I came in for dinner with two girlfriends. This is our second time at this location. They offer outdoor seating, booths and regular tables inside. It's very spacious, we were not seated close to any other guest. As they are taking proper precautions during this time. The hostess was super friendly, and quick with seating us. Our waitress Toni was phenomenal!! Highly recommend her. She gave us a run down of the menu and answered all of our questions about certain dishes and drinks as well. Very patient with us, as we do take awhile to order. Everything was brought out in a timely manner, we did not have to remind her of anything. Drinks, appetizers, entrees and deserts were all amazing!!! I do have one recommendation for dessert. If you are a fan of bread pudding do not hesitate to try theirs, it's SOOOO goood. This location is perfect for me. They have free underground parking and if you park in the right spot the elevator takes you up really close to the diner. They have a large menu with everything. Breakfast, dinner, Healthy foods, drinks & dessert including milkshakes the service was very friendly and good. Everything we ordered was really good and they have other meat options like turkey bacon and chicken sausage, even vegan options. I got the guava ginger ale which was good too! RAW MEAT! Before I get there I want to point out this was a big silver diner good location and plenty of seats but I'm disappointed in the lack of service. Just when we got seated we overheard the table next to us had been waiting nearly an hour for their food. This is where I started to spot the red flags. First, one of our drinks didn't arrive with the rest our drinks and the waiter did not pass by us for ten minutes. Second, one of our orders the majority of the plate is supposed to be French fries and they forgot the fries. Third, this is the worst of the worst I was served raw meat. Note, I ordered the meat to be cooked medium. The waiter went back to order a new steak for me. I was very frustrated with how the waiter did not check in with us often. We had to ask for silverware, napkins, ketchup, and our drinks during separate occasions. We were not offered anything for the bad experience. We wanted to order dessert but we were skeptical something was going to go wrong with that as well. Liking the new location! Not because I am so far from other locations, but the location I usually go to (Springfield) has a nasty funky smell to it and a fly problem. So I was happy to see how clean this location was! The only sad thing is that this new branch is very generic-looking and doesn't have the jukeboxes around the restaurant like the other locations. Still, the music that was playing was very good. The food is always solid at Silver Diner (lunch/dinner better than breakfast), even if the prices are steep. Watch out for those $3.00 sodas, ugh. My largest issue is the cost. Toast and eggs (no meat) and coffee with tax and tip is out of reach for my traveling per Diem, alloted for breakfast. After driving by many times we were excited to check this place out. My son and I were looking forward to early morning pancakes as a treat after his haircut. We arrived at about 8:50 and were seated outside. It took a while to get any service or acknowledgement so we ordered immediately. While we waited they continued to seat people right next to us rather than spreading tables throughout the patio space. This was a bit annoying because I sat outside to have distance from others and there was plenty not being used. Our pancakes arrived and they were gross -- dry, bland -- my son took 2 bites. I also ordered pancakes as well and only ate a few bites as syrup couldn't save them. I asked for the check, paid, and left -- having taken 6 bites of our two meals. I and some friends meet occasionally in a spacious recreation hall and share a meal. We'll provide several different restaurant prepared meals and share notes on where we should continue to frequent with our business where we should not. Our recent endeavors pointed the group to Silver Diner in Alexandria, VA and our first exploration was favorable,; the Calf's Liver was very acceptable. However, the second visit to the restaurant did not bode well for a few in the group. Two of the Calf Liver entrees were burnt and the Philly omelet had a soapy after taste (others thought it tasted like cilantro - it was discarded). That evening the group was tasked with replacing several entrees at the last minute after spending $110 at the Silver Diner. Tonight it was the hand-dipped milkshake I was craving, and frankly was the only reason I ordered from this restaurant this evening. The food I received is good, but I'm frustrated that I have nothing to drink but water. It's not that complicated to review an order before you hand it over to the driver. Have been watching (and hearing) the new "West Alex" development grow to fruition foe several years. Today we finally tried Silver Diner rather than venture to one of the more trendy brunch zones. Couldn't find them on OpenTable so was happy when we were able to be seated within a half hour during prime time. The place is clean and airy inside. Outside dining will be nice when weather is better. Staff was SUPER friendly despite a bustling full house. The menu is huge. Think Cheesecake Factory or one of the cheaper sit-down chains. Portions were big for brunch. The food itself, though, didn't meet up to the descriptions in the menu. We were excited, specially based on the more-upscale prices than we'd imagined for a "diner." While our meals were definitely quite tasty, for the price and menu write-ups, it was a bit of a let down. Case in point: chicken and waffles. Good taste, fresh quality, but partner described to me as "basically some really big chicken tenders" and that's what they looked like. The waffle resembled a giant Eggo. Again - better taste and quality than these pedestrian things, but for $16 I've come to expect...more better. Might go back but will probably stick to basic eggs meat toast kinda deal if for brunch. There are interesting items on their all day dining menu but have a feeling I'll stick to the basics at this shop. They have a lot of food here SO MANY CHOICES!!!!!! They also have nice waiters and great service. It was really pretty here and a nice clean place there is one place where you can look out the window and see the whole street. The food was good and you should go here, if you want to get the pasta know that it is not the same as your regular pasta it is quinoa pasta so just a little bit different. The firecracker tacos are good, so is the warm local vegetable salad! They also have a kids menu. And Dad really liked his triple decker club. Woo-hoo! Good place :) I had the firecracker tacos and they are spicy but very good. The spice goes away as you finish your dinner and the sauce is very good. There are only two tacos but there is rice, corn, and black beans so you can finish all of your dinner. When I also had one of my dad's four sandwiches, they just tasted like a regular sandwich that you would eat at home. But the sandwich wasn't over the top or not good enough. It was just right.
