Great iced coffees. Bacon egg and cheese sandwiches are good but recently they have cut back on amount of bacon they used to pile on.

Sidewalk is a pretty great local place. I LOVE their breakfast sandwiches. I usually get a bacon, egg, and cheese on either a HUGE bagel or a wrap and both are equally amazing. So much egg and cheese - perfect! Downside to these, is that everyone goes to get them at the same time and the line is awfulllll...if you get there are the right (or I guess wrong) time, you could wait in line (outside) for 15-20min. I would recommend calling ahead. Pizza is REALLY cheesy so if you want a ton of cheese you should get pizza here. It's a good price, just an inch of cheese on my pizza is even too much for me and I love the stuff. Sandwiches are good also, but I usually only go for breakfast. The iced coffees are good, but they put so much ice in them, you end up paying for an overpriced cup of ice. Great flavors/taste, but not worth the price. Overall, my experience with Sidewalk has been great and I say it's worth a try. Nice to have a little local place like this in the area. Southie definitely needs more quality corner stores like this one! Just remember to call ahead :) read more

Changing my review, because I've had different people making my iced coffee, and the new people seem to be pretty darn good. Good coffee. Good bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches on a bagel. Haven't had too much else there. After walking by this place countless times en route to the park with my dog, I finally stopped in and grabbed a pizza for dinner. I got the margarita pizza, which is described on the menu as having fresh buffalo mozzerella and fresh basil- it had neither of these. The tomatoes were a little on the sparse side. All in all the pizza here has some potential (it still tasted decent), next time I'll ask them to cook it a few extra minutes and ask for extra toppings. And if I ever walk by on a morning and there isn't a long line down the block, I'll give their highly rated coffee a whirl. read more

Awesome coffee- love their mocha drinks. Great sandwiches - definitely taste better if you eat them right away though since they can get soggy if you leave them in the tin foil for a while. Usually a line out the door on weekend mornings since the place is really small but they really work fast and it's never usually too long of a wait. read more

Sidewalk is a great place for breakfast sandwiches. If you're comparing them to fast food places they have the benefit of being made with real food and are delicious. The iced coffee is also pretty good although sometimes can be a little watery. Depends who is making it. There are a couple of downsides... on weekends the line is out the door unless you go early... and they charge you 50 cents to use a credit card. So now a few suggestions: go early (before 9:30), call ahead and bring cash. read more

Seriously my favorite breakfast place ever. I used to live right across the street so it was easy to go, but now that I have moved to Charlestown, I still go frequently on weekends. I usually get a large iced snickerdoodle coffee (to die for) and a ham egg and cheese on an everything bagel. Everything is cooked fresh to order and the cheese is melted perfectly. Their breakfast sandwiches are delicious. I ordered the sausage, egg, and cheese on an English muffin. The English muffin was huge! I was surprised that they use real eggs, not the liquid kind (It was a nice surprise). I will definitely go back. My only complaint is the blueberry muffins, they tasted like Sara Lee. I (as well as a few of my friends) are 100% convinced their coffee has NO caffeine. While their coffees are tasty and well priced for their sizes, they have no caffeine! Also the styrofoam cups need to go. read more

Sidewalk is a truly wonderful local place. My mom loves their coffee which is very reasonably priced. I'm not a coffee drinker but I love having their raspberry lime rickey in the summer. Their pizza is really good and they always have fast service. Just taking away one star since they only take cash, just a little inconvenient sometimes. read more

