Provolone and meatball calzone
Willie R.

Note: This is a delivery review only. I wasn't expecting too much because, well, it's a pizza delivery place. But Sicilian Pizza pleasantly surprised me. I ordered a custom calzone (I like that they offer those) with provolone, meatballs, and sun-dried tomatoes. The app gave an estimate of about 45 minutes delivery time, and the driver arrived five minutes early. The calzone was hot and clearly had just come out of the oven before being brought over. Already, that was earning them brownie points. I enjoyed the calzone itself, which was a nice size and wasn't too greasy--a common sin of cheap calzones (read: Sbarro's in any mall anywhere). The little marinara sauce was also good, although I had to ration the container since it was small. Next time, I'll have to do one of their select-a-topping pizzas!

Large pepperoni pizza

I wanted to give sicilian pizza a high rating, due to their quick service on a Friday night. It took approximately 20 minutes for the delivery man to arrive in front of my apartment. The pizza came out piping hot (which is what I LOVE), so kudos! The pepperoni pizza was good. The only thing that I would make note of is the tomato sauce - it was a little too sweet for my savory tastebuds. However, for the price, you can't really beat it (since it seems like food is just generally expensive in DC). Would definitely call for delivery again when I have a hankering for some simple pizza!

Good quality ingredients with generous and smiling service. Great experience all around.

I order pizza from there as per recommendation of our friend. The selections on website were pretty interesting and fairly reasonable prices. I got spinach and artichoke one. Pizza arrived after 35 min or so, hot and looking delicious. On my 3rd slice I bit into something hard almost breaking my tooth. I was back closing of an earring!!! I love additional toppings in my pizza but not when they are metal and might cause some damage. I won't be coming back!!

Terrible pizza. That's how little sauce there was on this pizza. I was undercooked under seasoned and under sauced.

Please put your money elsewhere for pizza. I have never had so bad of pizza in my life. It was bland, soft and gummy from being undercooked, was in desperate need of salt, desperate need of of more sauce. I put up a picture just to show how little sauce there was. Just don't waste your money. Their cheesecake was decent though. Idk how that happens. That's why they got 2 stars. I just want to point out that I have had government issued school lunch pizza that has been better than this. I was so angry at this pizza that I threw a slice at the wall. Just don't buy from here.

Half Pepperoni and half feta, spinach and bacon!

Sicilian pizza is one of the best pizza I had in DC for the following reasons: 1. Taste: We usually get the two topping pizza with extra cheese. According to my roommates when they first order from there, the quality of the pizza is tolerable but the more we order from there the quality increases by a million. It actually tastes amazing now. 2. Service: We never use their delivery service since we live right down the block. They often make the wrong order.....but if they do, they always make us a new one. So we end up with two pizzas with the price of one! Can't complain on that!

Honestly, don't bother. Pizza was cold and undercooked. You're better off ordering from dominos.

Street Parking Only & It's Definitely Hit Or Miss. I Got Lucky & Found A Spot, But It Is Metered So Be Prepared To Pay. This Spot Is Literally A "Side Door" Located On The Side Of Scarlet Oak. Super Unique Setup With Cool Lights That Make It Easy To Spot. It's Different From Your Typical Pizza Place, Which I Actually Liked. Since It Was Monday, They Had Half-Off Pizzas If You Dine In & I Had To Take Advantage Of That. CHEESE PIZZA I Ordered A Cheese Pizza & Lemon Water. This Is Detroit-Style Pizza, So Don't Expect New York Style. It's Thick, With A Generous Amount Of Mozzarella Cheese & Tomato Sauce. Honestly, It Almost Felt Like A Cheesy Bread Situation But In A Good Way. The Crust Was Buttery With A Slight Crisp On The Outside & Soft Inside, Which Was The Perfect Balance. The Ingredients Tasted Fresh, & It Was Very Filling. The Size I Got Came With 4 Slices, & Honestly, 2 Slices Was More Than Enough. I'd Definitely Come Back & Bring My Son This Feels Like A Spot He'd Love, Especially If He's Into Breadsticks & Cheesy Pizza. The Staff Was Decent, Though I Didn't Interact Much. The Overall Setup Is Interesting, A Full Restaurant Vibe Inside With This Separate Pizza Concept On The Side. Different, But It Works. I'm Glad I Finally Tried It, Unique Setup, Solid Detroit-Style Pizza, & A Great Deal If You Catch It On The Right Day. Just Have To Be In The Mood For Detroit-Style Pizza.

Through the side door, of course. Side Door Pizza is essentially a takeout counter just off the kitchen with its own separate entrance. We didn't quite realize that going in, and since it was cold and windy, we asked if we could take our pizza inside and sit at Scarlet Oak. They were happy to accommodate, asking only that we order something there as well, so we grabbed a drink. The pizza came out quickly, hot and fresh. We're vegetarians, so we ordered one square slice of cheese and one square slice of mushroom. The cheese slice was good but not great. It could have used a bit more sauce and seasoning. The mushroom slice, however, was excellent. We both immediately agreed we should have just ordered a full mushroom pie. Overall, it was a really enjoyable experience. The environment was welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive. If you're in the Navy Yard area, it's definitely worth a stop. They also have a fairly extensive menu beyond pizza, which we didn't explore this time--but if you go, it's worth checking out the full lineup.

