The ONLY place i get my thai food from! Definitely the best Thai in Simi. And they deliver! I usually get the Tom yum chicken soup! It's so good. If you get it spicy at all, be careful, they don't joke about their spice. Even mild comes out pretty spicy sometimes. But you don't have to get any spice in it if you don't want. My other favorites include chicken satay, pad Thai, shrimp fried rice, green curry, and mango and sticky rice. I usually order out. But I have eaten in once or twice. The restaurant itself is pretty small, and tends to get busy! Make sure to pick up a menu, they always have coupons in them! read more

I write reviews for a reason to let public know how good or bad restaurants are. I give this place 1 star for its horrible service. We called in our order, they told us it will be ready in 45 mins. Got to restaurant in 40 mins.. it's been another 40 more mins extra and food still not available. Waitress reasoning out the cooker not working but lady in front of me order at the restaurant and got her order before we got ours. Another gentlemen ordered over the phone still don't have his. I don't care how good the food is if it takes that long I will definitely not coming back unless you guys like to wait. My time is more important than waiting for 1 1/2 to eat. read more

My favorite local Thai place (Thai house) was closed for construction but i was really in the mood for curry. A co worker suggested this place (which is weird cause it's right near Thai House) I walked in and was greeted by the owner (I assume as she did call me Honey repeatedly) I ordered the Panang Curry with Chicken and a side of white rice (due to my lack of attention I think I ordered extra. Honestly I have no idea if it came with the meal or not) The curry was a little on the spicy side for my tastes and while I got a ton of chicken with it, there should have been more than the occasional sliced pepper. It was good but not perfect. They were very nice, the food came quickly and I would have no problem eating there again or ordering food from there for delivery. read more

This hit the spot. I ordered the parang curry with pork for take out and it was ready in 10 minutes. At first I was disappointed that the rice was extra, but once I got the food and realized it was enough for two meals, that is fine. This was a great find - ordered Curry Noodles (new dish) and thai spicy fried rice with egg - both dishes came out real nice and flavorful. Did not go stingy on the coconut milk usage. There was no hidden sweet taste in spicy dishes - and they were very careful when requested to keep one dish away from Soy Sauce (for gluten-free issues). Ok, so this place is in the Tapo Plaza across from the 24 hour fitness plaza. There are two thai places in the plaza--thai cottage and simi thai. Thai cottage is the restaurant in the front; Simi Thai is in the back of the plaza, next to penny pinchers and some mexican restaurant. Seating for ~20. Excellent food. I like the Mee Grob, Larb, pad see-ew (it's better than the pad thai IMO), green beans, panang, yellow curry... They have mango-rice during the spring months!! Food comes out pretty darn fast, too. We stumbled upon this gem by accident on our way to a different, but near by Thai restaurant. We were ALL happy we did. The kids loved it... Huge plus! B the owner? Was the nicest woman, server ever! Treated us like family! Best service one could get. Not crowded. The food was FRESH. The veggies weren't over cooked. The fried rice had no oil I could taste.. But it sure tasted great! Satays were great, kids enjoyed them too! Tom ka Kai was Amazing! Spicy... If you don't like spicy ask for mild not medium. Pad Thai was ultra fresh... Both chicken and veggie. B was amazing! I happened to stumble upon this place from a recommendation from a friend who frequents this spot. He said he always orders to go from here and they never dissappoint. Since i come to the Valley often i said why not. Ofcourse as a Yelper you always want to check out reviews and info before even considering a spot to grub. This is the culture we live in and as much as i want to remain bias to a place.. you can't help but check. So without further ado i got my check list: 4.5 stars.. Check Lots of positve reviews .. Check lol a given.. Well so it fit all my Yelp criteria that i was looking for and so I ventured in. Its a bit hidden but then again I like a mission.. I read some reviews about owner changes recently but in my mind.. i always welcome change and kept an open mind.. and an open mouth. lol. So upon entering i noticed how clean and bright it was inside there. I think they put a new new paint so it gave the restaurant a welcoming ambiance. I was immediately greeted by the lady with a smile and offered a table. There were two other tables in there and the food smelled absolutely amazing. I decided i was going to eat there rather than take out. As soon as i sat i was offered a menu and i decided to go with my buddy's recommendation and ordered the Pad Thai Chicken and shrimp. Best of both worlds. Now i have not been to Thailand but i think had my fair share of Pad Thais. The plate came out nice n hot and i could tell off the bat that this was authentic ( it was not Orange lol) I dug in and it was FAB!! i left no noodle unturned and twirled every strand into my fork.. i topped it off with a delicious Thai Ice Tea. I made small talk with the waiters and they were really friendly. In the end it was a good experience, great service with a smile, and awesome food. I used to drive to the Valley for Thai food but since I discovered Simi Thai, I stay in town. This is hands down the best Thai food in Simi Valley. We eat here at least once a week. The place is small but the service is usually decent. We've had a whole host of dishes from this restaurant but these are some of the favorites: The Chicken Tom Kha is delicious. Plenty of mushrooms and chicken and the perfect amount of coconut/lime flavor. The tri tip panaang is also excellent. Excellent coconut curry flavor with the perfect amount of spice, meat and veggies. If you love panaang, you won't be disappointed. The pad see ew is also spot on. The portion is huge with lots of chicken and noodles. And It's made with Chinese broccoli which gives it an extra bit of the bitter flavor to counteract the sweet sauce. It's also the perfect dish if you have kids who can't handle the spice. If you enjoy authentic Thai food at a reasonable price you'll enjoy Simi Thai. read more

