I've been coming in here about twice a month for the last year. I'm vegetarian and I get the curry noodle soup with tofu and no eggs. It's delicious. I came here for lunch and the waitress kindly pointed out their awesome lunch special ($8.50 for an starter, spring roll, wonton, and entree) when I was struggling with what to order. BEWARE OF REFILL CHARGES AND FULL PRICE FOR CHILDREN The food is average, the atmosphere is okay, but the unfriendly owners make the restaurant an uncomfortable place to dine. I would never choose to go back to this restaurant. To make the experience even worse, we were charged the full soda price for each refill and my 3-yr old was charged full price. I don't have a problem paying for refills or full price for a 3-yr old, but when a restaurant's policy deviates from the norm, I think customers should be told upfront rather than when they get the bill. Had we known we were going to be charged for refills, we would have thought twice when they came by and offered to refill our sodas. How many restaurants charge for refills anyways? Its not the best, its not even great, its OK. I typically just go for the lunch all-you-can-eat buffet, because I don't have much confidence and like the (limited) variety. Id say that I go once every few months. Irregularly regular. Buffet: your typical steamed rice, coconut milk soup/hot sour soup, a little salad area, some kind of fried fish dishes, mixed veggies, green curry. The curry doesn't have much flavor, the sushi isnt great. I might be tempted to try a regular dish and see how it goes. I like iced tea. They serve it in a glass jar, and a cup of ice. I really like a lot of ice, so this setup, while ensuring plenty of the tea part, jeopardizes my ice. The location is great - the outskirts of old downtown Monterey. I love walking around there, and when you see the facade of the restaurant building, its very Thai-ish. Then you step inside and are surrounded with carved wood, and beautiful tapestries. Its carpeted, and clean. The service - is just ok with a lowercase 'o'. I wouldn't recommend this place to others if you are trying to impress them... read more

This place is the best authentic Thai food in Monterey. Sam the owner is so nice and personable. The food is made with great ingredients and you walk away after eating there feeling good. They have delicious Thai tea and much more. I highly recommend this place for real Thai food. Don't waste your time at another place but come here and enjoy a real authentic Thai dish. I normally order pad Thai, drunken noodles, pad see-ew, ginger vegetables, spring rolls, spicy fried rice, and we like to share their Tom yum soup. NEED TO LEARN HOW TO TAKE CREDIT CARDS & run a business! Will not ever order from here again. There are only a hand-full of restaurants that deliver in Monterey so I have been very patient with this place but no longer. Every time I have ordered over the phone for a delivery they have called me back and told me my card was declined. I insisted this happens every time and my card was fine. I'm sure a lot of people insist they don't know why their card isn't working but I check every time, just in case. And again, same issue. ( This is my card I use exclusively for over the phone, internet purchases) When I told him this happens every time with them, that he must be doing something wrong, he didn't care and was rude. Told him I wasn't going to order again from him and he didn't even care to try and remedy the situation. People like this don't deserve to be in business and probably wouldn't be if we had more options. So, Im done! Called and ordered pizza with same card and so weird, it worked! read more

We went in with high hopes based on semi positive yelp reviews. Despite that there are better related thai places in the area, we thought it looked good; and besides we were hungry! My wife is 6 mo pregnant and was really looking forward to enjoying some authentic Thai. We chose to order a la carte because the buffet looked picked through and very oily. Our waiter, maybe the owner, rudely took our order. When he came back we asked for hot sauce and chopsticks to which he sarcastically exasperated: "ANYTHING ELSE?!?!!" What an inconvenience to offer chopsticks at an Asian restaurant?! We were shocked and walked out. As we walked away from the table he called me an A-hole and almost gave me what felt like a shoulder check. We've never experienced worse service. My wife was so upset that wr were trated like that. We just had take out and it was horrible. The pad thai was the worst I've ever had. Even the hot sauce didn't give it any flavor. The bean sprouts were on the side and so were all the veggies and I couldn't get them mixed with the giant blob of flavorless noodles. The tofu was bland and tasted like a sponge. My husband's spicy fried rice was not spicy at all but was decent. He ate it but said he would never order it again. We wanted delivery and they say they have delivery we were less than a mile away and with a $27 order they wouldn't deliver. $27 for 2 entrees is also horrible I live in Vegas and normally pay that for 2 entrees and an appetizer with delivery. Finally went in for the lunch buffet, I'm not a fan of buffets but I've been pleasantly surprised once in Denver and my sister loves it. So I go around 2pm and I ended up from the menu probably because the buffet was cleaned out by the time I got there and their lunch specials looked great. I ordered the Spicy noodles, I was expecting thin noodles but I'm not too familiar with Thai food so got fat rice noodles. I ordered the beef and when he asked med. hot? I said HOT HOT. He looked at me like I was crazy but I'm used to that. They were good, meat was delicious but it wasn't spicy haha. Look forward to going back. Left full and with a bunch to take home. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! My family and I have been coming here for years! We love the people, the decor, and especially the food. Every time I come here I always have, without a doubt, the Tom Yum Koong and the Beef or Chicken Sa-Tay with peanut sauce. You can't go wrong with these starters! My family's goal is to have tried every single item on the menu, and because we come here so often, we're pretty darn close! My favorites include the Phad Thai, Pineapple Curry, and the Siamese BBQ Chicken. Again... Excellent lunch yesterday (Labor Day). Many restaurants were closed or too busy to be worth bothering with, considering that we had a 90 minute parking space. We were thrilled with the food here. They don't "dumb down" the spices to middle American tastes, and both the green curry (with tofu) and the Pra-Ram (sautéed spinach with peanut sauce and toasted onion) were excellent--and filling.There was at first a mix-up as far as the rice, but a generous bowl of brown rice eventually appeared. Service was prompt & efficient without being suffocating. I plan to make this a more regular part of my dining out routine. read more

