Stopped here during a road trip. It was a great find! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place was nice, good enough room, and very friendly people working here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was good. Rich in flavors and great variety to choose from the menu. Really enjoyed coming here and will stop again on our way back!

Shrimp Spring Rolls

Not just one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in the North Bay, but one of the best I've had period. Ordered the meatball pho and it was really good. Normally I save pho for a rainy, cold, or sick day. Well rains had stopped so it was now just cold. Big plus for free refills and having Starry. But the wait staff was extremely friendly and went above and beyond. Saw some lady order a spicy dish and complain that it was spicy. Without hesitation they made her a new less spicy dish. Will definitely go back.

Pork chop rice plate

My family and I stopped by Simmer Vietnamese Kitchen for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon and the place was relatively busy. The staff who greeted at the door was friendly and promptly directed our party to a booth to be seated. I tried out the spring rolls with shrimp (+$1.00 option) and opted for some extra peanut sauce as well (also +$1.00 option) For my main, I got the pork chop rice plate. The spring rolls are pretty standard here: the shrimp is cooked well and roll is wrapped neatly and tightly. However, the peanut sauce was a pretty big miss for me. The sauce tasted too watered down and could have had a thicker consistency. Additionally, I should not have ordered extra peanut sauce as the included one was plenty. For the rice plate, the pork chop was a very thin and very lean cut; you get two pieces of meat. I thought the meat had good flavor to it, but it was a bit overcooked and dry for me. The included fish-sauce based dipping sauce felt necessary for the pork chop. I had an opportunity to try out the pho here as well since somebody in my party ordered a bowl, and I thought the broth didn't have that much depth to it. If you're craving Vietnamese food, Simmer seems to be the only option in Petaluma. Unfortunately, there's much better options if you're willing to drive a bit further to either Santa Rosa, or even Richmond or Oakland.

Special pho

It's a bigger than normal pho size when one orders their pho. They are charging $18 for pho so I guess the size justifies the price. Lemongrass chicken bowl was something different and good, but not enough flavor. Iced Vietnamese coffee is small for a standard beverage. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service and decor is nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We brought our baby here a couple of times and he made a big mess the first time around so they banned babies from sitting on the side. I'm guessing it's due to mess precaution & safety reasons.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Whoops. We opted for a booth and a booster seat instead of a high chair. If one is craving pho in those vicinity, this place is place to go. There's not much competition.

Designated GF items clearly marked

Simmer is my go-to when I am feeling sick, luckily haven't been there in a while but unfortunately needed to stop by for some chicken pho and fresh spring rolls. Food has been consistent throughout the past 10 years. When ordered, the employee was very confident and knowledgeable with GF items they offer. They also have designated GF items highlighted on menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Indoor seating is clean/spacious tables, few outdoor tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. Everything was so tasty. A must try if you havent.

A whole coconut juice

So delicious, the food was amazing and serving size was perfect! Great service, they kept checking in to make sure everything was good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was so good, they have music playing at low volume.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Heard Selena song, thought that was nice! I ordered the BBQ combination, and wife ordered the Prawn pho! Don't forget to order a whole coconut juice! Once you finish drinking, they cut open the coconut to eat it.

This is my favorite go-to for Pho. Their pumpkin curry gets an A+, as do the spring rolls. Great food, nice people.

Ask the Community - Simmer Vietnamese Kitchen

Why did they stop the partnership with Door Dash - it was always my go to when sick?

Door Dash was probably charging too much for fees. It looks like Simmer screwed themselves by giving Door Dash the website. Or, you could say Door Dash screwed them. Now…

I tried to call but the message says the mail box is full but the phone didn't ring? Is there another way to order to go?

Yes. Only by calling

This is a lovely family run restaurant worth supporting, and I highly recommend eating here!…read moreWe wanted to try something new and decided on Pho Sonoma. It was a mellow Tuesday night and when we walked in the restaurant was mostly empty, which was a little unnerving, but we were greeted promptly and warmly. We ordered an appetizer and 4 entrees between 2 adults and 2 toddlers, and nearly licked the plates clean. The banh mi sandwich, garlic noodles, and BBQ pork are to die for! But, what made the visit truly special was meeting Jenny, the owner and chef, and her husband. They came out personally to check on our table, introduced themselves, and made my husband, our two young kids, and me feel completely at home. Their warmth and genuine hospitality are rare, and it showed in every interaction. This is the kind of family-run gem you hope to stumble upon -- where the people behind the food are just as wonderful as the food itself. We'll absolutely be back! Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

