The most impressive thing about Show Bar is just how remarkably friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful ALL staff are! The doorman was particularly so. I arrived early for a VIP pre-show event, and he explained the entire process, and kept me updated as things progressed. The bartenders were amazing as well. I opted for a burger and fries, based on the recommendation of the bartender taking my order, and it was far better than expected. The only issue with it was the almost 40 minutes it took to get it to me (the place was pretty much empty, with only one other table before me when I ordered it). The I got later in the evening was also better than expected. Very thick crust, and nice flavor. The establishment has the sort of historical charm that McMenamins establishments are known for, but it was clean and well-maintained. Definitely stop in for food or drinks, and to receive some great service by the staff. read more

This place was such an awesome, surprise find! Walking by from a distance, it looks like a typical high school, but we noticed umbrellas on the roof and decided to investigate. Sure enough, this place is known for their burgers, roof top bar and is also a concert venue!! You can take the elevator up to the roof, or walk through the school, reminiscing about how good or bad those days were. They had standard bar drinks and some frozen, slushee drinks too! All of the bartenders and hostesses were very friendly and helpful. We didn't end up trying the food here but we did enjoy the beautiful evening weather and overcast sunset sky. We came here after seeing Kristen Key at Revolution Hall (Hilarious, BTW). It was almost 10 pm, so it was nice to have a place to grab a quick bite and a beverage. The dining space was well appointed, which made it easy for me to get around as I use a walker, and this is rare. We ordered at the bar and sat at a booth. The table was sticky and we asked for a rag to clean it, with sheepish apologies from the bartender. This is the only reason I gave 4 stars. The bartender was friendly, energetic and helpful. Food came out fairly quickly. We ordered a cheeseburger and onion rings to split. We did not expect the burger to be so delicious. I am not sure what magic they use to make their sauces, but it made all the difference. And they make my favorite type of onion rings. Thick cut, crunchy beer-batter breading, but not greasy at all. Perfection. We didn't have any cocktails that night, although I did have their canned hard cider which was flavorful. From the looks of what other patrons ordered, their drinks were satisfying. On the back wall there was a large screen with a B movie playing Escape From New York, silently but with closed captioning. Having this playing added to the ambience, making it a comfortable place to kick back with friends. The bartender who took our orders was very cold, smug, and not welcoming. He wouldn't make eye contact and was not friendly. You pay top dollar for average food that you have to order by yourself at a kiosk, walk to the other side of the building to pick up your food when it's ready and you have to bus your own table. Be sure also the tip 25% for all this 'amazing' service. The ordering process has some kinks, I used the kiosk, never received a text for a simple order of fried raviolis. After 1 hour passed I went directly to the bar to ask find out if i missed the notification , I was told Id get a text when the order was ready. No one offered to check on it, they pretty much blew me off. After waiting another 20 minutes and seeing the 2 cooks not doing anything I approached them about my food. Dude hands me a bag full of cold fried reciolis, said it was ready 40 minutes ago, and walked away. No apology, nothing. The other cook mumbles something about making another batch, I took him up on his offer but decided it was probably better for me not to eat food made by either of them, I opted to ask for a refund. Yeah, that wasn't easy either. Instead of offering an apology or ask what had happened thee manager slithered to the POS and coldly insinuated I stole a show flyer from his restaurant and acted as though I didn't know how a restaurant kitchen works while fumbling to reverse charges made to my card. Almost one hour and a half had passed since ordering upstairs, I had made a point to order before the first band had finished their set so I could watch who I drove from Tacoma to see.By the time the food fiasco ended, I missed most of the show AND still had not eaten dinner. I now sit in the In N Out line, despite the 50 cars ahead of me I'm still going to get what I ordered in less than 18 minutes. I found it funny how the young man petting the dog and flirting with an even younger woman was apparently the doorman. He made us feel like we were interrupting something just to do his job. The bartender was a little peculiar but he actually did his job. My Pina Colada was batch made and very unpleasantly sweet but it gave me a buzz. A great spot if you're seeing a show at Revolution or just in the area. The monthly burger (August 2023) is a vegan chicken burger with spicy "Cheeto" dust on it. It's pretty fun and not too spicy. Good selection on tap. The view from the rooftop bar is the real prize here and offers a great spot to see the Portland skyline. I had been to Revolution Hall for a concert... Which I believe they have a great set up for but wanted to try out their food. I had a