I had the trout which was melt in your mouth delicious and my husband loved the ribs. The vibe was so cool and Matthew strummed the guitar and sang beautifully throughout the meal. We missed the live music since we arrived so early to snag a seat (place fills quickly!) FOOD: Popcorn provided as a snack-- yum! We ordered the steak and ribs, which were both good. The steak was simply seasoned but cooked medium rare as requested and tender. The ribs were tender (not quite fall-off-the-bone but easy to eat) and the barbecue sauce was tasty with a bit of a kick. We could each choose two sides, so we chose soup (red pepper and Gouda, like a tasty spin on tomato soup) and loaded baked potato (well done!) for the steak, and mashed potatoes (served broccoli instead, but it's fine) and onion rings (tasty & crispy). Condiments including ketchup, A1 sauce and mayonnaise were all on the table for easy access. SERVICE: Very nice and attentive. OVERALL: Very good choice among the relatively limited options nearby. Much in demand restaurant in Tropic. We got there just at 6 and snagged the last table. The jack'd fries were really good, as was my tipsy hiker cocktail. The bacon chicken Alfredo, not so good. The star of the show was the deconstructed cinnamon fried ice cream. It was amazing. The place had a very nice rustic ambiance, and we really enjoyed the live music. Worth the short drive from Bryce. Great setting, nice menu, live music, free popcorn, good food and reasonable prices. It gets really busy, with families from the adjoining motel flocking hear. We ordered the brisket and roasted half chicken, with baked potatoes and slaw. The brisket was the least successful. The chicken was really good, perfectly cooked. The baked potatoes were large. Took a chance on Showdowns while choosing Bryce Canyon National Park and so glad we did! We arrived on the early side for dinner on thu evening, about 5:30, and immediately seated. By 6 or a little after, the place was full and purple were waiting. Service was prompt and efficient though hubby's coke order was forgotten until we could catch her eye to ask about it. She felt awful at forgetting and brought it out quickly. For food, I ordered the chicken entree with vegetables for both sides while hubby had the trout, also with vegetables. The chicken was the star, for sure. Perfectly cooked with nice flavor and seasoning. Hubby said the trout was good, if a little on the small side. The menu had a nice assortment of beverages including Utah brews and the desert menu sounded lovely but alas, we had no more room to even try one. My husband and I are on vacation exploring the Mighty Five National Parks in Utah, and we stayed at Bryce Canyon Inn which is lovely, spotless, and just a short walk away from everything. We popped into this restaurant for dinner, and wow... what a treat! I lean more vegetarian, while my husband eats anything, and we were both blown away. Hands down, the best vegan soup I've ever had after a long day of hiking, it hit me like my mom's homemade soup! The fried ravioli were incredible, perfectly crispy and flavorful. My husband tried the burger and declared it a solid 9/10. Pair it with some local beer, and you've got the perfect meal. The staff were welcoming and kind, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Thank you for a truly wonderful dinner--we'll be thinking about that soup for a long time! read more

