The roasted beet and arugula salad, is good, except the beets are not roasted, they are boiled. If they had been roasted, the salad would've been amazing. The chef told my server it was a misprint on the menu. I would encourage them to consider roasting them for real, because it makes them so much better. If not, maybe they should change the menu.

The Spoonbread Restaurant is located in the Westin Pointsett hotel. I dined here for breakfast twice. I could order off the menu or do the buffet because of my Platinum level with the hotel. The restaurant is open for lunch as well and was named after a cornmeal dish. I liked the historic feel to the restaurant with the hand tiled floors and the light fixtures, high ceilings and large windows. The service was very friendly and helpful. On both days they made sure I had everything I needed. When I struggled to open the jam some was brought from the buffet. I'm not a fan of buffets so ordered from the menu both times. The first day I had the Spoonbread breakfast which for me was two eggs; bacon; fruit; and an English muffin. It was substantial. The next day I went with the waffles with fruit compote and was given a side of bacon as well. It came with fruit and syrup so I did half with each topping. It was less substantial than the previous day but I had a brunch to head to later so wanted less.

My husband and I stopped by one afternoon while attending a dessert tour. This was our first stop, and one of my favorites! It's hard not to love a decadent chocolate dessert. After all, you can't trust anyone who doesn't like chocolate The hotel where the restaurant is located is beautiful, and historic. A plus for us!

6/10 The context for this review is that I've been here for breakfast only several times, with that breakfast being fully comped as part of having platinum elite status or higher with the Marriott hotel this restaurant is located in. The service here is good, not great. The ambience is a bit more upscale. At around 7am-8-am, the restaurant was mostly empty. A buffet is offered as one of the options, but I didn't see anyone order it. Coffee and juice are offered once you sit down. The coffee is okay though I was never offered a refill while dining so am not sure if it's one cup and done or if you can request more. On a previous stay a few years ago, I think I was offered additional coffee, though I can't remember for sure. Here are my thoughts on a few of their menu items: Waffles with Pecans - This came with whipped cream, maple syrup, and butter. The waffles were fine, though they look like they came out of a waffle iron you'd find in at a self-serve free breakfast at a hotel. It was cooked as such too as there was some odd burns/charring on the bottom of the waffle which was a bit puzzling. The whipped cream was thick, so at least this didn't come from a can. Spoonbread Breakfast - this was fine, though unmemorable. For what would have been the cost, not the most food. Grits desperately needed more flavor - salt, cheese, butter, something. Seared Salmon - Salmon had a nice sear, but ever so slightly underdone, though still perfectly edible. Quiche - not bad, probably the best thing I had here. Overall, given the monetary cost and opportunity cost of eating here, I don't really think this is worth it. You're in downtown Greenville - you can do better elsewhere. If, however, you're eating here for free through the hotel then sure, it's a decent breakfast and better than a typical cheap hotel breakfast.

A group of ladies and I enjoyed High Tea service at Spoonbread in memory of a friend that had passed away. We celebrated her life and her birthday in a way she really would have enjoyed. The service was always on time and the food was simply delicious. My favorite item was lemon poppy seed scones. Everything was really very delightful. You are able.to select 2 different teas to have during the service to enjoy along with the scones, cake bites, and mini sandwiches.

Easter Brunch was the best Easter brunch I ever had. Bob was our server and he was efficient and kind. My fiancé and I really appreciated him. The manager (?) was super friendly. He was German, if that helps narrow down who I am talking about. We took a photo with the Easter bunny! I didn't get her name, but the bartender was excellent. She had such a magnetic smile!

Located inside the Westin Hotel in beautiful downtown Greenville, SC, breakfast was yummy and service was good. Just a little on the pricey side for what you get. I was hoping to do their breakfast buffet but, you know, COVID - so no buffet. I think that would've given me a lot more bang for my buck. But it was a nice place for a good breakfast.

My mom and I came for breakfast, but we'd just missed their service hours! Rather than turning us away, they accommodated is in the piano lounge, gave us spectacular service and spectacular food! Strong Starbucks coffee, yummy warm pastries, perfectly fresh fruit...the works! It was a FEAST! I had the grilled salmon with scrambled eggs and arugula salad - amazing! The salad had roasted tomatoes. I typically don't like "hotel food," and this blew me away. Simple and scrumptious! My mom's omelette was far superior to any other breakfast she's had in town thus far. "Very homemade" are her words. The croissants are flaky and fresh! Ask for EVELYN, she is a gem! The Spoonbread is very lucky to have her! So attentive, professional and personable. Stopping in here really gave us a great start to the day!

What a fabulous place to have breakfast! Beautiful interior and awesome service. I cannot forget to mention that delicious breakfast!! Must try while staying in Greenville.

This is an often overlooked restaurant and it's located inside the Westin Poinsett Hotel downtown. It reminds me of restaurants in the 60s with white tablecloths, beautiful decor, and relaxing atmosphere. The waitstaff is pleasant and attentive. The food is properly prepared and very delicious! I especially like the breakfast dishes and also the Reuben sandwich. If you're looking for a restaurant with delicious food, reasonable prices, great service, and a quiet setting then try Spoonbread in downtown Greenville.

You get all the tourists from the Westin next door as well as the regulars walking buy since this is a central location. A nice bottle of wine, ice cold glass of water, shade, an appetizer or two and this is worth the price of admission, which should be a great tip for good service and don't hold up the table, that's what you are effectively renting. Any of the food is good too, however, but that's not why you are here!

