The restaurant was clean and kind of empty for 730am. the waitress "Strawberry" got us coffee and ordered our food..Banana Pancakes and ham steaks were great, The waitress not so much, we received our food and when we asked for ancillary items like extra syrup or butter, we were met with heavy "sigh" and attitude... throughout the whole meal, we never saw "Strawberry" again. No asking if everything was okay, didn't ask about coffee, nothing. so when we ask for the bill, she used this handheld ordering machine, and put in front of us, but then didn't tell us how much the bill was, just placed it there, and when we asked how much it was, "Strawberry" snorted and sighed and told us the amount,. The Handheld device you could give the tip and a "green thumbs up" and a "red thumb's down" and of course she got the red thumbs down and no tip. Now we would have just left this alone, However,......we went to the Front-End Manager and told him on the way out, and he seem to have the same attitude and the waitress, he snorted and shrugged his shoulders and said "OK" and that was it. That really sucked because i liked Silver Diner. Side note: her name tag actually said "Strawberry" So this experience was horrible. I had better service at a Basic Training Chow Hall, then i got here, and that is saying a lot, because in basic Training , you don't sit down to enjoy your food . This place is amazing I had breakfast here almost for a week when I was visiting here. The breakfast is delicious and fresh with so many options to choose from. The service is good and fast. They have an outside seating which is cool on nice sunny days. As in the attachment the egg Benedict and scrambled eggs were delicious and they have a turkey bacon which amazing if you don't eat pork. The mixed fruits were fresh. The food is fine, service is good but the value proposition is off - they are overpriced for diner food. $20 Greek salad w/chicken. Sure, its the going rate at real restaurants but this is a diner. Most importantly, the cleaning standards at this particular SD are well below acceptable. The millwork is fuzzy with grime and dirt and the ivory knobs on the juke boxes are covered in grease and dirt. You know when you can see dirt like that there is 5x more dirt you cannot see. Yuck. The Silver Diner in the Merrifield neighborhood, just off Gallows Road, was a nice backdrop for an early morning breakfast with friends on Sunday before hitting the road to a few vineyard tastings. The food was really well cooked. We were seated rather quickly despite what looked to be a full house. And our service, by none other than Suman, was superb. This gentlemen was great! Super friendly, very informative, helped answer any questions, checked in regularly, was just all around perfect. All in all our experience was exceptional! We'll be back. read more

My girlfriend and I saw this place online and decided to give it a shot as we are both from out of town. Upon our arrival we were sat in a booth. The hostess was super nice. After ordering our drinks we were asked to move booths because another server complained we were sat in his section and not with him as our server. We happily moved as weird and ridiculous as we thought it was. My girlfriend also saw a baby spider crawl out of her napkin that had her silverware wrapped up in it. At the new table we noticed ants crawling around the table and I actually killed 3 before realizing there were more under the salt and pepper holders. Very disappointed in my breakfast. Ordered (for pick up) when I got home, my lumberjack breakfast was a major disappointment. My bacon was under cooked. Had to finish cooking myself. The over easy eggs were over hard. The pancakes were fine but I thought they came with maple syrup? Silver diner is fine if you go there and eat. Take out option needs more quality control. I would have taken it back but I used my maple syrup, finished cooking my bacon, and threw out the hockey pucks... which were supposed to be eggs over easy. I cooked my own eggs. This diner is a bit upscale for a diner and so much fun! It's a little retro but the menu isn't--with its very updated vegan and vegetarian options including its health shake and oat milk shakes that taste just like the real deal--yes! So i walked in with the hubs and two other guys that I had just met that day but were such a hoot and we sat down and I read the menu. I ordered the watermelon cucumber mint lemonade and the shrimp and pesto white beans--so yummy! And for dessert I ordered the plant based black and white shake. The hubs ordered crab soup and chicken pot pie. I tasted his and it was very yummy too! The two guys got apps, fried Brussels sprouts that were amazing and fried