    Spicy toro maki roll 10/10
    Tien N.

I came to Dodoma with my coworker on a Tuesday evening for dinner and it was so delicious! He started out with a complementary pumpkin soup and a little sake glass, which we thought was very flavorful and also so adorable! For dinner we ordered the roasted cauliflower à la carte dish to share along with the hot udon w. Washu beef. The udon was so flavorful and the noodles were so chewy. The sauce served with roasted cauliflower was delicious. We also shared this spicy toro maki roll which was absolutely amazing! Really enjoyed it. My coworker ordered a couple hand rolls for herself and I ordered the fatty tuna and yellow tail with lime pepper Nigiri. The fish was very fresh and the wasabi & ginger was SO GOOD. I mean not store bought at all. It tasted very fresh. Everything came out so timely. We both really appreciated the attentiveness and the service that was provided during our dinner. Our meal was about $112 with all of those dishes without beverage. Would definitely recommend and will likely come back soon!

I did the omakase here and had a great experience! Cute place, was able to walk in on Friday at 6 pm. Service was great everything came out very quickly! I got a lychee martini to drink which was great! They give you a welcome bite, be careful it has a ton of cinnamon on it! Overall the omakase was good! The nigiri was great! It is a ton of food so be hungry! The miso black cod had great flavor but mine was slightly hard. The crab handroll was also an additional fee that was not mentioned and this was not great. I would like to go back and do a regular dinner!

Ordered: Sushi and handroll course, Wagyu udon, and hojicha tiramisu Highlights: everything was great, but the udon and tiramisu were my favorites. The broth was the perfect anoint of richness (I'm still thinking about it) and the tiramisu wasn't a traditional tiramisu but it was delicious. Notes: we ordered the set and split it between the two of us. There was one piece that had banana which I've never heard of but delicious and worth a try! Service was great and vibes were good. When walking there though, just note that it's to the right of their delivery entrance!

Haven't been to this restaurant since Covid and I was pleasantly surprised at how well maintained and excellent the restaurant remains. Coconut Shrimp Tempura: loved the mango salsa you put on top of the rolls Salmon Avocado: creative apple onion sauce - doesn't taste like onion at all, more like an apple type mayo - tastes a lot better than it sounds Spicy Toro: average spicy toro roll not very memorable can skip Korean fried chicken: amazing - big portion with little daikon bits. The dough was crispy and chicken really juicy. Black miso cod: another just average dish

Great time at Domo Domo! I did the omakase experience and loved it! The sushi was done so well. My favorite was the hand roll but everything else was so delicious. Our server was great and attentive to us and the place is just so cool. It doesn't feel like it's in New York, but still very fitting. I highly recommend

For those of you who want to have a variety of seafood dishes to try, but also want to choose a table seat to scrutinize the chef's art or sit a bit away and enjoy the company of your friends- this is the place to check out. Every dish was carefully curated and I loved the variety to choose from. The ambience is in flux ( it can be either more upscale if you're sitting with the chef or casual if you're sitting at your own table ) and is a great place to enjoy a night out or celebrate a special moment. Highly recommend trying this place out !

Family of 5 came after a nearby restaurant was packed. Domodomo is a Michelin starred place that lived up to their reputation. Service were nice and dishes were delicious. We ordered the Korean chicken pop, Katsu Sando, coconut shrimp tempura, sushi & hand roll course, and uni pasta. My favorite was the katsu sando as it was juicy and onions were caramelized to perfection. The Korean chicken pop were also a fan favorite with little pickled radishes to counteract the meat. If we ignore the high price point, everything was nicely flavored and great!

TLDR: sushi was phenomenal, hand rolls are OK, service is subpar. We went with a group of 3 on a Saturday night. Had a reservation but check in was chaos and there was nowhere to stand because it was freezing outside. We checked in and people who checked in after us (same reservation time and party size) were getting seated before us. Finally got a table and someone asked us water preference immediately but we didn't have a server come over for close to 15 minutes. They don't leave you with extra water or soy sauce and it's a chore to flag them down and get it. Our drinks came out after food was set down and we had one appetizer that just never showed up and our server didn't notice. It was corrected pretty quickly after we pointed it out. The spicy salmon tuna comes are a little bite of heaven. Feels like a miss that our server wasn't recommending that out the gate. Chefs selection sushi was incredible and this would be the only reason i would come back here. Handrolls are OK but nothing special compared to some of the other stars in NYC. They seemed eager to get us out as we were the later seating but we also had to wait to pay. Price point is good for what you get but I would rather pay more and have better service.

