When we arrived at this very large parking lot, the first thing we noticed was a meager two handicapped spots! I am assuming this is the bare minimum required by law--but considering how many disabled and elderly diners are likely to patronize this establishment...really? Luckily, we got one of the two spots. Next we were shocked by the astronomical prices for everyday fare ($17.99 for my husband's sandwich and fries and also for my salad w/ no protein added). My husband had no drink; I had a glass of wine:, we split a small appetizer. I asked for dressing on the side. Oh--I got that, in addition to a salad drenched in dressing, as well. We have been coming to this silver diner since they opened and have loved it - tonight was a nightmare! We are rewards members and came to dinner tonight to take advantage of the $35 dinner for two. Well when we gave our member number we were told it's not working and we needed to call customer service! From our table to get it fixed in order to take advantage of the dinner special. We asked for the manager and Marishka came over and reconfirmed we needed to call customer service. We waited 40 minutes and were eventually told it would be applied but the special is only $35 off your order not dinner for two for $35!! Beware of this misleading special. Marishka never came over and we got another manager that explained this scam to us and continued to charge us and agreed to ad is misleading. We have new patrons of other Silver Diners for more than 20 years but doubt we will return. read more

My wife was taken there by her coworkers and I was not able to attend because of other duties. She loves Silver Diner and I was there couple of time with her and it was OK. When I looked Chantilly Silver Diner on my phone, Google offered me a nice pic of Fish and Chips, which was Silver Diner classic. So I asked my wife over the phone to order me that as a takeout. I did not looked at the menu and it was my mistake. They seem to be new "woke" and skinny location and the best they offered to my wife as a substitute was a take our box with one "skinny" small lonely piece of fish (not the classic 2 or 3 fried pieces), and not too many skinny fries. Pretty, Pretty, pretty Bad. This was the frist time i had breakfast and hopefully the last . First, the food came out just lukewarm, the bacon was covered in grease, the sausage was tough. Service was slow and non-responsive. Coffee was served without cream and i had to flag a busboy to get cream because the server couldn't be found. The four pieces of toast was served without buttered and came out with two small fingernail size containers enough for one half bread slice. Toast was warm if that. Good service and big menu with fairly unique items. The salmon and shrimp were cooked well but the overall dish lacked flavor. The asparagus was very bland, and the shrimp mixture could have been seasoned more. I would come back to try more of their items though, it seems promising. read more

The service here was absolutely incredible and the food was delicious. I will say that the dessert could improve. We got the brownie and it wasn't warm and super crumbly. Dined here last night with a friend, and was incredibly disappointed. Multiple items listed on the menu they said they did not have. Not that they were out of certain items, but that they straight up just did not have those items at all despite them being clearly listed in their menu. (For example: no hot chocolate, no plain iced tea (only flavor infused teas), and no grits.) The first waiter was friendly and took my friends order and said he'd be back when I indicated I needed more time to decide on a backup meal because the one I wanted wasn't available, but that waiter never came back. We saw him continue to serve others around us, but he never came back to our table again. Another waitress eventually came over to take my order but she was clearly not in a good mood, and seemed like she already hated her job. I get it, we're all human and we can have off days, but when your job is literal customer service and your restaurant is brand new this is incredibly off putting. The food itself was alright, but we had to ask multiple staff to get silverware & napkins and refills. Aside from multiple menu items not being available at all, the worst part was a manager of some kind was clearly hosting a training session for new employees in a large corner booth not far from where we were seated and for the entire 2 hours we were there we had to listen to her explain the menu to the new staff and how to upsell items to customers. I understand you have train new employees, and you're operating a business that needs to make money to succeed, but why does that level of training have to take place during the dinner rush in a crowded dining room???? I have no problem seeing on the job training taking place, like new people shadowing more senior people, that's fine - but I don't want to have to listen to your full blown presentation mode voice literally instructing your employees on how they should upsell which menu items because they have higher margins or whatever while I am trying to eat my meal. Unbelievably unprofessional. Silver diner is a well established local chain and i have dined in multiple locations over the years but I've never experienced these kinds of issues. I don't know if this location is some kind of a franchise, or what but this location is def not up to snuff. I have no plans to come back in the foreseeable future. I will instead drive out of the way to patron the well established locations. read more

This is going to be a long review. I observed and took a lot of mental notes this night. Our server that night was Ahmed. We first thought the experience overall would be nice, being our first time in the area and the restaurant itself had an old school, modern vibey feel. Our server at times gave attitude and took about an hour to serve my friend his drink he asked for which was chocolate milk. When we asked for suggestions or his opinion, he would tell us nonchalantly some run around answer rather than spending time to help us out. I asked how the creamy crab pasta was and if it would be good and what kind of pancakes as well. He told me it was the best. So I ordered based off what he was saying. He just told me so I would order already. Pancakes infused with bananas and chocolate chips? Trash. It felt like I was eating banana bread batter. I thought the bananas would be placed on top of the pancakes like every other restaurant. The pasta was not very good at all as it was basically a whole bag of mixed vegetables with a creamy sauce that wasn't too bad and barely any meat in this pasta. Had to remind him several times about that chocolate milk and the desserts that were ordered as well. Never refilled the glasses of the other half of our party. That is a big indicator in my judgment on tipping and you'll read about that later on. Several of us ordered desserts and he asked those who ordered their brownie dessert if they wanted that cold or hot. Why would you ask that? Telling us that they're not fresh and you warm up all your foods? Who wants a cold brownie and ice cream and even the peach pie? Also, never read the amount of the tab to the whole table. It's always good to pay in discreet. Everyone doesn't have to know how much the bill is. The server read it aloud in front of everyone and his service overall the whole night was terrible. Not very honest in helping us choose better meals, never refilling drinks, and exposing how the restaurant doesn't make things fresh. Overall for the party of 8, we had a terrible experience at Silver Diner. I looked right into Ahmed's eyes and gave him a no tip so he can see how terrible of a job he did. While we were talking and chilling at our table before we left, my brother told me he could overhear his conversation with other coworkers about me and all of them rolling their eyes. Be better at your job. I hate not tipping, but I tip based off performance. If I could give this experience a 0 I would. That is me in the khaki San Diego Padres jersey.