I've been a loyal Sidewalk Cafe customer for over 6 years until now. I have found their work ethic, personnel and pricing to be sorely lacking. When I've called in and picked up orders, the customer service has been horrible. They have never been friendly. They basically could give a crap that you are giving them business. Picking up your food is not a pleasant experience. Not only are the staff there unfriendly and miserable, the teens hanging outiside and inside are annoying and obviously bad for business. A perfect of example of Sidewalk Cafe's failing was an occasion where I waited at the restaurant for forty minutes for a pizza only to find out that the delivery guy had taken my pizza. After being told this, a girl told me "do you want us to make you another one?". She said this with little interest and\or concern that I might be upset. I told her "no" and left the restaurant. I get that mistakes can happen but there wasn't any offer for a free pizza or any type of accountability or apology. And as others on this forum have alluded to, the $1.50 inconvenience as a charge for using their own ATM is ridiculous. Not allowing credit cards and nickel and diming customers for those that don't have cash is yet another reason why this a place to be avoided. Is summary Sidewalk Cafe is run by amateurs.Mostly teenage employees who think little of customer support or getting orders correct. The prices are high and the service is low. I wouldn't give them my business nor could I recommend them in good conscience. If you don't want to wait a long time, be taken advantage in the wallet and wonder if they will ever get your order right I would give Sidewalk Cafe a wide berth. Don't let Sidewalk ruin your opinion of Southie eateries. There's plenty of other options! read more

Best coffee in Southie, hands-down (the large is really large, like mega-slurpie large. Be prepared) Best egg sandwich in Southie Plain pizza is delicious (plain large is under $10) I haven't had many of the lunch sandwiches but I have a hard time branching out when I find stuff I really like on a menu. Also, I've been going here for over 3 years, and the line on the weekends tells you something: it's really good and call ahead, it helps. Lastly, they're cash only, and one time the ATM was down when I stopped in for a couple of slices. The owner told me to not worry about it, and gave me the slices. If you like burnt pizza and rude service that over-charges, then this is the place for you. I have had one good pizza from this place, but two out of three have been burned. On top of that, the last time I ordered I was overcharged by $6, with only attitude from the counter staff when I ask about it. When the coffee is good, I love it! Best coffee I've ever had, and even worth the ridiculous cost. I go there a lot as I live nearby, but occasionally I have one of the rude teen staff members who water it down, or just make it completely wrong. I've had to send it back a few times. This doesn't bother me, but as for the food... I used to be in love with their food. However, the last three times I have ordered calzones from there, I've gotten food poisoning. The first time I figured it was a fluke. The second time coincidental. But by the third time I knew something was up. There has not been a fourth time as I no longer buy food there. Like many people have said, their coffee and breakfast sandwiches are great! I decided to switch it up and stopped in to grab dinner and some bakery treats, and I'm kicking myself for not branching out sooner. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl and got a slice of their banana bread and both were out of this world! The chicken teriyaki came with really flavorful rice and was loaded with vegetables (that were not overcooked - nice!), all in a super tasty sauce. I thought the portions were totally reasonable, which is one of the things I like about this place; the prices are really fair for what you get! The banana bread was also really flavorful and moist, and I think it would be awesome the next day toasted as well. Mine didn't last that long but I will definitely be coming back to test my hypothesis. All of the bakery items looked amazing and from what I understand they have a new pastry chef so I'm psyched to try out the other pastries! The experience overall was good as usual. It's a straightforward local joint, perfect for when you want something simple but good. The service is fast and I always feel like I get my money's worth. It's cash only but the ATM makes that a nonissue for me, since using cash is a simple way to support a local business. read more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sidewalk!!!!! Driving by one day and saw the line and figured i would try it out........Coffee was perfect and the sandwich was to die for!!!!! The staff was so friendly and helpful......now I am hooked on sidewalk!! I see some complaints about the line.....for the amount of people these girls deal with on weekends maybe we could cut them some slack....anyplace that is worth going to will have a line....thats life Also just had a calzone and deli sub delivered last night.....They were both excellent!!!!!!!! disappointing! food and service were poor. I called ahead for pick up and a 20 minute wait ended up being over 40 minutes...no apology, no nothing. The women just stared at me when I said that it had been over 40 mins...wake up, blondie! My food order was across the menu and it was all bad...italian sub, a panini, chicken buffalo sandwich, and a pasta dinner (chicken, ziti and broccoli). The sub was tiny, the panini was drenched in butter, the buffalo sandwich had nothing but chicken in it (they forgot to put tomatoes, lettuce, etc), and the chicken ziti broccoli was a soup. The chicken finger appetizers were even bad...how can you mess up chicken fingers? It was a horrible experience and will never eat there again. I'm pretty sure I would starve before I ate there again. HORRIBLE service, HORRIBLE food. 1 star was for remembering the sweet and sour sauce. read more

