Came here the other day for my birthday/anniversary. It is absolutely beautiful inside, and bigger than I thought. The food, wow! We got the cheese curds, prolly the best I've ever had, but definitely have to order more than one order because they don't give you much... the Cesar salad was decent, but the French onion soup is a must! For entrees my kids got the cheese ravioli and burger. They loved both, fries were just plain. Adults, pot roast which was really good, house burger, also really good. My husband got the short rib risotto, he said was good but would have been better if they didn't smother it with the gravy, that it took away from the risotto. I got the tortellini which was really good, just needing more sauce. Dessert was on point though! Got the cream brûlée, hazelnut ice cream, chocolate cake, and dessert coffee. read more

We went here for a date night for the first time and we were really impressed right when we walked in. It's a really nice vibe - a perfect vibe for a romantic date night. The staff was extremely friendly and they were accommodating to us when we asked to move seats to a quieter area. The owner of the restaurant even came over to talk to us several times. The bread that is served at the beginning of the meal is seriously so good and they provide both a sweet and a savory option. The sushi was also amazing, I would absolutely come back here for the sushi. The flatbread however was not cooked enough so it wasn't very warm or crispy. The pasta sauce had good flavor but the noodles were a bit under cooked. I think the food here is pretty good, but it does seem a bit overpriced. read more

Went here for a friend's birthday. Food was good but overpriced (kid's cheeseburger meal was $10 burger and fries + $1 cheese + $3 drink) and slow to arrive. Service was meh, slow to get refills and never got mustard. Maybe if server didn't have a guaranteed 20% tip it would have been better. Add another 3% to use a credit card. Overall things were yummy and I tried the buffalo burger which was also yummy but for the money I'd probably go elsewhere. read more

Our first trip here, our friends third time already to this new place. They had said that the food is always consistently great, but the service was really slow each time. The food was good enough to go back We had reservations so we got right in and had a table for six. We had drinks and appetizers pretty quickly. The drinks are SO GOOD and SO COOL. My husband got a smoked old fashioned. He loves Buffalo Trace and this was made with that. The smoked dome thing was very cool. I got the martini with blue curaçao and got it bubbled. Very very cool. It was a delicious drink too. Then I got the baywatch cocktail and it was so so good. The strawberry bruschetta was so good. Unique and delicious. The cheese curds were fantastic. They look like giant croutons and they were very lightly breaded and delicious. The caprese towers were really big and really good too. For dinner my friend raves about the grouper. He has gotten it 3 times and loved it all 3 times. I got the pot roast. It was alittle dry for my liking but it tasted really good. The garlic mashed potatoes were pretty dry. Thankfully there was gravy. Everything was good. Just alittle dry. My husband for the Swiss burger and it was delicious. Cooked perfectly. read more

We will not be back. We spend $200 and only two meals out of three were edible. The steak my husband ordered was about 90% fat. They say that they age and trim steaks for best cuts?! They also say they are known for steaks ... you can get better steak anywhere else. It's a waste of money to eat here. The service is very slow, the staff stands behind a makeshift bar/counter and barely check on you. I just don't understand the manager (possibly owner) walks around and seats you. If I owned a business and this is the quality of food that is being put out I'd like to know. By the way this is our second bad experience here, we came about 8 months ago and had a similar issue. Went for hubby's birthday after seeing pictures and reviews. Reviews are so all over the place I was actually nervous. No need because food and service were excellent. Best meal we've had in a long time. Cocktails are fantastic . The waitresses recommendations were all great. Warm bread is served with fried capers ( never saw this before and loved it). There is a regular butter and also a honey mustard butter ( sounds weird but trust me it's delicious). Salad has spiraling carrots and beets. Very fresh. Dressings taste homemade. Soup should have been thicker, but tasty. I got cioppino. It has a good amount of high quality seafood and 4 big pcs of garlic bread for dipping. Very good. Birthday boy got a 10 oz filet and it was cooked perfectly. The sounds of delight he made with every bite told me right away he loved it. It comes with crispy potatoes and a cute flaming salt decoration. The pistachio cheesecake got to go looks divine. We will be back. Great meal . read more

