    Pav Bhaji Fondue
    Yeshvi M.

This place is a fam favourite!! We miss their Roomali roti, but the Pav Bhaji Fondue made up for it! We also ordered their two main sizzlers, amazing as always. The only thing I find funny is the extra charge for onions and chillies, no other Indian place has ever charged for this but I guess that's why this is a "Modern Taproom." The service was extremely slow on this visit, we had to flag down the server many times. Ambiance is always great here.

All right. This should have been done by me last month. Our family of three went to showshaa on 152nd. We are glad we did. Everything we ordered was made to perfection. Non-alcoholic drinks were perfect. We ordered sizzler, that was a great mix of Indo-chinese taste. Cauliflower-manchurian was crispy and tasty. But this is what I am here for. Channa-Bhatura (Chole-bhature). Cooked to perfection, Chole were the best. Not runny, not soggy, not light in color, not dry and well cooked. And for Bhature, let me tell you, baked bhature are not bhature, microwaved bhature are not bhature, in the name of healthy eating, most restaurants are virtually giving rotis and call them bhature. Not in Showshaa. Bhature were perfectly fried, and you know that the dough is fresh once you taste the bhature. In surrey, half of the restaurants do not know how to prepare and present chole-bhature, and I can say, because, I am trying new restaurants and their preparations for past 10 years. Not one I had found till date, that prepares chole bhautre as they should. Showshaa has ended my quest to find perfect Chole Bhature. If anything needed to be added is that keep the bhature, fluffy. Now, everything can go sideways, if service is not right. My apologies as I forgot the name of our server. She was cheerful and helped us selecting our food. Kept my little kid engaged and he was happy too. Her drink suggestions were great and she made sure that we are served on time. Will be visiting soon. Cheers.

I was excited to try this place as I had discovered it on Yelp. We got the gol-gappa flights, showshaa signature sizzler, malai kofta, buttered chicken, and some garlic naan. The gol-gappa flights had a nice presentation and interesting taste. We were expecting the sauce to be warm, but it was served cold. We've never had anything like that before so we can't really comment on the taste too much. The showshaa signature sizzler was our favorite. It was like an Indian Chinese dish and had so much flavor and texture. The malai kofta and buttered chicken were decent as we've had better. Overall, the food was pretty good, service was great, and the place looked nice and upscale.

Absolutely love this place. I went here with a friend and it wasn't super busy (probably because we were there quite early). The food was delicious. We ordered mango lassi, sesame paneer fingers, chicken tikka masala, chilli paneer, assorted samosas. The staff were lovely and did great as well.

Our go to Restaurant whenever we visit BC Canada.. Pretty Ambiance with Tasty Food & Service too.. it's just few minutes from US/Canada Border.. hence whenever we visit Vancouver from Seattle.. we definitely go there.. also it's open till late.. so a perfect place for us for late Dinner.

    Beautiful ambiance

Pretty interiors and very spacious space indoors plus a good amount of seating on patio. All black paint gives it very pub look but its otherwise a fine dinning restaurant. Chandeliers were unique n beautiful. Too many bathrooms for both men n women and they were clean and full of toiletries. Mix of english , hindi music which gives it bollywood blended hollywood feel. The usher is always there to greet you and asign a table as per your choice. Many staff members make sure the whole experience is going smooth. I would rate the food choices as abundant and flavoured. All sort of dish had a twist of their own. Like samosa cocktail which is basically tiny little samosas. Big quantity of serving is good as well coz atleast two people can easily share a platter. For me pav bhaji was little too oily. I personally dont like chaat without bhalla but some places serve bhalla chaat and paprdi chaat seperatly. They just had one option. Since i was driving , non alcoholic beer was a good choice. Overall service is good . Location is little bit behind but a foodie can go anywhere for

Great ambiance, great service and yummy food! Particularly liked the Pani Puri and the sesame Paneer fingers. So so good! They have a good selection of sizzlers as well. Dessert options are super interesting. Tried the falooda which was very nice. Will go back to try the other ones like the gulab jamun cheesecake.

