Fair experience with lunch today in that my party's food arrived fairly quickly. Two of us found lunch fairly good but my friend received a dish she found unpalatable. The waiter responded quickly and she asked for a different dish which had not arrived after 20 minutes. She decided to cancel her re-order and leave. I have visited this place on numerous occasions. This time was the worst I was quite surprised at the prices of the dishes which had gone up by 3 to 4 dollars. So each dish she can range anywhere from $20-$30. The portion of food is small for what you pay for. We ordered Szechuan chicken, the chicken tasted very rubbery. It seemed undercooked. The fried ginger chicken was better as it had real chicken. The green beans were dry and cold. The customer service is very poor. Our waiter was quite rude. It seems that they cater more to Chinese tourists than non-Chinese. Strange thing is the food that the Chinese tourists ordered looked better with large portions. Definitely would not go back. Fast and good food from this Chinese restaurant and delivery. All the sauces, plates etc were included. Only thing we found unusual was the very high price of the fried wontons, which were plain with no filling. $12 per order. Not knowing this, our group ordered 2 orders! The food was not that great. We ordered a spring roll and it was a fried donut with vegetables in it. I never seen an egg roll like this before. The food was very oily which is expected for Chinese and the dishes were pretty expensive. We ordered won ton soup, fried rice, sweet and sour chicken balls, beef and broccoli, vegetable chow mein, two hot teas, and 3 spring rolls. Having been to Silver dragon in Calgary, we thought trying out the location in Banff would be a safe bet. The restaurant was nicely decorated and clean. The food was relatively good however the prices were ridiculous. We decided on just a few small items as a snack. Medium bowls of wonton and egg drop soup, half order of dumplings and shui Mai which came to $30. We wanted to try the Szechuan green beans but decided that $18 for green beans was out of the question. I guess since its Banff and one of the only Asian restaurants around, they can get away with it however we won't be indulging there again anytime soon. read more

Very very good Chinese food in the West. I had low expectations for Chinese restaurants in Alberta but the food is exceptional. However, it's a bit pricey but it's definitely worth it if you're looking for a good meal. Almost all dishes start from $20 and up. Their service is also amazing and the servers are very friendly. The boss himself came by to ask us how the meal is and gave us suggestions as to what to try here. All in all, it was a good food and good experience. read more

We should have known better when we walked in and there were (only!) Asian Tour Groups seated and talking very loudly. We should have exited...we didn't. We ordered an incredibly insipid Hot and Sour Soup - thin, tasteless, cheaply made, not filled with goodies like it is supposed to be - and the strangest egg rolls that I have ever seen - they were battered and deep-fried - really! - they looked like deep-fried twinkies! - and did not taste good at all - JP left half of his uneaten. We segued to their Palace Chicken - battered and deep-fried with a spicy hot and sour sauce - it too was not good - it tasted too stringent - one puckered! - there is no finesse in that kitchen. None. And the chef is surely a smoker because he cannot taste how bad his food really is. The Palace Chicken was too tart in that way that cheap Chinese Food places are in the States - they are making Chinese food that fulfills the barest minimum - no one is making much of an effort in Banff. We also had their "fancy" fried-rice - that was not fried at all. It was simply steamed rice with a little pork, chicken, veggies and several shrimps thrown in...I would have thrown it out. It too had no flavor. I honestly do not know how they are doing it! The waiter was far too brisk and officious - lol! - and offered to take away our chop sticks - I guess he felt we were too Western and would never use them - lol! - Idiot! - we are from Los Angeles - we know how to use chop sticks! And at another point he walked over and took away, without a word, the red-capped soy sauce - which we had been using - and replaced it with the green-capped lower sodium version. LOL! No explanation was given! He really was a numb-skull. We have never had a good Chinese meal when we could see a mountain in the near distance. My bad for not remembering! Absolutely the best. Delicious food and very friendly service. A bit pricy but consider it is located in busy tourist area, it is understandable. Now we are from Toronto and we eat at Chinese restaurants all the time. When we all think this restaurant is great, trust me, it is great. We arrived at a time when there were two bus load of tourists, so the service was a bit slow. But the food was so delicious we think it was worth the wait. The stir fried pork and pancake (Mu Hsu pork) was definitely the best I ever had. The pancake was very thin but didn't break easily as some restaurants would make. I wish I could order it again. I went to this restaurant recently and found it extremely unsatisfying. I would give it no stars but unfortunately, it's not an option. We ordered the seafood noodle soup. It was $9.25 per bowl, per person. When we received the food, it contained the following: two tablespoons of noodles, one scallop, one shrimp, one piece of squid, and a few veggies. We were shocked at the minimal quantity of the food. It was less food than one serving of instant ramen! A price of $9.25 was too expensive for this noodle bowl. I declined to pay 18% tip for crappy service so he brought credit card machine to me and stood right in front of me to make sure I do give him decent amount of tip so upon noticing him staring at me while entering amount of tip, I decided to give him 1% tip upon which he asked me how come I was giving him that low amount.