THIS PLACE IS A TRAIN WRECK. what a disaster. they forgot one of the main dishes we ordered, other people there had to go behind the counter to get their own napkins. table next to us the waitress must have tossed their leftovers and they had to cook up a new batch of food for them to take home. they brought my husbands meal and just forgot mine..did not refill water unless asked, did not come back to see if we were ok. I had such a sore back I couldn't sit in the chair a minute longer and had to leave. the waitress kept disappearing into the kitchen , not to be seen for very long periods of time. she apologized for being slow one time. what a mess. I came home in pretty severe pain because of their screw ups. will not ever return. several other places in town with not screwed up , understaffed(?) restaurants. read more

Today's 2/28/20 waitress is the worst customer service person I have seen. She was not the regular person. She has attitude as if she is some Cinderella. Gave me cc receipt to sign and told me to take the food from the area on the other side of the restaurant and walked to the kitchen left me alone to figure out where to leave the receipt and take the food. Waited few minutes but no one showed up. Left the place. Not a typical Thai service I get. Friendly and respect from the owner and other Thai restaurant. I'm going to add my own thoughts to my wife's "review" in which she described our experience to night as a "train wreck". I prefer a more colorful term: "cluster-f**k". Went to Simi Thai tonight. Wifey had been there before and said the food was good. Yes, it was, other than the fact that I should have ordered mine "mild" instead of "medium", because this was call-the-fire-department hot, but, let me tell you the rest of it. As wifey stated in her comment posted earlier, maybe they were understaffed. Maybe it was a busy night. Whatever. I... Don't... Care. Service WAS slow. At least the guy in the kitchen, when he came out with the first entrée, did say "sorry it was slow". But that was it. Never saw him again. The waitress/hostess/whatever never came by to ask how things were, and don't they always come by when your mouth is full and ask "how is everything tasting, tonight?". Not here. Not this time. Nobody came by to refill the water. That was one thing. When she wasn't picking up the phone to handle take-out orders, she would disappear back into the kitchen for what seemed like an eternity, leaving restaurant full of other customers. Saw one go up to the the area where the hostess normally would be to get more napkins. ANOTHER customer pointed to an area below, and said, "Napkins are down there." Another customer in in the restaurant should not have to do that. When she DID come back out from the kitchen area, not only did she still never come by to see how things were or if we needed anything. Earlier, she did take back the unfinished chicken satay to put in a "to go" box, but never came back out with it. We ordered two entrées. They only brought out one. Fine, the second one is coming soon. But it didn't. My wife, who recently had back surgery, couldn't sit there any long and had to go wait in the car, where she could recline the seat. So, I'm sitting there, trying to get the lady's attention. Sitting there, arms across my chest, giving her my "icy stare of death" which she never sees because she never looked up to see what was going on. When the phone call was done, she'd disappear back into the kitchen. FINALLY, she comes to the table, where I'm sitting by myself. She asks if I need a box for the food in front of me. Yes, and we STILL haven't gotten the Pad Thai! "Oh, sorry, let me get that for you!". Even though I explained that my wife had to go sit in the car because she wasn't doing to well and couldn't sit in the chair any more, and we had to go, the lady, after a few more minutes, brought out the Pad Thai... ON A PLATTER!!!!! WTF? Didn't she hear me say that we HAD TO GO???? We should have gone to the other Thai place, in the same general area, the one that faces Tapo Canyon, but we went to this place instead. What a disaster. I suppose a good word would be "cluster-f**k". I left a VERY tiny tip. No, not a penny. I left $1.00. The tip should have been $6.00. Why? I don't believe that they are "entitled" to tips, that they should get them automatically. No. Tips must be EARNED. Wait staff and servers EARN their tips by providing a level of service that the customers expect. They get larger tips when service is above and beyond what the customer expects, and lesser tips when service falls below. Tonight, I followed what my father has done in the past, and so I did this tonight. To leave NO tip only tells the restaurant that maybe the customer forgot. So you leave a very small tip which sends the message, hopefully, that something was wrong with the service. Of course, they may just thing you're being a cheapskate, leaving only a $1.00 tip. To me, it means I DID think about it and because service was lousy, this is why the tip wasn't what it should have been. But, back to my initial opening statement. Maybe they were short-staffed. Maybe they were excessively busy. OK, fine. I get that. Any restaurant, large or small, can have this happen to them. BUT... you come out, at some point, and explain to us why we're having to wait so long for our dinners. Why nobody is refilling our water. People will generally be more understanding if someone talks to them and explains why things are the way they are on this particular night and that this is not the usual way it is. ONE star only for the service, and only because there is no option for NO stars. For the food, I would have given it a full FIVE stars because it WAS amazing. However, the service was so inexcusably bad, and the staff's apparent indifference to the problems, is why I left my one star rating. read more

