While in town for a recent conference dinner reservations were made and we were told, it already made the Eater Boston "Top New Restaurants" list, so there was already a 99% chance they'd be good. And when I say it's new, It opened on November 4, so you still can't find it on Google maps.... I was given the address and hailed the Uber. It's in a high-rise just across the street from the South station bus station. It's a a quaint place, With a sleek design and inviting feel. Because this was a business dinner, I couldn't take photos of the food like I usually do. We started with the Tallow fries. I could've had my own bowl. Those were super delicious. Some of the meals that I remember, were the bolognese, The carrot-ginger pasta, and the rabbit leg. In the end, there was not a morsel left in anyone's plate. I even went for the dessert and tried the apple mille fuille... This was the most delightful thing I've had in a long time. I wish I lived closer because I would certainly return, but it's definitely on my list for the next time. I'm in the area. I tried to snag a few photos as we ended our night. I can guarantee you may see some empty seats now, but it was an early dinner on a Wednesday night and if they keep up food, this good those seats will not be empty long!

SJ's moved into the boston leather district recently and is very worth checking out! SJ's is a chef-driven Boston bistro serving elevated comfort food with French and global influences, featuring playful, inventive dishes. It's led by Chef Sarah Wade, a Chopped Gold Medal Games winner known for her bold, creative approach and past successes with Stillwater and Sloane's! Food was fantastic. The shrimp toast, raclette, and tallow fries were my favorite. The complimentary dinner rolls were absolutely delicious. You could smell the bread as you walked into the restaurant. Staff was friendly and helpful. Atmosphere is elegant and unique.

Amazing location close to South Station, beautiful decor, immaculately clean. The beet salad and pork rillettes macron were very delicious. Exceptionally beautiful presentation. Professional, personable service. The apple mille feuille was wonderful, perfect textures, the ginger caramel was lovely. Excited to return for dinner and cocktails.

We had our first experience at lunch this afternoon and we were warmly greeted and serviced by Bonita We ordered a Ham & Cheese, and Lamb Meatball sandwiches, along with a side of fries. The food was delivered quickly and the fries were piping hot ( I hate cold or lukewarm fries). We each enjoyed our sandwiches very much and recommend SJ's for delicious and elevated comfort food. We WILL be back!

Both the drink and food menus have a staggering variety of items. Beautiful Space, Catastrophic Execution…read more I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in years. We visited Boqueria Boston on Father's Day and arrived to find the restaurant nearly empty. Despite that, the experience started poorly when the host refused to accommodate a simple request to sit near a TV so we could watch the FIFA match. After being seated, it took roughly 20 minutes just to be acknowledged. We ordered two bottled beers, a bottle of still water, and tap water. The tap water arrived within minutes, but the beers and bottled water took another 10+ minutes. The beers were served without glasses, and the bottled water was simply dropped on the table without being served. When ordering, we were informed that at least five menu items were unavailable, including the seafood paella we had specifically come to try. The explanation was that they were out of clams and mussels. After insisting they check with the kitchen, we were told they could prepare it without the clams, so we agreed. The pacing of the meal was baffling. Pimientos de Padrón arrived after about 15 minutes, but then another 20-25 minutes passed before the cheese board and salad appeared. The quality was disappointing throughout. The goat cheese tasted like a bulk food-service product, and the pan con tomate was overwhelmed by raw garlic. The gambas took roughly 45 minutes to arrive and came with only three tiny pieces of bread. We immediately ordered additional grilled bread and waited another 20 minutes for that. Throughout the meal, every inquiry about the delays was met with excuses, despite the restaurant being mostly empty and fully staffed. After waiting more than an hour for the paella, I finally requested the check. Miraculously, the paella appeared moments later. Unfortunately, it wasn't worth the wait. It was bland, lacked any depth of flavor, and was among the most forgettable paellas I've ever had. To make matters worse, no fresh plates or utensils were provided for the main course. Service remained consistently poor. Water glasses were never refilled. Different servers randomly dropped off dishes, yet nobody seemed interested in clearing empty plates. We eventually started stacking dirty dishes on a neighboring table ourselves before someone finally removed them. Our primary server informed us she was going on break and essentially disappeared for the remainder of the meal, only reappearing when it was time to present the check. The only employee who showed any accountability was an older gentleman who eventually stepped in, acknowledged the problems, and provided a 50% discount after realizing part of our order had never been rung in. While appreciated, the gesture came far too late to salvage the experience. Beyond the service issues, the operational details were concerning. The open kitchen made it easy to observe staff working without hairnets or hats, and employees were constantly entering and exiting the same restrooms used by guests, often carrying backpacks and personal belongings through the dining room. What makes this especially disappointing is that I've had much better experiences at Boqueria locations in New York. However, this visit reinforced what feels like a steady decline in the brand. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The concept is strong. The location is excellent. Unfortunately, the management and training appear to be severely lacking. With so many outstanding dining options in Boston's Seaport, I cannot recommend this location. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

