Food Is good, I asked for chile Colorado, and it was so good, Margarita's are the best!

There are so many Mexican restaurants in Reno that it is difficult to stand out with me. This one doesn't stand out with me either. I'm over getting rice and beans with my meals so I end up ordering a la carte these days and most places make it difficult to assemble something fun when doing that. This is one of those places. I'm all about carnitas and mole these days. The carnitas taco was tasty, but I like it when the pork in the carnitas is a little bit on the crispy side and this was not. I settled for the chicken enchilada as the additional item in my meal and it was good too, but like I said I'm all about mole and that sauce was not one of the choices for the a la carte enchilada's. I'm sure I could have gone off menu, but it would be so much simpler to just offer all the things that come with rice and beans without rice and beans a la carte. I also had the Cadillac marguerita on the rocks and it was very tasty. read more

Let me tell you about the 1 star rating. We found this restaurant using Yelp. Looked like good reviews, so we came for lunch. I saw they had a 10% off w/check in. I asked if they honored it, the owner said yes. Good so far. Here comes the 1 star explanation. I asked for 2 slices of lime to use in their salsa. Nothing was said about it being extra. We ordered shredded beef, menu does tell you that carnitas is 1.75 extra. Nothing is said about shredded beef extra. Our meals should have been 9.45 and 12.45. We were charged .50 for shredded beef. Charged 1.25 for limes. Ridiculous! He charged me just enough to cover that Yelp 10% off. I will never return here!! read more

When you try to support local businesses during these times and order entries (full menus not lunch specials) and the establishment is suddenly trying to charge you for chips and salsa?.... and when I ask you why as there is never a charge for that and your response is "these are different times".... you are right, I am sorry for trying to help your business stay afloat....wont do this mistake again! read more

We love Si Amigos! Always amazing service and food. We love the cozy ambiance in the bar area. Our two favorite entrees are the Muy Special and the Chimichanga Del Mar. They are both amazing! We also tried the shrimp ceviche which is part of the happy hour special. It was so yummy and was a huge portion for $6. You have to try this place! read more

We are visiting from Cali, decided to try this and I'm so glad we did. First of all they had indoor seating which is amazing because every restaurant is outdoor seating in Cali right now due to covid. Anyway we ordered chicken enchiladas, chicken quesadilla, pollo al crema and Chile verde it was delicious. So happy we found this little hidden gem. Definitely worth trying. read more

I had drinks and apps here once before and I LOVE their Queso Fundido so I figured I'd come back for dinner. What I liked: queso fundido, the service, the ambience, the short wait on the food. My only critique was that my shrimp ceviche was not as great as I would've liked, I was expecting the shrimp to be raw and cured with lemon/lime but it was cooked which is not how a typical ceviche recipe does it and that is why I only give them 3 stars. I have never had a bad experience at Si Amigos. The service is spectacular. The margaritas are marvelous. The food is fantastic. The ambiance is amazing. The enchilada sauce is my favorite... ever. The sauce is made with a peanut butter base which lends to the unique taste. I've never been disappointed and have been ordering enchiladas for years. As for a drink, you can't go wrong with the Presidente Margarita! The drink is in an individual-sized shaker and you have a tiny (and cute!) margarita glass to drink from. These are the best margaritas in town. But by far, the ambiance is what keeps me coming back. The employees are always welcoming, but it's more than just the service that makes this place a relaxing and comfortable dining experience. The decor is pleasing to the eye and not cheesy. And no matter how many tables are full the noise level is never an issue. I don't know how I have been able to have a romantic dinner for two while a party of three adults and five children are seated at the next table, but I LOVE it!! read more

THE BEST Mexican restaurant I've EVER been to!! Actually, the best restaurant period! I'm thinking of moving to Reno so I can eat here every day . Seriously though, my table ordered classic margarita, peach margarita, strawberry margarita, super nachos, chimichanga, fajitas, etc, and we LOVED literally everything - even the chips and dip. It was my aunts bday and at the end of our meal they surprised her with a sombrero, flan, birthday shot, and song. If I could give them extra stars I would. Absolutely will be back, I don't get how they only have 4.3 stars at the time of this review, they deserve 5 for sure. read more