They have 1 girl working behind the pastries counter and only 2 servers in a packed restaurant. The pastry girl greeted us but the servers were so flustered that I had to flag them down to tell them I had a reservation. My first time here I loved the girly decor but this time all I saw were dirty dishes on the table. The servers looked stressed and one girl even dropped a tray full of glasses. There was a long wait to order, get our food, and get our bill. My friend ordered the pork belly eggs benny and it was as delicious as last time. I ordered the truffled mushroom frittata and it was nothing special. It was mostly overcooked eggs with mushrooms and a slice of toast that tasted plain. I told the server it was my friend's birthday and I wanted something special for her. Last time I ordered creme brûlée and they put sparklers on it and "happy birthday" with icing sugar. This time their dessert options were all brunch items: tiramisu French toast, chocolate French toast, hot cakes. None of them sounded appealing and they brought out vanilla ice cream in a small bowl and presentation was pathetic. This place has gone downhill, will not be returning.

The food had a twist of creativity in both the taste and the look, satisfying your palette and your camera. And just like in Australia, their coffee was good but super tiny. Our favorite dish was the peaches and cream hotcakes. Very refreshing. It also had some cream cheese, so it was sweet and savory. Their chicken on their waffle was very nice as well, but their waffle was a savory waffle. Which took away the pleasant combo of sweet and savory. But still very good. I would just order more friend chicken next time. well cooked, crispy pork belly too mmm. Price was decent as portions were generous. Service was friendly, and the food took a moderate food amount of time. We went at 2pm to eat brunch, so hoping that it wouldn't take longer during more peak hours. Parking is a bit of a hassle as it's underground parking. A bit of a trek to come to the restaurant, but I think that's the norm now in greater Vancouver area. Sadly the norm is also paid parking with no validation. But I won't dock off points for the restaurant for that Their menu rotates, so I would love to come back and try something new.

Our server was attentive and around when we needed something but never interrupting, and his recommendations ended up being some of our favourite dishes. The anchovy olives were a standout, super crispy, packed with flavour, and not overly fishy at all (great if you're a bit hesitant about anchovies). The mushroom toast was rich, savoury, and full of umami. Just a heads up not to let it sit too long since it softens the bread. The tuna tartare was fresh and well-balanced. Not my personal favourite served on toast, but still really enjoyable overall. The paella was excellent, perfectly cooked shrimp, tclams, and crispy pork belly chicharrón that added the best salty, fatty crunch. The roasted cabbage completely surprised me and was easily one of the best veggie dishes I've had in a while. I could have eaten a whole plate of it. We wrapped things up with churros and shared a pitcher of sangria. For three people, it came out to about $68 each before tip, which felt very fair for how much we ordered. Would definitely recommend.

As well, the manchego was so tiny it was like a shaving . The bone marrow amounted to about three teaspoons of marrow. We were so sad and dissatisfied. The patatas bravas was okay. Unfortunately we do not have a reason to return.

We had begun our night at Bar Gobo and just was not feeling it, so we decided to come to La Boqueria instead for dinner. We were able to get a table right away with a quick phone call, and they saved us a table upon our arrival! We mainly came here for wine and the delicious Pintxos, and between the two of us we shared a bottle of the Blasted Church Hatfields Fuse, and a platter of 5 Pintxos (great date meal!). Due to the current circumstances they seemed to be understaffed so the food was taking longer than usual so they offered us a complimentary dish of Pulpo a la Gallega - perfectly cooked giant octopus with potato, mayo and paprika - if I knew how delicious it was I would have definitely ordered it as an appy! The Pintxos are to die for - perfect for sharing. Our favourite was probably the negitoro, and the ultimate sardine. The platter of 5 is a perfect portion for 2 people and a great way to try a selection of Pintxos and a delicious explosion of variety of flavors. This place is a must-visit for seafood lovers, and such a unique offering comparing to the many tapas options in the city. My only feedback is I would have probably liked a more extensive list of red wine; maybe more full bodied reds? The cocktail list also looks amazing as well but sharing a bottle of wine is such a great date idea that we decided to leave the cocktails for our next visit. If you are looking for an unique romantic date night spot, I would highly recommend La Boqueria because it will be sure to delight and surprise your date with a great meal, ambiance, and great service. Truly a hidden gem in Vancouver for seafood and wine lovers. They are only open for dinner service for now so be sure to make a reservation.
