Everytime I go to Siegel's Deli, it is full of people but a booth always magically opens up for us. My Mom and I went there the other day with a serious craving for corned beef sandwiches and we ordered the overstuffed corned beef plain. We both love plain mustard and the sandwiches are so huge and satisfying we always finish one side only and take the other side home. The corned beef is nice and lean. They also have a special soup and half sandwich available and their split pea soup in particular is delicious. A lot of people order carry out but it doesn't seem to affect the dine in service at all. Our waitress is always attentive and checks on us throughout the meal. They also have sweet challah and cookies for sale at the register. We were so full we couldn't even. Maybe next time! read more

Not sure what's happened to this place. I heard from friends that Siegel's has been going downhill. But I never had a bad experience until yesterday. Corned beef sandwiches were good but man, the service and hospitality are severely lacking! I ordered corned beef sandwiches for takeout and said twice for the dressing and coleslaw to be on the side. I was bringing them to my dad so I didn't want it to get soggy. I arrive and the girl mumbles the total to me, so I give her the money and say thanks and walk out. I get into my car and look in the bag to see that they indeed had put the coleslaw on the sandwiches. I walk back in to tell her it was prepared incorrectly and she goes "you were short by x amount" and I immediately apologized for mishearing her and gave her the correct amount AND a tip. Mind you, I didn't say anything about how she mumbled. I took full accountability. Yet she couldn't say sorry for their mistake! So she walks back to the cook and through the window goes "she doesn't want coleslaw on it" -- as if it was my fault, or as if I was being difficult or picky. The cook says something back to her and they laugh. After they fix it, she just threw the sandwiches in the bag. Doesn't say a thing. Not even a "here you go" or "sorry about that" or "have a nice day". Nothing. Never coming back again. read more

Service sometimes slow but the corned beef, Swiss, Cole slaw and thousand island dressing sandwich is so good. It's big enough to share and hard to fit in your mouth for a bite. Great onion rings too. I used to absolutely love the mushroom barley soup but it has changed somehow. I still get it sometimes though because it's hard to find. Worth checking out. I stopped by Siegels for lunch today. Wowow! Started with a half bowl of Matzoball Soup. Beautiful just like what I used to get at the Jewish deli's in NYC as a student. It warmed the belly. With that I had a half Rubin stacked to the ceiling with delicious corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and sauce on grilled seeded rye. $16 plus tip. Service was quick, even though the place was packed with a lunchtime crowd. I can't believe I hadn't found this place before when I worked down on 13 mile and Cabot. I'll be back! read more

A Tale Of Two Cities: "It was the best of food; it was the worst of settings." Food City--worthy of 5 stars. I ordered the Soni (corned beef, Swiss cheese, Cole slaw, Russian dressing) on rye. It was stacked high but I unhinged my jaw and bit in. Mmmmmm. Lean, tender corned beef, cole slaw with a touch of sweetness, mild Swiss to accent it. Not sure if it had the dressing on it because it wasn't oozing out like most places. I was going to ask for a side of it but then realized it was great however it was done. And the Rye. OMG--soft bread with firm crust that gave way with a nice crunch when bitten. Two pickles spears with perfect texture and not overly sour. No other sides added but none where needed. This was a lot of sandwich and under $10. Great job Siegle's Deli. Grime City--1 star for physical establishment. The carpet throughout is so dirty and repulsive it really detracts from a nice meal. After sitting in a booth where you could feel the spring shifting around, we moved to a table. Hello rock-hard wooden chairs that were sturdy but looked beaten up. Behind the counter is more dirty flooring (old style linoleum). I was pleasantly surprised by a sparkling, fresh and modern bathroom but when I turned to close the door, I saw the white painted door was full on grime. (Both sides of the door need fresh paint and to be wiped / scrubbed down more frequently. ) As for service, I was impressed by how quickly our food came, given that we were there at 12:20 and the lunch crowd was coming in strong. If Chef Robert Irvine came here to do a restaurant makeover he wouldn't have to do a thing to the food. However he be pulling up that nasty flooring immediately. read more

Authentic Jewish deli. I've eaten here several times. The servers are young college students and always pleasant. You can tell they are well-guided in the background as to prompt and polite service. The clientele is mostly an older crowd which gives it great street cred in my opinion. I usually have the Reuben and one of their soups. My sister loves their baklava. The food is outstanding and it's easy to grab a quick meal if you're headed somewhere. It's just fantastic home style food. This is not for everyone but since I keep gluten-free, I usually have Siegel's turn my Reuben into a salad and it is perfect! read more

