Good sized portion too. The balsamic vinegar made it a great appetizer. Tunisian Tuna Tartine - Chef's kiss and healthy. Love tapenade and comes with a simple side salad. The white beans were a little too firm for me. Creme brûlée - served in a jar. Was so creamy and rich, some of the best I've had but too bad the sugar layer was over torched and bitter. The inside area was bustling and loud. The bar is nice and I would come back. It's not for very large groups but offers seafood options and a Croque Madame that I'll probably try next. A word about parking: if you don't valet, be warned that Culver Steps parking posts rates that only apply to P1. Any other level ISN'T FREE for the first hour; it's SEVEN dollars. Cute little French restaurant located inside a hotel. My friends and I came for brunch over Labor Day weekend. I made reservations and was seated promptly. Surprisingly, it was not busy and we had quit w a bit of space The space essentially acts as the bar/lobby area to the hotel. There's lots of greenery and natural lighting. Food wise, the standout was the French onion soup which came with a large fluffy puff pastry on top. It was delicious and well seasoned. Definitely a hit if you love a good classic French onion soup. My friends mainly ordered their burgers and truffle fries. All good and satisfying, but nothing to rave about. Forgettable. Would I return? Sure. Would I go out of my way for the food, probably not. We lap randomly had to wait such a long time for a Caesar salad that didn't come until the end of the meal. I would say it's a cute space for brunch with friends. Arriving / parking: There's a valet out front for $17 for dinnertime but you can try your luck for street parking or the parking structure near the Culver Steps if you don't mind the walk. You can probably walk in during lunch or happy hour times but reservations are always good for a larger group or if timing is important. We can get checked in no problem, just be sure to hang left on entry for the restaurant instead of the hotel desk at the right. Vibe: Gorgeous bar with art deco like detail, and also open patio area towards the back, with smaller indoor seating near the entrance. It gets loud in the evening so you may need to raise your voice a bit to hear your party but it's lively! Service: Friendly, sometimes not too timely if the place has a lot of tables filled but we could flag people down to get our water refilled, silverware, etc. Food/drinks: The cocktails are lovely and imaginative and the recommendations are on point based on your preferences, not too sweet and well balanced in flavor and strength. Food comes in good portions! The French onion soup comes out piping hot with a pastry crust, very domed and beautiful, big enough to share with two. The burger is always good and the fries that come with it are delicious and truffly. The vegetarian squash risotto is cheesy and you can taste every flavorful grain of al dente rice along with the crisp sage leaves. We had an amazing dinner at Simonette Thursday night. The service was outstanding and our server was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and I wish we would've sat in the room with all the plants because it was gorgeous back there. The room we sat in was lovely as well. Some of us had the Dina menu and started off with the Caesar salad or vegan croquettes. Some had the onion soup and Sam had the Tapanade with toast. Everyone enjoyed their appetizers. For dinner we had mussels, salmon, the Parisian burger, and another salmon dish from the Dine LA menu. For dessert we enjoyed the strawberry cheesecake and the crème brûlée. The only downside to the restaurant was that the valet parking was full and the valet could have told us that the street was permit parking only because there are 1 million signs to decipher from and we ended up getting a $60 ticket For parking in a permit only. We didn't feel so bad because almost everyone on the street got a ticket too. I think in the future, the valet should warn you not to park on the street and they should know the rules for parking since they work on that street every night. I had brunch here on a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant wasn't too busy. The restaurant is located at the bottom of a boutique hotel. The decor is cute. They have an outdoor area with a tree that provides some shade but I was afraid the sun would be too hard and I'd get sunburnt so we opted for an indoor table. Their bar area is pretty cool and located in the center of the restaurant. The restrooms are the same as the hotel lobby restrooms. I was lucky to find free street parking on one of the side streets. Make sure you look at the street signs because there is a lot of spots that are permit parking only and you don't want to find a $100 parking violation ticket on your dashboard. We ordered the moules frites and beef hash. Both dishes were good, the service was fine, but nothing exceptional. I didn't like that I had to keep having to swat flies away from our food since the hostess seated us right next to the door. Recommend stopping by if in the area, but wouldn't make a special trip for it. read more