Super disappointing Father's Day brunch. Saw the brunch menu on FB page and it looked delicious. Bacon, crab cakes, ribs. Lots of items that my husband would love. Too bad he didn't get to try many of them. Let's summarize our visit shall we? Got n and seated for our noon reservations fairly quickly. Drinks ordered in a timely manner by our super friendly waitress Wendy. She was a delight ! The bloody Mary's were yummy. The buffet was a whole other story. It was like the first time they did one. Food was hard to get. The servers were always empty. We never got any of that bacon. Or crab cakes or pretzels, or the watermelon cucumber salad. And the ribs that were some of the last ones made were inedible. The first ones were fall off the bone. The last ones were tough, impossible to chew and not the same flavor as the first ones. How when you take reservations and know the numbers of people you are expecting do you run out of food ? For 35.00 a person this was not well planned out. I don't know how the Mother's Day brunch went, but if It was anything like this I would stop offering them until you get organized. We have been to numerous brunch places and never have we run into this issue of no food available. For 35.00 I had potatoes, five pieces of cubed watermelon, two ribs a chicken wing and a cinnamon roll. Seriously ?! read more

Been here a few times and its been okay. Their regular menu has a decent amount of choices. Their drinks are fun, although steep in price. We attended one of the brunches they had in November and it is not something I'd recommend without improvement. There wasn't a ton of options and the food was cold. So all of that considered they'd be a 3 star review. However I had to knock this down due to our experience yesterday. We were taking some out of town guests out for dinner and I checked their hours, they were to be open until 9:30 so I made an 8:15 reservation. Our party of 5 showed up only to be turned away at the door because they closed early. You have to at least have the courtesy to notify those people that have a reservation if you will be closing early or better yet, shut down your reservations. I understand things happen but for us to all waste the time of going there when you could have easily notified me is unprofessional. Thank goodness for the new establishment that opened up down the street. read more

My wife and I took her sister and mother here for dinner Monday night. Very nice atmosphere and upscale. The waitress immediately took our orders for three Wines and a smoked old-fashioned. The old fashion drink was excellent with a lot of smoke, great cherry and an orange slice. We decided to try three appetizers since everything looks so good on the menu. We ordered calamari, cheese curds and the Saganaki. The saganaki was flamed at the table and was very good. A little bit different than what I've seen at Greek restaurants, as it Seemed to have a bit more of a breading on it. But the taste was the same and it was very good. The calamari was good and came with a marinara sauce and another sauce. It was tender and not real rubbery like some are. The cheese curds were excellent and came with a dipping sauce of a ranch type dressing. I've not seen cheese curds into little squares like this, but they were very good and tasted just like regular cheese curds that were fried. Two of us decided to split a hamburger with cheese And house raw fries. The burger was excellent and the fries were nice and crisp. The other two decided to split the asparagus salad with balsamic dressing. It was very good also. This is a great place with a great menu. It's very upscale so much restaurant she would see downtown Chicago or other major cities. The price is comparative to those also. Such a disastrous night! Met friends there and it was our pick. Saganauki cheese was so thin it was overcooked, 2nd one was so thick it wasn't melted at all! My grouper was sooo salty I couldn't eat it! My husband's salmon looked like cod and obviously had msg cause he had a terrible sneezing episode and had a headache when we left. This place has definitely gone down hill. Our friends weren't impressed with their meal and their salad was brought with the meal. We went there on New Year's Eve. We had a reservation. We were seated by the windows on their enclosed patio. It was very cold. They need to add some insulation or heating to that area. We waited a long time for our food. When I asked our waitress to check on our food, she replied in a surly tone that she had been checking on our food. Unfortunately she did not communicate that information to her customers. She said we came in at a busy time. One person in our party said that their food was very salty. A second person ordered a pasta dish with sausage but there was no sausage in the plate she received. As we left the restaurant, we saw three servers in the back of the restaurant, apparently on a break. Perhaps that's why the service was so slow, if several members of the wait staff all take a break at the same time. Based on our experience, I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

