Grabbed dinner here with friends last night. Awesome food and vibes! Ordered the tom kha soup to start - it was hot, delicious, and exactly what I needed on a chilly winter night! Also got the Thai Basil chicken dish (also known as Ka Prow in other spots). My friends got the green curry salmon and the pad Thai, and thoroughly enjoyed both. Fantastic flavors and generous portion size. Tons of leftovers for lunch today! Service was great, ambiance is cozy and lovely. Highly recommend!

First bite was Phuket in North County!!! Wow

After living in PHUKET for a year, we have searched for a similar taste. Tonight we found it. The pad Thai was exactly what we had in Thailand and that is amazing. A chicken satay was different because it was cut off the stick, but it taste of it with the cucumbers sauce and the peanut sauce was exactly what we remember. Our friend mama had a food stall at Surin beach that was the spot, and the food tonight reminded us of mama it doesn't get any better than that. Save the trip and the points to Thailand and go to this restaurant.

A solid Thai spot with good portions and well-made dishes. Nothing mind-blowing but everything hit the spot. Panang Curry: Get Definitely the best thing we had. Rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. The chicken was tender and the sauce went great with rice. Glass Noodles with Chicken: Maybe? Nice texture and a light, savory flavor. It was enjoyable, but I usually prefer pad see ew or something a little heartier. Just a personal preference. Papaya Salad: Maybe This one came out very spicy. That was expected, but the balance was off for me. Not enough sweetness or tang to round it out. Still refreshing though. The service was friendly and the place felt clean and relaxed. Pricing was fair for the portions and overall quality. Food: 7/10 Service: 6/10 Atmosphere: 7/10 Value: 7/10

We were attending Fiesta del Sol event on Saturday and found this restaurant that was walking distance. We preferred sit down dinner and like Thai food. We went for early dinner and glad we did. The restaurant got busy later. We enjoyed our dinner and the service was excellent. The restaurant ambiance was very nice.

Mango sticky rice, so tasty!

What a sweet treasure find in this tucked away spot of Solana Beach! It's right across the train station next to a car shop. If you're craving good Thai food, you need to add this to your list. Don't let the front entrance fool you into thinking this is a run down spot. When you walk in, it's beautifully and authentically decorated in Asian style. The seats were a bit worn but all the tables were filled with people chatting and enjoying their food. And the FOOD! Oh they know how to make the Thai dishes I love. We started with the Tom Kha broth, a delicious coconut based soup filled with complex flavors. Pad See Ew noodles, Crying Tiger dish, and Panang Curry filled our main course. The portions were generous, and we gorged ourselves til our bellies cried mercy! And yet, we still had to try their mango sticky rice dessert (what good Thai restaurant would not serve this seasonal delicacy?!) Yes, the sticky rice was soft with just the right amount of sweet and the mangos fresh! So definitely make room for it even when your stomach says no more! So thrilled to have found this local gem!

This is *the* place to go if you're looking for Thai food in Solana Beach. Normally I'm a huge tom kha fan, but their tofu soup is To. Die. For. and I have to get it every time I'm here. The interior is really lovely and it's been calm and quiet every time I've been here. Service is always friendly and not overbearing like some places.

Similan is a very good Thai restaurant in a non-descript little strip mall. Can barely see the sign from the street (see pic). The lunch special is a great value. Comes with a cup of soup, small salad, a couple of egg rolls and the main course. I had the Pad See Ew and it was excellent. Perhaps the best I've had in the US.

Small tucked away spot in Solana Beach. Very friendly staff. I got the panang curry sauce and pad see ew. This was the best pad see ew I've had here in San Diego. This dish can seem so dry or light on flavor but the one here was delicious. Panang sauce was very good too. Definitely would return here! Parking is the only tough thing. Very small parking lot.

Simlian Thai 4.5 My brother and I had dinner last week at Simlian Thai. The restaurant was not crowded as we arrived a bit early. Service was prompt. We had the customary Thai beer that is always refreshing. We ordered Thai Fresh Rolls as a starter. For main courses we ordered the Pad Thai with Chicken and the Pad See Ew with Chicken. Every dish was well prepared. Throughout our meal we noted that Simlian has a very active take-out order business. With good reason, our dinners were well prepared.

