Ive's been to a few Silver Diner's and decided to try another location. The food is of high quality and the service is outstanding. I was craving pancakes, so I went for them. They were fluffy, with the perfect amount of crisp. I also had scrambled eggs (made my way). Silver Diner is always a good bet for our family because we have people with allergies, vegans/vegetarians, and those who crave diner favorites. Everyone is happy with a take out here, or eating in the restaurant. Most often, it's take out from Merrifield, Tysons, or Fair Oaks, depending upon where one of us is in the area to pick up. Arlington, too, is also one that we visit. However, Merrifield always provides consistent service, convenience of app ordering, and everything is always prepared well. Went to Silver Diner in Merrifield, VA yesterday. Not only was the food great, our server Angie En was the VERY BEST!!!! My family has been in the restaurant business for 74 years and I know what GREAT service means!!! She is the epitome of the best server experience. She was attentive without being disruptive, when we asked questions about food, she answered them confidently and included up coming seasonal dishes that are coming relating to them. You can tell, she was a pro. Everything was clean and the air was fresh! We love Silver Diner! We will return alot, and now that we know Angie and will aim for her shifts! Silver Diner is my favorite go to in the Merrifield area for a quick breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Each time I come the food and the service are both equally amazing. I came once when I was on a very restrictive diet and the waiter was very helpful with answering my questions and even brought out a printed copy of some of the nutritional facts and ingredients for the offering. I haven't had a bad food or service experience in any of my visits here. My favorite drinks are the hot chocolate and mimosas because they are amaaazing! Repeat customer here. read more

The chefs are very consistent at this location and know how to make the best eggs-over-medium. Favorites include blueberry pancakes, Health shake, Grilled Flounder, Flat-iron steak and eggs. I ordered 2 meals from this store. Black angus meatloaf was disgusting. I work for restaurant so i know about food quality. Meat was something bad i guess. It was frozen or melted down for long time. Thats why meat texture was pancake. Also i ordered Bacon Bleu Burger. It was cold but its delivery i cant change. But taste was like I was eating McDonalds' hamburger. Doesnt have any taste. Pattie was just cooked without any seasoning. They use cheap fries it gave me sadness. Only good thing was an edamame beans. Because even 2nd grade boy can cook this. read more

I demolished my plate. The service was unmatched as always. The young man was courteous, attentive, respectable & willing to make adjustments. I kept it simple with the Huevos Rancheros & two stack. My guest/wife originally ordered the portabello mushroom dish but later returned it for being too watery. Another amazing family dinner at Merrifield Silver Diner. As always, we are quickly seated by the hostess who takes us at our favorite section of the diner where Jon works. He is by far one of our favorite servers who knows our meal selection and extremely accommodating with our autistic son. Always, our food arrives hot, delicious, bountiful and enough for leftovers. Although we have our favorites, Jon always recommends new items on the menu that we have tried and have been very satisfied. Overall, our favorite family dining during this covid pandemic. Silver Diner is appropriately named. Its target market seems to be diners with silver hair or celebrating a silver anniversary. The 50s-esque atmosphere will especially appeal to just about anyone who lived through the actual 1950s. We came for a late lunch with a couple from that generation. Despite a bevy of breakfast and American classics, a healthy Summer Citrus Salad ... at 494 calories ... was the best bet to keep me on my diet. The surprise was how tasty the sweet and fruity medley of Baby Spinach, Mangos, Strawberries, Dried Cranberries, Pecans, and Carrots tossed with a Fat Free Citrus Vinaigrette turned out to be. I recommend it. Olivia opted for a common Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad. I tried a couple bites of the Romaine and Romano blend. It was decent although the chicken dominated the dressing. Our lunch mates tried the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs and a Grilled Cajun Salmon Caesar Salad. Neither of those looked especially tasty, but to be honest they were just what the silver diners wanted. Service was typical although I'd recommend not sitting in the side section because you're kind of out-of-sight & out-of-mind. Parking is free. Silver Diner. My spouse & I started going to the diner during covid of 2021 due to the system they invested in to improve internal air quality. It has been a good choice ever since as we continue to go twice/week. As mentioned by others