On the occasion i am coming up from El Monte, I find myself hankering for seafood- I'll stop in at shrimp house. Extremely accommodating staff, many of them long timers, attend to me like family. Todays dinner was Manhattan style clam chowder and some popcorn shrimp appetizer. The chowder has the correct ratio of ingredients for the style. The distinctive flavor hits me good, and contrasts nicely to the taste Reginald style of clam chowder. Finished off the meal with the coconut fried banana and ice cream- as these dog days of summer are in full swing. If your in the area give them a try. I was in the mood for a good hot not fast food meal. SHRIMP HOUSE did not disappoint. I was greeted upon arrival by a waiter that was occupied at the moment yet still welcoming. I sat down at the counter and picked up a menu. I informed the server that immediately gave me attention that I was ordering to go yet still wanted a beer while I waited. O my goodness super cold beer and a chilled frosty glass was in front of me within a minute of ordering. My questions where all answered and my order was taken. Shortly after my bill was presented. WOWZERS. Great prices. By the time I was finishing my beer, my food was ready to go. I was happy to get home because the food smelled so delicious and I was very hungry. I chose the galley. It came with two sides. I chose rice and coleslaw and let me tell you the food was absolutely delicious. The fish was very mild and the pieces were a nice size as well as the shrimp. Not a super fishy smell like in some restaurants, and they did not even require any lemon I did sprinkle a little salt on my fish. What can I say I like salt and I feel like it ramped up the flavor. Old school since 1960. We came here for New Year's Eve dinner and the place wasn't empty, and we were the last one's to leave that night. I ordered the Captain's Platter which is a great deal for the variety of food they serve you. The white clam chowder was good but the shrimp salad was bland even with the blue cheese dressing, needs a flavor upgrade of some kind. This was a regular spot when I worked in Pasadena, but don't get out here too much. My go orders were always the fried shrimp and clam chowder. I would buy a pint of clam chowder and stop for some bread and it was the most fantastic dinner. Been wanting to try this place for years and finally got the opportunity. We had a free entree for birthday redemption with a purchase of another entree which worked seamlessly. Got to try the top sirloin steak and shrimp scampi. For the price this was a pretty good deal for todays standards. In terms of the steak the quality was middle of the road but still pretty tasty. Shrimp was smothered with butter and my sides of fries and cole slaw were quite tasty as well. For the second entree we had the captains deluxe which came with an assortment of fried seafood, salad, clam chowder and one side which we got rice. The clam chowder and salad with shouldn't be missed because they both were delicious. Try out the red clam chowder it's amazing! The fried seafood itself felt like I've had fresher at other places but it overall still tasted good. I'd be back to try out more of the items. My experience today, shrimp tasted fishy, the fish is not the flat fish and it tasted different. The servings are smaller seamed like processed fish sticks. The previous owners, if you did sell, should have included a clause to keep to the original menu. My last visit today after 45 years. Had we only known, we would have gone sooner. I was looking for something different to eat for lunch today besides the usual Jack in the crack or Micky D's that's right by my work. Im really glad I found this place on Yelp!! I saw pictures of the shrimp scampi linguini and my mouth watered. Then when I had it in front of me I drooled like a baby. It looks so beautiful! (Yes I called the food beautiful!) it's a pretty big portion size; I ate half for lunch and will be eating the other half for dinner. The sauce is really creamy and the shrimp are perfectly seasoned. Dinner salvaged! After a failed attempt to fulfill a steak craving in Temple City, we thought quickly and swung over to Shrimp House. I was actually not in the mood for seafood, so I ended up ordering a steak. It was fairly decent. It probably tasted much better considering the circumstances, as it's not hard to follow an act where the staff from the previous attempt at the other place failed to acknowledge us at all for a good half hour. As with many places, seating was outdoors, masks were required, and to-go orders and payment for them took place inside at the counter, surrounded by a transparent barricade. Parking: Not bad, even with some of the lot designated for outdoor seating. FYI: - Exiting may require you to make a U-turn if you are heading anywhere but south. - To-go orders will require you to enter from the north entrance of the building (past the seating on the west and take a right). Next time, I should make this a first option, actually try the seafood, and give more details about this place. read more

We came in on a Tuesday about noon. **Plenty of parking in the back** We ordered our drinks and were brought right away, however for there only being 5 tables with service it took them over 20minutes to come back. We finally ordered our meals and waited about another 20. I love coleslaw so I asked for that as one of my sides. It was ok. I had a breaded fish fillet and scallop plate. It was also ok, the cornmeal on the outside didn't have much flavor and for the price of the plate the scallops we're very small. Three pieces were on the plate. The clam chowder had flavor, but didn't have much of a clam juice flavor. Everyone says it's to die for, but I was kind of dissatisfied with it. Their shrimp was good. It is so good! We ordered the shrimp platter and the fried 2 fish, 2 shrimp. Both were enough for 2 ppl to share. My favorites are coconut shrimp and the shrimp skewers which have a lot of pepper, cayenne, maybe lemon pepper seasoning. The pieces of fish are big, fluffy and filling. Perfectly fried.