Our go to place for girls night out. The prices here are really reasonable. Lots of nice choices. We had a party of four who all ordered vastly different items. We were all very happy. Every time I come here I'm greeted with a warm smile and the food is amazing too. I usually order the mole or the mole enchiladas. They're soo good and they don't skimp on the mole. I was in the mood for a Mexican restaurant I had never been to before, so I checked out Si Amigos. It was roughly 4:30 in the afternoon, the place wasn't busy at all. We walked in and waited to be acknowledged. It was one of those awkward moments where you begin to wonder if you are supposed to seat yourself. We were seated in the corner of the restaurant, within a few minutes the waitress brought out some chips, bean dip, and salsa. The chips were warm, the salsa had a nice flavor to it, and the bean dip was also tasty. Once our drinks came, we ordered our food. I ended up getting the taco salad with chicken. The lettuce was a bit wilted so I ended up picking half of it out. The chicken was cooked perfectly with great flavor, as were the vegetables. It was very filling! The only reason I am giving this restaurant a 3 instead of a 4 is primarily because of the service. Once our waitress brought us our food, we weren't checked up on until it was time to pay. Our drinks were empty, I was trying to make eye contact with her, but failed. The group seated two tables down from us had their margaritas refilled twice and were attended to on multiple occasions. If the place was slammed, I would be more understanding, but there were only four tables taken (including ours). Without mentioning our frustration, the waitress had apologized. If you like great Mexican food and you just happen to be in the Reno area give this place a try. We were vacationing in Reno the Month of June this year. There were 4 of us and lemmie tell you we were all hecka hungry! And we needed some real food... not fast food. If you get my drift, sometimes you just have to have the slow cooked stuff. While driving along Virginia St. we all came to the conclusion to get some Mexican food which made my job easier. Don't you hate when you have your heart set on eating a particular cusine and it never fails just like voting on election day your 2 votes short for the steak house special! But not ta-day brother we all agreed..... Call the newspapers! We all ordered combo plates of different varieties. First thing they bring out the chips and salsa.... Let's get the salsa outta the way so we can get down to the nitty gritty. The salsa was fine, on a scale of 1 to 5 I would give it a 3. Ready set.......go!!! the chips and the bean dip were fantastic could not stop eating them we blew away 2 bowls of chips salsa and bean dip included, I have never tasted bean dip this fresh anywhere never! Everything tasted fresh and crispy crunchy if I would have thought about it I would have asked for some chips to go. The drinks arrived we all had soft drinks, we came to chow down. However I would have loved to have tried something from the bar but was too early in the afternoon......... Hiccup! Who said that? Next cometh the food on large platters 2 by 2 "Noah's Ark" cause the plates were so big. I felt like a little kid when the waitress started walking toward our table with the tray of food...trying to see if I could tell which plate was mine.... " think I see it"! Ooh ah bliss going to be some good burps tonight. Soon we all had our plates each one better looking than the last but all good! The waitress and waiter were both very attentive.This place is a hands down 5 star!!! I felt like I was eating a some good friends house, ya dig you ever eat at a friends house and they made you feel so much at home that you wished you lived with them? Oh yes! The booths were large and roomy, the staff is friendly and yes.....decor is dated but don't we secretly want that nostalgic look! What the hay is what I say, as long as the food is good! This year Reno News and Review voted these guys the Best Food and Best Margaritas in Reno. Deservedly so. Our service was top notch. The waiter was overtly friendly, but not in an intrusive creepy way. He was completely up front and honest about what we should order and what wasn't on top of their game today. We appreciated the drink recommendations. But to be honest, we chose this place as our Birthday dinner choice because of the other reviews and photos. The margarita prices are comparable to any other restaurant in the area, but WAY better. And that's a nice thing. Nothing worse than good food and watery drinks. Both of our combination plates were delish. We had both shredded beef and carna asada. Usually I struggle with under seasoned meat, but today was spot on. The atmosphere was comfortable, friendly and welcoming. Very clean as well. And that's always a nice surprise for Mexican food places in Reno. Sadly we have a lack of clean here in town. This restaurant is very homey. And everyone seems to be welcoming. read more

Atmosphere - A small place in a strip mall. The only thing I ding them on is a tear in the fabric/leather bench I sat on. Food Appetizer - The typical free salsa and chips, but they also give you a small bowl of spicy refried beans. Main Course - I had the combo burrito with shredded beef. It was a very large burrito with some good flavor. The Spanish rice was a little different than most places, it had corn in it. Dessert - Between the margaritas and burrito I was stuffed. Service - I wish I could remember his name as I would thank him for his great service here. Funny and polite, switching between Spanish and English with ease, with my limited Spanish I was able to follow what he was saying but other could not. We haven't been here in a number of years but came in with a coupon. The inside atmosphere hasn't changed over the years. Standard Mexican restaurant interior for a Reno establishment. Everything seemed clean and kept nice. The food wasn't amazing nor was it disappointing. They did bring out a salsa refill vase for the salsa dish. It's always nice to have a little bit extra salsa for the meal. One thing I really liked was that they brought out a mini shaker for the margarita. Good and strong and still mixed nicely. And as I said in my tip I loved the Sangria. Parking here can be a chore because of the tightly laid out spaces and odd design trying to get more spaces in an awkward width lot. Bring the smaller vehicle if you want to park anywhere near the restaurant during peak dining hours, which also happen to be peak gym hours at sports west next door. Mexican isn't really high on our dining out priority list so I probably wont be making a point to return, but would not hesitate to eat here if time and location make it convenient. read more

This is the third time I have visited this restaurant. I can tell you their food is always bursting with flavor! I Am a huge fan of chili Colorado and the first 2 times I had it here, it was huge pieces of meat with just enough heat to make my nose run but didn't burn out the flavor! This time I opted for the chili Colorado burrito. Unfortunately, the deflated burrito was small and the bell peppers were larger and more abundant than the meat. It was still very flavorful but I was disappointed by the minimal amount of meat that was an extra charge. The chips are fresh and good with an amazing salsa and bean dip. It's too bad they charge extra for more chips and salsa. I think if you are going to charge for seconds, firsts should be more than 12 chips. Other than that they are always fast, friendly and some of three best Mexican food in Reno. read more

