Saw this little place on my drive to the hotel. It looked interesting so I had to try it. First impression was, it's a hole in the wall. Best ones. It was early so not many people were there. The menu had a good amount of selections for dinner. I asked for recommendations. The fish, shrimp, grits, pasta, chicken, and raw oysters. I finally settled on the spicy chicken pasta, recommended. Then I got a side of popcorn shrimp. I had to try it. Both were very good. The servings were pretty big. I just knew that this place was gonna be good. The service was great. The food was good. Everything was just a little better than expected. Oh, and don't forget to use their hot sauce. It's the best I've had in a little while. I would have brought a bottle back with me but those TSA folks are a pain. They would have taken it and i would have been pissed. I even told some local folks about this little gem right in their bank yard. They had never tried it and they were from the area. I recommend this place and will be back when I'm in the area again.

After shopping we were looking for a quick bite and we found this spot. We were greeted and quickly seated. There were some good choices on the menu. I ordered an oyster on bun, they only have American cheese so no cheese for me. The oysters were fried perfectly! My husband had the shrimp basket and he was pleased with it all. Our server, Kisha, was an amazing server. Friendly and fun. We felt at home. We would definitely visit again

I love the food here - but the service is even better! Nothing better than good food, served by people who like what they are serving, and who like each other. We had the bang bang shrimp tacos - I've never seen shrimp tacos stuffed so full! And we had the tail in shrimp basket. The coleslaw you could skip - but the onion straws, the fries and the hush puppies are divine!

Food is VERY MEDIOCRE. We live in Louisiana and have a second home in Gulfport, we are trying all the restaurants and this one got good reviews. They said large portions NOT! 10 shrimp and you have to pay up charge for not imported shrimp. If in Gulfport eat at shaggys it's way better

On our way to New Orleans we stopped in for lunch. The parking lot was packed but we easily found a seat at the bar. While the Shrimp Basket is a chain restaurant this was their first location. It is definitely a locals place and the severs know all the locals that come in and are very friendly. The food was good, cooked perfectly and the service attentive. Also, they have a full bar! When one of the customers got out his wallet to pay the bill the server saw that he had a military id. She immediately told him she would be right back with a new check as they offer a military discount. Very nice!

In the area geocaching, my friend and I had to wait a bit for a table, even though it was after 2:00 PM. This place is busy! I ordered small fried shrimp with broccoli, my friend ordered the large fried shrimp. The shrimp were a bit greasy, but the taste was wonderful! Their tartar and cocktail sauces were equally yummy, but the standout was the BROCCOLI! Yum! If I have one criticism, it is that the waitress brought my water with her hand over the top of the glass. That's icky to me.

Brittany was an outstanding server! It was just two people busting their butts taking care of everyone. The wait staff works so well as a team taking care of the customers and each other. Oysters on the half shell for .79 was a great special. Some of the freshest oysters I've had in a long time. I think they pulled them from the gulf 5 seconds before they hit my table. Had the house salad and it had a pound of dried cranberries, picked those out ... sorry not a fan. Grill flounder was okay and shrimp had a good flavor. Overall very pleased with the whole experience, but the service is the star of the show here!

Stopping for the night, we chose this local places based on reviews. Excellent boiled shrimp, coconut shrimp appetizer and shrimp and grits on spot (not all my food, the group). Beer was cold and service was friendly and great. But, you know you're from the south when a roach walks across the wall and no one gets excited, someone gets up and takes care of it.

In town for a week for a golf tournament. Always love the gulf and its abundance of delicious foods. Went to the Shrimp Basket expecting good things. Got GREAT things! Ordered the Choose 2 with Fried Shrimp and Fries Catfish. Both came out steaming hot, perfectly cooked, delicately battered and fantastic! Cole Slaw was on point! Even the fries were good. Ever had fries at a seafood place? They're never good. These were GOOD! Had a recommended Blonde Ale to go along with it and the experience was terrific. Now, while the food was delicious, the staff was deliciously spicy. They're fun, super welcoming and attentive. Want a good, fun meal of gulf seafood...look no further!