You must order the kale salad. I am not a kale salad person, yet I have dined here three times in…read morethe last week to eat the kale salad and am already planning my next visit. You know when you're eating a kale salad and the pieces are too big and you're kind of cramming them into your mouth and then the salad dressing is all over your face? This is NOT that salad! The kale is perfectly chopped so you can enjoy it with just your fork as you talk to your friend/spouse/date or just read your book. The dressing is such perfection, and the perfect amount, no gloopiness here! Crunchy breadcrumbs add magical texture and then there's a shower of finely grated gouda cheese on top. Have you ever read a good book and as you're reading it, you're so into it that you don't want it to end? So you slow down your reading speed to make it last a little longer? That's how I feel about this salad. There are other delicious items on the menu, I saw someone eating the burger that looked so good, I also want to try the Brussels but the call of the salad siren is too strong. Everyone is super welcoming and friendly, especially Catherine, and the kitchen team even shared the dressing recipe with me. Excellent wine list, casual and cozy space with twinkle lights, a lot of bar/counter seating, great date spot. Also attached/sister company to American Provisions I believe (great spot in Southie for sandwiches, cheeses, wines, pastries, rare food items).

We walked into a warm, energetic space with dim lighting, an open dining room, and a constant buzz that makes it a great choice for a night out with friends or a date. The restaurant has a vibrant, social energy that encourages sharing and exploration, and the open layout adds to the sense of activity without feeling chaotic. Rather than ordering individual entrées, the experience is centered around sharing a variety of dishes, making each visit feel a little different depending on what you choose. The tapas are the highlight of the menu, with plenty of options that encourage trying a little bit of everything. The bacon-wrapped dates are one of the signature dishes, balancing sweet and savory flavors, while the patatas bravas, croquettes, and charcuterie boards are reliable choices to start the meal. If you are looking for something more substantial, the seafood paella and squid ink pasta stand out as excellent main dishes, offering rich flavors and generous portions that are easy to split between two or more people. The olive oil cake is also worth saving room for if you want to end the meal with dessert, and the overall progression of the meal works well with the tapas format. The drink menu is just as impressive as the food. Wine is the main focus, with an extensive list featuring Spanish and international selections, but the sangria and cocktails are equally popular. It is the kind of place where you can easily spend a couple of hours sharing plates while working your way through a few different drinks, and the beverage program is thoughtfully curated to match the style of the food. Service is one of the restaurant's strongest points. The staff are knowledgeable about both the menu and wine list, and dishes arrive steadily throughout the meal instead of all at once, creating a relaxed dining pace. The pacing allowed us to enjoy each dish without feeling rushed, and the team checked in at the right moments without hovering. The restaurant is consistently busy, especially on weekends, so reservations are highly recommended. Even with a reservation, there can occasionally be a short wait, and the lively atmosphere means the dining room can get quite loud during peak hours. The energy of the room is part of what makes the experience work, but it is worth keeping in mind if you are looking for a quieter dinner. Barcelona Wine Bar is one of the best places in Boston for Spanish-inspired tapas and wine. The combination of flavorful shareable dishes, a well-curated drink menu, attentive service, and vibrant atmosphere makes it an easy choice for group dinners, celebrations, or date nights. It offers a meal that feels both communal and polished, with a setting that encourages slowing down and enjoying the evening. Just be prepared for the energetic environment and plan ahead if you are visiting during the busiest times.

Even though we just had drinks and an app here, I still would like to try and come back for their full menu. On a busy Saturday afternoon in Boston, walking around the Tall Ships, we stopped in at the Envoy hotel to use the restrooms. I remember this restaurant being here, but it's been quite some time. Since we could use a drink and some food, we saw 2 spots open up at the bar so we grabbed them. The place was packed! The outside was slammed. Plus, they had live music which was pretty cool. So, we decided to stay for a cocktail and an app. We ordered the guacomole which was good and I had their Clover Club cocktail, one that I have been meaning to try due to a competition bartending show on Netflix. The cocktail was excellent I had to order another. We didn't plan on staying long, but after meeting some new people and enjoying great conversations, we stayed for awhile. The bartenders looked pretty busy and very overwhelmed but they did the best they could. It was a great time! I know we will be back again for dinner or another time to try their full menu. Definitely a place to check out for sure! Cheers~

Overall, the experience was fantastic -- great wine, great service, and a comfortable atmosphere. Unfortunately, this most recent visit didn't live up to the high standards I've come to expect. While a few dishes hit the mark, the majority of our order was a letdown: Tinned Octopus: Surprisingly chewy and lacked seasoning. Mushroom Toast: The texture was rubbery, and the flavor was completely drowned out by an aggressive amount of balsamic. Beets: Had a very overwhelming cumin flavor that threw the dish out of balance. Roast Beef Slider: Served cold and felt a bit uninspired. It's such a cute, intimate space, and I've had so many wonderful nights here in the past, but the execution was just off this time around. I'm hoping it was just an off night, but it was definitely disappointing given how much I usually love this place!