Came here with a group of friends for dinner. They were raving about how good this place is, however, the food was mediocre at best. Rice was cold. Chili relleno was probably the best thing that we had of the enchiladas and tacos. Service was good. Drinks were great. Michelada was amazing. Free shots after a $250 tab was a nice touch too. Explosive diarrhea almost instantly after finishing our meal was not ideal. Likely won't be back. read more

We're locals and this is our favorite Mexican restaurant. We went during the week and Sara was our waitress; she was wonderful. I had their Original Margarita which is made from scratch and I believe it is only available at this restaurant. It's the best I've ever had. I ordered their Mexican Shrimp Caesar Salad - it's difficult for me to order anything else because it is SO good. My husband had Carne Asada and it was also very good. Si Amigos is strictly adhering to COVID-19 pandemic rules. A large sign on the front door stipulates their requirements, including using their hand sanitizer when you enter the restaurant. So, bottom line, the food is great as are the staff, and we highly recommend this restaurant. read more

WOW, I haven't been here for a couple of years and all I have to say is that it was better than ever! The service and staff were on point, oh so welcoming and friendly. It was busy and we were seated right away. My party had 3 so we decided along with the homemade chips and salsa along with a fresh bean dip to try the shrimp ceviche. It was served with a bed of homemade tortilla chips. It was a delightful appetizer, was so fresh. My friends dad ordered the Chile Relleno he had choice of one or two! Came with Spanish rice and beans...he thoroughly enjoyed it! My best friend and I decided on my favorite which is called the "MUY" special, I noticed the price had dropped so was curious about the size and quality. Wow it was better than ever. This dish comes with rice and beans, a grilled chicken breast, carne asada, shrimp with a butter sauce and fresh mushrooms. It was all cooked to perfection. So juicy and flavorful. Just like I remember from my last visit. Like I said service and food was outstanding, please give them a try...you won't be disappointed! Forgot to add that the margaritas are on point! read more

Though I love truly traditional Mexican food, there are times when I crave the Americanized version I grew up with. Keeping with tradition, we received corn tortilla chips and salsa--plus refried bean dip--upon being seated at Si Amigos. The chips were fair and the dips were OK, with bean winning on texture and flavor. Neither was spicy, which set the tone for the the meal. There were certainly lots of interesting flavors to be experienced, but hot chiles weren't in the mix. This leads me to believe the food has been dialed down on purpose, "made safe for gringos," if you will. Hot sauce was offered for those of us who enjoy the fire. An appetizer flauta plate looked and tasted great, with shredded chicken rolled in a nicely crisp, deep-fried flour tortilla, cut into six pieces, drizzled with red sauce and arrayed on a bed of shredded lettuce with sour cream, guacamole and pico de gallo--we'll call this classic condiment combo S/G/P from hereon. The guac was basic and the relish of tomato, onion, and cilantro tasted fresh, nicely complementing the well-seasoned chicken ($9.95). Hankering for seafood, we ordered a campechana ($15.95) and chimichanga del mar with rice and beans ($16.95). The former is a goblet filled with sauteed shrimp, bay scallop, and octopus, mixed with diced tomato, cilantro, onion, avocado, tomato sauce, and a blend of citrus juice. Garnished with slices of orange, lemon, and lime, the seafood was perfectly tender. The combo of tree fruit and tomato presented a toss-up over which was sweeter, the soup or my completely enjoyable house margarita ($7.95). Both made me pucker. The chimichanga's mix of shrimp, crab, scallop, tomato, cilantro, sauteed onion and mushroom was great, but the deep-fried flour tortilla was completely drenched in a cream sauce of seafood puree and seasonings. Unfortunately, good flavor was lost in a broken sauce--grainy not smooth--rendering the chimi a soggy, curdled mess. The refrieds were OK, though definitely the first time I've seen lima bean, carrot, green bean, and corn mixed in Spanish rice. Heading back to shore we ordered a house favorite, carnitas fajitas served with rice, whole black beans, and S/G/P ($13.95). A sizzling platter is exciting, but the real drama was on the plate. Huge chunks of marinated pork shoulder atop a pile of sauteed bell pepper and onion that was a bit daunting, but so tender they easily gave way with just a butter knife. Definitely the biggest "little meats" I've been served, and among the tastiest. We wrapped things up with a large combination plate, normally a choice of three items--enchilada, taco, or tostada--with the standard sides ($11.95). I chose instead to swap for a chile relleno ($1 extra), a carnitas chimichanga, and grilled steak chalupa (each $2 extra). With just a drizzle of red sauce, this chimi formed a crispy cozy for that awesome pork. The cheese-stuffed poblano had good flavor and better than average texture. Definitely freshly cooked, sans microwave. The chalupa--traditionally a form of tostada with a corn tortilla deep-fried into a cup shape--featured a flour tortilla much like a modern taco salad, albeit a bit smaller. The steak was every bit as tasty as the carnitas, cut in small pieces and laid on a bed of refried beans, topped with shredded lettuce, cheese, and red sauce.
