Not bad, maybe I didn't get the right stuff. Ordered pancakes, eggs and sausage. Was ok, food was served right away and our waitress was cool. It's a small establishment for locals. Nothing too special. It has a lot of character for the area that it is in. It's clean and well kept and located on a corner.

Husband went and picked us up breakfast for my birthday. Lenny and Daphne would be proud to know their place is still doing a good job!

Malcolm X aka Red would dine at Silver Slipper and I heard it was the best home cooked breakfast in Boston .

South Street Diner was one of the few places open that early, so I decided to give it a try. Parking was easy at that hour, and I thought it was kind of cool seeing a classic diner tucked in among all the large office buildings downtown. I was in the mood for pancakes and ended up ordering the diner special with eggs over medium, home fries, corned beef hash, bacon, and pancakes. Unfortunately, the food was mostly average to below average. The eggs were a little underdone, the home fries were slightly overcooked in spots, and the toast was pretty standard diner fare. The homemade salsa was actually a nice touch and added some flavor to the potatoes. The biggest disappointment was the corned beef hash. I was hoping for something homemade, but it reminded me of the canned version I grew up eating. The texture and flavor just weren't for me, and I ended up leaving most of it behind. The pancakes were okay but a little dense and doughy, nothing particularly memorable. On the positive side, the coffee was decent, the service was fine, and being open early is definitely a plus for travelers. Overall, I'd put this one close to 3 stars. It's convenient if you need breakfast before sunrise, but the food didn't quite live up to what I was hoping for.

This included $1 raw oysters, chicken wings, and pretzel bites. All of which were fantastic! The oysters were very fresh and came with small bottles of vinaigrette and a green jalapeño sauce that you could add to your liking. The chicken wings were in a sweet, sticky, Asian sauce that was delicious. 6 came in an order for $12. Lastly, the pretzel bites were pillowy & warm and served with a yummy cheese sauce and a spicy mustard, also for $10. With the food, I had a very good red sangria. The servers were so nice and responsive. Would definitely come back here again, and being walking distance from south station, makes an excellent stop for a bite to eat.

As…read moreother reviewers have stated, the Pakistani/middle Easter lady who seems to be the owner is not that friendly as an order taker. However, the guys who make the sandwiches are friendly, obviously hard working, and more helpful. On one visit, one of them verbally took my order to get it started and then one of the ladies eventually came over and put it in the register later. The sandwiches are at least as good as Pot Belly and are better than Jimmy John's in terms of quantity and quality. On one visit I tried their Chicken Marsala. It liked like it was a frozen meal they microwaved, but it was pretty good, especially for a train station food court sandwich shop. Since food in the airport sux in Boston, I'd definitely recommend getting a sandwich here and take with to the airport for ur trip. Will definitely put up with the service to get the food here again when in town. Tip: There is a CVS nearby in the food court/station, getting drinks and chips from there rather than the Melting Sun is a better deal.
