Alberto...a true hero in my eyes. I had to plan a memorial for my friend. I called Alberto to see if he could help me with his amazing food. From the day we first spoke he was so kind and nothing was a problem. We stared with a menu he suggested, we changed it to what the widow wanted..Alberto, "no problem". We started at 175 guests...ok, then 225 guests...ok, then the day before 278 guests...done!! My memorial was set to be outside..and then weather was rain..all Alberto said was "it's all going to work out Michelle". My company happens to be located right across the street from Rock Chef Rolls' head office, and we've always been curious about their big, black food truck. Finally, we had them cater one of our luncheons -- Halloween 2019. We emailed back and forth with Paula about creating a custom menu for us, and she was a pleasure to work with. We agreed on Harvest Farro Salad, a potato medley, and three kinds of tacos (Chipotle Lime Chicken, Pulled "Adobo Style" Pork and Soyrizo). It was important to us that we considered our veggie-friendly employees, and Rock Chef Rolls understood that. A few days before our event, Chef Alberto visited our building to better visualize the setup. No one has ever done that, funny enough. It makes for some potentially stressful mornings, and he certainly wanted to avoid that. We were setting up the food distribution line outside, and his truck needed a few of our parking spaces. It actually ended up working out swell, since he advised that we should use a separate area of our parking lot and showed up early to reserve spaces. The actual day was a huge success. They were ready well ahead of time. The menu items were portioned into cute little takeout boxes. Once we finished with speeches, employees practically ran downstairs. We had discussed with Rock Chef Rolls that we would be giving blue tickets to employees for them to redeem for food. Rock Chef Rolls would need a ticket or they would not give up a tray. This ultimately did not happen, and I had to monitor the line myself. On a couple of occasions, someone did try to sneak into the line -- unsuccessfully. It's not a big deal, though, since Rock Chef Rolls knew how to keep the line moving smoothly. They were replacing food quickly and efficiently. There were two of them replenishing food, and Chef Alberto cooking in the truck -- they had a great system going. I won't lie -- more than a few employees jeered at the sight of a food truck on their luncheon day. We have been known to invite quite stellar vendors and caterers for our events, and "the food truck from, like, right here across the street" seemed like a letdown to them. Well, let me tell you, a hell of a lot of people came rushing back for second and even third helpings. I, myself, had about five cups of the potato medley -- the seasoning is fantastic. Employees were raving about the "gourmet tacos" and "refreshing salad." They even gushed over the homemade tomato and hot sauce, taking sides to-go. I monitored the line for about an hour, and I almost died laughing whenever someone rushed past me with guilty, gluttonous eyes. I was definitely not judging anyone! If you order catering from Rock Chef Rolls (which you should, they are great), you MUST ask for the potato medley (my name for it, I actually don't know what it's called). I looked up their menu online, and it's a blend of these three items: - Garlic Rosemary Fries with Sea Salt and Grated Grana Padano Cheese - Billy's Bullets Tater Tots - Sweet Livi's Potato Fries We must bring Rock Chef Rolls back, they were so convenient and delicious. Loved the energy -- they play music, too -- and the food. I think I would choose other options next time, since they do have a lot of other food on the menu. This is a food truck and the menu tends to vary every few times or so. They come out to Calabasas for the work areas every Wednesdays I think, but don't take my word on that. Wow! This is some seriously awesome and creative food! My co-worker took me to this truck and the word of mouth is true. First off this is one of the nicest and cleanest food trucks I've experienced and no detail was spared. Now to the food... I was conflicted between the jalapeño beef burger and the pulled pork roll (both of which looked amazing), and I ended up with the pork. So mouth watering and tasty with the awesome slaw stacked high and the toasted bun spread thick with garlic aioli sauce. I also did the basket of fried goodness which is a variety of different fried potatoes and one of their organic lemonade's. The line was stacked deep but they were super fast, friendly and clean...not something you always see, especially from a group of tatted up dudes in cut off tee shirts! Chef Alberto created a spectacular assortment of tray-passed appetizers for our wedding in Calabasas! From blistered tomato burricotta bruschetta to salty pretzel bites with cheese fondue and pickled jalapeno mac and cheese, rock shrimp gaspacho, and trio of taters with homemade ketchup...everything was amazing, and I know our guests enjoyed them too. The plating and service was top notch and exceeded our expectations. Really appreciated the extra effort for the gluten free guests - they loved the special salmon kale