    $1 Oysters!!!
    Susan C.

Came in on a Sunday mid-afternoon, about 4pm. Picked it as it was on in In Kind app. Bonus they had midday specials(2-6pm)! The seating was spacious and very comfortable. Service was great, even kept my water filled, which I appreciated. Ordered the North Shore sliders, half-dozen oysters and a side teaser. Delighful and good quality. The sauces that came with the oysters were in cute squeeze bottles and made the oysters a standout.... a real deal at only $1 each! The sliders were delightful too with onion buttered top, and cheese--so easy to eat! Even salad felt elevated, looked like micro sized romaine, tasty croutons and tasty dressing. There was also outdoor seating, great for the summer.

While in town for a recent conference dinner reservations were made and we were told, it already made the Eater Boston "Top New Restaurants" list, so there was already a 99% chance they'd be good. And when I say it's new, It opened on November 4, so you still can't find it on Google maps.... I was given the address and hailed the Uber. It's in a high-rise just across the street from the South station bus station. It's a a quaint place, With a sleek design and inviting feel. Because this was a business dinner, I couldn't take photos of the food like I usually do. We started with the Tallow fries. I could've had my own bowl. Those were super delicious. Some of the meals that I remember, were the bolognese, The carrot-ginger pasta, and the rabbit leg. In the end, there was not a morsel left in anyone's plate. I even went for the dessert and tried the apple mille fuille... This was the most delightful thing I've had in a long time. I wish I lived closer because I would certainly return, but it's definitely on my list for the next time. I'm in the area. I tried to snag a few photos as we ended our night. I can guarantee you may see some empty seats now, but it was an early dinner on a Wednesday night and if they keep up food, this good those seats will not be empty long!

Twas the Dinner Before Nutcracker There is nothing so satisfying as filling one's stomach with food before watching professional dancers perform to the highest degree of skill and athleticism. To prepare for the physical toll of sitting for two hours, my date and I dined at SJ's. The menu was notably short, only making up one side of a standard 8x11 page, and though this lack of variety may deter some diners, I felt it reflected the establishment's priority of providing a core selection of dishes they know they can consistently produce at a high level of quality. We started our meal with the Skyeline cocktails and a sweet onion tarte tatin appetizer, quickly followed by a salt-roasted beet and persimmon salad. For our main course, we enjoyed a butternut squash and celeriac agnolotti pasta, washed down with another round of drinks featuring a Manhattan and a Pomplemo Fizz cocktail. The onion appetizer was perfect; it checked all the boxes, didn't leave the diner wanting, and didn't try go above and beyond. A satisfying dish, a humble onion tarte. The beet salad, however, did not impress--but to be fair, she was ordered solely to satisfy nutritional needs. In all honesty, I never expect much from salads. In my eyes, they are purely macro-serving additions to a meal. The agnolotti, like our appetizer, performed exactly as promised. No frills, no surprises, just a decent, satisfying plate of pasta (upon further reflection, I would even venture so far as to say it was a somewhat exceptional dish, as I found myself sopping up the leftover sauce with our complimentary bread, and I don't tend to do this with what I consider an average plate). Additionally, regarding alcoholic beverages, SJ's does not hold back. At all. We had to ask for ice to water down our drinks. We were left stumbling into the theater. Thus, fueled with pasta and onions and beets, significantly tipsy from our drinks, we took to the ballet.

SJ's moved into the boston leather district recently and is very worth checking out! SJ's is a chef-driven Boston bistro serving elevated comfort food with French and global influences, featuring playful, inventive dishes. It's led by Chef Sarah Wade, a Chopped Gold Medal Games winner known for her bold, creative approach and past successes with Stillwater and Sloane's! Food was fantastic. The shrimp toast, raclette, and tallow fries were my favorite. The complimentary dinner rolls were absolutely delicious. You could smell the bread as you walked into the restaurant. Staff was friendly and helpful. Atmosphere is elegant and unique.

Amazing location close to South Station, beautiful decor, immaculately clean. The beet salad and pork rillettes macron were very delicious. Exceptionally beautiful presentation. Professional, personable service. The apple mille feuille was wonderful, perfect textures, the ginger caramel was lovely. Excited to return for dinner and cocktails.

We had our first experience at lunch this afternoon and we were warmly greeted and serviced by Bonita We ordered a Ham & Cheese, and Lamb Meatball sandwiches, along with a side of fries. The food was delivered quickly and the fries were piping hot ( I hate cold or lukewarm fries). We each enjoyed our sandwiches very much and recommend SJ's for delicious and elevated comfort food. We WILL be back!

The low lighting, music, and stylish décor create a fun atmosphere that's great for catching up with friends or enjoying a night out in the Seaport area. The service was wonderful on both visits. The servers were attentive, friendly, and made the experience enjoyable. The drinks were another highlight. I tend to prefer sweet, fruity cocktails, and the lychee drink was right up my alley. I'd happily order it again. As for the food, it was... average. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. During dinner, we had the paella and the steak. On my lunch visit, we tried the roasted chicken, patatas bravas, garlic shrimp, and the ham and mushroom croquettes. Everything was perfectly edible, but I'd rate each dish around a 3/5. We ate because we were hungry, but none of the dishes left me wanting to come back for them. Overall, Boqueria is a great place if you're looking for a nice atmosphere, good drinks, and excellent service. If you're going primarily for the food, though, I think there are better options. I'm not sure I'd return to eat, but I'd definitely consider stopping in for drinks.

You know when you're eating a kale salad and the pieces are too big and you're kind of cramming them into your mouth and then the salad dressing is all over your face? This is NOT that salad! The kale is perfectly chopped so you can enjoy it with just your fork as you talk to your friend/spouse/date or just read your book. The dressing is such perfection, and the perfect amount, no gloopiness here! Crunchy breadcrumbs add magical texture and then there's a shower of finely grated gouda cheese on top. Have you ever read a good book and as you're reading it, you're so into it that you don't want it to end? So you slow down your reading speed to make it last a little longer? That's how I feel about this salad. There are other delicious items on the menu, I saw someone eating the burger that looked so good, I also want to try the Brussels but the call of the salad siren is too strong. Everyone is super welcoming and friendly, especially Catherine, and the kitchen team even shared the dressing recipe with me. Excellent wine list, casual and cozy space with twinkle lights, a lot of bar/counter seating, great date spot. Unfortunately, this most recent visit didn't live up to the high standards I've come to expect. While a few dishes hit the mark, the majority of our order was a letdown: Tinned Octopus: Surprisingly chewy and lacked seasoning. Mushroom Toast: The texture was rubbery, and the flavor was completely drowned out by an aggressive amount of balsamic. Beets: Had a very overwhelming cumin flavor that threw the dish out of balance. Roast Beef Slider: Served cold and felt a bit uninspired. It's such a cute, intimate space, and I've had so many wonderful nights here in the past, but the execution was just off this time around. I'm hoping it was just an off night, but it was definitely disappointing given how much I usually love this place!

The wine selection is excellent and thoughtfully curated -- whites, reds, bubbles, orange wines, and more, so there's truly something for every palate. Our server was super friendly and attentive, and she even offered a few samples so we could try before committing to a full glass, which we really appreciated. For food, we shared the hot dog with fried oysters to pair with the wine, and it was surprisingly delicious and a fun, elevated bar bite. Overall, the experience was fantastic -- great wine, great service, and a comfortable atmosphere. Pricing is definitely on the higher end, with wine glasses around $20 and the hot dog at $14, but the quality and experience justify it. I'd absolutely come back for another wine night.