Five stars for sure! Our family of 4 arrived at the perfect time so we had no wait but there were lots of folks waiting for a long time after us because this place is clearly so popular! Our waitress was lovely and offered recommendations, like trying the Jack Sauce! (We even got a bottle to go!) Can't go wrong with anything with that sauce on it. Ok so if you are in Bryce Canyon this is a must go for food, awesome entertainment and some of the best service!!!!. This was our night before we leave to travel back home dinner spot. I am so sad we waited for our last night to visit. We were treat to live entertainment. Some old time country favorites. Not only was the music great, this was on of the only places we been that had live entertainment and the volume was at a level where you could carry on a conversation. Kudos to Showdowns!!!! So for the food, I ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs with a loaded baked potato and stemmed vegi's. The ribs were what you would consider competition style. So one thing that stands out is when you take a bite that's all that comes off. The ribs were perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The baked potato was done like it should be done. Properly cooked and loaded. The vegi's were cooked perfectly. Not mush and not raw. They had a great bite to them. The restaurant isn't far off from Bryce Canyon. It's a bit hard to see, but it is located after the pedestrian bridge in the parking lot. Unfortunately, we were too early for the live music, so can't comment on that. The place was busy at 5:30, but service was prompt. They give you some delicious popcorn to start off. I had the bacon burger and it was the best burger I had in a while! The buns were brushed with butter or oil, the patty was tasty and cooked perfectly and the fried egg pops when you take the first bite (careful! ). I substituted fries with broccoli and they were lightly buttered. Note that they did not have any draft beers, but they did serve cans in a frosted glass. We arrived right when Showdowns opened and we were greeted and led to a booth. Our waitress, Elaina, was a friendly Joy! The fun popcorn was as good as movie theatre popcorn! I decided on a Strawberry Smash and husband had their lemonade. Both delicious. I ordered their 10oz steak medium cooked with a slight pink along with buttered garlic mashed potatoes and a good service of broccoli! I ate everything ! Got seated right away and immediately the hostess delivered a large bowl of popcorn and a pitched of water - the popcorn was a nice surprise! Waiter recommended the burgers do we got a couple of Bryce Canyon Sunrise burgers and a couple of Portabella mushroom burgers. The burgers were KILLER and I'd go back just for the burgers again, but there were several other menu items that looked great. After visiting Bryce, we were hungry and headed to Showdown's for dinner. We opted for outdoor seating as the music was kind of loud indoors, but we could hear it at just the right volume from outside. My daughter got the Southwest Pasta, which included a spicy creamy sauce, shrimp, and andouille sausage and was served with a delicious piece of garlic bread. I knew I'd end up eating some of her pasta, so I ordered a loaded baked potato which was perfectly filled with cheese, bacon, butter, and sour cream. We loved the complimentary popcorn that was brought to us while we waited for our food to arrive. Service was excellent and prices were about average. Drinks were great as well and I was happy to get to try some local brews. I would definitely return here or recommend it to anyone staying in tropic. read more

Love the live music and indoor/outdoor seating. Food was fabulous. Service was super friendly. Music wasn't too loud where you couldn't talk to your dinner mates. Picnic style tables so if you got a bad back try to get outdoor seating or the few booths they have. Their desserts are yummy and unique but with all that beauty of dessert they pair it with vanilla ice cream that tastes like big bucket psuedovanilla taste. They gotta spend a little extra and go with Tillamook or similar vanilla bean. It would pair so lovely with their wonderful desserts. Live music, guy singing playing guitar. Fire pit outside restaurant. Only downside - bathrooms are a short walk outside to separate building - no joke. Restaurant is located on a property with cabins, campground & motel. But considering there are only 3 -4 places to eat in Tropic, it's a good place. Rustic interior- some booths & the rest are picnic style tables. Not the best comfort but doable. read more

They brought her water and the wait staff was really good to her in a way that made our meal more relaxing and enjoyable! Showdown's Restaurant was like an oasis in the middle of canyons and desert. I was happy to see this quaint place after traveling through vast nothing-ness. Showdowns sits in between a resort area surrounded by one room studios. There's live music and a friendly wait staff. The menu was nothing great. Basic bar food but that was fine with us since we were hungry and needed a minute after traveling a treacherous stretch of road. My husband had a steak and salad which he said was good. I had chicken tenders and fries which were both over fried and super crispy. There were a great selection of state wide microbrews that shouldn't be overlooked. Last was a piece of lemon cello cheesecake that had a raspberry crumb topping. It was fair but filled the need for something sweet. Note that the bathrooms are not in the restaurant but up by the pool instead. A bit inconvenient but nothing outrageous. Theres a fire pit near the outdoor seating area at the restaurant. If you order the s'mores for dessert, they'll light the pit for you. Cozy and outdoorsy but food was mediocre. read more

We were in town for a couple of days to hike Bryce Canyon and decided to try this place recommended to us by front desk staff at Bryce Country Cabins where we lodged. It was a big fat WIN! The food was very good, the people are kind and the live music was fun and relaxing. I had a nice Squatters "Juicy" beer(based out of Salt Lake and it was wonderful!) with my burger. Absolutely loved this place. We hadn't had much luck finding a good place to eat near Bryce Canyon. We happened into this spot and I was a little hesitant when I saw they had live music. Too many troubadours seem to be paid by the decibel now adays and I don't enjoy getting blasted while trying to eat. I'm really glad we stayed. The food was good and the entertainment was excellent. Great choice of musical selections and anybody who includes some John Prine in their sets is OK by me. read more

They serve a few mocktails that my family loved. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Note: I loved the service. They give you cups and jugs of water for you to pour when you need it.
