Hanley is the best! Does great work and offers the fairest prices. I've had all my work done through Hanley, anytime I've tried going somewhere else in a pinch or for convenience (Meineke, Sullivan tires, etc) they always make it seem like my car is falling apart everything's wrong and it's going to cost an arm and a leg to fix. Then I go see my buddy Hanley at Silver Star Motors in Swampscott and he takes my car in and will either put it on a lift or pull out a flash light and show me exactly what's wrong, give me an estimate, and take care of it for a fraction of what these other places are charging. I have a 2006 Audi A6 that I bought with 80,000 miles and have run it up to 250,000 miles with Hanley doing all the maintenance. I was surprised to see one-star ratings, but then I noticed that for some reason all positive reviews were hidden as unverified. I bought a BWM 335xi from Alex, and the buying process was nice and easy. Like someone else mentioned, the negotiation part was pretty much useless (I ended up paying the full price anyway) but I still got a good deal. Moreover, they made my new beemer just the way I wanted. Windows were tinted and links and bushing were replaced (to get rid of the noise) at no charge. I picked up the car three days after (because they said I can't drive freshly tinted car) fully registered and already with inspection sticker... again, at no charge to me! It's been more than six month and so far I love my BMW! Bottom line, ignore those old reviews and give them a chance, I'm sure you are going to like them just like me. read more

I never write reviews. However, I decided to fulfill my civic duty after searching for pictures of my 2004 M3, which I purchased from Silver Star Motors. I didn't find the pictures, but eventually meandered my way to the yelp page I'm now on. After seeing the two unfavorable reviews, I decided to give my 2 cents. I'm exceptionally happy with the car I purchased from Silver Star Motors. I've experienced no problems. Mind you, I did purchase an M3 and might be suffering from car bias. This dealership in comparison to others is fairly small, so do not expect all the bells and whistles in customer service. Additionally, the owners seem Eastern European -- very direct, hard to negotiate with, and all about business. I think the guy's name was Alex -- he picked me up from the airport (Boston), drove me over to the dealership, and had me test drive another car while my M3 was being polished at another location. Avoid this dealership. In early September I purchased a vehicle from Silver Star Motors. The purchase and sales agreement clearly stated in the dealership owners hand writing a number of issues that were to be resolved upon the picking up of the car; 1. Properly functioning radio; 2. Replace all non-functioning lights. During the test drive, the radio was nonfunctional, upon delivery the Dealer informed me that the radio was the original radio and that he had to call a Mercedes dealership to give the VIN code and retrieve the factory code. After delivery, it was observed that the steering wheel controls did not work, the illumination on the radio display did not work, the radio would not go off with the ignition, you had to press the on/off button to turn it off; further more when the vehicle was parked the radio would turn itself on randomly draining the battery, leaving myself and my family stranded a couple times. I had the radio removed and unplugged upon which I noticed that the radio is not the original radio, it is a salvage unit and that the Dealer lied when he told me that he sourced the code from the Mercedes Dealership. I informed the dealer of my dissatisfaction on the radio, dealer stated he would replace the radio, after a week of not hearing from the Dealer, I contacted him again, same story, he is trying to source a new radio to install in the vehicle, told me he would call me in three days, after 4 days, I tried repeatedly to contact the dealer, he is not answering the phone. I have been trying to contact the dealer for four weeks now. I went to the dealership and no employees were present. Furthermore, after taking delivery of the vehicle, the non-functional fog lamp was found to not be replaced. Additionally upon taking delivery of the car, I noted that the engine oil dipstick was broken, the Dealer and I made a hand shake agreement that he would source a new dipstick for me, he has not. The Dealer does not stand by his word, he does not follow through with promises, and owner's business practice is unscrupulous. I had initially anticipated doing further business with this dealership, but have decided to purchase another vehicle elsewhere. read more

In my opinion, these people will do and say anything to sell a car. Very friendly (before you buy)... But trust me, there was no "mis-communication" regarding the terms we agreed on (they were very clear). They lied and did not perform some followup work on a used car my wife and I purchased. When we tried to resolve the problem on multiple occasions, they blew us off. Do society a favor and do not support these types of businesses. Help restore honor and integrity. read more

Stay far far far far away from this dealership!!!! Yes, he has great cars, BUT every car has a bigger issue than said...he wants cash upfront then wait about 2 -3 months to pick up your car!! When I called Stan the Scam he had every excuse for me to go pick up my 2009 BENZ! One story after another now i have my car and it has all these issues bad alternator, breaks etc...god knows what he really did for the 2 months that I didnt have my car! He probably replaced them with old breaks alternator but when saw and drove the car it was in good conditon! BOTTOM LINE He is a SCAM OF A GUY and not TRUSTWORTHY AT ALL!!! He's up to NO GOOD! If i could have clicked 0 stars i would have. The people there are rude, barely speak english, and have no idea what they are talking about. Im was looking at a 335xi from them priced at 17900 (about 3k$ less than most places). This was because it was in an accident, the transmission was leaking, it needed new turbos, new control arm buschings, new brakes, new oil filter housing gasket, and a new head gasket (about 6k in repairs). I know this because i brought a certified master tech. AFter telling the owner it needed these repairs he got rude and started yelling at both me, and the bmw tech saying we didnt know what we were talking about. I had an appointment to view a BMW X5 with Silver Star Motors. Upon arriving at the site, my first impression was a real eye opener pertaining to the events that followed. An irate customer was yelling at one of the owners claiming his "lemon" Acura completely fell apart after purchase with only 9 thousand miles when purchased. I cannot validate this persons' claim, but after dealing with them for 2 days, I feel this consumer was probably in the right. I was shown the vehicle that I came there for, but it was completely empty of fuel and we could only drive it 2 blocks before returning in fear of being stranded on the side of the road. After returning and running some numbers, I left with the promise that the owner was going to call me back once he made a call or two. I never heard back from him that night and the next morning, I called the owner who claimed he was in the shop and had to go outside where he could hear better. He was going to call me back in 2 minutes. I never heard back from him, even after repeated calls to him. A friend of mine who is in the car business decided to call for me and try to contact the owner and work a deal as I was very interested in the car. The owner was at the auction and was going to call him back in 35 minutes when the auction was over. The next call to the owner, my friend managed to solidify a deal with my trade inand a price on the BMW. After that point, all calls to the dealer were picked up and instantly hung up. Any more calls to the cell phone were in vain as the "mailbox was full." After some research, I found 8 reviews on this dealer that were all similar to mine. Looking back, my first impression, listening to the irate customer, was right on the money. STEER CLEAR OF THESE SCHEMING CHARLITAINS. Had a problem with the front end. Shocks or something needed to be replaced. Car was leaning to front right. He said both shocks would be replaced. Only replaced one. Having problem again.
