Came for a quiet dinner with my wife. Was seated right away and ordered after a few minutes. Ordered a rice ball and pizza. Not sure if it was good or bad but the food came out super fast, under 10 minutes. Overall the food was good, but lacked flavor. The pizza sauce was a bit underwhelming. Wow. Wow. Wow. Situated in Turtle Bay and only open for less than a year, this is the third outpost of Norma. I am Sicilian and this food is great. I have the pasta with anchovy, pine nuts, and raisins with toasted breadcrumbs. My husband had the veal, meatball appetizer and the spaghetti with red sauce. We both sincerely thought that this food was so top-tier and for what it was very inexpensive. The atmosphere is fantastic the server David was very nice -all in all EXCELLENT-since we live in the neighborhood we will be back. read more

Visited here on a Wednesday evening and was quickly sat, which was super lucky as a walk in only restaurant. The restaurant is rustic and cozy in all the best ways. We started off with some complementary bread that was perfectly fluffy inside yet crisp on the outside. We split a salad that had such a great mix of toppings from dried fruits to marinated tomatoes to well dressed spinach. I ordered the lasagna and struggled to not lick my plate at the end of it the sauce was just that good! My uncle ordered the pasta with lamb and goat cheese. The lamb was fall apart perfection. We split the Rucola e Parmigiano which was large and very tasty, but just a tad too much balsamic. For dinner, I really wanted some kind of fish with pasta but this was not an option. I asked if the cous-cous in the names sake con peace could be swapped out for pasta and was told no. This turned out to be some kind of stew...it was tasty but I knew I didn't like cous cous and there was a lot of it. I would nit get this again. My friend had the Fettuccine ai Funghi, which she liked. Bread was excellent, service was pretty good. The atmosphere is charming and inviting, music was low and unobtrusive which I appreciate. We are visiting nyc from dc and we have our favorite Italian restaurants in our area. Norma beat them all. Some of the best Italian I've had. Server was slightly green but we had multiple people come check on us during our meal and the staff went out of their way to greet and see us off with an Italian hello and farewell. Could not recommend this restaurant more. Typical nyc pricing. Great portion size. We had 4 pasta entrees, 2 salads, a soda, a beer and a glass of wine and the total came to $210. read more

I have always wanted to go to Italy but when I am at Norma, it feels like one step closer. It is hard to believe just about everything is imported from Sicily. You can feel not just the passion and love for the region, but also the passion and love for food in every bite, every detail of the restaurant. I adored the lighting - so warm and cozy, not too crowded or noisy. Our Vincenzo treated us like we were VIP, he took his time with recommendations, answering our questions and describing the origin of the restaurant, a sign of a restaurant who is eager to have a relationship with their locals! There are Italian restaurants, and then there's Norma. Just about anything they can import from Sicily, they do. The prosciutto and arugula pizza was delicious and make sure to dip some of the crust in olive oil- it's so flavorful. Cute new Sicilian spot in the neighborhood! Was walking to La Vera to grab a super casual and quick slice before work and I walked passed Norma - saw the sign that they were new and had to pop in! Front area is small and adorable with few seats at the bar and a few small 2 top tables by the window and door. Back dining area was nice and spacious. Extensive wine menu but didn't have time for anything except a pizza - got the Bresaola pizza and it did not disappoint! Good value for the size of pizza (I was expecting this to be a place where they price gouge you for a small tiny pizza) so I was very happy! I could've used a little citrus on the pizza for my liking but I may not be used to Sicilian flavors. Overall incredible quality of ingredients - the pizza had bresaola, arugula, sweet cherry tomatoes and a beautiful silky smooth strattiatella. The drizzle of extra virgin olive oil on top was a nice and necessary touch in addition to the crust! Will come back to get the full experience. This was a fun place to go to with a group. It is located in Turtle Bay. Unassuming place with