Daniel came, just as he pulled in he chance spotted a squirrel exiting an undershot at the top of the garage, this was not why he was called but he quickly grabbed a ladder went up and reported a small den in there, he showed me the picture. I called this company because of all of the mostly good reviews to solve a rat issue that was becoming a real problem. I had Julio Reyes answer my call right away and was responsive to go out right away about my issues. They charge you a fee to do an estimate which I was a bit uneasy with but they told me it's to keep people from just using them to shop around so I was willing to do this. Julio gave me an estimate that was over $1500 to solve the issues with a 1 year warranty which I was ok with because I needed to solve this issue once and for all. Note you pay upfront but they did provide me with a receipt showing the one year warranty. The initial work done seemed very good. They sealed off openings to the kitchen where they were nesting behind the dishwasher. They screened all roof breather vents and screened all the plumbing pipes, roof eaves, and supposedly screened off and foamed the sewer lines where they mostly the way they were getting into the house. During the 2 weeks they continued to come out and take activated traps and add new traps until I get a text from Julio that we went by and there was no activity and that he thought the problem had been solved. That was 1 1/2 weeks ago. Since then we had a rat chew through a plastic barrier they set up, chew through furniture to try to set up nests again behind dishwasher. Every night they make very loud sounds like they are trying to chew through the foundation. Every time I try to call the company they no longer answer phone calls or respond to texts. Over desperation of getting no response I wrote a 1 star review of this company. I felt it was unacceptable to go dark on me like this after spending so much money. That said later the same day I wrote the review, the owner finally reached out to me to let me know his phone went dead and was not working and it took him a week to get this resolved. Therefore he was not able to receive phone calls or texts. He did follow up by sending me proof that this actually happened and it was I guess just very bad timing that I was not able to get a response from him. In the meantime he did send someone out immediately after I wrote the poor review and it appears they did seal off more areas that were vulnerable. He also followed up on the activity and I feel he is back on track to get rid of our rat problem. Julio is an honest and competent professional. His team helped me get rid of a large rat that had taken residence in my attic and crawlspace. When he showed up for the estimate, he got on the roof and all around the house and quickly located the two rodent entry points. He advised me that I could seal the two entry points myself with some steel mesh and then I would have better luck with the rat going for my traps. He also advised me that the problem seemed fairly limited and was likely just that one rodent. It is unusual that a professional will spend an hour locating your problem for free and then give you free advice on how to solve it yourself. I think that speaks to his honesty. I did end up using his services since his estimate was well below half of another estimate and I wanted the job done professionally. His team came by the very next day and quickly sealed the entry points as well as all vents on the roof and openings between the garage and crawlspace. After such high hopes, I'm disappointed with the follow-through and customer service of Silicon Valley Rodent Proofers. I needed an inspection due to potential rodent activity in our attic. Julio was very responsive in the beginning and sent someone out the next day. The helper peeked in our attic, looked at the roof and did a walk around the outside to figure out likely entry points (which he did). He took photos of everything, which I thought would be great since I needed a detailed report for our HOA that manages the roof. However, several texts and phone calls went unanswered. This past summer, we smelled something really foul in our walls. We got into contact with Julio from Silicon Valley Pest. He came out and surveyed the premises and filled any gaps and entry points he noticed. He was really communicative and took pictures of the before and after. He also checked in with us about a week later to see how everything went which I appreciated the follow up. He also told me that his work is guaranteed for one year if anything happens. Then I saw a rat run past me in a garage about two months after he came. Julio immediately came out the next day and looked for any other entry points in the garage. After a thorough investigation, he found a quarter-sized hole where a rat was coming into our garage. He set up a trap and lo and behold, the next morning the rat was caught. Again, he followed up two days later via text and asked if we got it and I was happy to report his trapped worked. Then, our children were awoken by frantic scratching and thumping around coming from our roof/attic area. This was on a Saturday and Julio kindly explained that he was booked and couldn't come until that Monday (which is totally understandable). However, that same afternoon, my wife heard noise and it was coming from the furnace closet. She opened it to investigate and she witnessed a rat plunge from a small area in the attic down into the furnace closet. She closed the door and we put a floor mat under the door trapping the critter. As you can imagine, the rat was anxious to get out and was repeatedly slamming into the wall inside the closet to get back up to the attic. Our daughters were highly scared of all this commotion as it continued into the evening and night. So I reached out to Julio and explained how the rat was constantly and for a long period of time making noise that was scaring the kids. I got a couple different quotes for a rat issue we had under our shed. Julio was also recommended by another pest control firm, so that sounded promising. He was able to get to the house and quickly assess the situation and provide a plan. This plan was somewhat similar to others but at a much more reasonable cost. He also discussed follow up plans to hopefully keep the rat issue under control. Since I was not in town, he did a great job of keeping me updated and sending pictures of the work done...which was considerable. They dug trenches around the shed, laid a barrier and even sealed up some of the gaps and installed some sheet metal at key spots. I would certainly recommend him.