We are ending an emotionally exhausting weekend trip in Gulfport, after spending time with my dying mother in law. We decided to stop in Shrimp Basket on the last night on the way back to our hotel, and not only was the food incredible, but the staff was so pleasant, fun, and interactive in a good way. They were compassionate and interested in us, our story and the other patrons. You can tell why people would become "regulars." They went above and beyond incredible service, and all the staff treated us like family as they even said themselves. Lindsey ROCKED and deserves all the tips. Ordered a pick-up orderwl while visiting for Crusin The Coast. The order was ready in 15 minutes, hot, delicious, and super friendly service. It's not our first time here and will not be the last. Friendly atmosphere with lots of seating. Wait staff was friendly and very helpful with the menu items. Star General Manager, was very friendly and offered my brother in law and me a military discount. We were not expecting that but were very grateful. Mike had the fried shrimp basket and I had the boiled shrimp dinner. We also had the deep fried crab claws. Oh my gosh, it was all good. We drove 8 hours just for dinner then drove 8 hours home. We will do this again. We highly recommend this place. read more

I'm currently here at the pick-up area (where there is no one waiting). I've been here for 10 min. and have not been acknowledged, spoken to, or greeted. I've made eye contact with all staff and listened to them chit chat behind the EMPTY bar. Another person walked up and was instantly greeted and asked for her order name. After waiting, a staff member eventually asked if I'd been helped...I said no and I've been waiting here wondering how long it was going to take for someone to help me...her response..we've been "busy". Too busy to say " we'll be right with you"? Too busy to say "hello welcome in" even after watching me walk in and come to the pick up area? Can I just say Yummmmm. Wanted to find something different on our drive to Florida, so this was right off highway 10. From the min you walk in the staff is friendly (all the staff) then we were greeted by our waitress Lindsey, who was awesome, her southern hospitality and charm was precious. My cousin and I went here on a whim, while in town during Christmas holiday. We had the seafood queso dip, shrimp & grits, crab cake and lazy but not least: funnel cake fries . Honestly, every dish was great. Well seasoned food and large portions. I'd come back if I'm in town, but I've got to try one of their po-boys. We had two "mermaid waters" which was tasty and included 3 Rums. Full bar. Great time. read more

The Mrs and I had opposite view of this seafood shack. She said revisit if we ever in the area, I said no mas. We ordered seafood gumbo, stuffed crab, boom boom shrimps, and crawfish poboy with fries. Mrs said everything were seasoned good and tasty, but I thought they were just ok. Here are my takes: Stuff crab - the best taste of our orders. We really tasted the crab meat. Seafood gumbo - too thin for my taste and not enough seafood and variety of seafood. Crawfish poboy - remoulade was missing and the bread was not NOLA style. However the crawfish tails were fried expertly. Boom Boom shrimps - good, kind of like shrimp version of buffalo wings. Table service was excellent, very friendly and attentive. Price points were on the inexpensive side. read more

This is out first taste of what Gulfport has to offer. Mel was our wait staff and did a excellent job. He made sure drinks were full and everything was good. Claw Daddy's has been our go-to for crawfish for as far back as I can remember. They've been in…read morebusiness here on the MS Gulf Coast for many years and have consistently delivered some of the best crawfish you can find. I remember back in the day when prices were pound were less than two bucks but now they are usually $4-5 depending on what part of crawfish season they are in and how big they are. They also offer other stuff like shrimp but I've only ever gotten the crawfish and some sides. They also offer platters that include 3 pounds of crawfish and sides. The spicy crawfish here do have a kick at first, but they aren't unbearable. That first one will get your lips burning so be warned if you're a lightweight. Their regular flavor has a slight kick but is very flavorful. I am not sure what all they use for seasoning but it is a complex blend with an array of different spices that are very good. I recommend you try their sides like potatoes and corn cooked in the same boil with the crawfish so the flavor gets infused into them. Definitely get a side of their butter to pour over the potatoes and you're in for a treat. We ordered 10 pounds worth in late March and the sides were what I'd considered medium with a handful that I'd consider large. This meant you will put some extra work in eating them but they were still good. On average, you can expect 3-4 ounces of meat per pound so take that into consideration when purchasing. While they do have a few outside tables, this isn't exactly a restaurant and there are no indoor tables. Most people get their orders to go here, and they do often sell out so don't go too late in the day or you may not get any on busy days.

