I love this bar...restaurant rather. Nestled into the town of Tropic only a few miles from the entrance hoopla to Bryce you have much better options for dining. Showdowns is definitely one of the best. Wide open lawns with shady trees you step down into Showdowns restaurant. Great outdoor seating near thier fire pit and equally good seating at small comfortable picnic tables inside close to the very good but not overwhelming live music. Very friendly waitresses are ready to take your order from a wide variety of options from steaks, to trout to barbeque with salads and soups for lighter fare. While they had a good number of local beers we opted for diet cokes. The wife had red pepper gouda soup and grilled cheese sandwich while I opted for the ribs with coleslaw and Jacked fries. The soup was marvelous in flavor and body. The sandwich on a very fresh foccasia bread with pesto and grilled cheese. Excellent. My ribs came with four bones seared perfectly, a freh greens Coleslaw and the fries with melted cheese and Jack Daniel's sauce. Amazing. While the fries could have been hotter and a normal half rack is 5 to six bones, I was completely satisfied by the flavors and textures. Terrific. We finished the Neal with a flour less cake with raspberry sauce and vanilla ice cream. More than enough for two. When seated you get a bowl of fresh popcorn and all smiles from the Excellent waitstaff. Plenty of parking in a beautiful relaxing setting. Highly recommended! read more

Tropic is a very small town and we are pleasantly surprised to find this gem! The parking is pretty easy and we love their popcorn appetizer, also the mocktails are yummy! The waitstaff are very friendly and their services are quick. And we really enjoyed the live country music in the indoor dining area. We had a long drive to Bryce Canyon and found this place online on our way to our hotel. What a fantastic find! The food was terrific. I had the trout which was melt in your mouth delicious and my husband loved the ribs. The vibe was so cool and Matthew strummed the guitar and sang beautifully throughout the meal. He even took requests. I loved his story about the Garth Brooks concert in NYC. It was such a warm, welcoming vibe and I highly recommend it to anyone in the area. read more

I can't believe that this restaurant wasn't packed on a holiday weekend!! A gem of a restaurant located 15-20 away from Bryce Canyon National Park. There were indoor and outdoor seating with live music from a lovely performer! The host greeted us with complimentary popcorn and we ordered the brisket with mashed potatoes and coleslaw and their signature burger. I was impressed with how elevated their food was. The mashed potatoes and coleslaw was so unexpected but in a great way! Loved all the flavors in the dishes. They had a fire pit as well with marshmallow roasting which was lovely. The steak was simply seasoned but cooked medium rare as requested and tender. The ribs were tender (not quite fall-off-the-bone but easy to eat) and the barbecue sauce was tasty with a bit of a kick. We could each choose two sides, so we chose soup (red pepper and Gouda, like a tasty spin on tomato soup) and loaded baked potato (well done!) for the steak, and mashed potatoes (served broccoli instead, but it's fine) and onion rings (tasty & crispy). Condiments including ketchup, A1 sauce and mayonnaise were all on the table for easy access. SERVICE: Very nice and attentive. OVERALL: Very good choice among the relatively limited options nearby. Although there were several servers present and interacting with nearby tables, no one acknowledged us or offered to take our order. So we stood and looked around and left, no one event care. Took a chance on Showdowns while choosing Bryce Canyon National Park and so glad we did! We arrived on the early side for dinner on thu evening, about 5:30, and immediately seated. By 6 or a little after, the place was full and purple were waiting. Service was prompt and efficient though hubby's coke order was forgotten until we could catch her eye to ask about it. She felt awful at forgetting and brought it out quickly. For food, I ordered the chicken entree with vegetables for both sides while hubby had the trout, also with vegetables. The chicken was the star, for sure. Perfectly cooked with nice flavor and seasoning. Hubby said the trout was good, if a little on the small side. The menu had a nice assortment of beverages including Utah brews and the desert menu sounded lovely but alas, we had no more room to even try one. Ok so if you are in Bryce Canyon this is a must go for food, awesome entertainment and some of the best service!!!!. This was our night before we leave to travel back home dinner spot. So for the food, I ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs with a loaded baked potato and stemmed vegi's. The ribs were what you would consider competition style. So one thing that stands out is when you take a bite that's all that comes off. The ribs were perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The baked potato was done like it should be done. Properly cooked and loaded. The vegi's were cooked perfectly. Not mush and not raw. They had a great bite to them. The restaurant isn't far off from Bryce Canyon. It's a bit hard to see, but it is located after the pedestrian bridge in the parking lot. Unfortunately, we were too early for the live music, so can't comment on that. The place was busy at 5:30, but service was prompt. They give you some delicious popcorn to start off. I had the bacon burger and it was the best burger I had in a while! The buns were brushed with butter or oil, the patty was tasty and cooked perfectly and the fried egg pops when you take the first bite (careful! ). I substituted fries with broccoli and they were lightly buttered. Note that they did not have any draft beers, but they did serve cans in a frosted glass. Got seated right away and immediately the hostess delivered a large bowl of popcorn and a pitched of water - the popcorn was a nice surprise! My husband and I are on vacation exploring the Mighty Five National Parks in Utah, and we stayed at Bryce Canyon Inn which is lovely, spotless, and just a short walk away from everything. We popped into this restaurant for dinner, and wow... what a treat! I lean more vegetarian, while my husband eats anything, and we were both blown away. Hands down, the best vegan soup I've ever had after a long day of hiking, it hit me like my mom's homemade soup! The fried ravioli were incredible, perfectly crispy and flavorful. My husband tried the burger and declared it a solid 9/10. Pair it with some local beer, and you've got the perfect meal. The staff were welcoming and kind, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Thank you for a truly wonderful dinner--we'll be thinking about that soup for a long time! read more