My husband and I were staying at the Palihotel Culver City and Simonette is the restaurant that they have featured in the hotel. We had our dog with us, and the hotel as well as the restaurant is very dog friendly which is a huge plus! The hotel is beautifully designed and it is reflected in Simonette's dining space. The inside of the restaurant isn't large, but it features a very cute atrium & bar as well as a front space that is opened up to the sidewalk which reminds me of a few places I dined in France. I would recommend a reservation for this place because it was very busy. We got in just before happy hour ended and were able to order some various appetizers to share as well as some burgers. But during the colder months, it might be better to sit outdoors since they have heat lamps and the inside gets cold because of how open it is to the outside. Met a friend here for dinner and tried quite a few of their bites. Highly recommend coming on a Monday because it's all night happy hour where you can get $10 burgers and $10 croquettes. I personally really liked the croquettes and pomme frites drizzled in truffle oil. Street parking nearby is abundant but confusing because of all the signs about permits. To avoid the headache (and a possible $70 parking ticket), I just parked at Culver Steps and we grabbed Salt and Straw for dessert where I got validation. One odd thing I noticed was throughout the night the staff kept dropping or breaking things. First there was a pitcher that fell, then we heard some glass break, and by the end of the night, some cutlery on the other side had fallen on the ground. It was funny but also rather odd. I asked 2 or 3 times if the oysters were available. Both times I was told yes and then told no onceIwas seated. The inconsistent nature of what is on the menu vs what is actually available is exceedingly frustrating. Did a random Yelp search for dinner one day and what came up was Simonette. Probably one of the most pleasant French (or French inspired) restaurants you'll want to try! I took a chance with the steak and frites and it was heaven, the flavor and plating of the meal was perfect. My compliments to the chef. There's a great selection of wine available to pair with your meal so give that a look too. The service is top notch too. Offering wonderful suggestions and taking care of your table with delight. It's a restaurant connected to a hotel that is tucked away off the main downtown Culver City area. I went at night for dinner and can say the highlight of my meal was the beef bourguignon. The meat was soft and easy to chew and the pasta was to die for. It's on the first floor of the PaliHotel Culver City just steps from the Culver steps and Culver Hotel. I parked in the Culver steps parking structure on the lower floors. We went for Sunday brunch and the brunch items are French inspired. The boeuf hash was good, yet the portion was a little small. The service was very bad. Everyone was nice, but there is a lack of competence, efficiency and urgency. One member of our party waited over an hour for her meal. The server and the manager were aware that her plate was missing, yet they didn't rush the order. The entire party was already done eating by the time her food came. The manager did not stop by to check in and apologize at our table nor ensure the kitchen was expediting the order. There were also several simple items out of stock like Coke. I'm surprised this is in a hotel, as hospitality was the least of their priorities on our visit. The fries are served with truffle salt. Now, let me tell you about this burger because I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. The burger is served on a sesame bun. My date and I had the Clams Simonette and stuffed peppers. The clams were perfectly cooked and bathed in a luscious Café de Paris butter that adds a rich, creamy depth to every bite. The garlic breadcrumbs on top provide a satisfying crunch and an extra layer of flavor that complements the tender clams beautifully. The flavor of the peppers were terrific, but they got cold pretty fast! Definitely should have eaten those first, but the clams looked so damn tasty we had to dive into that first! Why he looked at just my face and assumed he knew my worth let alone what I could afford is beyond me. As someone who works in the service industry I would never ever treat a guest this way. So not only was he short and rude to us, but now you're assuming how much money I have...? First and last time coming here immediately off-putting. Wish I had gotten his name for sake of this review.
