There was pretty much no wait for the appetizer to come but they were pretty underwhelming. The portion for the madai sashimi was very small and the somen noodle didn't taste very special. The entree was better. The sushi and sashimi tasted pretty fresh and the Wagyu melted in my mouth. We just weren't a big fan of the roll in the sushi and sashimi set because it tasted very American and not very authentic. The restaurant week menu came with dessert but we decided to order the parfait. The restaurant week menu desserts were only okay but the parfait was really good. It was expensive but I can see all the thoughts and efforts that went into making the parfait and I think it was worth the price. Overall, my experience here was okay. We tried the Restaurant Week menu ($60/person), which isn't a bad price if the food is good, but it missed the mark. Somen noodle (4/10): Nothing special. Just a cold dish. Edamame potage (3/10): The first bite was just weird. It got a little better after a few more bites, but my friend didn't like it at all. Madai sashimi (7/10): The best of all the appetizers on the Restaurant Week menu. Sanshoku bread (1/10): I paid an extra $15 to try this. Big mistake. I didn't even know what I was eating, and I really disliked it. It felt like a total waste of money, and my friends all felt the same way. Bento box (5/10): It looks nice, but only the sashimi in the entire box is worth mentioning. The salad was fresh too, but that's about it. I saw a Tiktok of this Japanese spot in SoHo and had to check it out. I came for their brunch and it was a pleasant experience. While I'm not sure if it's a great space for big groups as the dining space is narrow, I think it's great for brunches and maybe even dates. Service was good. We got their Momoya box of sashimi and their souffle pancakes. Both were so good. While I thought the uni in their Momoya box wasn't very good quality (super briny and color was dark), the rest of the box was good. Each bowl came with some rice. Cute brunch! I got the natsu natsu pancake which was so aesthetic and unique. There's a layer of passionfruit flavored mochi on top. There's pistachio bits in the pancake and cream drizzle. I recommend sitting on the first floor because that's where the restroom is and there's just more lighting! For the table, we shared a dozen Kumamoto oysters and they were $72, which is $6 per oyster.. They were good but so so small. I don't think it's worth the price. Also FYI--- if you bring a cake, they charge $5 per person for cake fee to cut and serve at the table. So be prepared for that if you're celebrating something and you bring a cake. In an ultra-competitive restaurant scene such as New York, Momoya SoHo has proven that it consistently offers high quality food that is reasonably priced in a neighborhood well known to tourists from across the continents. This was our family's second visit to Momoya SoHo and I am glad to confirm that the high quality of food was as consistent as our last visit. The sushi and sashimi here were fresh and reasonably priced here. I opted for the chirashi bowl and savored each bite of the thick cuts of fresh sashimi. I am usually not a fan of uni because I dislike the strong aftertaste; however, no complaints from me this time as I enjoyed the bites of uni with the rice. Moreover, the portion was generous here and the bowl really filled me up. My wife had the Momoya Gozen, which was a sampler of various dishes including tempura, cold soba noodle, sliced A5 wagyu steak on rice, etc. The execution of each dish was flawlessly: the wagyu beef was flavorful and tender, the tempura was crispy without being greasy, and the chawanmushi was nice and delicate. Our boys got sushi and sashimi combos and the rolls they got: salmon skin and yellowtail with scallion were just as good as the sushi and sashimi. For dessert, we opted for the more lowkey option of Mille Feuille Aux Banana. The dish exceeded my expectations with the crispy layers of puff pastry and the full-bodied caramelized banana cream, further contrasted against the hojicha rum raisin ice cream. The service was overall nice and attentive despite how busy the first round of service was on the weekend afternoon we visited. We arrived here as our last resource without reservation and were sat immediately, a relieve after trying to find a table for three around the area without reservation and being told to wait 1 to 2 hours. We tried their fried calamari, some rolls and drinks, my coke was flat the server took it away and removed from the bill, I ordered the lychee martini instead and it was delicious. We had some rolls too, and their famous crispy salmon, everything was phenomenal. The vibes were chill and they loved that we never felt rushed, every dish came at the perfect time, they gave us time enough to enjoy each one of them start to finish, appetizer done, 1 minute later next dish, they did not crowded our table with food but phased it properly.
