Service was slow (they seemed understaffed). I wish they had more hot vegetarian entrees that was beyond Mac and cheese. Everything else with protein was cold like lentil or quinoa salad. I would suggest a beyond burger or impossible burger it would make the entrees more filling and warm for vegetarians. read more

We ate here on July 8th, 2021. Located across the street from Cowgirl Creamery, in the old Pine Cone Diner building. Dining was outdoors on the patio. The menu was available outdoors, ordering was done inside, with food and drinks delivered to our table. I had fish and my husband had the pork belly BLT. Myself and my husband escaped to the coast from the Napa smoke on Wednesday and tried Side Street for the first time. It was excellent. We had the special which was some of the best roast chicken we've ever had served with yummy potatoes and 3 insanely delicious dipping sauces on the side as well as a little gem salad with buttermilk style dressing and a glass of pinot. The hubby and I decided to drive out to Point Reyes, my first trip and his first in a decade. We decided to give this place a go and we're very pleased with the choice. My husband really wanted a burger but, alas, that was not a menu option. He went with the ribeye sandwich and conceded it was better than the burger he had been craving. I opted for the Pork Belly Eggs Benedict. Awesome! I usually have to specify how I want poached eggs cooked and this time I forgot. This joint got them perfect. Definitely worth the drive. I'll start by stating that Side Street Kitchen is one of the only options in Pt. Reyes Station that's open during the in between lunch and dinner hours and is fantastic! Owned by the same people as Station House Cafe, you can expect some delicious food and great service. In a recent visit, I ordered quite a few things off the menu including my favorite, the McFarland Springs trout on a bed of local greens. The pickled vegtables, asparagus were also great little starters. There's a limited menu of drinks but, they get the job done too. I'd highly recommend swinging by here if you're passing through town between the hours of 3-5pm. read more

Lovely spot. We grabbed a late lunch in early December so it wasn't busy as it can be at more popular times. Vegetarian cassoulet had these divine fried soft tofu pieces - little clouds of yum. They also use flagolets and a larger buttery bean which was nice. The spicing was delicious and includes some greens. A big serving meant I had some for next day - or enough for 2 with a shared salad. My friend had pork belly out of curiosity because his first intro to that had been overwhelming - too rich to be enjoyable. This was on a nice bread not too large a slice and some pickles and other things to help cut the richness. They also have a glass & a half serving of wine - perfect to share when you know you'll be driving. The staff were all super nice & helpful. A bit pricey but to have that kind of quality in a small town is tough so worth supporting. read more

A great surprise! My wife had the quinoa salad, which was tasty, albeit need a touch more dressing. I had the tri-tip sandwich. I was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! The tri-tip was cooked perfectly, and the harissa aioli really added a nice nip to the meat and the portobello mushroom. 5 stars for the sandwich alone. Yum yum yum yum yum. Like, seriously, amazing. My partner and I came in here for dinner and were a bit nervous at first. It's an order-at-the-counter restaurant, but with slightly higher prices and a fancier menu than I'm used to when ordering at the counter. Still, we picked out a few main dishes and small plates to try. As soon as the food came out, we knew we had chosen a good place to eat. The pickled vegetables were amazing: tart and refreshing. I absolutely could not get enough of the little pink cauliflowers. The Brussels sprouts were just as good! Brussels sprouts are hard to get right, so we were worried they would be bitter. They were not. They were totally flawless: roasted to perfection, savory, with cheese, and a little sweet on the inside. I had a tri-tip sandwich unlike any I'd ever had before. Being from the Central Coast, I usually prefer my tri-tip sandwich with barbecue sauce and nothing else. But this sandwich had so much going on, it opened my eyes up to whole new tri-tip flavors. There was feta, and mushroom, and I believe an aioli that was just the right amount of sweet with the smoky, tender tri-tip? Anyway, I'll be dreaming about this meal for a while to come. The Good: Nice outdoor seating and good staff. Prices were pretty good. The areas of concern: The rotisserie chicken had too many different spices that conflicted. The yukon potatoes were overly complex in their spice mix as well and both had a bit too much salt. Had to set them aside as I did after my first few bites of chicken. After our long Tomales point hike along the gorgeous Tomales bay, we decided to have dinner on new year's eve at Side Street in Point Reyes station and we were so happy that we made that choice. Side street had a very easy-going ambience. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. They patiently helped us with all of our questions in the menu. We ended up ordering the beets and green salad, the heirloom bean cassoulet, a masala chai, a local fort point red ale and a dark chocolate pudding. The food was very soulful. The ingredients were simple and cooked to perfection making them very delicious. It was like a perfect medley of food. Coupled with a neat, clean and beautiful presentation, the food appealed to all our senses. We recommend this place to anyone visiting point Reyes station and is a lover of well cooked, tasty and wholesome food. read more

Stumbled upon this great "kitchen"! We drove up from Mill Valley with a dog and were turned away by places we had eaten at before in our travels (sans dog). We will be back here! Half chicken is succulent, broccoli is delicious! The bite size portion of pasta salad was fantastic! For a small town resto, the price was a bit pricey for sandwiches which at first surprised at ($12 for a veggie baguette, $15-17 for pork and trip tip sandwiches) but after tasting it, we decided it was worth it! Lovely food and delightful service. So glad to see this place has opened up with such panache. I had a yummy chicken salad, my mother smoked trout appetizer, and my sister the chicken dish with potatoes and three sauces. Everything had great flavor and presentation.