chance to meet a couple friends so figured we would check out Show Bar. The parking is either on the street or there is a area behind the building to park. Finding the entrance to the space was a little tough but finally found it. It's a cute little space with great light from the tall windows. You order food and drink at the bar and they give you the drink and a buzzer. When the buzzer goes off you go pick it up at a window down the hall. They feature pizza, burgers, sandwiches, salads and some appetizers. They do have a burger of the month and change it up. I ordered "the shredder" salad ($7) It contained Shredded iceberg lettuce, red cabbage, tomatoes, bacon, blue cheese & croutons with ranch dressing. And I also ordered onion rings ($5). My order was up really fast and when I dug into it unfortunately it was nothing special. The onion rings or pre-processed/frozen and over cooked. The salad was small... More like a side salad instead of an entrée. There are several other bars in the building because it's very large. It used to be Washington high school. This food is OK somebody's just grabbing a snack before a concert. read more

What an awesome place to hang out. The main bar is pretty chill. Great location, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and the drinks are made well. Servers are friendly, and very helpful. They know how to make drinks, even when you throw them a curveball. Food is pretty good, although a little spendy. Even though is tasted great, I definitely would eat somewhere else before coming back again Rooftop lounge is great as well. Amazing views of downtown, and plenty of seating there as well. Even have a rooftop bar, so you don't have to take the elevator back down to get drinks. Event space is intimate, and comfortable. Great space to see up and coming new musical artists. We had a blast! Only issue I see: no restrooms on rooftop. Kind of a bummer, so you have to be aware, as you either have to walk down 4 floors or wait for the elevator. read more

The food was incredible. I got the impossible burger and it was the best I have ever had, not dry! The kitchen staff was so receptive, the food was made with an allergy item (cabbage or though the menu said lettuce mix) and they kindly made me a new one without it. After waiting over 45 minute for a salad, my friend's buzzer never beeped. She double checked as it seems it was forgotten about (no big deal). Went here before a show for the first time looking forward to the burger. When I ordered it they told me they didn't have any buns. No problem, could I get it in a wrap? They said they could do it on a "bed of lettuce" and I said sure, let's do it. What arrived was barely passable for anything decent or interesting. It was a burger patty set atop a handful of cheap pre chopped salad mix, with some sauce on the side. That's it. No tomato, no pickle, just some sad lettuce. The worst part is that I was charged for the bun that wasn't actually there. So instead of charging me for a patty on some lettuce (which is what they served me), or spending a few extra dollars to instacart some buns to hold them over till their wholesale order arrived, they lost a customer and earned two stars on their Yelp review. We had a great time here. The reviews for the burgers are all true. They're are pretty good. And the option to swap for a Beyond Burger patty is a plus. Didn't like to onion rings. Was so disappointed in that. The Showbar stage was nice. Clean and classy with sit down tables and booths in the back. Tall tables in the front. The only downside I can think of is the layout. Great location and place to hang, but the bartender's actions made me lose all respect for show bar. I ordered a simple well drink and the bartender messed it up. I asked him to replace it with correct drink, he made the drink and then tried to charge me for it! And what's more, he charged even a dollar extra on top of normal price for no reason. Great spot when you are here for a show. They Air MNF and have a good beer list. Definitely get a burger. I love that it comes on a potato bun. The beef is fresh and locally sourced in oregon. I ordered the vegan version which was super meh and my partner had the pepperoni which was super greasy - he didn't finish it. More vegan options would be appreciated. Really mixed feelings about the experience in general. The food was a good price tho the selection was limited to begin with and was surprised that even at 6:00 when the show started at 7 that they were already out of items- pizza and chicken. The veggie burger and regular burger were tasty the onion rings just okay. The venue itself is small and intimate and the acoustics were okay- couldn't understand the singer when he was speaking. My issue is the limited amount of tables and chairs which left most people standing the entire show so hardly anyone but them or the people at high tables could see anything! The tables were arranged so weirdly whoever did that job didn't get the assignment. It will have to be someone really special to get me to return and even though I was one of the first inside, I know now that the only option is the tall tables. read more

