I visited this Showmars location today, and the experience was unacceptable from the moment I walked in. Instead of being greeted as a guest, the manager immediately told me there was "no public restroom," delivering the message with judgment rather than hospitality. Not once was I welcomed, acknowledged, or treated like a paying customer. I came in to dine and wait for an Uber after my car stalled, yet the manager seemed more concerned with policing restroom use than providing basic customer service. His priorities are clearly misplaced--especially considering this location is operating with a Mecklenburg County sanitation score of 93, far below industry standards. As someone who has spent 35 years in restaurant management, including 20 years as a district and general manager, I have never operated a restaurant with a score this low, nor one that sat nearly empty during peak lunch hours. Leadership sets the tone, and the tone here is clearly lacking. The assistant manager did step in and apologize, but the damage was already done. First impressions matter, and the judgmental attitude I received will be the lasting memory every time I see or hear the name Showmars. I fell in love with the brand during the COVID‑19 era thanks to the Matthews location, but this store is not led with the same standards, professionalism, or guest‑first culture. This experience marks the end of my patronage with Showmars. I encourage future guests to review this establishment's inspection history through the Mecklenburg County Health Department, especially since the issues noted in their recent inspection were not corrected despite the opportunity to do so. Industry standards are 97 and above, and this location is nowhere close. read more

For a Showmars the food I had was legitimately good. It was tasty fried well, and didn't have any unusual odors that would otherwise sour my meal. My okra was fried a little too soft for my tasting and it needed some salt but that wasn't a deal breaker. Same thing with my onion rings, not fried hard enough but the fish was really good. Service is fine, I ordered and got my food within 20 minutes. Nothing exceptional nor out of the ordinary in reference to my service. Deserved its 4/5 stars this last visit I went, pretty solid food. read more

This is our goto spot on Friday. Came here with some coworkers today and got a warm greeting from Kim like always. She's is always in a happy mood and makes eating here very enjoyable. I had the old fashion pita burger and fried okra. The okra wee fried perfect with a great crust. The pita burger was melty and made just right. Is there food amazing, i would say its standard fair for a fast food place. But the service and the people working there is 5 star. This was the first time I've been to Shomars. I didn't go into the restaurant, so this review is based on my food alone. I had the grilled chicken pita, which included a grilled chicken breast with lettuce, tomatoes and tzatziki sauce. I also had a side of hummus with pita. It was all average. Not great but not bad. My grilled chicken was a little dry with not much flavor, and I wasn't in love with the taste of their hummus. I don't recall any tomatoes on my pita, but hubby might have asked them to hold the tomatoes when he ordered it for me. And I didn't get pita triangle pieces with my hummus, just another piece of pita bread, but it was okay. Overall, it was average. I might return again and try something different that may be a little more flavorful. read more

First time going here and not gonna lie I was a little disappointed. First and foremost the service here is awesome! Everyone is so nice and eager to help, from the guy behind the counter to the woman bussing tables. I asked for recommendations for what to order and was told the fish sandwich is the best item with Cole slaw and tartar sauce, so that's what I got. The sandwich had lots of fish on it, but there was absolutely no flavor to it at all (even with the tartar sauce, slaw, and hotsauce.) The fries were fine, just needed salt and Ketchup. My friend got the chicken pita and hers looked amazing so if I go back I will try that. We also had the fried okra...not a huge fan, mostly because of the texture. The menu made me chuckle- fried fish and gyros. It was one of those things I had to see. My coworker and I were looking for a lunch spot and the variety of the menu looked like it was going to be a hit. It a spot where you order at the counter and there is a large men on the side wall as you wait in line. We moved out of the way looking at the specific menu items before walking up to the cashier. We're given our drinks and a number to place on the table. The cashier was lovely and when I asked if the place was a chain, she proudly shared "we have 33 locations!" The food was deliver to the table by a very cheerful employee and she came by the table a couple times offering refills and to clear the table. Heads up- it is a P-e-p-s-i restaurant. Much more popular in the Charlotte area than I remembered. It wasn't the best food I had ever had- no one needs that rice to veggie and grilled chicken ratio. Showmars is a great choice if you're not in the mood to cook but you want good food. This restaurant offers a combination of Greek, American and Southern cuisine with lots of delicious options to choose from. They make the food fresh to order and bring it to your table piping hot. The runners and manager are very hands on, they stop at your table every few minutes to see if you need anything including an endless refill of your beverage (the half lemonade/half ice tea aka Arnold Palmer is amazing). The atmosphere at Showmars is very nice and you won't miss the game, because they have wall to wall televisions streaming the hottest sports games. The dinning room at the university city location is immaculate (the bathroom needed a little sweeping up). I'm looking forward to my next Showmars visit. read more

The service started it all off on the RIGHT foot, literally no mistakes, constantly checking on our group and doing things to where we didn't even have to ask for anything. The tartar sauce is next level amazing and is what makes the sandwich so good! I was a little disappointed that the pieces of fish on the sandwich were not as meaty as the menu picture showed (but menu picture are always exaggerated, right?). The chili burger was good, not amazing, but is something to order another time if you're feeling it. The French fries were fresh and the perfect crispiness! Now, the cactus chili. So yes, it has pieces of what they will tell you if you ask is "edible cactus that adds sweetness". I did not like the chili, it was too sweet. I am not a liker of ANYthing spicy (I am a wimp) BUT sweet chili really shouldn't be a thing. I wish I hadn't gave ordered the bowl, they do have a cup size. I been going to this showmars for a while and i love the food but their customer service is going down hill.The lady Kim that they have picking up the phone is very unprofessional and rude on the phone and in the store too .She picks up the phone with attitude every time and sometimes put you on hold in the middle of you talking to her.Plus I went into the store to pick up my order she skip over twice and then looked at me.I have went into store and she yelling at coworker who are obviously younger then her in front of customers which is a bad image .If you want someone to represent your store they should learn how to talk to the customer. read more

Was introduced to this greek fast food chain by my coworker. It reminded me a lot of California's Daphnes chain. Was overwhelmed by their extensive menu, and they seem to be known for their burger in a pita (forgot what it's called). However, I was craving gyro meat, so got the gyro dinner plate which came with a side salad, pita, gyro meat, sauce, french fries, and a drink! It was about $10. Very quick in service, and I had 2 boxes to take with me to go! Tons of gyro meat, but it was a bit dry. Their pita is really good, I think they fry it, giving it that extra yumminess. I ended up making my own gyro with the veggies from the salad. Their fries were the crinkle cut kind, and it was good, but way too much! I couldn't even eat half my meal!