After visiting Bryce, we were hungry and headed to Showdown's for dinner. We opted for outdoor seating as the music was kind of loud indoors, but we could hear it at just the right volume from outside. My daughter got the Southwest Pasta, which included a spicy creamy sauce, shrimp, and andouille sausage and was served with a delicious piece of garlic bread. I knew I'd end up eating some of her pasta, so I ordered a loaded baked potato which was perfectly filled with cheese, bacon, butter, and sour cream. We loved the complimentary popcorn that was brought to us while we waited for our food to arrive. Service was excellent and prices were about average. After hiking all day in Bryce Canyon NP I could only continue the completion of Fairyland Loop by my desire for a good steak meal! We arrived right when Showdowns opened and we were greeted and led to a booth. Our waitress, Elaina, was a friendly Joy! The fun popcorn was as good as movie theatre popcorn! I decided on a Strawberry Smash and husband had their lemonade. Both delicious. I ordered their 10oz steak medium cooked with a slight pink along with buttered garlic mashed potatoes and a good service of broccoli! I ate everything ! Husband ordered the 1/2 chicken along with the same sides. They have a terrific selection of desserts, but, we had to regretfully say no. We heartily recommend Showdowns. They gotta spend a little extra and go with Tillamook or similar vanilla bean. It would pair so lovely with their wonderful desserts. Showdown's Restaurant was like an oasis in the middle of canyons and desert. I was happy to see this quaint place after traveling through vast nothing-ness. Showdowns sits in between a resort area surrounded by one room studios. There's live music and a friendly wait staff. The menu was nothing great. Basic bar food but that was fine with us since we were hungry and needed a minute after traveling a treacherous stretch of road. My husband had a steak and salad which he said was good. I had chicken tenders and fries which were both over fried and super crispy. There were a great selection of state wide microbrews that shouldn't be overlooked. Last was a piece of lemon cello cheesecake that had a raspberry crumb topping. It was fair but filled the need for something sweet. Note that the bathrooms are not in the restaurant but up by the pool instead. A bit inconvenient but nothing outrageous. Theres a fire pit near the outdoor seating area at the restaurant. If you order the s'mores for dessert, they'll light the pit for you. Cozy and outdoorsy but food was mediocre. read more
