Wow, what a sincere and wonderful save by this business. I love the food but had a terrible experience last week. He texted me a very sincere apology, which was very nice to hear. But, fast forward one week to this morning and I get the attached text, remembering my name and my order and offering me a burrito to smooth things over. So thoughtful. So happy they have a brick and mortar restaurant now. Everything tastes so fresh. Love that they have lunch specials. Everything we have gotten there has been delicious. I've seen the truck around for some time, but honestly just couldn't expect fresh shrimp off a food truck. But I noticed they opened a storefront and finally gave them a chance. I went with the po boy, and though I would criticize it for not being on the proper roll, the important part was the shrimp, and it was delicious. The menu is quite varied, and I look forward to going back and trying all of the different ways they prepare shrimp. Notably, the lack of any shrimp odor is a sign of fresh seafood. The Shrimp vs Chef truck was parked at Enegren to my delight. I had been to several lobster trucks, but never a food truck that solely focuses on shrimp! So I was excited to try. I had the shrimp tacos and then later shared a bowl of jambalaya. The shrimp in the taco was crispy and topped with red cabbage and crema, just like your traditional Baja-style fish tacos are. The shrimp cooked JUST right and not over breaded, but perfectly coated as well as seasoned expertly! You get two soft tacos and chips. Ok... shrimp vs chef guys... and you two are adorable handsome, so it's hard for me to say: how about some fresh chips? The store bought chips just seems like such a sell out and yes, perhaps it will require a fryer at a different temperature, or perhaps you ran out of tortillas this night, or perhaps, you are trying to save on cost. But from this consumers opinion, you are charging $15 for 2 tacos... that were absolutely exquisite! But dammit, elevate that shit with some fresh chips for Taco God's sake! The jambalaya was really good... packed with juicy pieces of chicken breast meat, andouille sausage(?) and perfectly tendered shrimp along with all the other good things a great jambalaya has! I'm so glad I got the chance to taste this. I hope to run into this truck again, because I am not against paying a little extra for delicious food, but I'll hold the chips next time! read more

My daughter found this little place and raved about it. So I decided to try it out as I love shrimp. I had the Garlic Noodles first time then had the Shrimp Katsu the second time I went with friends. My husband, friend and I decided to order from ShrimpvsChef yesterday at Island Brewery in Carpinteria and let me tell you, we were not disappointed! We split the garlic noodles, with shrimp, and the special of Shrimp Katsu, and both items were delicious. The garlic noodle has fried shrimp on them that come deveined and shelled. The noodles were soft and had great flavor. The shrimp were cooked just right and also had a nice flavor. We added a little of their spicy chili sauce to the dish for some heat and it was delicious. The daily special, the Shrimp Katsu, was fantastic. From the sticky rice with fresh scallions, to the fresh shrimp with the Katsu sauce and sesame seeds, the whole dish was great. Large portions that complimented the IPA beer I had and the local seltzer my husband got. Overall, great purchase, great food and awesome service. Just came here for late lunch after soccer. We got the off menu poke, fish tacos, and a Baja shrimp burrito. Everything is so so good. Even the kids liked it, which is rare. The Jambalaya packed a punch with spices and heat! The beef was fork tender, the shrimps were sweet and succulent and the andouille sausage added a nice Cajun touch. So, I hadn't heard of this truck before, but my husband was out running errands today, and he called me and said Hey, there's a food truck at the gas station. Shrimp something. Look it up. So I did, and saw all the pictures of the delicious looking food. I told him to stop by when he finished his errands and get a sampling of things for us to try. He got the garlic noodles, shrimp and pork burrito, and jambalaya. The burrito was the outstanding dish of the three, but the other dishes were great as well. So full of flavor. We were camping in Carpenteria and decided to go to Island Brewing to have some beers. We got hungry and Shrimp vs Chef was there . We ordered the shrimp tacos . The shrimp were fried in a huge amount of batter that was puffed up to create a huge taco. Three shrimp per taco . 12$ for two tacos . Rip off . If you like deep fried batter .. this place is for you . My stomach still hurts from the grease. My friend bit into one of the "shrimp"to find all fried batter we should have walked across the street and went to THE SPOT for burgers and fries. 4 ppl ,8 tacos ..48 bucks ! NEVER AGAIN. I really can't believe this place has some 5 star reviews. Recently had some of their shrimp and fish tacos. Waited almost 30 minutes to get my food. Payed almost $35 dollars for that crap. With every bite I took I was left disappointed and couldn't never find a sliver of flavor. All I could taste was bread and a joke of sauce they saturated the tacos with. It's sad that so many food trucks pop up and lack everything they advertise, seems most food nowadays is what I call "Instagram Food." We are a new Brewery in Camarillo, so as one might imagine, food trucks are different to come by. I we have had a dozen or so at our location. This one topped the chart. They had come highly recommended, but we were very pleased. First off they arrived an hour early. (When does that happen?) They were very professional, courteous, and let me tell you..... the food was very fresh and delicious. We ordered the garlic noodles with beer battered shrimp. Yesterday, I tried their fish tacos in Carpinteria, and I must admit...they were good! But, it was weird to eat them without lemon or lime. That's how I've been eating fish tacos for decades!