We just had an amazing dinner at Silver Fox. Waiter, Luis was outstanding and enjoyable to talk to. He was very attentive even tho he was also managing the bar. Manager, Linda stopped by the table a few times just to say hello and make sure everything was good. She is definitely a great asset. We really enjoy the ambiance here at Silver Fox. Poorly executed on every level. It started with a very sarcastic hostess. We had a 6:30p reservation and after 25 min I asked how much longer it would be because we had our daughter with us. After her unnecessary rudeness we went to leave but they called us for a table. She was a mature woman who lacked maturity. The Caprese Tower was presented nicely however the ratio of olive oil to balsamic vinegar was opposite of what it should have been. It was a literal bath of olive oil with mere dots of balsamic (see pics). The tomatoes must be beefsteak tomatoes and directly out of the refrigerator bc they were so cold they were difficult to eat. More basil was also needed. The entire dish lacked any flavor. The French Onion Soup felt traditional and on point. Very good onion flavor w/ an ample layer gooey cheese. It would turn out to be the bright spot of this meal. The Charcuterie Board had good portions of each item however the sizes varied so greatly that they were not easily eaten together, specifically the 2 meats were large deli style slices. The Pot Roast seemed like a safe bet but was extremely disappointing. The dish lacked enough au jus and the meat was not warm. The vegetables were barely cooked almost raw. The Monkfish was on the Valentine's Day Special Menu and the disappointment continued. I have had monkfish many times and have never had it buried in sauce. The dish consists of approx 70% sauce. It tasted breaded to me however there is no mention of breading in the description. The preparation was odd and did not highlight the fish which should have been the star of the dish. It was not remotely worth $49. The wine list is limited but the selections were nice and they had many signature cocktails. This is probably a better bar than it is a restaurant. The waitress was overwhelmed but handled it extremely well. She handled this busy period much better than the hostess. The bottom line is the execution just isn't there to justify the same prices as similar restaurants in Naperville and Oak Brook. There is a lack of understanding on how to complete the dishes and with the temperatures being so off it seems timing is an issue as well. We will not go back and I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

The ambiance of the restaurant was beautiful, warm, clean, inviting and comfortable. Emily our server was phenomenal! She was highly attentive, friendly, helpful and ensured we enjoyed our dining experience to the fullest. Now for the main event, the food. Where shall I begin... the sushi. My son said it was excellently prepared with great flavors and presentation. The shrimp cocktail was delicious, the cherry sauced pork chop and steak & scallops were divine. I admit I am have pretty high standards for service and food; Silver Fox met them all. We live 2.5 hours away and will certainly make the trip just for the cuisine. There are some really great wait staff here and some very non attentive servers. Every time I see the manager he walks by never says Hi, never asks how the food is. Being in the industry for years this is so important to customers. This was not the first time either, this is an occurrence all the time. The food is good but extremely expensive. With the prices your paying you should have top service. Then when you pay with a credit card you get charged 3%, when you are already spending a fortune. read more

Absolutely spectacular!!!! So happy we decided to try our new restaurant in town. The menu is extensive as is the wine and special drinks list. They make their own VODKA!!!! The decor is pleasingly warm and inviting. Very comfortable and not noisy atmosphere. We dined on BBQ flatbread pizza and the burger with homemade chips!!! Wow. BUT....we started with the Avocado Crostini's with bacon jam and balsamic! Out of this world wonderful. We will definitely be back soon. Would easily be a 4 but service lacks basics. The food was overall delicious. Owner and or chef? If you care... The front of the house is letting the kitchen down. Empty plates from appetizers sat. Long. Drinks and waters had to be requested. Like we were an afterthought. And it continued throughout the meal. Some of my party's entrees were simply warm rather than hot like they should be. This despite runners bringing the entrees out. Weird. Why have runners? And why can't these guys bus the tables for the waitresses? We all finished our entrees. Nobody had touched their plates in over ten minutes. And neither did our waitress. I literally was tempted to bus the table myself. She came to the table and told us there were "free slices of Easter Jelly bean cake (evidently left over from brunch, nice!), the automatic gratuity is already included. Thanks!" Ahaaa!....That explained it. No problem with the gratuity. But this left a sour taste in two former city restaurant vets mouths only because this server was clearly phoning it in i.e. not really trying. Because she knew she was guaranteed a good tip. So she just didn't CARE. (?) Whaaaaaaaaaaat? That kind of service and server doesn't really fit this place. I get that it's Yorkville. Fine. But if you're gonna do it in the kitchen you BETTER be doing it in the front of the house. You got the food. You got the booze, wine. You got a nice looking place. Then do it RIGHT. If you're getting the same service you'd get at the VFW or pizza place it's just half aasing it. If she's the owner or chef's mother in law or whatever just ignore it and let her do her thing. But if she's not, and if the other waitresses are doing it then it's time to sharpen their skills. It's really not that much to correct to get all the way there. Don't make people drive to Naperville or Oakbrook because you don't want to make your servers bus and serve a table properly. That's ridiculous. It's an easy layup. Handle your "biness." read more

