My partner (f) and I (m) stopped here on our way back from a trip and wished we had gone back to The Pig (next door). The service was awful and our waitress (also manager) was incredibly rude. It started out with ordering our drinks 4 different times from 3 different waiters/waitresses, before one waiter (not ours) finally came back to the table and remembered they had forgotten to bring the drinks. Eventually we got these drinks 25 minutes later after sitting down. Ordering food took just as long and it really felt like we were being ignored as our waitress continued to walk back and forth talking with other tables around us. We eventually got our order in and our food was brought out in separate pieces (which is understandable if the kitchen was backed up). We had ordered ranch with the meal which didn't come out initially. When asking for ranch again as the first parts of the meal came out it was forgotten about again as the second parts of our meal were brought out. I asked a 3rd time for some ranch and mentioned to our waitress that service has been pretty poor so far. Our waitress coldly responded that she is busy and gesturing for us to look around to see for ourselves. It felt rude and like she just didn't care. Throughout the meal the waitress never came back to check how anything was and at this point my partner and I were both pretty upset about the whole situation. We weren't looking to get any free food, but just a simple apology for the lack of service. At the end of the meal when we were ready to pay (and willing to pay) the waitress just told us we were "good to leave", meaning the meal was comped. I then asked if I could speak with a manager in which our waitress responded that she was the manager and there was nothing to be done. I was still just expecting a simple apology for the bad customer service, but at this point I knew this was a dead end. This manager/waitress (Madia I believe) should not be working in a customer service role and gives a potentially good restaurant like this a bad name. read more

Came into Sid's for breakfast and lunch to go, while a bit slow, it had solid food and nice service. I was visiting the area with my Dad and we needed a place to grab breakfast, fill up on coffee and some lunch to take with us during our opal mining. This diner has all the usual suspects, from a counter across from the kitchen to 1950's design touches. Everything was clean and had a newish feel to it though. A bit of a wait to be seated at 9 on a Saturday. Service was great and friendly, but the cooking was way slow. I'd guess our basic breakfasts took a half hour to come out. Waitress filled dads coffee thermos with fresh stuff and heated it up first with hot water. The meal was really spot-on. Perfectly cooked well-scrambled eggs made up for the wait. A heaping ton of has browns come with the side. Dad really enjoyed his scramble as well. We got lunch to go, which was pretty easy. I had a BLT that came with nicely crispy bacon and fries that stayed crispy. I think dad had a tasty ruben with slaw. Sid's Restaurant is a solid diner to get a well cooked to order meal and attentive service, but you might have a bit of a wait. read more

This restaurant was suggested by the lady at the hotel desk...what a mistake!! I'm giving it one star as the service was efficient. The food was grease laden and inedible if allowed to cool. Some of the lettuce in the salad was pink (so not very fresh) and the sandwich that my husband had ordered had so little meat that he doubled the meat on one half of the roll. This place is great! Has a 1950's feel, although I don't think that's intentional, which makes it that much more charming. There a booths for 2, 4, and gigantic corner large-group booths. You can also sit at the counter. There's an extensive list of daily dessert specials. Their menu is quite expansive for a very traditional American feel, they have a broad range of entrees from fajitas, to spaghetti, meatloaf, and American classics. I eat here when I'm "on the wagon" health-wise because they have a yummy assortment of unique salads. Their Cajun spicy chicken salad (can be served in a yummy taco bowl) is a favorite of mine. They have great sandwiches and a couple spins on a Philly cheese steak that's scrumptious too. Service has always been fast & friendly. I'll keep coming back! read more

The omelette was fluffy, made to order including extra cheese and was delicious. The biscuits and gravy were very good, and tasted exceptionally fresh. Sid's is a local favorite and normally the food is very tasty. However, we just got our take out order... Sonoma Omlettes and are so disappointed. This is the second time we have received black avacado slices on top and we found mold on our sourdough toast. Wow. Apparently they do not have any pride in what they are sending out. Went here for dinner while working out of town. I had the fried meatloaf sandwich and they let me substitute green salad for the usual sides of home made potato salad or pasta salad. I opted for the viagrette...didn't realize it was raspberry. It was fine. My buddy liked his tuna melt, and my sandwich was good. Nothing amazing but really what should anyone expect out of a diner in Winnemucca. Good sturdy food. That's what I got. The atmosphere is cleaned up "updated" Sambos. It's got a great retro feel. This review is based on 3 evening meals. One had to be take-out and the other two were with the new 'rules.' Santa Rosa sandwich, great meat and cheese/mushroom ratio! Hamburger was up there with quality burgers found elsewhere. Tonight's California Griller was another well thought out sandwich. The avocado was a great addition and was very fresh. When I discovered they had tater tots in lieu of the potato salad (can't beat the wife's) or the fries, adds a great option. Saw the fried chicken on another table's plate and that's next. With the limited tables, makes it a little tougher for the staff, but they are doing great to serve you as effectively as possible. Thank you! read more

Big Mistake. Sid's looked like an old dinner with nice ambiance. But don't be fooled. I ordered the chops. They came out very thin, over cooked, and tough. Only ate half of one. The combo veggies were leftovers, reheated and burned. My wife ordered the chicken fried steak dinner. It was small, thin, over cooked, and burnt. Had to send it back. She ordered the fried fish basket instead which turned out to be three frozen fish sticks that were way over battered. The whole meal was really bad. Waitress was forgetful and slow. Took ten minutes just to get our check. It took an hour and half to get out of this place. Not a good idea on a road trip. We'll never stop at Sid's again. read more

If it's important to you to stay safe from COVID, this may be the best restaurant in town, hands down. They require masks, and unlike some restaurants in town, enforce it. Started off a little rocky having to wait about 10 minutes to be seated when they had plenty of tables open and ready, but they definitely made up with the food! They have fresh squeezed OJ (so so good but a little pricey) I have the biscuits and gravy! Very very good! Didn't come with as much as I was hoping for. Also their blueberry muffin AMAZING! My husband had their Denver skillet and was in love with it! He said it's the best breakfast he's ever had! and he eats a lot of breakfast food! For sure go here!!! Stopped in today around noon. I was immediately impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant as an initial observation. I was even more impressed that the bathroom was spotless! Never been there before so not sure how it normally is but it was a nice facility. There were several people eating. Having some clientele is a good thing and I was seated promptly. The staff were very quick and courteous throughout my time there. They were on top of things. I had a hamburger called the buffalo burger and it was pretty good. I also got a fountain drink with my meal. I was a little surprised that it cost over $2 for a fountain drink. But then again I'm old enough to remember getting coffee or 50 Cent LOL. I'm a bit behind the roadtrip reviews, so here is one from a few weeks back. What I continue to find is that at least ONE person has been to every little place I visited on this road trip!?!?! Sids Restaurant is a diner.......in a small town in Nevada.........sure you could stop there, but there is a bit more. Located off of I-80 in Winnemucca, Nevada, Sids is a family diner with nice, friendly staff and plenty of diner type food. Having driven all of the morning, it was time for lunch. The thing about driving through Utah and Nevada, is that there are just a few places that have more than one option to eat, so when one gets to a town like Winnemucca, then it is a good time to stop, rest, eat, before continuing the road warrior cross country trip my friend and I were on. I had a BLT and a few buds (my driving shift was over and I planned to sleep for a while). We found out from the friendly wait staff that Newmont mining was the key employer in the area...actually the worlds largest gold mining company. Plenty of shops, car dealerships......not the kind of place impacted by the issues with the finanical markets. Business was good at the mines and in Winnemucca...good for them. Food was hot, tasty, and cheap. We ate, said our goodbyes and head out of Winnemucca. read more