here, the food is fresh, has variety, and is consistently made to high quality. All of the personnel are friendly and very efficient. We especially appreciate Peter whose service is above and beyond no matter how busy he is with other guests. Ate lunch here on a Saturday. They were busy but we were seated right away. We had the Baja Fish Tacos, Lemon Hummus Salad. and the Corned Beef Hash. All were delicious. I ordered the fish tacos fried. The fish was light and flaky. It came with a citrus salad that was fresh and delicious. The lemon hummus salad came with pita made from cauliflower. It was delicious and an excellent gluten free option. The corned beef hash was excellent. It can be ordered with gluten free toast. The presentation here is outstanding. My husband and I were in between where we wanted to dine at on a Monday night and settled on here since there is a variety of foods to eat. This location wasn't too busy during the dinner hour and staff was friendly upon greeting us when we arrived. The hostess promptly took us to a booth and it was a little dirty and I had accidentally kicked a piece of leftover silverware. I will note that the waitress didn't even pick it up until we gave our money for the check in order to get change back. I noticed that they had bottles of microbrew hereinclude Flying dog. It was a porter I had never tried and was torn because of the price. They wanted close to $6 for a bottle!!! I thought a second I was at the club with those bottle prices. I only got it because it was kind I never had and I did enjoy it. Now to food: I ordered the grilled fish tacos that came with a small side salad. I don't remember the menu mentioning the side salad but would of asked for the dressing on the side since it was swimming in it. Besides that this guilty free dinner was good and tasty. My husband ordered their meatloaf with chili. He said the chili was bland and could have used some work. The meatloaf the diner tried to "fancy" it up with its presentation but I thought it tasted horrible when I had a bite. Now, I'm no judge when it comes to meatloaf and only had a bite when my husband said that it tasted off. I think it was the gravy. Gross!!! He did think the Nutella shake was the highlight of his meal but wasn't even impressed by the that. The service here was horrible. The waitress ignored us the entire time. Not my favorite Silver Diner. I generally like Silver Diners because the food tastes fresh and they give decent sized portions and people are all friendly. It was generally the case this time except for the pancakes.... I got the Country Scrambler which comes with a side of silver dollar pancakes... and those pancakes were just NOT good. They were dry and hard. I took a bite and disliked them immediately. My friends got nice fluffy pancakes and I didn't understand why mine wasn't as good. I usually hate asking the waiter to bring out another food but my friends all agreed that the pancakes were just not up to par and Silver Diner has a 110% guarantee so I figured I'd put them to the test. So I asked our waiter for a different set of pancakes. He came and was nice about it and said he would take care of it. After waiting a really long time.... (my friends all finished and we were just waiting for the check), finally the pancakes came. I got 3 medium sized pancakes....that were dark brown. What? I don't understand. I was not pleased.....at all. Whatever, I didn't want to waste food so I just packed them to take home. Then the waiter told me he'd take care of my check.... Which was MISLEADING. Because he charged me for my meal but took off the "extra order of pancakes." I didn't order an "extra" set of pancakes....I wanted a replacement for the ones they had messed up on my original order (which they messed up again!) I don't think this is what 110% guarantee means. I feel that Silver Diners has really elevated itself in the past 10 years. The food choices are very up to date with interesting flavors and fresh ingredients. I LOVE their shrimp quesadilla! When I ordered it, I was just craving the flavor and wasn't expecting much from it. But it KNOCKED my socks off!! The shrimps were soo fresh and juicy. It wasn't that salty, but tasted sooo delicious! I've had multiple selections there and none of them disappinted. And don't get me started on their shakes!! They Banana Nutella is my all time favorite shake and I crave it if I don't have it regularly! read more

I go to this Silver Diner fairly often. I take taekwondo almost across the street at World Champion Taekwondo www.champkick.com . I have discovered I actually like this place a lot. The food is much better than diner quality, it is mostly organic and mostly locally sourced. The dishes are classic american with a bit of pizzazz. They do have alcohol. Bottled beer, four wines by the glass and champagne mimosas. Their breakfasts are great, but I enjoy going for burgers, fries and shakes. The dinners are good, too. I recommend the meatloaf or the pot roast, but if you want breakfast the bison huevo rancheros is my favorite. Their gourmet burgers may surprise people and the prices are not dirt cheap, but low for the quality in my opinion, which is what I am here to give you. The service is the biggest problem. For breakfast they are moving, for after work out burger and fries they move slowly. Regardless, they are always friendly and willing to help or fix things. read more

