Consistent low quality service. We live close so we've tried this place 3 or 4 times. The service has been awful every time. Tried going on a Sunday night the place was empty. We waited 15 minutes without seeing a waiter. Hostess was joking with her friend at the front full staff messing around in the back. We left and won't go back, every time we've gone the service is extremely slow. The food is pretty good so it's a shame. read more

During a very busy pre-concert event at Washington Nationals Park. We were able to have two coffees there despite the crowds of people we were treated like the only customers in the place. After the concert with the crowds of people queuing up,we were quickly seated, and enjoyed a late night breakfast. the staff from the waitress to the owner and manager took great care of us. Came in for a late night meal. The music from the second floor was loud enough to be enjoyed downstairs. Downstairs is a full diner, no age restriction, full bar and breakfast/dinner menu. Server was very attentive although it was midnight l, food was good and they ever give you warm syrup. At about 1am music stopped playing and they started getting prepared for closing time. read more

TW- they put craisins in their coleslaw. Don't get it if you like coleslaw with your meal. Anyway, the pancakes are awesome. I tried to crab cake special. Two crab cakes, coleslaw and old bay fries. Personally not a big fan of the fries because they didn't feel like they came fresh out the grease and weren't so much crispy but like they had been out for awhile. My partner got the smokehouse cheddar burger. It's super messy, but fun to eat I guess if you really don't mind . He enjoyed it alot. He had the same reservations about the fries as well. We tried the Chunky Monkey Milkshake which i will give a 10/10. Our server was super nice and chatty and explained they they are super flexible with their menu. I was able to order a single pancake. They have beyond burger and Bison burgers as a substitute for their beef burgers. No Turkey burgers though. I would also recommend the bison huevos ranchero which is amazing no matter what location. Their pancakes are super fluffy and consistent. Flat iron steak and eggs are good too! They recently changed the chicken and waffles to chicken and French toast. Idk about the new French toast but the chicken is the bomb dot com! But i pray they stop with the craisins... very traumatized. Three stars for that dang on coleslaw. read more

Delicious food, incredible atmosphere, great pricing, and an amazing selection. This will be my go-to place in the yard moving forward - the staff is attentive, and the atmosphere leaves little else to be desired. Food was great as with all their locations and the staff were courteous as always. The outside area was bright but cover was provided. The only downside was the parking! Very limited. There was a garage close by but it was expensive and the pitch (steep drive down) was more than I was comfortable with. Recommend uber! read more

This is a place where you have to know what you're getting. There are many young people that work here but they all seem to love their job and the customer service for the MOST part is always great! This diner was recommended to me by the hotel front desk. This is a farm to table diner, all locally sourced. You can also order the entire menu any time of the day! The service was friendly, the food was delicious and served promptly. I ordered the loaded fries on the appetizer menu- loaded with bacon, fresh melted shredded cheese and Old Bay- with a ranch dressing to dip in, IT WAS DELICIOUS!! I also ordered a pineapple juice mimosa- also good! Typical diner ambiance with a lot of people eating, even at almost 1pm local time. There is also a Social Club upstairs. 4 stars for the food and servers, 2 stars for the hostesses downstairs. Pretty good selection of food and drinks, generous portions, and plenty of seating. Servers have been fine, however, I would like to suggest to management that they retrain their hostesses. I have been several times, and some of them have been rude and acted like I was bothering them to ask for a table. They also need to be better at clearing up the confusion of the upstairs vs downstairs sections. One time, I walked in asking for a table for two, but the hostess asked me to go upstairs which was incorrect, given that I just wanted a seat at the Diner which is downstairs. Another time, I made reservations (not realizing that the reservations are for Silver Social upstairs). She looked at me with an annoyed expression on her face and just told me to go upstairs but did not explain why. I'm sure I'm not the first person to have made that mistake, and I was confused, but before I could ask why, she just turned her attention to something else (maybe her phone or the screen in front of her). After talking to the hostess upstairs, I canceled my reservations and decided to go back downstairs to ask if I could get a table downstairs, and she replied after what felt like 20 seconds of first staring at me blankly, and quietly said, "it'll be a 25 minute wait." Everyone else I was with thought it was a really weird interaction and that she looked like she had no ounce of motivation to do her job. read more

This place is around the corner from my house so I've been a few times and have also ordered takeout and every time there has been something wrong with the food. Missing items, undercooked items, absurdly oversalted items (and I'm no fan of low salt), or just plain not good items. Even their flavor pairings are head scratching. Why do pies or french toast need a standard extra caramel swirl? Why does the club sandwich have ham and mozzarella when it's supposed to be just the turkey and bacon? The place itself is nice. And the service is nice (except the to-go which is usually slower than promised and prone to mixups). What's really incredible to me is how overrated it is. I think 3 stars is as defensible a rating as 2 stars. I'd rate it 2.5 if I could. Even someone rating 3 and saying it's 3.5 would be defensible. But 4 or 5? No way. Not even the points system they use works! This is no dig at the company's capacity for good food. I've been to their Silver Brasserie and it is so much better. So this review is really a plea to change this Navy Yard location to that concept, because, as it stands, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

Our daughter had the Oaxaca and said it was very very good. AND - they have grape juice!! No one ever has grape juice! We also had the guava mint ginger ale - which was fabulous. Located right outside Nationals Park in the ballpark district, the Silver Diner is a perfect spot to grab some grub before you watch the Nationals lose a game. This is the best diner in town. The burger is delicious along with the apple pie. It is the classic American taste which I love. The service was really great along with the location across the nationals stadium. Parking is just hard to find around the area. They have other locations in the DMV area and I am looking forward to go to the one in Glebe road. There was a wedding AND a bridal shower occuring at the same time. There is upstairs to the restaurant and the wedding was happening up there. There is also an outdoor porch area where the bridal shower was occuring. Most of the seating inside was high top seating. All the wines are made in house and there was a large selection! Our server (who may also be the manager/owner?) was very kind and explained some of the wines for us. We got 2 of their flights and they were all excellent. The Library Collection has some unique drinks. They do sell most of their bottles to go (pic of pricing in this review!). They also make food and they all smelled great. And, the bench seating cushions were worn through almost to the stuffing which was really surprising that they would let them get that bad at a restaurant like this. That said, we had a great meal with a great server. I don't think we'll be back though.

They definitely didn't hold back, and it was way better than the one I had at the hotel. Now the food... whew. I ordered the Cajun shrimp and grits, and as a Southern girl who grew up eating grits, I had some expectations. The shrimp were cooked well, the tomatoes were delicious, and the customer service was outstanding. But the grits just weren't for me. The texture threw me off, the sausage wasn't my favorite, and even after giving it a fair chance, I couldn't get into it. I even sampled a little pasta from my friend's plate, and while it had good flavor, I still felt like it needed just a little something more. Overall, Milk & Honey gets a 6/10 from me. The drinks? Absolutely worth it. The service? Top-tier. The shrimp? Pretty good. The shrimp and grits? I'll pass next time. And then... a guy across the restaurant complimented me, and I was convinced he was talking to someone behind me. Turns out... nope, he was talking to me! That definitely added a little extra entertainment to dinner. If you decide to visit, I'd recommend trying one of the fish dishes instead. But hey--that's just how food goes!