salad and were thankful for a special meal. We were so glad we got to try all of the apps right after our wedding ceremony - we loved the decorated platters for the two of us with a sampler of every appetizer (photo included). Yay! Rock Chef Rolls is the best. We wanted to have a food truck for our rehearsal dinner so we caught them one night in Westlake. We loved the tacos and got in touch with Paula. Paula and Alberto worked with us to create an awesome menu. The night of the rehearsal dinner they showed up and were ready to rock and roll and cook! We didn't have to coordinate anything with them the day of; they were totally on top of things. More importantly, our guests LOVED it! Not only did some of them say it was the "best food they had ever had, period," they loved the how fun it was to have a food truck and how great the Rock Chef Rolls staff were. I think I can start by saying that usually, salmon tacos are pretty boring. Generally it's a slab of salmon (on it's own, delicious, sure) but no one ever does anything really interesting with it. Maybe some of the usual played-out mango and avocado, something like that. But somebody at Rock Chef Rolls decided that enough was enough, because their salmon tacos are completely insane. I think of myself as a vegetable lover, but even I winced at kale on a salmon taco. I'm glad I persevered, though, because the bitterness and richness of the fried kale bits added a really nice depth of flavor that complimented the meaty, smoky salmon absolutely perfectly. They had some interesting seasonal greens on top, little fried crunchy bits, a little sliver of chili for spice. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure that I accounted for everything that was in here. There was a lot going on, which can be bad, but it was executed so well that I rocked and rolled with it (see what I did there?) And it was seriously delicious. Wow, ordered a couple dozen tamales from RCR for Cinco de Mayo and DAMN are they tasty--we couldn't wait til the 5th so we had some for dinner on the 4th. Some were pork and some were 'rajas' which is cheese and roasted poblano pepper. These were not made by small hands if you know what I mean, these were very filling bad little boys, made with love it seemed. The value was outstanding--$30 for a dozen big tamales. The sides that we ordered were also delicious and creative; the pickled jalapenos rocked the house and there was some sort of creamy white/pinkish sauce that must've been sour cream based I'm guessing. My friends and I tried the Rock Chef truck for the first time today. We sampled the jack burger, banh mi style pork sandwich, and salmon sammy. We also ordered a side of tater tots and fries with homemade ketchup. I had the pork sandwich, which was tender and flavorful. It was carnitas, bacon, cabbage, cilantro, and sriracha mayo on a ciabatta roll. Kind of greasy but very yummy. The tater tots and fries were very crispy and well-seasoned. The ketchup was tangy with a little kick - a nice complement to the potatoes. My friends each loved their respective sandwiches. One of my friends got the meyer lemonade, which had cucumber and mint in it. She said it was very good. I also enjoyed being able to use their ironing boards as tables. Overall, this was a nice change of pace from your usual sit-down or fast-food restaurant, and the food was delish. read more

Rock Chef Rolls knocked our corporate party out of the park. The whole group was so surprised and impressed to walk into the party with a food truck and be handed appetizers as they walked past the truck, but I think they were even more impressed with the high quality Chef Alberto and his team put out from the truck. The pork street tacos garnered raves throughout the night from the crowd, as did--surprisingly--the panzanella salad topped with brick chicken. That was one of my favorites as well. And of course, with a mostly-male audience, the Snickers and Milky Way pops as a tray-passed dessert were being buzzed about into the evening. When the team's evening was up, they cleaned up and packed out without anyone even noticing--it was military-like precision and not disruptive at all to the flow of the evening for all the guests. They always knock my socks off. The menu changes all the time, so don't go with a pre conceived idea of what you want. Just see what they have. You will always find something unusual but delicious. For a food truck they are expensive (for two tacos and a side I paid $14)... But they really stuff the tacos. The ingredients are great quality and the food is innovative. Worth the cost. I don't even like jalapeños or pork... But for some reason I got the pulled pork tacos and jalapeño Mac n cheese. Both were amazing. RCR was amazing! Went to a Food Truck Event at Via Colinas Shopping Complex in Westlake and they were the stars- the ROCK stars, that is! I have a huge obsession for tots- we always hit a Sonic when we're down south- but the Lime Tater Tots with Garlic Fries were out of this world! Definitely my favorite thing on the menu! Its disappointing since there are such great reviews on their food but whoever is coordinating their events needs a little more diligence getting back to prospective clients.
