And we called in the order a half hour ahead of time, got to their location and still had to wait an hour. And the rude staff didn't seem to be concerned at all. If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. We came in expecting amazing Ramen. However, the server (young woman) didn't get the order correct. My friend got what she ordered but with my mushrooms. We explained to the server and she was about to take her mushrooms out of her bowl and place it in mine. Then our ramen was cold. I won't be coming back, I gave this place a second try and this experience was even worse. I'll start with some positives: service was quicker this time and the place was redecorated which was nice but that's pretty much where it ends. I'm pretty big on customer service and experience bc what else is the point of dinning in? Our server wasn't very welcoming from the beginning but I was ok with that however what I didn't like was when they were preparing to close up, they acted like guests weren't still in there. We got there a little before 8... ordered our food at 8:09 and they close at 9 so we had time to enjoy our food so I thought. Closer to 9 they started to clean up around us, putting all the chairs up around us, sweeping (which I hate bc I'm eating, don't start sweeping by me) then rushed us with the checks. Silverlake Ramen is the first ramen spot I've seen in the concord area and I was more than excited to try it. As I entered I was greeted immediately and advised to sit where where I like. After taking a look at the menu I decide to try the "Three Kinds is Mushroom with Butter" that comes over kale and a lemon wedge. It was a bit salty but it was amazing after adding a squeeze of lemon and pepper paste. As my entree I ordered the Blaze Ramen which was absolutely awesome. The noodle to broth ratio was great and the egg was exactly how I liked it. I added an extra egg and a side of garlic. Lastly the service was superb. My server was very attentive and polite. Our waiter was very rude and did not care about us at all. We got the spicy chicken ramen and it came out COLD. we thought we wouldn't bother the waiter with it since he already seemed so done. Ramen really wasn't good, but then we noticed a hair. We finally built the courage to call him over and show him, and he just rolled his eyes and took the bowl without offering an apology or asking us if we would like a fresh bowl. We had to follow him to tell him not to worry about making a fresh one. We then tried the chicken kaarage bowl. Wasn't to bad when I took my first bite, but then noticed the chicken was raw. My friend also took a bite to confirm, and we sat there a while debating if we wanted to piss the waiter off again. We probably waited 20 minutes for him to come over, but watched him avoid coming to our table. Instead, he just walked by and plopped the check down and ignored when I tried to talk to him. I didn't think it was right to pay for food that was inedible. however, we decided to pay for the drink and leave a tip anyways since homeboy was having such a bad day even though we were the ones w hair in our food and raw chicken. On our way out, we calmly told him the chicken was raw and he again huffed and puffed and rolled his eyes to turn around and clear off our table. No apology in sight. So yes. Came here again just to give them another chance at redemption lol. It was the worst decision. They actually got worse rather than better. Allow me to explain I ordered the following 1. SHOYU RAMEN - first of all the soup was lukewarm. Soup should be steaming. No flavor. Pork bone soup should be heavy with garlic flavor to the point that it makes your clothes smell of garlic. The noodles was very over cook. To the point where it was mushy. As a chef I can say that it was probably cooked in water that was not hot enough. The water should be a rolling boil. Probably did not stir the noodles as it cooks to separate the noodles and take away the starch. They did not remove the water enough when they put in bowl and they did not fluf the noodles when they put in bowl so the noodles just clumped together into 1 big ball 2. Fried chicken bowl No flavor with the chicken what do ever. Not marinated. Rice was actually cooked very good. And that was the only thing good about it. Went to Silverlake after a convention and sat down with two friends. We ordered quickly then waited, and continued waiting for more than an hour for food while also being ignored completely by the staff even when we actively tried to get their attention. We watched as at least 2 tables that came in AFTER we did got their orders first and I finally stood to go talk to the "cooks", if you can call them that, and it took a further 10+ minutes after asking to see a manager that never bothered to come speak to us to get our food and when I was almost done eating I found a hair in my food. All in all, mine and my friends experiences were horrible and the store was disgusting. Will never dine there again. we were a party of four and went around 12 pm. there wasn't a lot of people dining indoors so it was prefect. the inside was nice and clean. they have an open kitchen so you can see your food being made. the waiter was very friendly always checking in on us. i got the large chicken karaage bowl and really liked it. the fried chicken was moist and the sauce they add on was very delicious. got some mix reviews about the ramen from my friends but overall a nice meal. read more

