Drinks are meh. Nothing super impressive. Ordered the old fashioned (one smoked and one not smoked.) the smoked one was watered down and not near as good as the non smoked. Definitely overpriced for what it was. We went across the street after and had the best old fashion in town for half the price. We got the jumbo shrimp. It was fine. $5 a shrimp. Finally an amazing cocktail bar in SCV! Small, but might, Sidecar Market packs a punch. Speakeasy entrance next to The Old Town Junction (same owners), it's a fun transition from art gallery into cocktail bar. You're greeted upon entering and seated promptly for your cocktail experience. It is just that, a full experience, with a massive drink menu of cocktails and spirits. However, it doesn't end there, a full kitchen packs full entrees and appetizers to keep your party satisfied on both ends. We had dinner before we arrived, but still ordered the duck fat grilled cheese appetizer per the bartenders recommendation. I did not partake sadly, but my party was very satisfied. As for the main attraction, the cocktails were stunning! Crafted with care and love, each one over delivered. My favorite, the Smokey Old Fashioned! Try more than one and Lyft because they are boozy. So excited to try Sidecar Market tonight, the new speakeasy that opened this week next to the Junction on Main Street. It did not disappoint! After entering the small "storefront" that features custom knives and art on the walls, all available for purchase, you are guided through a door hidden in the wall into the restaurant. The room is cozy with moody green walls, gold accents and old framed photos and mirrors on the wall. There is a large bar on one side with about 15 stools and a long leather banquette with about 6 tables on the other. The drinks were very good with the classics but we were really impressed with the food. Chef Otto, who is also the chef at the Junction, has created a nice menu featuring everything from small bites, such as olives and almonds, to beef tenderloin. The service was attentive but not rushed and our server was wonderful. The Sidecar is a great addition to Newhall and different than anything we currently have in SCV. It really felt like you were in LA, without the drive. It was also nice to see people dress up a little, although we saw some casual attire as well. It will definitely became a popular spot and it is intimate so make reservations on Open Table. The bar was pretty busy at 6:30 and the only negative was that it was a little loud and hard to hear in there. Maybe they can add some acoustic tiles to the ceiling to soften the noise. I'm so thrown off by all the five star reviews, so I'm going to ignore them and get real. First off, I'm a foodie. I love good food and have an appreciation for nice places that have expensive menus. Secondly, I'm a big fan of a well-executed speak easy, and the layout of Sidecar is well done. The mood was a bit strange when we walked in because they don't have their spiel down yet, so it was forgivably off putting. We had reservations for the bar, and we were sat at a table - a very, very small table. The drink menu is fun and a tad on the expensive side for SCV. We ordered some drinks which were delicious. The food menu is very small, and if you're vegan, forget about it. We ordered some appetizers which were expensive and easily replicated for a few dollars at Trader Joe's. The shrimp cocktail was $30 and had only five shrimp. Yes...five. The other menu items were so grossly overpriced that we were afraid to order. A $125 5oz steak? In Newhall? Ummm, guys, you're gonna need to adjust that. We were asked three different times by as many people if we were ordering, so we felt rushed - that sucked. The table was so small that they had to remove the floral arrangement to provide the order. Oh, and water costs extra. The dress code requirements according to online sources was cocktail attire or business casual, and yet the place was full of folks in shorts and flip flops. It killed the sexiness and charm fast. I'm sad to write this - I was very much looking forward to an exciting review. I don't like being disappointed. Husband and I went for our anniversary. Enjoyed the skit in the beginning. Something new. Why not? Place was small and dark. Live music that really set the tone of the place. First off, we are huge speakeasy fans! We don't mind paying more for the drink with the "show" of them making it. That part was lacking. It is a rather new place, so I hope they add the extra speakeasy touches to justify the $22 price tag. Add the costume and dim the lights; enforce the dress code and have people speak in hushed tones, all the fun parts of the speakeasy! Very disappointing experience. The food and drinks were overpriced and we were unhappy with all three menu items we ordered -- the grilled cheese had no discernable cheese and the fib jam made the bread soggy; the burrata salad was very small and the red pepper overpowered the rest of it; and the shrimp cocktail sauce on the jumbo shrimp cocktail was too spicy to enjoy. We ordered three different cocktails -- Black Manhattan, The Signature, and Holla Back Sazerac -- and they were all just OK. The Black Manhattan and Signature were $22 each and the Sazerac was $19 -- pretty steep prices for Santa Clarita. I didn't feel the speakeasy ambience I was expecting. Won't be back! Last night was my third time at this place. The times before were great- Friendly staff, no issues. But last night we came in at 6:30 (had a reservation), was sat at our table, then they asked us to move to the bar around 8:30. That was fine. Over this time I had two drinks- and at 10:30 I tried to order a third and the manager told us she couldn't serve us anymore. I had two drinks over the span of four hours (and water) why would she cut us off? We weren't doing anything wrong! I think the problem was that I am white and my date is black and he kissed me once. Racist establishment - won't be back and I will discourage others to avoid this racist place. read more

I made this reservation with my coworkers about 2 weeks ago ..for an after outings with the girls when our office Xmas party was done . Got there at 5 checked in and the racist staff said they would not be serving us drinks because I guess some people in our party were loud or too happy ,the manager and staff were so rude and it's the holidays !!! We were dressed to the nines I guess to much for Santa Clarita and maybe to many off us were the wrong skin color we are all educated and have degrees and I'm pretty positive the the staff there does not... racism is not cool in 2024 read more

The food is delicious but it's super super LOUD in this place and the drinks are outrageously priced. $24.00 for a smoked old fashion ! Insane. we aren't in DTLA! WOW! The service was fine and friendly but hey you can go next door to The Junction and get the same drinks for like 2-4 dollars less. This is a welcome surprise and add to the SCV. The speakeasy design is great and the inside, albeit small and noisy, is beautifully decorated. We made reservations for a Friday night and we're seated promptly by the very friendly door staff. We were sat at a very small table for two, uncomfortably adjacent to another couple, but this is a speakeasy after all. Next time, we'll reserve the bar seating which is more spacious and entertaining. First, the good...The drinks are well-crafted and impressive. The food is tasty, but needs more variety. The bad...Service is slow and not well-timed. The portions do not match the price, and don't put pate' on a charcuterie board, please! We'll be back for sure--this is a fun experience! read more

We really wanted to like this place. We were so excited to go. We followed the dress code rules to get into the ambiance. We had to wait outside the door for the group ahead of us to be checked in. Right off the bat we were brought into the lobby where artwork, wine and handmade knives were offered for sale. A bit odd to have a sales pitch upon walking into a speakeasy? The girls working there were pleasant but it was a bit off putting. The interior of the place is attractive and the seating is very comfortable. The cocktails in my opinion are too pricey for the Santa Clarita Valley. These are prices I would expect in Manhattan or Downtown Los Angeles. The glassware is lovely. The drinks were very good. Our biggest problem was shortly after getting our cocktails we were peppered by several different people about ordering. We just wanted to settle in and enjoy our drinks not be pestered to order as if there was a time limit. It felt uncomfortable and rushed. The food menu is limited and very pricey for what is offered. The grilled cheese was completely misrepresented. It was basically fig jam and sweet onion spread. I could barely detect any cheese. How hard is it to make a gourmet style grilled cheese? The shrimp cocktail at 30 dollars had 5 very large shrimp, not really worth the money. The cocktail sauce was good but very spicy. The Burrata salad was overpowered by the red peppers. It overshadowed the cheese and tomato completely. Actually I don't even know if there was tomato in it. Our group did share tastes and we all agreed it would not be a place we would return to.