We ate a mid-afternoon dinner there four days ago with my mother and we were very pleased with everything. My mother & I each ordered the pesto veggie pasta with feta cheese ($12.99 plus $.99 for the cheese) and my husband ordered the lump crab cake platter ($16.99). For dessert, I ordered my own serving of bread pudding because it's my "obsession" dessert - and my mother & my husband shared a serving of bread pudding ($6.99/each, which was pricey - but it came with vanilla ice cream and butterscotch sauce). All of the food was *delicious*. In addition: our server was a sweet young guy, the interior of the diner is very attractive and the restroom was clean. (Update on 9/6/15): We ate a late morning lunch there today and it was again a very positive experience. My mother & I each ordered the same thing as before (still the same price), but we didn't bother with the feta cheese this time. My husband ordered the grilled flounder tacos ($11.99) and a cup of coffee ($2.89, which is pricey for a diner - although it also tasted better than the coffee at most diners). I just recently moved to this area and thought I'd continue my search for the best Eggs Benedict. Upon arriving we opened the door to what seemed like a cafeteria line that had no order. Apparently the people standing in line had already out their name down to be seated and we're just standing there to be seated. I'm not really one to wait so I choose to go to the bar seating area & get down to some eating. We were greeted with a smile & asked what we wanted to drink etc... We were ready to order & waited about 10 mins for our food, which is good! However, things suddenly took a turn when the eggs benedict arrived. The sauce tasted like a stick of melted butter & the yolk was hard, not a drop of runny yolk to smear on my muffin. Also, there was no choice given to the way the potatoes were served. No hash brown was available & by the time I finished the first muffin I felt if I finished the second it may cause an unhealthy rise in my cholesterol. I love how many options they have - such a spread of various items so you'll definitely find something you'll enjoy. I've never had any issues with the service and have almost always been able to get a table. I do see that sometimes they can get pretty busy and one time I was unable to get seating during late morning for breakfast/brunch on the weekend. That was fine though because they also take to-go orders. We placed our order and didn't have to wait too long for the food to be ready to go. The food is always excellent and consistent. I can always trust this location to provide a great experience. One of my go-to restaurants that's in a nice location right next to the Mosaic District so you can grab some food and drive over to Mosaic to either eat there or just walk around after your meal. The classic American diner is alive and well in the Silver Diner in Merrifield. I recent went out to the Silver Diner at 8150 Porter Road in Merrifield and enjoyed a fine night out. I was certainly amazed at the unique foods that were offered here in such a fun and lively setting. The Silver Diner was founded in 1989 as a place that was inspired by the old roadside diners that people would often see on the roads in the early days of the highway system. The place was designed to mix the classic style of the diner with the more modern food options that people are looking for. The restaurant places a strong emphasis on locally sourced foods. The menu also has a number of heart healthy, gluten free and vegan options to go along with its more traditional choices. The entrees here are very unique in that they focus on more ingredients and special flavors when compared with what you might find in a more traditional diner setting. This place is open for much of the day too. It opens at 6:30am and stays open until midnight or 2am on weekends. How Is the Design? The design clearly reflects the attitude and nostalgic feeling of the old diners that the place replicates. The Silver Diner has plenty of light and neon signs all around and some shiny surfaces. The walls have paintings of many old 1950s emblems. Some small jukeboxes can be seen on the tables too. How Are the People? The restaurant was very inviting and welcoming. The people there enjoyed bringing me out here to try the different foods that were available. I especially enjoyed how the restaurant had plenty of people who were prompt and knew how to treat the customers right. Great Foof Choices I loved how this place has a large variety of foods. The Spinach Feta Lamb Burger was unique for offering spinach and Cholula onions with local mushrooms. The side