects an exorbitant tip to boot, then yes, this is the place for you!

Do of course I use Yelp to find something that catches my eye close by where we need to be. I found umami Sushi. We usually can't go wrong with Japanese food or sushi. We had no problems finding the place. The description said it was a small restaurant and as we entered the dining area was very small. Our hotel room was probably bigger. That doesn't bother me especially if we get there, there tables for us to sit comfortably. I also trust my judgment when I find a place that seems to be popular by the locals. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. We were the only ones there, but for some reason we bring good vibes to the places we eat because not too long after we placed our order, people started coming in, to the point that the small dining room was packed. I love Omakase style Service and what we ordered was a sashimi/sushi platter for three and two special rolls. I thought I got to choose the rolls but even that was chefs choice. I was just a bit worried that they would give us the cheap rolls like spicy tuna or California roll. The platter came out and it was beautifully prepared with a piece of sashimi for each of us and the rolls the chefs chose, ended up being two of my favorite rolls. The types of fish they selected were also great quality fish. We were lucky to have placed our order before the crowd came in our we might have had to wait a while because how they prepared it would have taken some time. The service was just right. Because they got busy right away, the waitress was forced to attend to everyone and couldn't really socialize with us. In fact when we finished our platter we were debating what we wanted for dessert but the waitress didn't even ask us and instead she just brought us the bill, so we said to ourselves, "I guess we're not having dessert here." So we paid the bill and gave an opportunity for someone else to take our table.