This is great ramen and really hits the spot. I ordered the spicy tonkotsu which is the basic pork broth ramen with a delicious slice of pork. The whole bowl was really devine and made me think of my travel to Japan slurping lots of noodles. Another great touch is that they have draft Asahi beer which is another Japanese stable which really was a great to wash down the ramen. So we haven't really had a dedicated ramen shop in Concord like ever, so naturally there's been lots of hype around this new place. So you walk in and it is kind of ambiguous as to whether you seat yourself or you wait to be seated. There's a host stand but no one is manning it so that felt a little awkward. It would be easy to fix with a "wait to be seated" or a "seat yourself" sign. My husband and I floated there awkwardly for like 30 seconds before a waiter told us to have a seat where ever, but he asked us how many, so as far as waiting to be seated or seating yourself I still have no idea. Anyway it didn't take long after that for them to give us menus and we put our drink orders in. They have coke, but it's in cans for 2 bucks. I think if you get tea you get free refills but I'm not sure it's sort of ambiguous there too. Luckily ramen isn't really a thrist inducing food... right? Well it might be if you decide to go ham and get the level 3 spicy tonkatsu. I wasn't that daring and got the level 1. I felt like it was missing something until I realized it was supposed to come with and egg but they forgot them for our whole table's orders. It took a little bit longer than I would have liked to get someone to fix it, but when we finally did it didn't take them that long to get them, instead of transporting 3 halves to us they gave us all a whole soy marinated egg which was pretty awesome. That egg really helped elevate the dish. The ramen with the spinach and egg and bean sprouts was super good. I just wish the pork was charred a little or smoked a little more. The pork just needed a little bit more flavor and it would have been perfect after the egg mishap was resolved. The price point here is still a bit high for what you're getting and the level of service and quality/amount of food that you're getting. read more

It's always interesting to me when such a new restaurant has such mixed reviews right out of the gate. Were the same waitstaff working when someone had a 2 star experience as when someone else had a 5 star experience? Same people in the kitchen? I can only truly speak to my own dining experience and I'm happy to say it was a pleasant one. Silverlake is a brand new ramen shop in the Concord Mills area. With the exception of one noodle shop inside the mall food court, this is really the only restaurant of its kind in this area. Normally to get ramen you would have to travel all the way into uptown, or take I-77 up to the Huntersville/Mooresville area, so the prospect of delicious noodles for a sub 10 minute drive instantly peaked my interest. A close friend of mine and my brother both had tried this place before I made my way here. One simply told me it was "OK" while the other quite enjoyed it. I figured it was worth a shot and took said brother along with me for lunch. I don't remember the exact time of day but there was no shortage of seats when we arrived and were seated right away. Ordered drinks and debated which bowl to try while the server retrieved them. We got an order of the Fried Gyoza to split as an appetizer and I ordered The Blaze for my ramen dish. The Gyoza were a little surprising in that they appeared to be deep fried. In my experience Fried Gyoza are typically pan fried and then steamed, or vice versa, but different doesn't mean bad and these were excellent. Lots of garlic and ginger flavor in the pork, both extremely crispy and piping hot, an absolute win in my book. The Blaze was also wonderful and lived up to it's name quite well. A spicy tonkotsu pork broth with noodles (obviously), chicken (my choice of protein), green onion, a perfect soft boiled half egg, nori, bean sprouts and a little bit of spinach. I almost regret asking for spice level 2 of 3, because it was quite warm, but the flavor was so good. The noodles were tender and they give you plenty of them, the chicken was dark meat not white so it was moist not dry, the egg was nice and soft it almost melted into the broth. This was a really delicious bowls of noodles. Our waiter was very polite and always kept our drinks full, and though he did seem a little of out of it I think he was just the new guy. The one other thing I wanted to mention was the price. It was by no means a deal breaker, but it did make me consider 4 stars instead of 5 stars. The Blaze was $14, and while I think the flavor justifies that to a degree, add drink and tip and your sitting around $20+ for a single person. It's not outrageous, but certainly on the upper end of lunch for one in Concord. Just something to consider when planning your visit. read more