My husband and I were passing by with our dogs and came across this place. We asked the guy explicitly at the front if our dogs were allowed on the rooftop patio and he said yes. He then allowed us to go up to the rooftop. We got up there, grabbed a table, got our drinks, and it wasn't until we asked for a bowl of water for our pups that they told us dogs were not allowed on the patio. They didn't allow us to finish our drinks, didn't comp us, or offer an apology. The manager gave a patronizing explanation as to how it was the law that dogs weren't allowed in food service areas as if it was our fault without acknowledging their mistake. Okay. I was at a place that used to be here over a year ago. Not a great experience. So tonight I had driven from Salem to see Ani DiFranco talk about her new book. I was peckish and I walked past this place to get some food. But the nearby wine tasting place told me this place was a new bar and new people and that it was good. So I came back to try. I arrived 30 minutes early. I'm an easy guy. Burger and any IPA on tap. Even though busy the beer came super fast. Then I waited. For a plain burger. Everyone else that ordered was told about the food times being high, but they didn't tell me. Perhaps I don't look like someone going to see Ani DiFranco. Perhaps they're busy. After 30 minutes I didn't want to be late. So I downed my beer and told the bartender to donate my burger to someone.m that was hungry. I didn't want to be late. They offered to give me my money back or bring it upstairs to me. I didn't want to eat next to people in a packed auditorium while listening to an interview. And I didn't want to be late. It's a burger that I'm missing and I'm choosing to let it go. Not the end of the world. I was less annoyed than I was by the terrible food I get whenever I give Archive another chance in Salem. Seriously, bad value there. Anyway. I go upstairs and enjoy the event. Big fan of Ani. Afterward I come back. I'm still hungry after all. I order any IPA and a burger. The only words I said to the bartender was "let's try this again" and ordered my stuff. Ate the burger. It was delicious. Bacon was perfect. Balanced char on the meat. Bread was just enough but not too much. And the fries. Seriously. These fries are meant to be eaten by two hands. You can't be suave and eat these fries. Too damn tasty to look cool. When I got the check, I wasn't charged for the burger. This is a different bartender than I had earlier. I don't even see the two bartenders that helped me earlier. I know I have a dog face, but seriously. I hope I don't stick out that much. I didn't want to cause a stink.l before. I just didn't want to be late and a $10 burger isn't the end of the world The vibe here is great. The music I had the perfect balance of bass but not that annoying high treble that some bars have where you can't hear anyone talk. They have an okay vegan burger for $7.00 (which is a steal in this neighborhood) and you can add small fries for about $2.50. My big issues were that their draft beers are $6.50. SIX FIFTY. But the burger is $7? How does that make sense? And, despite what this Yelp page says, they do not have wifi. I was trying to get some homework done and wanted a bite while I did it. This is a great bar with a great staff and excellent music, but it definitely does not live up to its potential. It is in the same building as Revolution Hall, so we went there to grab a bite to eat before the show. The menu sucks! It has one burger, then a few vegetarian dishes and a bunch of fried stuff. After commenting on the menu, one employee advised me that there was another restaurant in the building that served sandwiches and other food, "Martha's." We went there, and the menu was equally bad. Again, can't you get any meat in this building that isn't a burger? Where are the club sandwiches and lite dishes (that aren't vegetarian or vegan)? This place could be so much better. Where do I even start. My friend and I walked to the dog park from our home close by and didn't plan to get food. But we saw the place and thought it looked good. The girl at the front door was super rude and arguing with my friend and I saying we aren't allowed to come in and use the bathroom if we don't have ID. I didn't have my wallet with me since I just walked from home and I'm obviously not under 21 lol. I tried to explain the situation and that I don't even want alcohol, just to use the bathroom. She continued to argue with me even after we spent $30+ on food saying I still can't use the bathroom. On top of that, the bartender was rude to my friend when she didn't know where to pick up our food after the buzzer went off. Anywayssss, not coming back. A group of friends and I visited Show Bar this week. Several of our friends are BIPOC. When waiting to order at the bar, we were passed over multiple times. Waiters decided to help people that arrived at the bar after we did. When taking the order of our BIPOC friends, the staff turned around and walked to the other side of the bar - while our friends were trying to place their order. They did this to no other patrons. I expected more from the burger as it's meant to be local beef, however, it really tasted like a generic frozen patty with soggy shredded lettuce on top. The veggie burger was a black bean burger, which I preferred the taste of! Husband thought the whole thing was generally too much of the same consistency, and he's not a fussy one about food. The patio and interior are really beautiful and our service was great. We loved watching all the dogs play in the park as we ate our burgers and fries. I'd go back for the ambiance, but if I'm craving a good burger I'd head to the Sandy Hut instead. read more
