One Stop Afrik was one of several vendors selling food at the Harambee Festival at Cascades Park…read morerecently. As best as I can tell they are a fledgling food truck and catering service. They were offering turkey, baked or fried chicken, curry chicken, plantains, puff puff (similar to the "donuts" at Chinese buffets), black-eyed peas, ata dindin, and jollof rice. The good: Everyone was very friendly and helpful in explaining menu options. Service was fast. I got the turkey meal with jollof (a rice dish) and black-eyed peas. The rice and black-eyed peas were really good as was the sauce (ata dindin?) on the turkey. The not-so-good: The main item in my meal--the turkey--was super dry and tough, so tough that much of it was inedible. What was edible was dry but not bad. The sauce, however, was amazing. The other negative is that I looked up this business on the Department of Business and Professional Regulation's website and could not find a business license, so caveat emptor. Bottom line: I would return, but next time I would try the curry chicken (what most people in line were getting).

I am one to enjoy new cuisines, so to my delight One Stop Afrik was set up at the Lemoyne Art…read moreFestival in downtown Tallahassee last weekend. As a friend and I wandered around visiting all the vendors, I was drawn in by the delicious scent of chicken and turkey cooking in an array of spices and sauce. I was greeted by two very kind women from Nigeria. They had an appetizing menu, including curry chicken, stewed chicken, turkey, jollof, fried white rice, black eyed peas and plantains. I sampled the stewed chicken and found it to be very flavorful and moist. I also sampled the jollof, which is one of the native rice dishes. I ordered a plate of the stewed chicken, which you receive two chicken quarters, and a nice heaping side of your choice, which I chose the jollof. The serving of jollof was a little oily for what I am used to eating, but overall the dish was very pleasing. For dessert, I ordered plantains which were fried up fresh and to your liking. No complaints there. :) Overall, I was very satisfied with One Stop Afrik and am looking forward to visiting them again in the near future.