We were scraping the plates clean because everything was so good. This is located right on the beach across from the harbor in Long Beach, in an elevated building that has been a few other restaurants over the years. About 3/4 of it is inside seating with a smaller porch/balcony outdoor part that is also air conditioned when they close all the doors. For starters, we got a dozen grilled oysters that had this excellent garlic butter sauce and cheese added. They were average size as you can expect but much better than what we've gotten from Half Shell the past few times we went. We also got the fried alligator bites which were more tender than any gator I've ever had before, and came with an excellent dipping sauce. I ordered the seafood platter for my meal and couldn't finish it. On top of a large bed of french fries were a bunch of shrimp, oysters, hush puppies, and one large catfish filet that was cooked perfectly. My wife ordered the Taste of Acadiana which came with three different cajun staples including gumbo and jambalaya. I sampled some of hers and really liked them all. We went on a Friday night and it wasn't all that busy, but our service was good and they kept our drinks filled. I can't wait to go back!

I am from Gulfport but now that I'm retired I'm not home a lot.. I will make this my first and number one stop everytime I'm home. I have been to many shrimp baskets and, this is by far My Favorite one! I can't say enough good things about my experience! The food was Amazing!!!! The cooks there are great. The girls there were so sweet, the young blonde girl that brought my food was so nice checked to see if we needed anything. The manager Wesley was so nice he came just to check if everything was great. Last by very not least my server was Lindsey I've had a lot of servers but, never have I had one that was so AMAZING!!! She made me realize you can be a server, but Lindsey she truly enjoys serving people. I will always ask for her. I had a BAD day and, she made me completely forget all about it!! Food was great. I apologize in advance that I can't remember any of the names of the things we ordered and didn't take the time to look them up but i wasn't planning to do a review.... We ordered takeout. We got some of the dessert fries/beignet fry things and since we didn't know what topping/s we wanted on them they gave us a little Togo sauce cup of each one to try (Powder sugar, chocolate sauce, caramel, and strawberry or cherry I think). We got shrimp on top of fries, an appetizer, those were delicious. A platter with oysters shrimp and catfish which were very good as well. The chips we got with our queso were sooooo good. I would go back just to buy the chips. I think they are made of fried pita bread or something. We LOVED them. The queso I believe had crawfish tails and shrimp and was really good. The fried pickles seemed kind of on the thin side and had a little spicy aftertaste. All in all I highly recommend eating here. read more

We went to The Shrimp Basket in Gulfport because my father stops there regularly on his trips to deliver boats that he sells. I was so impressed that I might go with him to deliver his next boat. I had raw oysters, and a shrimp boil that included potatoes corn on the cob and 42 shrimp. That I shared with everyone. We also had Mahi Mahi tacos. Everything was cooked to perfection. The staff was friendly and attentive. If you are ever in Gulfport stop by The Shrimp Shack. Be sure and Have some of Ashley's Crack Sticks (funnel cake fries). They are addictive little treats covered in caramel sauce and dusted with powdered sugar. We ate at 10 different restaurants on this trip, one that was over $50 per person, and The Shrimp Basket was my favorite meal of the trip. read more

Lindsy, Kirsten T, and Amber were all great!! Lindsy had a great attitude from the moment we walked in the door. She made sure we were seated and had a drink all while doing the ( I have to use the bathroom dance) but she wouldn't go even tho we told her to before we were ok. Kirsten T and Amber checked on us several times while working the bar. They all held nice conversations with us while we ate. Lindsy also gave us a spicy tartor sauce and it was Amazing. Went here on a weekend day before the rush. We were greeted and sat down. I asked about the wine and server was not very knowledgeable. We ordered and we could see the kitchen window where food was set for delivery to guest. Manager sat at the bar on her phone while servers were eating infront of the window and grabbing other peoples food. Shrimp were actually really good. Grits were runny and unflavorful. Food took a little too long but a ton of to go orders were being sent out so that's probably why it took too long. I may return because food was good. When my family goes somewhere, we are usually disappointed. I am gluten sensitive and cannot consume anything fried in flour. I had no idea they accommodated my allergy. I was prepared to go through my typical "does this have flour?" or "fried together?" routine through the menu. i asked one thing, and they gave me an allergy menu. after a few minutes the cook came out and informed us they have gluten free batter for ANYTHING on the menu! they even change their gloves, pans, oil, and everything. i recommend this place 100%. the food is amazing. i recommend fish or shrimp read more

My wife described the shrimp and grits as "an edible hug" and I highly recommend the combo platter with the Cajun and blackened spices combined.