catfish. Well, I have had some issues with the service here. Missing utensils, weird salad, asked for hot sauce and I received ketchup. To be honest, the only items I like from here are the blue cheese dressing for the wings and the turkey bacon. Plus, they overcharge for sides. I forgot, I really like the garlic spinach, but they don't give you much for the price. I'm still trying to figure out why I didn't receive hot sauce even though I clearly asked the woman in the blue blazer if they had hot sauce, she checked and said yes. However, I received ketchup! To counter the 600 calorie salmon, my wife and I shared the triple layer chocolate cake, it was outstanding. I love it when the meal arrives looking just like the photographs. Don't worry you can still get the American style breakfast to include pancakes with REAL maple syrup . This diner is open 24 hours and as they advertise if the line is to the door it's still just a ten minute wait. Kudos to the hiring manager for the most pleasant staff every time I go (which is often). I am not a fan of diners, but my husband finds them a mainstay in his culinary repertoire. He convinced me to dine out with him during our stay at the hotel next door. Well, I was enchanted with the retro decor - especially the jukebox that featured some wonderful oldies. The service was excellent, and we had the added delight of bantering with our waiter, Peter. Perhaps, although he was a yougin,' he appreciated our sense of humor and the comedies we enjoyed before the dawn of the 21st century. The hot chocolate was top-rated and for a Goldilocks the temperature was perfect, neither too hot nor too cold. My husband enjoyed his homemade chicken soup and the fresh cod dinner. But his favorite was the "World's Smallest Sundae." I guess no matter how old you are, dessert is always the most exciting part of the meal. This place was a "Blast from the Past," where everyone was polite and respectful, and truly seemed to care about our likes and dislikes. Turn it up. Hate it? Turn it down. I think its a fun place to take the kids you have any. My friend and I met up for an early dinner and both ended up ordering breakfast entrees. We ordered the low fat vegetarian omelette and the bison huevos rancheros. The omelette was stuffed with mushrooms, zucchini and tomatoes and paired with a side of fruit. Im sure if I didn't omit the cheese it would've been better. My friend seemed to love her bison dish. It looked very appealing with a large portion of guacamole on top and sides of large tortilla chips. We got it all figured out since my friends said they were still parking. Our swrver was really prompt- her name's Angie. No words, calling the manager on duty is a waste of time, writing on the comment note cards is just being mean to trees. I still eat here, just inside only, no take out, delivery or pick up orders. I had an ok experience at this diner...Dasha sat our family, but she seemed annoyed when I requested that we sit at the corner booth since I felt it would be easier to have the other customers less distracted with our "active" toddler. We did have a WONderful server, Roza, who was very attentive. I ordered the Goat Cheese Spinach Turkey Sandwich - because I love goat cheese, and turkey was a healthier option...And I really enjoyed it! We ( me and hubby) ordered the oat milk protein pancakes, we've had them several times at different locations, we love them. Our order took a long time even though it wasn't very busy ( a Wednesday middle of the day). Unfortunately our pancakes we totally raw, runny uncooked inside. They looked great on the outside. We sent them back and water an additional 10 min or more for another order which was just slightly more done. We ate around the middle and let the waiter know it was just slightly better. I wanted to try true American food at true American diner and chose this place. I have tried BBQ burger. It looks great, but it is so tasteless! I asked for medium, but it was VERY well done. Patty was over cooked and it wasn't juicy, onions were uncooked and looked like worms. Creamy mushrooms were only mushrooms, without any cream sauce. But bacon was amazing and bun was good too. My husband have tried meatloaf. It was a little bit better than my burger, but nothing interesting and special. Milkshakes were very ordinary. Celebrated a friend's birthday here last night. The menu has changed so much since I came here last time (over 10 year ago...) I still enjoy the good old milk shake as much as I did years ago. I'm glad they have upped their game to keep up with the competition and demand. The menu is a lot bigger with a lot more options. I got the flat iron steak, medium well due to being pregnant.