Quality of food is also beyond my expectations. Waitress recommended the clay pot so I gave that a try and don't regret it one bit. It's everything I love. Lots of tofu, veggies (that weren't over cooked) and rice. I have a big appetite and the amount of food was just the right amount. I did not leave hungry at all. while I waited for my food, they brought my appetizer. It was delicious. The shrimp spring rolls were fresh, and peanut sauce that came with it was loaded with little peanut pieces (I love a crunchier sauce over a smooth sauce). I also enjoyed a Thai iced tea. I'm not a fan of almond milk, but whichever brand they use, was better than any other I've had at other places. I want to go back and try the bahn mi sandwich. Service was really good and restaurant offered booth seating and open table seating. Can't wait to go back!

Located on Lakeville Highway, just east of Hwy 101, it would make a good place to stop for a nice lunch or dinner. I was there on a warm Saturday, at around 11:30 am. The dining room has a contemporary asian decor. The AC kept the air cool and comfortable. There's several 2,4, and 6 seat tables. Just before lunchtime, the place was 1/3 full with customers. I was seated along the wall. I was offered a menu, and choice of hot tea or ice water. I asked for chopsticks, because the place setting had a fork. I ordered the Mongolian Beef lunch plate w/ fried rice. Also, I asked for an order of (Lightly Breaded) Fried Prawns. Service was excellent. My waiter was very attentive, and served my food as soon as it was ready. He told me if there were any delays. I didn't have to ask for anything. The Fried Prawns were large and plump. They were served with various sauces to choose from. The Mongolian Beef lunch plate had a nice presentation. The portion size was fair. The fried rice was moist, and blended well with the Mongolian Beef. The Mongolian Beef was spicy and tasted just right. Hot 'n Sour soup came with the lunch plate. Lily Kai's recipe for hot 'n sour soup is a little different than what you might get in most other chinese restaurants. They make it with alot of mushrooms. The familiar flavor was there, but it lacked several expected ingredients. Well, as long as it tasted good, I'm okay with it. ----------------------------------------------- So I had a great first time experience here. The plaza has a free shared parking lot. There's a Starbucks Coffee shop in the same plaza. Also, this place is down the street from the Kaiser Medical Offices. Also, they have clean and large restrooms. Lily Kai is in the Adobe Creek Center at Lakeville Hwy & South McDowell Blvd.

UPDATE mid-May 2026…read more They've reopened a few days a week due to popular demand! They were focused on their catering for a bit. No hot pot until the winter. Only open on weekends. Lunch is takeout only. Yay! Their bbq pork is their specialty along with other roasted meats.

I totally was that weird kid who ate strange food growing up. I would rather eat lobster or…read moreartichokes than chicken or green beans, and given the choice I'd gladly eat my body weight in dim sum over basically any other food. That hasn't changed at all for me as an adult! In Sonoma county there was really just one place with dim sum, and lots of people wanted more options. I tried other restaurants with their dim sum adjacent menus, but they were pretty mediocre and mostly focused on fried pot stickers or the occasional steamed siu mai. Once I heard fantasy was starting a true dim sum menu, I knew we had to try it. The day we arrived I was solidly in my third trimester of pregnancy and getting around was a chore, but that wasn't going to keep me from dim sum. We were the only guests the whole time on the day we went there, which was weird to me given how good the food ended up being! Service was great, super friendly and just lovely folks. The restaurant was clean and we'll organized, and the menu was a good mix of traditional favorites and some trendy BAO for the insta. We ordered a little of everything , which to me is why dim sum is so fun. Food came out super fast, and we tucked right in. Surprisingly to me, my favorite dish is one hubs picked on a whim, the spicy won tons. The flavors and textures were on point, and even with pregnancy heartburn, the spice on these things was well worth it. Super delicious. I felt the pandan and black sesame bao were overly trendy for my taste, but I'm sure those who are new to dim sum could see these options as easy introduction into the food. Really good experience here with very tasty food, nice people and quality dishes. I'm still getting over the idea of expensive dim sum because of growing up eating it in SF with low costs in a humble setting, but for this overall experience I felt the prices were fine. I will definitely be back, and eager to try the rest of the items on their menu.
