We ordered the pepperoni pizza, chicken parm sandwich, and a fruity martini. I was surprised by how affordable this all was! The sandwich was the size my of forearm and only costed $14 which was such a steal! The crispy nice on the pizza crust was so good as well and the cheesy ooey gooey melty with each bite. This place gets 2 stars for friendly service, but that's it. The food was pretty bad. The clam pizza came with clam shells baked all over it, so you had to pull them out of the melted cheese and shell each one. The crust was good, but the base was soggy. The gnocchi with burrata and heirloom tomatoes was in a very watery sauce so thin it looked like a broth. It had a slightly sour taste and was served lukewarm at best. Last, the spaghetti was overcooked and, again, lukewarm. The really concerning thing is that our food came out SUPER fast, like 5 mins tops. If it came out that fast but was still only warm, it makes me think it was all premade and then warmed up. Last, for 2 pastas, a pizza and a beer, it was almost $100. That would sting under any circumstances, but with food this bad, it leaves a particularly bitter taste in your mouth. I love this cozy little Italian restaurant for their affordable homemade pastas. I frequently crave fresh pasta or brick oven pizza, but lately, prices have gotten a bit out of hand, especially for anything homemade. And when I'm in the mood, I don't want just one dish. I want and need variety. Mmm Nino's delivers on both taste and value. The fettuccine with lobster and shrimp is a great deal at $28, and they are generous with the proteins. I got a full lobster tail and several delicious shrimp. The chicken marsala pasta was also really flavorful. We also tried the Margherita pizza, which was simple, classic, and very reasonably priced at $15. My husband loved the chicken vodka pizza. The bread was stale and chewy. Saw the plastic bin of bread. Started off with the fried calamari. It was gluten free, bad grainy texture, but it was fresh and had decent seasoning. It's been awhile, but dined at Nino's 46 and it's still great! Reservations are a must and there were no tables available upon opening. However, you can sit at the bar and enjoy dinner there. The space is warm, comfortable and inviting. The wines offered by the glass are good and they have a nice variety to choose from. They also have a full bar if you'd like a cocktail. We started off with fried calamari, which is served with a marinara and an aioli dipping sauce. The calamari was lightly breaded and fried to perfection. It was incredibly tender and delicious. The Chicken Parmesan with linguine was wonderful and really hit the spot. The Fusili with Ragu was also excellent. Did I mention the pasta is fresh? Fresh pasta just hits differently. I am ecstatic that Nino's 46 made it through COVID and it's improved even more. This is a small, quaint, and charming restaurant. The tables are comfortably separated and it has a full bar. Our lemonades were nicely tart, fresh, and served in tall glasses. Both of our entrees were incredible...the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka, with Mr. Nino's vodka sauce and Calabrian Chili was AMAZING. OMG...optimally spicy and I enjoyed how the burrata cheese blissfully melted throughout the entire dish. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ENTREE! I waited a week before I wrote this review, mainly because I wanted it to be fair and factual and not based on the emotions I felt while dining at Nino's 46. I was visiting New York City with my sister, her friend, and my eight year-old niece. My niece, has celiac disease, which can sometimes make it difficult to find accommodating restaurants. We specifically chose this restaurant because of her celiacs and reviews regarding owner having celiacs and understanding accommodations. I have a shellfish allergy, so it was comforting for me as well. However, I didn't expect the issues with accommodations to be geared towards my mobility and wheelchair usage instead of food allergies. I am an ambulatory wheelchair user. I specifically bring my chair with me on long trips, due to chronic pain. It is a narrow, TSA approved, folding electric travel wheelchair. It's small, maneuverable and light weight. When we arrived, the restaurant did not have a handicap accessible entrance. The only way into the restaurant is by a short staircase. This type of issue isn't uncommon in old cities, but it is uncommon with public restaurants that have been fully renovated Since the American with disabilities act came out more than 20 years ago... There is room for a ramp, which I would urge the owners to do as there is no grandfather accommodation for ADA with public restaurants (something that I will also be reporting). My sister and her friend carried my wheelchair down the 4-5 steps so that I could come inside with my chair. I sat back down in it. The next part still upsets me. Upon noticing us, our server came up and made a comment that "this isn't really the restaurant for that type of thing" pointing to my chair. I kinda laughed, and shrugged it off and said yeah New York City isn't the most accessible. He led us to a table, and said 'it's a good thing we don't have many people in here today because otherwise we wouldn't even seat you because we have no room for you'. (It was 2:30pm and EMPTY). This is also completely untrue, while the restaurant is small it is not small by any New York City standards, and there was no reason to make somebody who is in a wheelchair feel completely unwelcome in a location. My chair is small and narrow, and can pull under any table. It can also be stored. I have been to so many places and no one has ever told me that I wouldn't be welcome when they are busy because of my wheelchair. Kind of upset, I shrugged it off as he continued to mumble, didn't say anything again and sat down with my family, and ordered our food. Food arrived (4 entrées, 2 apps), including a sandwich