We were delighted when this location opened, because we'd fallen in love with their donuts in Del Mar. Sadly, this spot's star is fading and it no longer lives up to the hype or premium prices. While some donuts are indeed delicious, others are not even as good as one of the many mom and pop hole in the wall places. Customer service is also uneven; some employees are friendly but others are impatient, curt, and seem to not like donuts or people. In addition to the hit or miss food and service, the outdoor patio (the only available seating) is always dirty, and the small parking lot can be surprisingly challenging. Overall, it's worth at least one visit, especially if you're from out of town and want to try our upscale donut scene. For us as locals, we've had enough "meh" visits here that it's no longer in our regular rotation.

National Doughnut Day

Happy National Donut Day! Love the product, the taste, the flavors, and most of all the crew working to bring you the best premium donut experience! It's like magic every time I step foot in the door. Ordered the half dozen: 1. Blueberry Cheesecake is Divine 2. The Maple Bacon for something Savory Sweet 3 Apple Fritter My taste buds thanks you Sidecar! Yes, I am a little obsessed with this place but it is so worth it!

Oh snap I'm glad this place isn't that close to me. If it were I'd be 400lbs because I'd be here on the daily....it's that good! They are super friendly and the place is very clean. The app has a lot of fun perks too. I got a bitter and salt donut and it was so fluffy and fresh.

This is a day after National Donut Day and seems like the Donuts were already bought up from yesterday. Although there was not much selection, I chose the six-pack at $29. Although it's more than I usually pay for donuts, I wanted to try these donuts just for the experience. Later in the day, I tried the old tashioned, which was super heavy in weight and seemed to fill me up on my first bite. I would say these donuts are the opposite of Krispy Cream and have worth their weight in dough. Service was just average, but the line flowed fairly quickly. There is patio dining and a Howling Ray's right next door. If you plan your day just right, you can have breakfast and lunch, back to back!

Ok, my favorite doughnut store making its debut in the 626! Was so excited to see Sidecar pop up in Pasadena - I used to drive to Costa Mesa and Fairfax just to get my hands on these doughnuts!! Although the location isn't the best, you can easily find street parking and walk over - or you can park in the tiny lot shared with Howlin' Rays if you are lucky. Doughnuts are always baked fresh, love that they are constantly changing, pairing up with other places, and having new cream top doughnuts for me to try. Overall, workers have been relatively friendly. Love my staples - but also a huge fan of their blueberry, lemon, celebration. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I will be back soon for sure! A few spots inside but you are more likely to find a table in the outdoor patio area.

Sidecar is my absolute favorite donut place--ever since I tried it, I literally cannot go back to regular donuts. They have a couple of locations around LA, but my local go-to is Pasadena. The vibe is so relaxed and the staff is always super friendly. You can't go wrong here, but my absolute favorite donut of all time is their Celebration Cake. 10/10

Dangerously delicious, proceed with caution. Cute aesthetic spot with some indoor and outdoor seating for a casual and quick treat/coffee. We arrived 10 minutes before closing and still had all of the options. Service is decent. The Apple Pan 10/10 (I believe it was seasonal, but OMG it was the perfect amount of sweetness, creamy, flaky, all the textures, and all the goodness you could ever want) Banana Bread Latte 9/10 My husband had the "old-fashion" and enjoyed it, my kids ate "the cookies and crème". Nothing went to waste :)

By far, Sidecar's huckleberry is the best donut I've eaten in my whole life. Their donuts are so elevated, aesthetic and tasty. Why huckberry?? Not too sweet. Perfect mix of tart and sweet Theres a crisp from the deep fried exterior, while its airy and moist on the interior Theres berries in the donut batter too! Make sure to sign up for their rewards program on their app as you get a free donut on your birthday! I went after work on a Thursday and there was a small line. It did take awhile to get to the front. Parking was difficult too since they share their parking with Howlin' Rays.

Very good donuts and friendly service. At $5 a donut I did expect a little more. Tried the apple fritter (Friday only), strawberry buttermilk and an old fashioned. Apple fritter was by far the best one for me. The other two were fine but seemed a little "crumbly" for me. Not the soft, light and "doughy" consistency that one expects from a doughnut. Definitely worth a try and would go back when in the neighborhood.

Maple Pecan, one of their best sweet limiteds

Somehow I think I'm more of a regular at this donut shop than anywhere else (except maybe coffee). I was so happy when they opened in Pasadena cause I wanted it, but absolutely did not want to drive to Santa Monica for donuts. Overall, I love their raised donuts and don't like the cake donuts as much. Some have been good (pumpkin cheesecake and huckleberry), others have been meh and have kind of the same flavor across... flavors (jalapeño cornbread). Most of the ones I've tried I like a lot with only a few being mid or outright awful (only the Dubai chocolate). The eggs benedict donut is a masterpiece, with a perfectly runny egg inside the fried dough puff. The maple pecan limited was really delicious, one of my favorite sweet donuts from Sidecar. Service is good and I even received a voucher for a couple free donuts when the ones I wanted were out. The best is catching a fresh, hot batch. Cute little shop with a little bit of both indoor and outdoor seating. Will continue getting my donuts here!

The vegan strawberry matcha donut.
Christina C.

I've been trying avoid sugar, but I got tempted to peek a look at the vegan offering today. They have one vegan option and today it was a strawberry matcha cake donut. I tried to resist, being my indecisive and squirrelly self, and slowly tried to leave the store. Then Levi, the donut angel, just gave me one to try. I was caught off guard by her generosity and kindness, but gratefully took the donut. After all, it's not everyday people give you free donuts. I took one bite, just to taste it, but in a few minutes the whole thing vanished into by belly. It was amazing. Not too sweet, moist inside, frosty strawberry-glazed outside, matcha-y perfection. I guess my sugar-free life has ended. Then again, no one ever died saying, "I'm glad I was a skinny witch who didn't eat sugar." Free parking lot, check. Restrooms, check. Coffee, check. Awesome staff, check. Good vibes, check.