This place is the best!! Whenever I ask my husband what he wants for dinner when we are gonna order out he always says Simi Thai! We get an order of Yellow Curry and rice and and order of Chicken Pad Thai to share, it is so good! I love their Thai tea as well. We sometimes order the Chicken Satay too. I don't like that as much as the other dishes but my kids love it. Don't forget to order the Tom Kha Soup!!! It is so delicious and the flavor explodes in your mouth! So disappointed by our favorite local Thai place. I ordered delivery and was told it would be an hour, as usual. When the hour passed I tried calling repeatedly for 20 minutes with no answer. I'm sure they were very busy, I understand that. When I finally got through the man said the driver left 5 minutes ago. He showed up 10 minutes later (we live 5 minutes away, maybe) and said "sorry, your food just finished 5 minutes ago!" But our food was very cold and soggy. It had very obviously been sitting out for a long time. I know mistakes happen, but I really don't appreciate being blatantly lied to. When the mistake was noticed our order should have been remade fresh. We won't order from Simi Thai again. read more

New Thai place we discovered in Simi. We tried their Panang curry, Spicy mint leaves, and their sticky rice with ripe mango. We said mild but it was still spicy so for those who can't stand the heat maybe request super mild. :) We got the lunch special and the meal set is pretty good for $7.50. We had salad which I really like, fried wanton, soup of the day, rice, and a dish. Yup, we finished everything! We ordered the sticky rice with mango for dessert. Really delicious! read more

I've been commuting between LA and Simi Valley for the past 2 years and I seem to always manage to come by and grab to go from Simi Thai. Reviews are true that this is a hidden gem literally since it's located in a mini mall but maybe that's a good thing which keeps it mysterious and adventurous like searching for a treasure. Well I found it for the past 2 yrs. Sure i can go to Thai Town which is about ten minutes from my house but it's just something about this place that keeps me coming back again and again, except for Mondays since they are closed.. I'll let them slide lol. Well I knew the previous owner Bee and so i was hesitant when I learned about the new owners. I was afraid the food and service would change. I am so glad to say that it has not and dare I say has even improved? The first thing i noticed was the new fresh paint color. It resembled Thai sticky rice with mango..oh yummy!!! Then i saw a brand new cast of workers. I wasn't expecting any sort of treatment like i got with Bee but i was pleasantly surprised. That day instead of ordering take out I actually sat and dined. The employees were very polite to me and held a great conversation. They recommended me some items to try and so i went with it. They recommended the beef salad which I never tried here before and it was definitely full of flavor! It rivals that of Thai Town restaurants hands down! I usually order the Shrimp Pad Thai here as my go-to dish and so this would be my deciding factor. BOOM.. It was soo good! I mean it was good before but this time something extra was thrown in and it made it delicious. Maybe the new chef put in some magic that they learned in the mother land..or practice on Mondays or something.hahaha.. i don't know how they could have perfected a dish that I already loved there.. well they managed to do it. I left no noodle unturned and even ordered an extra pad thai for the Girlfriend. She loved it btw.. Cha ching! ;) Points! What can i say about my fave Thai spot in the Valley? AwThe food was ok ( I believe they use a lot of MSG), but I was disappointed, that they wanted to charge me $5 for a Thai tea, AND wanted to charge an extra fee for no ice. I told them to remove the Thai tea from my order. There was no apology or anything for it.... So the service really sucked and they use MSG to cover the food taste.
