I stumbled upon Siam Station Thai Food when my Thai food cravings were hitting me hard. It's definitely a hidden gem, tucked away in a corner of the city. I decided to give it a shot, but let's just say my taste buds took an unexpected detour. First up, the Green Curry with Rice. It promised to be a flavorful concoction of green curry paste, coconut milk, bamboo shoots, basil leaves, and fresh chilies. Oh, and we added chicken to spice things up. Tom Yum Soup was hot and sour soup with lemongrass-kaffir lime broth--sounds exciting, right? Well, it was hot, alright. So hot that I could feel beads of sweat forming on my forehead as I took the first sip. The chicken satay grilled chicken served with house peanut sauce and cucumber relish. The chicken itself was decent, but the peanut sauce was a game of hide and seek. I wanted to try something different the deep-fried tofu with sweet sauce. Now, I have to give credit where credit is due. The tofu was actually crisp and fried to perfection. But the sweet sauce... let's just say it was a little too sweet. It's not the place I'd rush to for my Thai food fix. But hey, maybe they were having an off day in the kitchen. Or maybe my taste buds were feeling extra adventurous that day. Tried Siam Station in Irvine today and honestly, it exceeded my expectations. We kept it simple and ordered just three dishes: the Super Crab Fried Rice, Spicy Beef Salad, and Moo Tod Nam Pla. Sometimes when you order only a few items, it's easy to tell whether a restaurant is truly good or not and every dish we tried was executed really well. The Super Crab Fried Rice was definitely the standout for me. It was packed with crab, flavorful without being overly heavy, and the perfect comfort dish. The Spicy Beef Salad had a great balance of heat, acidity, and freshness, and the Moo Tod Nam Pla was crispy, savory, and incredibly addictive. What really elevated the experience, though, was the service. Everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish. It's one thing to have great food, but when the service is just as memorable, it makes you want to come back. I have been dined at this Thai restaurant a few times and, while the food was enjoyable, I had a troubling experience with the service, particularly at checkout. When it came time to pay the bill, the server presented the payment terminal and stood over me, essentially pressuring me to select a high tip. The terminal defaulted to an 18% tip, with higher options readily available. To choose a lower tip, like 15%, I had to manually select a custom amount. Typically, servers provide some privacy during this process, allowing customers to choose a tip amount without feeling pressured. However, this server's constant presence made the situation uncomfortable. Despite the poor service, I opted to leave a 15% tip, which was met with rudeness and a dismissive attitude from the server. Portions are generous enough to leave your party satisfied, and pricing hits that sweet spot between affordable and S+ tier. Went here for a birthday dinner on a Tuesday night and we got there around 7:30 or so to put our names on the waitlist in person. Wait time was around 20 minutes, more or less, for a party of 5. There is a mix between indoor and outdoor seating, so keep that in mind if you're particular about where you sit. I recommend inside because it is not as cold as outside and a better overall experience. Customer service here was attentive--small things like asking for extra lemon for the Pad Thai were acknowledged. It does get lively and loud, so bring your voice if you're on a date. I'm Thai and must say the food here is real authentic! They taste just like Thai food I had when I was in Thailand! Pad see you is my favorite! Love the burnt noodle smell! Terrible Service and Bad Food" I had one of the worst dining experiences at this restaurant. We were a group and had a simple request to have the fire lit to keep our food warm. There were three staff members--one Asian waiter and one Asian girl in particular who had the worst attitude. They blatantly ignored us and acted like our request was unreasonable, even though it's basic service in many places. To make matters worse, the food was terrible--overly salty and the flavors were way too strong. Definitely not worth the money. I adore Siam Station! I usually get the khao soi, and I adore the way the flavors of the coconut and spices combine. I've tried the crab fried rice and Thai basil fried rice, and both are excellent choices. The flavors are strong, and I adore how much rice is included. I was really excited to try this spot since it's one of the few Thai restaurants that serves crispy rice salad and had solid reviews. Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to the hype. The crispy rice salad wasn't bad - the flavors were there - but I wish the rice chunks were smaller and that they had included more of the fermented pork sausage. We also ordered the pad see ew with filet mignon. The noodles were pleasantly chewy, but the filet mignon was a letdown - dry, tough, and definitely not something I'd recommend. The food is good. Our usual go to for Thai in this area. We DoorDash a lot, have spent hundreds of hundreds of dollars here. But they are so cheap with the Thai vinegar chili sauce. It's free if you eat there. I always call after ordering and ask them to add some, at least 3 or 4 tiny little sauce cups. They never do. We've been there several times and finally experienced such poor service. We accidentally spilled Thai tea on the floor, we are very sorry and want to ask for help. But no one came to mop or no napkins. We used all the napkins we had to wipe it. There weren't any napkins until we were done and a lady kept rolling her eyes when we wanted to ask. We were in the area and this place was suggested. Maybe we should have tried the pho, but I mean it's the summer time so it's too hot to be having pho so we skipped it. Based on what we got, it was generally yummy, but I wouldn't go back here again. Id be more inclined to try other places.

I decided to try the shrimp and pork wonton soup with chicken broth. When it came out, I realized this was more of a Northern Chinese style wonton soup, which I had never had before. It took a little getting used to because I'm much more familiar with Cantonese-style wonton soup. The wontons were definitely different from what I'm used to. They had whole pieces of shrimp inside rather than chopped shrimp, and some of the wontons didn't have shrimp at all. There was also some seaweed and tiny dried shrimp in the broth, which gave the soup a very strong seafood umami flavor. Personally, I prefer Cantonese-style wonton soup, but that's just my preference. This is clearly a different regional style of Chinese cooking, so I wouldn't really compare the two as being the same thing. The soup was filling, though, and it was interesting to try something I hadn't had before. I'm planning to come back and try the beef soup next. It looked like that was the popular item because almost everyone around me was ordering it, so I'm curious to see what that's all about. .