(+) huckleberry (+) maple bacon Yay sidecar is in Pasadena! My favorite is the huckleberry donut because of the sweetness and how it has a tang but sweet from the berry taste. These doughnuts are more on the cakey side than light and fluffy. I prefer both but these are the best cakey doughnuts. They share parking lot with howlin rays, which means when Howlin rays is open, the parking is limited. There is parking on arroyo parkway. These are the best doughnuts in the area. There are other locations in Santa Monica and Costa Mesa to name a few

They serve breakfast, pastries, coffee and tea (hot/cold) drinks. Their coffee bar is centrally positioned that offers a 360 degree view of the lobby. Seats were very comfortable with a relaxing atmosphere. I ordered an Iced Coffee ($3.27). And it was simple in taste and in appearance but refreshing nonetheless. Service was spot on. Staff was affable and competent. Prices are fair. Offers free wifi and street parking. What captivating for me was their interior design because it kinda reflected that of your own living room with flat screen tv, bookshelves, bar stool, love chair, sofa and a coffee table. Overall, I had a nice experience and somewhat enjoyed my iced coffee; I really like their chill living room vibe. I still recommend this coffee shop.

If you're looking for a cozy, screen free coffee hangout that feels personal and social friendly…read morespace Two Kids is the spot. We'll definitely be back! It's small and cozy, but that just adds to the charm and creates this intimate, relaxing vibe. Highlights Great public parking behind the shop. The service is fantastic and the two guys that I met were genuinely friendly and makes you feel welcome right away. The shop has a sign saying no laptops inside, and honestly, I loved it. It turns the place into a true social space where people actually talk to each other instead of staring at screens. The seating is thoughtfully arranged facing the windows, so beautiful natural sunlight pours in and gives everything such a warm, uplifting feel. They make their own oat milk in-house, and it makes such a difference our drinks tasted absolutely delicious, rich and smooth. The whole place just has great vibes all around.

The crisp taste of well-brewed coffee and chai is refreshing. (Important: Cash is not accepted. Bring card or contactless payment. Also, this is a "Laptop Free Establishment." They have no available electrical outlets and no customer internet.) I arrived at Two Kids (South Pasadena) on Tuesday (around 12:28PM). Parking is free and available. Two Kids (South Pasadena) is located across from South Pasadena City Hall. There's a competitive, free lot in the rear; it's a "4 Hour Parking Limit." Also, there's available, competitive free street parking. Staff is very mellow, professional, and respectful. Staff politely answered all my questions, and Staff felt very low stress. This location is surprisingly popular, and Staff easily breaks into friendly conversation. My drink took about three minutes. As mentioned, I ordered the Espresso w/ Milk & Chai ($6.75 - Iced). The drink is very underwhelming, but it's 1000% better than any chain coffee joint. The Espresso w/ Milk & Chai had a light enduring caffeine, and its flavor is very basic and simple. I would not drive a long distance for these drinks, but if I lived in the immediate area, this business is an easy spot to incorporate into a daily routine. It's affordable and good enough. On ambiance, Two Kids (South Pasadena) happily embraces its "just good enough" features. It lacks many basic amenities; there's no restroom, no customer internet, and no electrical outlets. They proudly have MANY little signs proclaiming how it's a "laptop free establishment." The location is also small; there's about two counter tables and three tiny stool tables. However, Two Kids (South Pasadena) is comfortable. I especially appreciated the air purifier and the strong ventilation. The place felt airy and refreshing. Also, the stereo system is very clear and with chill music. They even had one tiny bottle of hand sanitizer by the counter. It's also very animal friendly since I saw customers walk inside with their dogs on the leash. Overall, Two Kids (South Pasadena) feels built to serve the local community. It's not an impressive spot, but there's glimpses of passion for locals. If you live nearby Two Kids (South Pasadena), I recommend. It's not bad at all. 4.3 out of 5

The popcorn chicken, fried tofu, and orange green tea are what I usually order. They make those very consistently so you know what to expect. It gets busy here when school kids are hanging out but if you are outside of those windows, it doesn't take too long. Service ranges from friendly to standard, so no complaints there. The one issue I have with them is they show a loyalty program in terms of entering your phone number -- if you order online as well as the register. But I've never gotten any points. I once asked the owner about it and he claimed that they do in fact give out items, and said he would check on it that night when I told him the situation. But he never actually asked my name and info, and I've still never received any points since, despite having ordered here about twice a week for the past several weeks. It's not a deal breaker but it's strange.

The Build: I ordered the banana cream matcha, which features a rich matcha base with standard oat milk, topped with a heavenly layer of banana cream and tiny, mysterious crunchy pieces. The Flavor Profile: Taste-wise, the drink was absolutely heavenly. The matcha itself was wonderfully rich, and mixing in the banana cream took it to the next level, while the crunchy toppings added a really nice occasional texture. The only real letdown was the size, the cup was just so tiny for an $8 price tag. Even though the flavors were incredible, it felt a bit hard to justify the steep cost for such a small portion. The Verdict: While the major price tag means this won't be an everyday habit, the solid flavors and super fast, friendly service make it a perfect spot for a little treat every once in a while. The staff had my drink out almost instantly around 10 AM on a Tuesday, and since I live so close, I'll definitely be back occasionally when I want to spoil myself.