Tried again. The gyoza, great first visit, were thick and doughy this visit and weren't even grilled or fried. Opted for the spicy tonkantsu ramen as my main with the noodles on the side. How can a tonkatsu broth be disappointing? It can be because it was horribly bland and in desperate need of salt. There were red pepper flakes so I'm guessing that helps. Zero flavor but let me address the noodles. The ramen noodles were greasy. I guess it is because they didn't want them to stick. Unfortunately they stuck to each other in the bowl. Prying them apart, I dropped them into my *tonkatsu* bowl and it was a congealed mess with too many green onions. I shall reiterate that there was a blandness that is unforgivable. There was an apparent lack of customer service because of social distancing. Season your food and have a customer service base. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for quite a while and a finally did tonight. We got ramen and the grilled dumplings. The dumplings were wonderful! If you like them, do yourself a big favor and go to Silverlake and order some. They just really tasted fresh. Our ramen was very good, too. Just had dinner at this place and here's the break down. Service: Server wasn't too knowledgeable about food. I ordered our food and was asking a question about additional toppings for the ramen, when the server just snatched the menu out of my hands. Food came and was missing sauce for entree. Food: The apps were not fresh when you consider that you're paying a premium for it. The Gyoza were obvious that it was from frozen. The pork bun was bland and forgettable. But the crispy chicken, was just a mess! It was overly cooked and clearly from another entree that more than likely was sent back to the kitchen. There were rice stuck to the chicken which means it was on top of a rice dish before coming to our table as an app. Fail! Overall, the ramen was good. Good texture, bold hardy flavor, ramen was blanched to perfection. Spiciness is "american" spicy not Asian spicy. So the 1-3 scale is nowhere close to the standard I'm use to. I ordered 3 spicy and it was more like an 3/10 spicy. It's no NYC or SanFran ramen spot but it's by far better than the reman at Hawkers, and Open Rice Charlotte. It's a shame how low some people rate this restaurant based on what argent write but since i never eat in the restaurant and always get take out, i can only base this off my experiences. It was my 4th time, yesterday and they never disappoint. Food is always ready at the time they say it will be. I live 30 min away, and the food is still hot when i get home. Everything is flavorful and on point. My son also started loving the classic ramen. I eat the blaze and my husband eat shoyu on fire. I decided to give it another try despite the first awful visit because I know that they're new. This time I was seated and the server took my order within 5 minutes. The server had no customer service skills whatsoever. She never once asked me if I wanted a refill even though my cup was empty. The food tasted good nothing special about it and was not as hot as one expects a hot soup to be. Here's the real kick, they're supposed to be a ramen restaurant but they do not serve ramen noodles. Came here yesterday with the hubs. Nice, clean spot, tiny but efficient in service. I especially liked the way we were greeted when we walked in. Apparently this establishment is part of a chain that's based in Los Angeles, and you definitely get that famous laid-back vibe here, especially in the attitudes of the staff members. The menu doesn't have too many dishes, but what they do have is delicious. And filling. I had the Crispy Chicken Karaage which is BIG on flavor, so it's already my favorite. I enjoyed every bite from the first to the last... and THAT was just the appetizer! So hang ten, dudes and dudettes, and go here to enjoy some yummy comfort foods. We ordered the pork dumplings (gyoza?), pork belly bun, I had the Shoyu on Fire and my husband had the Chicken Karaage Bowl. Our food came out very quickly. The gyoza was delicious, and much much better than any other places around that serve dumplings. They were tender and luscious and very flavorful. Same with the pork bun. I wish I had ordered more because they were so good and my son ate most of them. The Shoyu on Fire was really good but the chicken in it was lacking taste and flavor. The rest of it was very enjoyable. My husband's chicken Karaage was delicious and full of flavor. The service was amazing. While we were there, three people came to check on us. Our drink glasses were kept full and our server was very attentive, friendly and sweet. We got lucky with parking but I can imagine this lot getting very busy with Viva Chicken next door. Regardless, you should check this place out. The prices are reasonable too. With two entree and two appetizers, our check was $34 before tips. I definitely see our family being a regular here. *Updating my review after our not-so-good second experience. We got food to-go and it was very disappointing. The mabo tofu was all rice, a little bit of sauce (barely two spoonfuls) and tofu that wasn't even coated with the sauce at all.