They get one star only because I have to place one!! Extremely unfriendly staff and not at all kids friendly. Do not expect to get a decent table if u r going with a toddler. Toddler is not considered as a person, so they will make u sit on a small table with only two chairs. There were other tables available, they weren't even full!!!! They did not give my daughter water or plate. Had to ask for a plate for myself as I gave her mine. Coming to food...very very very greasy food. He forgot to light up then lamp in the pot of soup, not was at all hot. Zero to none vegetables in Tom yum kum soup. Full of lemon grass and mushrooms. We asked them to bring the rest of the food along with the soup too as we suspected that would be cold too. Sure was! Only warm thing on the table was the steamed rice. Rest of the time they will not come and check in either to ask if everything is okay. And no one is around and visible to call either. All the time we were worried that we might drop a plate or two as the table given for three of us was so small!!!! Not a pleasant atmosphere at all When we were paying and the owner asked if we wanted the boxes, as the pad Thai was left pretty much untouched and more than half of the curry too. Tried the panang curry and was underwhelmed- taste was ok, but consistency was very very off. My husband and I took a long weekend in Monterey and Carmel for our two year wedding Anniversary. We love Thai food, our favorite! We came for lunch on Saturday and it was awesome! Their yellow curry is dynamite! The peanut sauce on the salad was perfect! We noticed they had a buffet! But just during the week. I have always said I wish there was a Thai restaurant that served buffet and then I would be in heaven and voila! Siamese Bay delivered!! We stopped on Monday on the way home and had the buffet! I wish I had two stomachs!! : )) Everything was awesome!! Pad Thai, Green Curry, Tofu and mixed veggies with peanut sauce!! OH YUM!!! The salad with their house dressing was sooo good!! Just ordered dinner from here tonight because they offer delivery! I was totally disappointed. The noodles in my Phad Thai weren't even cooked all the way and they were congealed into a giant glob and some of the noodles didn't even have sauce on them. Gross! I also ordered a garden salad which you can't really mess up but the peanut sauce was totally separated and super oily. Finally the spring rolls... they were ok but nothing special. Considering how this place seems to cater to vegetarians, and based on the reviews, I was eagerly anticipating trying it. Since the dinner menu is pricey, we decided to try it out for lunch first, and if we enjoyed it we would return for dinner. The decor is beautiful and soothing, and the service was prompt and friendly - although our server refused to provide a recommendation when asked to choose between two items [first time that has ever happened to us]. Although the two aforementioned aspects were pleasant, I still cannot give this place more than one star as based on the food being of such poor quality and taste, not indicative of traditional Thai food, which is what I believe they are going for, or of the American-style Thai food - just not good. The lunch special comes with a soup or salad. I ordered the salad, which was soaked in an oil/rice wine vinegar dressing rather than peanut. It was much more indicative of Italian dressing than Thai, but heavy on the stomach and not very good. My wife ordered the "coconut milk" soup, which we tend to order as an appetizer at every Thai restaurant to which we go. The soup was VERY heavy on citrus and cream, but not on coconut or any other flavors which this soup should contain (i.e. ginger, lemongrass). I ordered a spicy noodle dish with steamed tofu, but they could not meet my request as the server stated "all of our tofu is fried." That didn't make much sense, unless the restaurant only orders pre-cooked tofu, which I have seen in stores. Furthermore, it did taste like it was pre-cooked, packaged, and thrown into the dish. The entree overall was loaded with oil and didn't taste like anything but noodles with oil. Thus, it was not enjoyable AND it destroyed my stomach for the rest of the day - I mean I was in physical pain. My wife had Phat Thai, which she noted to be the same - lacking flavor, even peanut flavor, and was loaded with citrus. Each meal included a half of a mini spring roll, which was not impressive either. Overall, this was one of our worst experiences, if not our worst, at any Thai restaurant in the states or in Thailand - not one decent item out of the five we tried! read more