Best Jewish deli in Oakland County, hands down. Breakfast here is fresh and huge (especially their breakfast sausage links). The only thing I order here besides breakfast is the Ruben and their soup, both of which are superior to any other deli in the area and are not overpriced. For $8 you get a Ruben that could feed three people and still have corned beef left over to make some hash at home the next day. I'm not kidding, these sandwiches are BIG. Also they offer lettucewiches, which are their normal sandwiches with lettuce instead of bread. Ruben #3 , OMG...... no bs this is the BEST Ruben I have ever had the meat is incredibly soft and moist the best flavor I've ever had. It's perfect a little coleslaw and dressing and the best sauerkraut also I've ever tasted not sour just amazing, And the rye bread again nailed it grilled to perfection chewy crust yet soft. How does a Yelp foodie rate the neighborhood restaurant that I eat at several times a week. There is nothing trendy about Siegel's . . . it is a Jewish Deli that delivers solid food, good-sized portions and outstanding value. Siegel's is family-owned by the most wonderful hard-working people I have ever met. They are friendly, caring and deliver the best service possible. It's clientele is older, extremely loyal and, like me, eat many meals a week there. You cannot get better Deli sandwiches. Corned beef, Pastrami, Brisket and the like, all over stuffed, served on the traditional Detroit double baked rye bread. Their chicken broth is almost as good as my Mother's and the other soup choices are home made and excellent. The menu is extensive and includes dinners you would expect from a Deli . . . Roast 1/2 Chicken so big I take home half the dinner, a brisket plate, stuffed cabbage and the like. The dinners come with a cup of soup (a bowl in most restaurants), potatoes and a vegetable. You cannot leave hungry. Order the corned beef hash and you will have another sizable meal for the next day. Siegel's even has soup and a 1/2 sandwich at dinner! The value received is more than any restaurant in the area. That is worth 5 stars. I should stop here but feel the need to respond to some of the reviews. Yes, during the lunch crush, service can be slower . . . the restaurant is not large and is served by two or three servers. You want quick service? Come when it's not busy. Have some patience. I have never seen anyone ignored. As for the decor, it is slowly being upgraded. But tell me, would you rather have prices that reflect a brand new interior or better value? I'm fine with the way it is. I am not trying to drum up business for them, Siegel's does fine. Dining in can be hit or miss as I see some tables aren't the cleanliness, it's a family owned business with recipes to care about. If you're gonna be selective, go elsewhere. Thanks Robin and Jeff!! Siegel's Deli is a small unassuming place with food to be proud of. It might be easier to list the menu items my friends didn't rave about than the rest of the menu. I took one of their suggestions and ordered the Corned Beef Hash. It comes with a generous, no massive portion of hash that has more corned beef than taters, fresh green peppers and onions, three eggs, and thick cut rye toast. The over easy eggs were cooked perfectly and everything tasted great. My new friends had Cabbage Soup and sandwiches. Both the corned beef and pastrami were piled high and looked amazing. My wife and I meet for lunch once a week and Siegel's Deli has become our go-to spot. The menu is quite extensive and for someone that has never been to Siegel's it may seem a bit overwhelming. Nonetheless, there are a number of good choices on the menu. Each time we've been here we have received great service. A couple of weeks back I ordered a coffee half way through the meal and the waitress gave it to me without charge, which was a nice touch. Today, we stopped in for lunch and my wife forgot to order her toast dry. So, it came out loaded with butter. As my wife was scraping off the butter the waitress came over and asked if anything was wrong. My wife explained that she had forgotten to order dry toast and was just scraping off the butter. A few minutes later the waitress showed up with two fresh slices of dry toast! She did this without being asked. Nice touch. I usually order the #11 Jonah, which is a turkey sandwich on rye bread. The turkey isn't lunch meat. Rather, it is nice, thick sliced turkey that looks like it just came off the bird and the rye bread has a good texture. The portion sizes are generous, the service is quick & polite, and the prices are reasonable. First time here last Saturday night. Stopped in for a carry out. Clean inside and quite a few patrons. I ordered a hot turkey dinner, a stuffed cabbage dinner, and a quart of chicken noodle soup. The dinners came with mashed potatoes and corn and a salad. I do not like giving bad reviews but we did not care for any of the food. The turkey was dry and did not come with any gravy. The stuffed cabbage was very solid, almost TOO hard and very little flavor. The mashed potatoes were very lumpy. The chicken noodle soup looks like a food service variety, it may not be, and had no chicken and a disturbing lack of flavor. This is not a go to place in my book. SORRY. read more

Gluten Free Review: I ordered carry out from here, so I did not dine in person. This deli does not have gluten free bread (a star off, since their competitors do) they do have good portion sizes for a good price. I only ordered the kosher salami & made my own sandwich with bread at home. I'm not sure what other items they have that are gluten free, but I have seen reviews of people ordering salads here.