Went here for the first time with a large group of 15+ And this place didn't disappoint!!! The service was fast and friendly and they made sure our large group had full drinks at all times. The Food was outstanding! Our group all had different meals but not one person complained. I myself order the Pot Roast dinner and it was so tender and delicious! Silver Fox has created a great ambiance both inside and outside on the patio, but unfortunately after trying the food twice it has fallen flat for me. They offer a special menu of drinks called lushees that you can only order if seated on the patio, or you have to go outside to order. Fine, no big deal.... I'm not sure though that any alcohol is going into them. They taste good, but pack zero punch. The cheese curd appetizer is unique, but a very small portion for the price. Flatbreads were just ok and the chopped salad came with a very boring tasteless dressing. Tried the asparagus salad and salmon too and both were just very one note and boring.... For the clientele and location the prices are far too high for not very exiting food. read more

When first walking in, the environment of the restaurant was very open, bright, modern and it had a nice vibe. The staff were all wearing masks but customers were more relaxed with the mask wearing which seems to be the norm at most restaurants. There is a nice display case of proteins at the entrance. My eyes were immediately drawn to the fresh huge clams in the case. I went ahead and ordered the baked clams and fried calamari appetizer. The calamari was cooked perfectly and delicious. The clams on the other hand were a visual let down upon arrival. They tasted good but they were extremely tiny clams that were not what I had envisioned based upon my assumption of the display case. For drinks we ordered an Old Fashion which was created extremely wrong. There was a cloudiness as if something was muddled or a pre-mix was used. Just for good measure we ordered 3 of them and all of them were equally wrong. We switched over to a few beers and ordered Modelo and Goose Island Sofie. For food we had the 10oz aged filet which was ordered medium rare. The outside was charred burnt and the inside was served blue rare. The potatoes were delicious and the flame on the serving board was a nice touch. A side salad was added for a premium charge which was sad since it consisted of only lettuce, noodled cut carrots and beets...no tomato, croutons, cheese, onions...let's just say it was not great. The 2nd dish was an awesome bison burger which was cooked perfectly. The fries were perfect and there was a red dipping oil sauce which was addictive to keep dipping in. I'd order the burger again if I were to come back. A cup of French onion soup was the add on with the burger and the soup was tasty. The service was extremely good. Everybody was friendly, the table was constantly kept clear, and the manager came in to check in on us a few times. We just always say that all is well and it's typically not worth sending anything back to the kitchen. In total it was a little over $160. The only charge on the bill that I thought was a slap in the jaw was the $14 Goose Island Sofie beers! That's $14 a pint and we had a few of them! It seems a little bit of a stretch to charge that much for a craft beer. I've been to practically every restaurant on Randolph St, Fulton Market and River North in Chicago and a craft beer isn't that much in the city! Anyways, we drove 30 minutes to get to Silver Fox since we were meeting friends for dinner. For the price point I'd drive 40 minutes the other direction to get to Mortons, Gibsons, Hugo Frogs, or Ruth's Chris. If I had to compare quality of food, I'd consider Silver Fox just a sliver above a Chili's or Applebee's. read more