We did the 4 course menu and got 2 rounds of nigiri, one round of sashimi and another round of hand rolls. I picked lobster and black cod and my friend did lobster and wagyu beef hand roll. The nigiri was fantastic, the fish was fresh and delish. The black cod hand roll was good but not great. The overall ambience is nice and had a very calming vibes. We had a reservation and were seated promptly but also our server was amazing. Overall a good place. Unsure if I'd come back again.

My NYC summer has been dominated by some amazing meals and an impromptu dinner at Domodomo just shot up to the top of best recent meals list. Omakase restaurants have yet to disappoint me in general but what stood out with Domodomo was their inventiveness. Eggplant katsu with ricotta sauce may sound weird but it was delicious, as was butterfish with pickled banana. Really loved the black cod hand rolls too. Service was on point and I left extremely satisfied.

I came here on a last minute reservation with a friend on a weekday. The ambiance here is warm and welcoming. Service is great! The food is decent! I wasn't sure what I was going to expect but it was good! We definitely ordered too much food, as I thought the sushi/handroll set wouldn't be enough food, but will say we were struggling to the end! The hamachi crudo was delicious! The sushi quality was decent to say! I don't think I had any expectations set in place, but will say I wouldn't mind coming back sometimes.

Good and moderately priced sushi on Houston Street. The vibe is livelier than you would expect at a sushi place and the service is fine. Most importantly, the quality of the fish is very good.

Loved this place ! The ambiance is relatively calming with a modern flare. The food is relatively well priced while maintaining the Michelin Star title. We got a package for $49, such a steal. Everything was delicious. I will say we made our reservation at 8:30. As the entire staff was leaving, it seemed as though they forgot about my table. It took a while to pay but I can understand it was the end of their shift. Overall a pretty wonderful place to eat

Ask the Community - DOMODOMO - New York

Can you walk in or do you need a reservation?

You can try but it's almost impossible to get a table without a reservation. I would highly recommend getting a reservation ahead of time through Resy.

    Are there gluten free options?

Do they serve the regular menu at the indoor oyster bar?

Yes! There's a QR code for you to scan and you can order anything from the menu even if you're seated at the oyster bar

For 3 is indoor or outdoor a nicer experience?

Definitely indoor! Interior is really nicely decorated. Outdoor, while nice vs. other restaurants, is still in a nice shack.

    Is BYOB allowed?

    Indont think so

Looking at their takeout menu. Whats the difference between the "premium" sushi versus regular sushi omakase?

Thank you for your interest in our menu. Premium sushi includes delicacies like uni, wagyu, madai, botan ebi, etc., whereas our regular sushi includes more familar classics like blue fin tuna, king salmon, hirame, etc. Hope this helps! Thank you

Hi, how much time does it take to do the Omakase? thanks

1-3 hours! It's pretty fast, but they don't kick you out when you're done

About how long does dinner take if you do the domokase?

    1-1.5 hour

How much for Omakase and how is it?

There's two options. The premium Domokase is $85 and the regular omakase is $55. Both portions comes with +$10 for uni with saggy hand roll. It's worth it!!!!

    Is this a BYOB place?

    No, they have a bar.

How much is a corkage fee?

We bought a bottle in the restaurant so I’m not sure what they would charge if you brought your own bottle.

Where is the best place to sit to get the full experience, we are 2 people?? Thanks!

They have two sushi counters for bar seating. Either sushi counter will be great. Get the domokase or any of the omakase.

Do they serve the Domokase at lunchtime?

According to the menu on their website they do NOT.

    It this a no-tipping restaurant?

No it is not, you still should tip.

If two people go, can one get omakase and one get the sushi set? (Or do both have to order the omakase if one is getting it?)

Yes, you can do one omakase and another off the menu, and you can also order from the menu on top of it.

Which credit cards do they accept?

Visa for sure. Unclear about the other ones.

    Is it byob?

    No BYOB

How much is their Omakase (they call it Domokase)? Looking to try it for dinner.

I checked their site recently and it's up to $80 now.

Does anyone know if they're still doing lunch? I dropped by today around 1PM but the restaurant was closed.

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.
