A big group of us had just come down from hiking Tomales point and were trying to get a table at the pizza place, but there was a 45 minute outdoor wait and it was freezing. Someone suggested Side Street Kitchen instead, because they had 4.5 stars on Yelp and said they would be able to seat us immediately. We really appreciated their efforts to accommodate all of us sitting together. They didn't have any tables inside big enough for 11 people, so they turned on a heat lamp and brought out two big propane heaters so we could sit on their patio picnic table. The menu was a delight, and the food came out very quickly-which was great because I was famished from the hike. It was ALL delicious. We practically ordered one of everything, and whatever we ordered came out fresh and loaded with flavor. In particular, their deserts were superb. The butterscotch pudding was the best pudding I've ever had! The staff were also very kind and attentive. They did they their best to accommodate us and make sure we had a good meal. I highly recommend this little cafe to hikers, travelers, and fellow pudding-lovers everywhere. read more

This place is a little gem. Everything fresh and made with love. Eclectic funky menu has something for everyone, whether a side of something green or a unique sunday brunch configuration. A former truck stop, it's been redesigned to keep vestiges of the past with stools and booths but has a contemporary feel. My absolutely favorite treat is the Butterscotch pudding from scratch - as good as any I've had anywhere. Walk around the town, hit the book store, buy some Cheese at Cowgirl - and then go across the street to Side Street and have something delicious! read more

Finally made it to SSK - we live close by and dine in Pt. Reyes often. Wanted to love it but I was disappointed on several levels. Pros: -The dining room is very pleasant. It was too cold to sit outside today but the outdoor area looks lovely for a warmer day. -The food was tasty. Cons: -I am used to West Marin prices but felt that SSK portions were quite small and the price was quite high for what we got. -The vegetable hash was really not a hash - it was a tiny bed of spinach or some type of green with an egg on top surrounded by a few mushrooms, a few tomatoes and 3 arranged slices of potato. It was more of a deconstructed hash and the portion was very small. My hubby was still hungry after cleaning the plate. -Same experience with the tri tip sandwich. The meat was tender but there was a slab of cheese that took away from the taste of the meat, and it was a very small sandwich with a few slices of pickles on the plate - no greens, or potato. Again, tasted good but I was still hungry after eating it. We aren't those people who like quantity over quality - but it was not a cheap lunch and we were left hungry after. They need to either lower their prices or increase the portions. As it stands today I'll compliment them on the tastiness of the food but don't feel I'd come back. read more

We had the Grains & Beets- (toasted bulgur, farro, white corn, radishes, baby kale, avocado) and the Heirloom Bean Cassoulet (baby kale, sweet butter, fried tofu, green onions, breadcrumbs). The grains and beets was very fresh but I wasn't blown away by flavor. But a great healthy dish. I loved the bean cassoulet and I would definitely get it again. I did not expect when I walked into this small diner looking place to be so amazed! From the moment I walked in I was surprised by the urban design style, beautiful bursts of color around, and cozy feel to the point where I think everyone who worked there greeted me. The menu appeared simple, but the food exiting the kitchen, you'd swear came from some where with table cloths! I ordered the brat, and when I tell you the flavors and taste profile, as well as presentation of the food was perfect. Even down to the little mustard seeds on the side of my dish as their own refined style of brat & mustard. The sauerkraut was perfect, and served on top of lentils, which turned my what I thought would be a cheat meal :) into a very well rounded and clean dish. After a 5-mile hike on a beautiful day by the ocean, I'm glad I was hungry! This restaurant is nothing short of spectacular. If you are in town take a seat! read more

This place is amazing. Although they were out of some menu items we wanted, we enjoyed a beautifully executed salmon entree and possibly the most delicious pork belly sandwich ever. My family and I just tried Side Street Kitchen for the first time. We're staying in Pt Reyes for the weekend and were looking for a new food option besides the usual suspects of Station House Cafe and Stelline, without having to drive too far and spend a lot of money. Side Street fit the bill with a lovely environment, great service, and top-notch food. It's open for dinner until 8 pm with a range of sandwiches, salads, and mains. I had the whole trout, which is a great deal--tasty and extremely filling, almost enough for 2. We also tried the vegetarian sandwich, the tri-tip salad, and the pork belly sandwich, as well as the pickle plate. Everything was excellent and reasonably priced considering the quality. I hadn't really noticed this place before, but was motivated to try it because there was a long line in the Cowgirl Creamery place across the street, & they have a nice outside patio. Limited menu, which is fine because there was nice variety - everything from oysters, to salads to tri-tip sandwiches. I had smoked oysters & brussels sprouts (I know, weird combo). Smoked oysters were the best I've ever had. Admittedly, I've only ever had them canned before this. Naturally, fresh ones were much bigger & plumper, & lacked that "can" flavor. I thought the taste of the sea shone through (though not as much as in raw oysters). It's $9 for just 3, but they are quite large. Brussels sprouts were sprinkled with parmesan & roasted to carmelized deliciousness. Topped it off with a nice cider, but they had some nice wine selections too (cider is a better option for mean when I'm really thirsty after hiking). Cute little spot with quality items and friendly staff. Came here with our brand new baby and enjoyed an afternoon meal with our baby on the patio. We were welcomed as new parents which was great since this was our first outing out of the house and naturally we were a bit anxious. It was California casual with local fare like Cowgirl Creamery and other fresh organic items. Our meal was a progressive and innovative cassoulet and the Mt. Tam baguette with some white wine. Amazing!!! From the moment we walked in. The staff is so welcoming and kind. We came a little late and the other 3 restaurants in Point Reyes were closing. We ordered from their outstanding menu, BBQ oysters, 1/2 chicken, Kids quesadilla's, both the cheese and Chicken, quinoa and a bunch of fresh locally grown sautéed vegetables, broccoli and butter lettuce salad. This place seriously needs to pop up in the top few when visitors to Pt Reyes type in "vegetarian" ... we went to another option last evening, a seafood focused place at a "resort" on Sir Francis Drake - total meh! We decided to check this new place out when we saw it while roaming the town of Pt Reyes Station and it's perfect for what we look for in an eatery - lovely veggie options (roasted asparagus! fried brussels sprouts! quinoa salad chock full of bleu cheese! arrgh!), unpretentious and super friendly service. My Mr's a vegetarian and I'm trying it on this month - this is a place we'll be back to on future visits to West Marin. yum! read more

A wonderful addition to Point Reyes. When we arrived midday on a Saturday, there was a line out the door, but don't let that deter you as it went fast! Two of us ordered the rotisserie chicken and potatoes (cooked to perfection) with salsa verde (loved); fried brussel sprouts (crunchy and delicious); gem salad (fantastic and light); pork belly lettuce and tomato (almost everyone seemed to order this and for good reason -- it's rich and decadent and special); apple fritters (not too sweet, like your grandma made em); and the excellent DOCG prosecco from the best region in Italy. Everything tasted clean, fresh, and local!! We left full of energy for a gorgeous day in West Marin. read more

Always the friendliest and nicest service and a darned good meal. I always have the roast chicken w potatoes and it's always spot on.

We paid $100 for food and drinks, including $4.33 for a glass of cold milk. The staff refused to warm the milk saying it comes from the refrigerator and it cannot be placed into the microwave to be heated. Uh, what does that mean? When we told the staff the warm milk was for a 1 year old and a 2 year old, they just smiled and shrugged their shoulders. Thanks for the service. read more