The only reason I'm giving two stars is because the ambiance of the place is on point. Besides that, I will never return here. We both ordered the ribeye steaks, one medium and one medium rare. When we got our steaks, the presentation was awesome, but upon cutting into them, they were still cold on the inside and completely undercooked. The service was also sub par, and for a near $250 bill for two steaks and a bottle of wine, I can say, this place is not worth it at all. read more

Four of us went to the Silver Fox on July 1 for dinner with a couple who had already been there and had the most wonderful time. Walked in to a relaxed, chill environment and were greeted by our server Robin. The highlight of our drink order was the smoked Old Fashioned. We had apps of cheese curds, flatbread pizza and fried calamari which were all very tasty. We all had various types of burgers which were cooked the way we requested. I have to add that Robin was fantastic. She took great care of us and also put up with our shtick. I have to add that she had some pretty creative lines of her own which fit quite nicely with ours. Also kudos to Linda the manager who made sure we were treated well and provided a dessert on the house. All in all, a wonderful dining experience. Emily was our server (she had amazing blending of her eye shadow) and was extremely personable, bubbly, and knowledgeable of the menu. Her ability to read her customers, answer questions, and give suggestions was incredible and insightful. This went well above and beyond the stand waitress customer experience. The cocktails and drinks were phenomenal and the appetizer and entree recommendations were above expectation. I gave her authority to pick an entree of her preference - and the ribeye was simply incredible. I'd recommend this place and Emily as the server 20 times out of 10. Bad food bad service. Went there on Mother's Day. The menu had a page dedicated to frozen drinks - but no blender. Why was that on the menu? It was a paper sheet in the menu that could have been removed. The crab cakes were way over done, between 7 of us, we only ate half of one. My bison burger was basically blackened and not in good way but the extremely well done, burnt way and they had the wrong toppings. Extremely well done. The bread was like a giant crouton. Hard and dry. How does a restaurant mess up bread. Why did our waitress have our table and another one that was literally the farthest one from our table which contributed to the poor service. After three hours, went to find the waitress to pay, she was at the other table on the opposite side of the restaurant. The manager was friendly enough and someone else was able to help me. I was standing with her by the bar and she was pulling up my bill on the computer. She turned to ask me a question and another waitress just cleared out what she was doing after the person helping me asked her not to, because she had to put in and order. We wrote off this restaurant several years ago after multiple visits with poor food and vowed to never go back. Well, we decided to give them another try again this weekend. And nothing has changed. It's too bad they can't deliver a better quality meal. The ambiance is great and the drinks are amazing. I ordered the meatloaf and it showed up room temperature, dry and tasteless. It's pretty hard to mess up meatloaf and mashed potatoes but they did. Zero stars on this dish. My wife had the tortellini. While it was hot the sauce was pastey. We went to Silver Fox for Mother's Day, first time visiting. The buffet was mediocre at best. There was a small mixture of breakfast and lunch items with an omelette area and small carving area that offered prime rib, but really not much to choose from on the buffet table. First time that we have ever been to a buffet where they didn't offer any dinner rolls, sliced bread, bagels etc. to enjoy with an egg dish or meal. Unfortunately the only meat dish that wasn't bacon or sausage patties was prime rib that was pretty tasteless. The dessert area was located at the bar and had small finger desserts but a variety to choose from. They are 70% there with their buffet offering but we won't go back for their buffet. The restaurant itself is beautiful and we will try it again when we can order from the menu. read more

This was my first time visiting this place...and I was not Impressed. the ambiance of the place is nice, decor and layout are nice as we but where they excel in showing off the place the service and food were absolutely terrible. Slow slow slow slow service, your better off watching paint dry if you order a drink, need a refill, or need your waitress or bartender for anything . You literally could walk across the street and order Dairy Queen bring it back and your waitress probably wouldn't know you left. Food was down right gross. For what you pay in this local "upscale" restaurant your better off going somewhere else. Let alone it took the bartender 5 tries to get our bill correct. I guess if I ever decide to go back to this place throw down a big tip to get decent service and leave my taste buds at home. read more