very good food. The traditional Sicilian cuisine certainly lives up to its name. The first one opened in Murray Hill in 2015 and has expanded to include Norma in Hell's Kitchen in 2021. This is its latest venture - opened in 2024. You will fell like you are in Italy here! Everything was very good - form the pizza to the chicken to the salads - and of course, the wine! I was so thrilled they let us sit and talk since I hadn't seen my friends in quite some time! We ordered the burrata (good), the arugula salad (well dressed), the trenette al pomodoro (pasta cooked perfectly! Sauce was decent. Glad we ordered extra garlic since the sauce needed a little kick), and the pizza diavola was good. As mentioned in other reviews, the middle was mushy so I recommend asking for it cooked a little longer. The crust itself was chewy and tasty. Pizza napoletana - like the Margherita but with anchovies instead of basil. Very good except if you take a bite full of anchovy, then it's hella salty. But still very good. What a delicious meal. We started off with the stuffed artichoke, which was seasoned perfectly and paired well with the bread and oil. For mains, we split the buffalo mozzarella pizza and the busiate al pesto trapanese. The pizza was wonderful - great dough, and nice cook on it as well, though the very middle was a bit floppy. The pasta was interesting - nothing like l've ever had, but something I could definitely see myself ordering again. The space is cute, nicely decorated, though somewhat on the kitschy side of it. We started with Carciofo Ripieno - whole artichoke stuffed with bread crumbs, parmesan, garlic, parsley. The artichoke was big and a filled with a generous amount of bread crumbs, too generous. While I usually prefer my artichokes pure and only lightly marinated in the Roman style, the bolder Sicilian approach can either be excellent or result in an artichoke overwhelmed by too many bread crumbs and subpar Parmesan. Unfortunately, Norma's version leaned toward the latter, prompting us to try eating the artichoke leaves without the breadcrumb filling. They did not claim to prepare it with Parmigiano Reggiano or Grana Padano so it's fine. Reading the lovely, somewhat operatic, descriptions of dishes, with their Italian names, was on its own a real pleasure that triggered a cautious excitement. We considered continuing with the most iconic Sicilian pasta, Pasta alla Norma, named after the famous opera "Norma" by the Sicilian composer Vincenzo Bellini, but noticed the "Pasta con le Sarde a Timballo", another wonderful Sicilian classic. Described in the menu as "Durum flour Spaghetti alla Chitarra Setaro, fresh Portuguese sardine, wild fennel, pine nuts, raisins, saffron," it sounded like a one of the dishes that would be served to good people on their long trip to heaven and a real bargain (...alla chitarra, fresh sardines, pine nuts, safron...) at $27. However, what arrived was a heap of something shaped like a small flattened church dome, which neither looked like Spaghetti nor showed any signs of sardines. Before starting eating I called the waiter and explained that we had received the wrong dish and asked to correct the mistake. He assured me it was the correct dish. When I asked about the sardines, he replied, "inside", and vanished for the rest of the dinner, presumably embarrassed (another one showed up). I opened the dome shaped heap carefully with my fork, revealing a heap of Spaghetti, and tried to find the "fresh Portuguese sardines". There was no trace of sardines, and the taste suggested only unremarkable traces of fish, if at all it was a very small amount of possibly canned sardines, I am not sure about that due to less than minimal mass of it. There were no hints of "wild fennel" (really?) or saffron (really?). The timballo aspect was poor, if present at all. Where are my "fresh Portuguese sardines"? Out of disappointment, I would have compromised, on the spot, on any real sardines other than "Portuguese", but not on their freshness. I felt deceived. The Couscous con Pesce, described as "Sicilian organic durum semola slowly steamed, and Sicilian fish broth, with: Branzino, cod, calamari, mussels; cinnamon, tomato, almonds, parsley, flavored," sounded like another dish on the path to heaven. However, it was less impressive than portrayed on the menu but was good. The Rucola E Parmigiano salad was unremarkable although with large pieces of shaved Parmesan. The Tiramisu was okay. read more