Right from the way it looked to the way it tasted, there was consistent lackluster vibe. The vegetable bowl was an afterthought of a dish, very unsure brussel sprouts thrown together with a handful of carrot slivers, some odd bits of grains and a very forlorn handful of dry tofu. The fried egg on the top made it edible and I was glad that I asked for it. The crunchy bits of garlic on the side seemed like a fear of commitment. An entry that is named roasted garlic vegetable bowl should claim it loud and proud in every bite. Grouper hoagie... let us just say at that the fries on the side were the highlight of this dish. Very underwhelming experience saved by the fact that our seating was very conducive to conversation, round tables for six, what a brilliant set up and lighting and noise level just enough to enjoy the company. I might just bring take out here to enjoy the ambiance!

An amazing patio overlooking one of the main streets of downtown Greenville, with a cozy interior ambiance as well. Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable of the local food, drinks and their amazing wine selection. Soby's just won the Wine Spectator Grand Award (highest possible) and a Michelin recommended restaurant for 2025. And it shows. We didn't get any wine this evening, but the menu is as thick as a long novel. Anything and everything is in this puppy. Wines from all over the world, ranging from a few bucks to over $13,000 a bottle. Take your pick. We opted for some beer and cocktails, all of which were perfect. The food. This southern inspired menu with local ingredients was fantastic. We had a spicy pimento cheese app with crispy pita and pickled okra...delish! The beet and goat cheese salad was one of the best we've had. The pic speaks for itself there. The Soby's fried chicken is something you HAVE to get if you go. The best fried chicken, with the best bacon mac n cheese to complement it. Tender and juicy, crispy and flavorful...these words don't even scratch the surface of how good this dish was. Top notch experience all around. Make it a point to try it out if you haven't yet, or if you're in town for a visit. And definitely get that chicken dish, yo won't regret it.

Verdict: Come for the ambience and the white chocolate banana cream pie, stay for the gravy, and…read morehope your eggs don't spend too long in the "spotlight." Soby's serves Southern charm before the food even hits the table. (And if your experience is anything like mine, you will be waiting awhile for the food to hit the table.) Weathered wood beams stretch overhead, brick walls hold decades of character, and the warm lighting makes the whole room glow like butter on a hot biscuit. The kitchen hums with the kind of energy that says brunch is serious business. If you sit upstairs at the loft, there are some seats that overlook the kitchen so it's like brunch and a show. The pecan sticky bun is sweet enough to make you reconsider sharing though I wouldn't know because they ran out of it before 11:00a. Service was friendly and quick on the front end, though the kitchen's food expeditors seemed a little short-handed. The result? A slight wait that left some eggs spending a bit too much quality time under the heat lamps. My Shakshuka dish had an egg-istential crisis. Instead of that luscious over-easy river of yolk, the eggs arrived closer to hard-boiled territory--less "runny brunch bliss" and more "deviled egg audition." Thankfully, our waiter expedited another over easy egg to replace the one that came with my dish. The Providence Farm Country Fried Steak was the undeniable headliner--about 1.5 inches thick and fried to golden perfection. Smothered in sausage gravy, it was the kind of dish that makes cardiologists nervously flip through their calendars. The flavor? Steak-ing its claim as one of the better country fried steaks around. The sunny-side egg, however, had clearly spent a little too long basking beneath the warming lights alongside my shakshuka. But, if you come for one thing only, let it be the white chocolate banana cream pie. As I've heard Southern Belles say in gest, "it'll make you wanna slap your mama." In short: rustic atmosphere, an energetic kitchen, and Southern food that doesn't just butter you up--it grits straight to the point.

I was hungry and didn't know what or where to eat, not like there is a lack of options, but did I want ramen or something more local in regional flare? I picked the second one. I ended up at Tupelo Honey because fresh southern fried chicken sounded amazing and this place wasn't going to break the bank. I guess this place is a chain but I didn't know this until I was eating. The staff were beyond friendly and attentive and they answered all of my questions about the food. The restaurant was super clean. I ended up ordering the half bird with original seasoning on it. The seasoning the put on it is a crystallized honey power and something else in it, it gives the chicken a nice sweet flavor but not overpowering. They also have a spicy version for you spice lovers. The half bird came with 4 pieces as one would expect, the crust was crispy and the chicken was awesome. I was eating the dark meat and couldn't get over how juicy it was. The real test as you all know is the breast, is that going to be dry? Nope, it was so moist and flavorful, it was a home run. I guess they brine their chicken for some good amount of time and it shows. My sides though I wish I would have gotten more adventurous, the meal came with two sides so I got a salad and the fried potatoes as a recommendation from the waitress. They were good but the mac n cheese looked better. Overall this place is great and I would go again. It's right downtown and the service was fast and friendly. Great place for some fried chicken .

I had many other dishes there that are far more worth ordering, such as... *The Lamb (starter) * Brussels Sprouts * Tahini Caesar The Wine list is very extensive, and access to a top-tier sommelier is great. We absolutely adored our server, Nicolas who made our experience as fun, festive, and informative as could be! My only "note" to management would just be that besides the natural setting (the perfect Reddy River), the indoor ambience is SO lackluster. The restaurant could really stand to have an aesthetic revamp. And I hate to comment on the interior of the restrooms since it is seemingly so obsolete to "restaurant review," but I simply feel compelled to comment. The restrooms are barely a step up from a public pool/beach bathroom shack. Too harsh? No, must be said.