that I ordered. Side note in pricing: a lunch chicken pesto sandwich and a glass of Tap water cost $30, tip was included in bill. The food was nothing special for the cost, decent flavor but nothing that in particular that I remember about the sandwich. My niece did enjoy her GF noodles (which was the main reason we chose the location, so that's a plus). Overall food was 7/10. However, I was very taken aback by the waiters attitude once again when my sister and her friends food arrived. Friend ordered eggplant parm. Plating was beautiful and she took a very excited bite of the eggplant, and looked up with disappointment and said 'it's cold'. The pasta was hot, but the Eggplant either did not get to temp in the fryer or sat too long before being plated. Waiter came by a few minutes afterword and asked how it was. I've worked fine dining, I've never seen a response like this. The waiter immediately began arguing with her; she asked if it could be heated up and he oddly assumed meant microwaved and went on a rant about how they don't use them. This continued on with him lecturing that there is no way the eggplant could be cold because it came straight out. He then said he could remake it, but by this time we felt extremely uncomfortable with the entire experience as he went on about how the drop time was only 60 seconds (for reference, it was a 2.5 min cook time at our restaurant, pan fried). We ended up paying for the full meal (including cold plate) and the added 25% gratuity on the receipt and CC charge. He left the table mumbling something under his breath, we all checked eggplant, it was absolutely cold... Obviously, I wouldn't go back as I never felt welcomed in the first place and wouldn't be able to enter it by myself with a wheelchair. It was one of the few times I have ever felt that I was being discriminated based on my disability and mobility. I hope this long but honest review serves as a warning for all those with hidden and unhidden disabilities who are considering this location based on its GF menu. Pros: amazing gluten free selection. Everything can be made gluten free including the pizza and pasta. Cons: the credit card fees. I was charged almost $6 in credit card fees. A dinner for 4 without alcohol cost $200... do you really expect me to walk around crime ridden nyc carrying hundreds of dollars? Nobody carries cash these days, charging 3% for credit card fees is absurd. Also the total was $184.33 before tax. 3% of that is $5.53. Yet I was charged $5.83. Don't get me wrong, I don't care about 30 cents but it's the principal of it, if you tell me you will charge 3%... why are you secretly charging more than 3%? Also, I had the kitchen sink pasta (normal pasta, not gluten free). The pasta was overcooked, it was soft and soggy. My tuna tartare appetizer seemed a little too salty... I asked for balsamic glaze to balance it out and was given dressing (that I didn't add). Even though the tuna and avocado seemed fresh, the salt just overpowered it. My main entree was the kitchen sink pasta (fettucine with a short rib sauce --wasn't saucy at all, pretty dry, mascarpone)... it came with a fried egg on top which was cooked perfectly, but other than that, it was just really underwhelming. This family-owned Italian restaurant is a true gem! It's been passed down through generations, and I'm so grateful they survived the challenges of COVID like many small businesses. The food is always fresh and authentically Italian. The ambiance is always nice and cozy. Erik and Boya always take great care of me super friendly and helpful. Though it's a bit of a drive, I always make a point to visit whenever I'm in the city. I do wish they stayed open later! My go-to appetizer is the fried mac & cheese balls, and if I'm in the mood, I get their brick oven pizza. For the main course, I always order the spicy vodka pasta with grilled chicken. We were sat back by the pizza oven which was really nice and the food was amazing! However halfway through eating my husband was looking past me at the floor. I look over under the next table and see a giant cockroach on its back wriggling around on the floor, right by another guests coat hanging off the chair. We went to this restaurant because it was the same name as my sons late father. We had planned to eat there on our trip from Seattle. This was also the anniversary of our Ninos death so this meant a lot to us. We get there and the restaurant was about 70% full its a small space. We got right in and were seated. From what we could tell the bartender was our server. We ordered the Ninos old fashioned and an appetizer which both were very good. But then it just kind of went downhill from there because we got no service. When our apps came that's when we ordered our food. Our food came out pretty fast and that was the last time we had anyone at our table. We never even were able to order a glass of wine with our dinner. Dirty plates were just left on the table.... as we watched the bartender trying to get things together for closing and on her phone. If they were getting close to closing, they should of let us know and we could of went to another place and revisited a different day. We eat out often and I do like to have basic service. We normally tip 20-25% We don't ask for anything special or need anyone to go over and above for us but just ask if we need anything or take away empty plates I don't think that is much to ask. I only left a $10 tip and our bill was $165 because I wanted to make a statement... When people go out to eat and spend GOOD money we shouldn't be treated like we are NOT wanted. read more

We made a reservation through OpenTable at 6:00pm and were seated promptly after we arrived. The restaurant is cozy. There are bar seating and tables throughout. It was a little dark but I suppose to set the mood. I had the spicy rigatoni vodka that has Nino's vodka sauce and Calabrian chili. My friends had the fusilli bolognese and linguine clams.