Greek salad especially adds to the flavor. The Mediterranean salad with chicken contained a healthy mix of romaine, cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes. The Triple Decker Club was served on delicious sourdough bread and featured free range turkey, ham, mozzarella and nitrate-free bacon. Lettuce and tomato were added to finish up a fine meal. The desserts were great as well in that they offered some impressive shakes with agave sweetened toppings. The Chunky Monkey Banana milkshake offered a mix of vanilla ice cream, bananas, chocolate chips and Oreo cookies to add a delicious flavor. The Low Fat Blood Orange Creamsicle shake was made with a vanilla ice cream and milk base while the blood orange lime puree added a sweet taste. Don't Forget Breakfast I will certainly need to make a point to come back for breakfast in the future. Fortunately, this place has a variety of omelet and griddle choices. The Quinoa Coconut Pancakes look especially attractive. I was amazed over the variety of detailed and appealing entrees at the Silver Diner. This place is not your typical diner. They have a lot of healthy and nutritious options to choose from. They even have a gluten free menu and they get products from local farms. At first I was so hesitant to go here-- especially right after the gym because I was literally imagining a diner filled with greasy food and bad salads, but my boy friend convinced me to turn into this diner. He said they have a good menu. I was glad I took that turn cause the food was delicious and service was great. I got the steak with eggs. I substitute the home fries for strawberries with a yummy yogurt/ cinnamon dip. However they charged extra for the strawberries, which I don't really understand. The steak was cooked the way I like and it was good with the eggs. The strawberries were good dip in the special dip. Yum~ My boyfriend ordered a milkshake and he didn't like it and he didn't even finish it. So don't get their healthy milkshakes. Happy I found this place! read more

Seriously stopped there for breakfast on my way to dropping my daughter off for orientation at the Post office and we both ordered the Caramel french toast with eggs and bacon and sweet tea. So for $37.00 we got 5 pieces of bread 2 extra crispy strips of bacon 2 eggs never got offered a refill on the sweet tea the french toast didn't even have butter and was bland with hard crust. A friend and I had a delightful lunch today at the Silver Diner in Merrifield. The food is delicious and you can eat as healthy or non-healthy as you like! They have many vegetarian options and also had non-dairy milk for my coffee. Our server Angie was excellent - pleasant and very efficient. I'll look for her next time I'm there. I usually go to the Silver Diner near the Springfield mall since that is near where I live. I have a storage unit in the neighborhood, so I decided to stop in here on the way back. This place is excellent just like the Springfield location. The decor and floorplan are even identical. You would swear you are in the same restaurant. I had a wrap which was a lamb gyro wrapped in naan bread. I also had a brownie and ice cream dish for dessert. The service was excellent and the prices were inexpensive in relation to the quality of the food. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. See my review of the Springfield location. read more

We are staying at the Homewood Suites that practically shares a parking lot with the Silver Diner. We didn't want dinner but wanted something small to eat so we went to get milkshakes. The milkshakes are about $7 a piece but totally worth it! I got the Nutella banana one and it was the best milkshake I've ever had. They bring out the regular glass and then a refill one so that you basically get 2 of the glasses of a milkshake so it's well worth the price. Service was friendly and helpful and I love the concept of a healthier restaurant. We will be going back before we leave in the next few days for breakfast or brunch. Amazing place, would recommend. UPDATE: I just had brunch here and it was AMAZING. I had the Banana French Toast and it was amazing. I also had a bowl of fruit and it was so fresh and great! This place has figured out how to do things right. Their food offerings have been modernized, so you can find both diner classics and trendier dishes more in synch with today's eating styles. It makes for a big menu - something I don't normally like - but it gives me choices I really appreciate. And the breakfasts we've had here have been delicious. Great coffee, too. I love the focus on local food, organics, and hormone-free meats. They've even replaced the ubiquitous Smuckers jam with a "natural" version that doesn't contain high fructose corn syrup. Thank you for that! The people who seat and serve us are very well trained, polite, enthusiastic, and seem to genuinely like their jobs and their customers. We particularly like Jon, who is an excellent waiter and who recognized us and welcomed us back warmly on our second visit.