The fact that they were vegan-friendly immediately earned a spot on my radar. After a long work…read moreweek, I pictured myself enjoying a quiet, peaceful dinner where I could decompress and recharge. Instead, I accidentally walked into what felt like the culinary cousin of a nightclub. The music was pumping, the energy was high, and any thoughts of a tranquil retreat disappeared faster than my appetizer. Maybe it's a completely different vibe during the day, but at night, this place is definitely alive. That said, once I adjusted my expectations (and accepted that my meditation session would have to wait), I had a great time. The restaurant is located inside Sky Deck, an indoor food hall with multiple vendors. Finding it felt a bit like a scavenger hunt since the signage wasn't very obvious, but after asking around, I eventually made my way there. I started with the garlic green beans after seeing another reviewer rave about them, and wow- they were not exaggerating. The dish arrived with a tiny umbrella perched on top, which was both adorable and unexpectedly glamorous for a plate of green beans. This appetizer was small but mighty. Every bite was packed with flavor, and if I hadn't already ordered an entrée, I absolutely would have ordered a second round. For my main course, I chose the Pad See Ew with fried tofu at medium spice. Apparently, their definition of "medium" and my definition of "medium" are not close relatives. This dish came with a kick! Halfway through, I found myself wishing I had ordered something sweet to balance things out. Instead, I bravely faced the spice armed only with hot water and a slice of lime. Um, it was a battle. While the portion size wasn't quite as large as what I've seen at similar restaurants, it ended up being exactly the right amount for me that evening. I left satisfied without feeling overly full. The service was wonderful as well. The waitresses were kind, and the hostess checked in during my meal, which made the experience feel welcoming and attentive. Although I didn't get the quiet, zen-like end to my work week that I had envisioned, I ended up enjoying something different: a fun solo date surrounded by great food, upbeat music, and the infectious energy of the crowd. Sometimes the universe gives you a peaceful retreat, and sometimes it gives you spicy noodles and a soundtrack. This time, I got the latter- and I'm not mad about it.

What we tried: Thai Iced Tea with coconut milk Fresh Spring Rolls with shrimp Tom Kha with shrimp Moo Yang Mixture Set Braised Beef Panang Curry Thai Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango Everything was truly topnotch. Every dish we got was so tasty and just made with love. One thing that was worth noting though, was how soft and tender the proteins were on the chef's signature dishes that we ordered. The braised beef just melts in your mouth! Their Thai Iced Tea was not too sweet and the mango sticky rice was utter perfection! The ambiance was amazing as their decor was not only simply exquisite, but so eye catching and interesting too, and the staff--they were so kind and attentive. You get the kind of service that will make you want to come back. They just make you feel so welcome here. Overall, we're absolutely delighted to have had dinner here and it certainly won't be the last time.

There are a handful of outdoor tables. Inside, the dining room is decorated simply. Service was very good. For dinner, I ordered the Cornish Game Hen "Le Bambou" (3/5), and my wife had the Phở Special (3/5). The Cornish Game Hen looked lovely on the plate, but I had two issues with this dish: the sauce, while tasty, lacked the layering of flavors I've come to expect with Vietnamese food; the game hen meat was dry, dry, dry. Likewise with the Phở Special, the layering of flavors was not there.

It was probably the first Vietnamese restaurant my husband and I visited after moving to SoCal more than 25 years ago. We haven't been there for years, and decided to revisit after another couple suggested we all meet up there for dinner. I found it both pleasant and disappointing. There's a moderately sized, quiet outdoor seating area, and a simple yet pleasant dining room. Service is speedy and attentive. The disappointment was the food. For the four of us, we ordered Cornish game hens, Pho special (beef pho), and 2 Shaken beef. Our dishes looked authentic, just like some we've had in Vietnam. The flavors, however, disappointed. The marvelous flavors that we enjoy so much in Vietnam, and restaurants in Convoy and in Mira Mesa were missing. Just didn't come through very much at all. For me, Le Bambou will be filed away as a fun memory of discovering everything in our immediate surroundings in San Diego. I doubt that I'll be revisiting

I was worried that because of the crowd the food might take a while, since we had a concert after, but the food arrived not 10 minutes after we ordered. We got the caesar salad, fries, and fish tacos. All were delicious! The caesar had a great dressing and I liked the addition of kale, and the fish tacos were humongous and very scrumptious, with the right amount of salsa/sauce as well as fish! We loved the ambience, the views out were incredible, the brewery itself was impressive, and it was very family friendly, we saw many kids running around and playing in the spacious back area. Our waitress was great and all the service was good, everyone was very friendly and helpful. There's valet parking. I think it was around $5 which was worth it to us for the convenience of not worrying about finding our own parking in the area. The valet workers were also very friendly and helpful. Hoping to come back soon!

THAI TEST KITCHEN @ SORRENTO VALLEY…read more I was looking for a Thai restaurant near Sorrento Valley, and this place popped up with really high reviews, so we decided to check it out. It's literally inside a corporate office building, super secluded, and definitely feels like it mainly caters to people working in the offices nearby. If you come here, just know it's more of a small corporate plaza vibe. Parking was very limited, and we were honestly a little nervous about getting towed since it's mostly corporate parking, but we parked right out front and it ended up being fine. The restaurant itself is very small, with only a few tables. There weren't many people dining in, which makes sense because it seems like most customers are office workers grabbing takeout and heading back to work. Despite that, the staff were extremely friendly, which made the experience really pleasant. We ordered the crispy pork dish, and it was incredible, super flavorful and definitely the highlight of the meal. The food overall was really good. It is on the pricier side for Thai food (around $15-$20 per entrée), but the quality matched the price. One thing to note: the bathroom is located outside of the restaurant. The staff will explain how to get there, but it's a bit of a walk and kind of tucked away in the corporate area. Overall, this place was solid, and I'm really glad we came. If you're in the Sorrento Valley area and craving Thai food, I'd definitely stop by.