Cute little place that was all decorated for the season…read more This was our first time here & we had heard a good buzz about the place so we were excited to try it out & hankering for some good pizza. We arrived 20 minutes to closing, not realizing their hours, but they were open & it's pizza & cooks fast. Yet it was abundantly clear they were hoping no one walked in & we were told they were closing so we asked if we could order and they hesitated. We were about to leave when they said yes. We were a party of three & ordered three pizzas to share & try. They were decent and the other two really liked the dough but I actually did not care for it. They staff cleaned around us including at our table & had their music going. Then they sat on the counter and watched us, lol. Not a fun experience & we would not have bothered them had we known. They usually rotate a seasonal selection of salads so you know what you're getting is fresh and in season. For pizza, it's always so hard to just choose one or two kinds. But no matter what you decide on, you won't be disappointed. Personally, I'm a one pizza per person kinda gal, but these are for sure shareable and the ambiance is very relaxed and the staff is very nice and willing to make recommendations. A great staple in this area!

I handed it to the woman at the register and she started making my pizza. Again, I was confused where to go next. Our server (I believe his name was Anthony) was fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, answered all of our questions, and even suggested cocktails based on what we liked. His recommendations for both drinks and food were spot on. He was patient while our group made decisions, attentive throughout the meal, and made the entire experience feel effortless. The food was outstanding. The Caesar salad was honestly one of the best I've had in a long time; fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. We had to try the famous Drunken Love pizza, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! We also shared several pasta dishes, with the Cacio e Pepe being the clear favorite at our table. Of course, we couldn't skip dessert. We ordered the cannoli brownie, tiramisu, and cheesecake, and every single one was delicious. The tiramisu was the unanimous winner, but the cannoli brownie deserves a mention! It is incredibly rich and packed with flavor in every bite. Between the amazing food, excellent service, and fun atmosphere, Grazie Nonna made our birthday celebration one to remember. I'll definitely be back and can't wait to try more of the menu!

The Alfredo came out, but the dishes were missing the chicken. It took a few minutes to get our waitress's attention, and she let us know the chicken had been forgotten and put the order in. We decided to wait rather than eat the pasta without the chicken, figuring it would only take a couple of minutes. Instead, it took about 10-15 minutes for the chicken to arrive, and by then our Alfredo was ice cold. The waitress apologized and put in a new order of pasta, but that also took quite a while. When it finally arrived, it came without the chicken, while the original chicken that had arrived late was now cold as well. At that point we didn't even eat the meal. The waitress said the replacement pasta was "on the house," which was a strange thing to point out since it was replacing a meal that was prepared incorrectly. To make matters worse, when the bill arrived, we were still charged for the original Alfredo and the added chicken. Unfortunately, this experience left us frustrated, and we left without enjoying the meal we came for.

When we first walked in, the cashier immediately apologized for the long wait times, thanked everyone for their patience, and let us know they were incredibly short staffed with only two people working. Because the tiny interior was already packed, we decided to leave and do some sightseeing first. However, seeing how good the pizza looked we knew we had to come back later that afternoon. There's no negative details in my review. Nothing but positive things and a small recommendation. 1. Staff and Service I really appreciated the cashier's honesty about running behind right off the bat. That allowed us to make an informed choice rather than get frustrated by a long wait. More businesses could learn from this! 2. Restaurant's Layout The inside is a bit tight and busy, but it's located in a smaller older building, so they have no other options. Since they can't expand the inside adding an outdoor pub height counter for eating, a bench or some seating out front would be a great way to give waiting patrons a place to sit. Also a place to eat. 3. The Pizza -The Veggie Pizza: My nephew and I both ordered this, and the slices were massive you'll see in my pics! They were honestly the largest slices I have ever seen! I love pizza and have eaten it in New York and Chicago, and my slice here held its own. It was loaded with a huge variety of vegetables. I requested to put mine through the oven twice to get the veggies warm and cooked because I noticed my nephew's slice looked like a warm salad on crust. So happy I did because it was delicious! The jalapeños were intensely spicy which is on me, since I'm a bit of a lightweight with spice! -The Meat Options: My son got the pepperoni and thought it was really good, and my husband got a supreme slice which he also said was good . 4. Price and pizza size- they're more expensive than a typical slice, but once you see those big ole slices in my pics you'll understand why. They can't even fit on a plate. They had to serve them to you in an actual pizza box! After reading my long review you're trying to find out if I would go back huh? Absolutely! If I ever in the area or stay at the Hilton DC again, I would definitely walk right on over and get a slice. You can feed a family of three on one slice! Adult and two small children!
