This was my first time at this location. I was conflicted on whether to do two or three stars. The wait was fine as only one person was ordering when I arrived. The staff was very pleasant. The food... was just ok the black beans were awesome. Very delicious. The yellow rice had mixed veggies in it. Not the best, but ok. Not that flavorful. I didn't eat hardly any. My boyfriend had shrimp which he enjoyed. We both had the Carne Asada. This is where my issue was pretty intense. I opened the box when I got home to see the most uncolored non grilled steak. The picture looks better than in real life ( I ate a piece before I took it). Imagine that. Way too much salt. Tasted almost boiled or not cooked at a high enough temperature. Reminds me of the chopped steak on the kids menu at Ruby Tuesdays. I can only assume the regular cook was out sick. So not good. Waste of money. Beyond disappointed. Also, they charge for sauce. I went to the Largo location all the time after work but I was a happy camper when I saw that they opened a location on Fairwood Pkwy. Silvestre's is my go to place for good food for little cost and a short distance. I brought some food home to share with the family and now almost every time my dad invites people over to the house and my mom doesn't feel like cooking, she sends me over to Silvestre's, I don't recall the exact cost but we always get two whole chickens at a pretty modest price. If you don't want just chicken and sides, their platters will leave you satisfied. Fajita platters are loaded with meat, rice and veggies along with two tortillas. The subs are STUFFED with toppings, really getting a bang for your buck, could get a little soggy if you leave and come back to it but when its fresh, its amazing. Food is usually ready within 15 minutes but it is always hot and fresh. I hope this location thrives and stays. read more

I happened to notice this place was open and stopped it. I plan to go back as my meal was really good. It was a simple order (1/4 chicken, plantains and mixed vegetables). It came out quick and the portions were large. The flavor was better then Sardi's and the sauces were better as well. I still prefer Lima Chicken, but this is close, convenient and easy. I am only giving it 4 stars right now as I need to try something else to see if it deserves a 5 star rating. Still it was a very good first visit. read more

Very good food and service. I actually had never heard of Silvestre until I saw someone on Facebook mention it in their feed, inspiring me to give it a try. I placed an order of shrimp tacos and rotisserie chicken tacos for my husband. My taco was very good and he said his were pretty good as well. They put the tomato onion salsa on the side as I requested. I also ordered small sides of black beans and coleslaw which were tasty. One minor thing is that my husband's taco contained a non edible gristle of some sort but other than that everything was great. Will return to try other menu items in the future. read more

Went to the Bowie location and spent $48 for a very disgusting family dinner on Good Friday. My ticket was number 35. I ordered the red snapper with 3 shrimp salad and rice. The fish was salty and served without pepper and onion as advertised. Other family members ordered the quesadilla The food ended up in the trash! read more

Silvestre Chicken opened a new location in Bowie, MD yesterday. The food and service is exceptional I ordered my favorite meal "Mixed Fajitas" with rice and salad. What an amazing set of flavors and big portions. The location is clean and well lit. I will defently be visiting again. read more

This place apparently changes by location. the original location is a dive near the Census Bureau, it think Temple Hills, MD, but the food amazing with generous portions. I was not impressed with the 12th Street NE location. I am afraid to eat there from the looks. Same thing with the Riggs Rd. location. I am sure they will step up for Bowie it is a shame that you would not even recognize the same locations in other areas. read more

I decided to try this place with my wife since it is new and relatively close by. The steak and shrimp fajita was good, i didn't have high expectations but was pleasantly surprised. My wife had the salmon dish and was very disappointed, apparently it was very salty. One thing that was disappointing was the nickel and dime approach, with the sauce. They charge you for any and every sauce that they offer, which is fine if they offer a few for free, but they don't. Also, the staff could try and smile or just be a little friendlier. Overall, it was a decent experience, and a good change from the limited options in the area. read more

I ordered the chicken, rice, and plaintains....and was suckered into buying a piece of cake that I thought was free. Ok, maybe a language barrier. Anyway, the food was disgusting. One of the regular places for our work team to have lunch. It is The Best! This is a single store, authentic kitchen that has fresh cooked food, Peruvian style. The half chicken platter is great to eat there or carry out for dinner at home. It's marinated and then grilled, tastes amazing, not hot spices, but complex, South American spices and flavors. I take papusas back to work for treats for folks who can't get out for a break. They are amazing "hand pies" with a variety of stuffings. Like empanadas. They offer wonderful dipping sauce for the platters, I ask for an extra cup of it, cilantro is the best, but there's a pink sauce that's spicier, also very wonderful. There are nice sides, Plantains and black beans and rice are what I pick. The drinks are not fountain drinks, they have different cans and bottles, juice and sodas. I can't imagine giving this place one star, it's not a chain, the employees are second language speakers, but to me, that's all American. I love the variety and the truth of this very down to earth, real food. I was recommended here by a client of mine I've been fighting not to come here daily! I've honestly only had he chicken breast burrito ( first time as is and the second with no rice) and both were sooo good!