Food is good, but the people who work there suck. The service is awful and the people are very rude. 2.5 hour delivery time and when you call to ask what the status is with your food they give a lot of attitue. The pizza came ice cold and when I called to ask for a refund or a new pizza the woman was extremely rude and explained that I was told it was going to be a long wait and inferred that I should have expected my pizza to be cold. I would have ordered for pick up considering I only live a few blocks away, (making the two hour wait even more rediculous) but they only except credit cards when you order delivery. I did not have any cash on me and did not want to take a drive to my bank or pay the fee at their in store ATM. I normally would never write reviews like this, but I have had several bad experiences here. Its unfortunate because the food is good but its not worth the hastle or the aggrevation of dealing with the staff. I've lived in Southie for a long time now. Have wanted a good call-in delivery pizza for years. Always tolerated what came to the door at best. But, now, so thrilled last night to have a great pizza-place to call. (It started when I saw the delivery guy stand at the door and hand the pizza to a mother holding her infant....I thought,'Well, new mothers probably have a reliable judgement on what might make for a good meal delivered. I had a Cobb Salad that looked too good to be true for the price and it tasted even better (fresh greens, crisp veggies and perfectly grilled fresh chicken tenders! The freshly brewed coffee and freshly baked cookies which hit you with their pleasant smells when you walk in were also absolute delights at a reasonable price. Seeing respected brands like Boar's Head and Kinnealey for real meats makes you feel good if you favor cold cuts. Overall, a must-go place if you are in town. I hope they keep it up! read more

Sidewalk cafe has excellent food and if you catch them at their best, it can be a great overall experience for takeout. The one complaint I have about this place is their inability to serve takeout food in the time frame they provide when you order food. When I ordered for the first time about a month ago, they told me to pick up in 15 minutes. I arrived 20 minutes later and waited an additional 25 minutes. They apologized for the wait and I assumed it was just a bad night for them (though they weren't especially busy). The same thing happened last night and, again, they weren't especially busy and the bottom of my calzones were burnt. If you're going to order from this place for pick-up, I recommend adding 30 minutes onto the time they provide for pick-up. read more

Don't even know where to start with this place... First of all, its wayy overpriced for a place that struggles to get my coffee right. Been in there twice, and they screwed up my breakfast sandwich BOTH times! and it took forever!!! I went on a week day so it wasn't too crowded. I can tell that there are Definitely long lines at some points during the day. Lots of foot traffic going in and out. Not really anywhere to park but street parking. Small cafe but does have a/c! Cash only with ATM inside! Got the grilled cheese panini and it was wonderful. Snickerdoodle coffee for dessert which was also great. Will be returning at some point ! read more

Love Sidewalk, best breakfast sandwiches and coffee in Southie. No need to go anywhere else on a Saturday or Sunday morning unless you're looking to sit down and stay a while. This place is hangover heaven. Only downside is the line can get a little long and it forms outside; definitely worth the wait though. Great coffee and friendly service every day. The girls who work the morning shift are so nice and it's a great start to your day to see such friendly faces. The coffee is excellent. They always get the perfect ratio of coffee to ice to milk to sweetener. I have never had a bad cup of coffee there in my life. The bagel sandwiches are AMAZING. You will need to run a marathon to work it off, but SO worth it. The ham, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel will slay you. Also, the salads are REALLY good. They are always fresh and the veggies and other ingredients are a very good quality. They also have the best chicken salad sandwiches I have ever tasted in my whole life. Be careful on weekends though. If you get there after 11AM you are going to be waiting in line for at least 10 minutes. read more
