Located in downtown Culver inside the Palihotel, this cafe, restaurant, and bar brings the feel of French pleasures and sophistication with major hints of classic American dishes. The ambience was better than the food. They have a beautiful patio with seating and string lights. Inside, there are long tables and intimate small tables. The music genre was American throwback, fun but also in contrast to the French vibe. The vegetarian burger option was the Beyond burger, which they charged an additional $5-7 on top of the original price. This was interesting since it was a replacement, not an additional burger patty. Anyway, it is on the pricey side. The first couple times I came here, it was a great experience, which is why I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 1. Recently, I took my parents and my kids out for what was supposed to be a nice celebratory meal and it was really disappointing. My kids had a short day before the holidays so I made a reservation for 4pm so we could have an enjoyable meal and still make it back in time for showers and bedtime. It was intended to celebrate a presentation my daughter gave at school that day, both kids' winter performances, and most of all my parents' 58th wedding anniversary. Even though the restaurant was nearly empty, they sat us in the front which does not have nearly as nice of an atmosphere as the back. When a fly would not leave us alone by the open window in the front, I asked if we could be moved to the back. They reluctantly said they could as long as we cleared out before 6pm, which I said we would. Our waitress during this time was not friendly and she left her shift without even saying anything, which was odd. The next waitress who took over was at least friendlier, although the service was not much better. We had come mostly for the mussels and were very disappointed to learn that they don't start serving them until 5pm, and they would not make an exception to serve them even 30 minutes earlier. It was strictly only the happy hour menu until 5pm, which was a tease since they had sat us with the full dinner menu as well, so we assumed we could order off either. My son likes burgers, but there was nothing my daughter wanted to eat (and she's the better eater of the two). Eventually, we agreed to share the Parisienne burger, which arrived toward the end of the meal and immediately began oozing a dark sauce until it was literally sitting in a puddle on the plate. It was disgusting looking and made my daughter lose her appetite. I had to ask to have it removed right away and taken off the bill, which they did, but still really disappointing. My parents and I had ordered the happy hour cocktail of the day, which was like an aperol spritz but made with mezcal and agave - I liked mezcal, but it was pretty gross and I wished I'd just ordered a regular cocktail. I had mentioned when I made the reservation that it was to celebrate my parents' anniversary, and there was no mention of it whatsoever. Close quarters with European feel, low lights, and oddly enough 80's music piped in, which made me very happy! No rezzies, so we were lucky to be seated!! The seating and setting is intimate, but it must be popular as well, because the place was packed and loud!! We came during happy hour, greeted warmly by our server, Grace. Checked on by Matthew Jacobs, the food and beverage manager; love the attentive service!! Martinis and the house wine, which was a delicious pino noir, cheers!! We couldn't believe the size of the beef Bourguignon!! =O. Fall off the bone tender, perfectly seasoned and mouth watering delicious!! Mum enjoyed her steak and we ate every last bite of everything ( had to help her finish that dessert too, lol!) !!! The ambiance here is very nice, as it's a cute little patio between spaces outdoors. It was a lovely afternoon to sit and enjoy the weather, too. The service was fine. Nothing of note really. The food though... meh. It's expensive for not much of anything at all. There's nothing novel, careful, or especially well-made to merit the kind of prices that you'll find here. Certainly steer clear of the stuff that's way simple, like a salad - you're getting the bare minimum, and there are no fancy add-ons or toppings to speak of. Burgers are... fine. The omelette... okay. I dunno, folks. It's a sort of niche location, so if you're not staying nearby or at the hotel, there's no real reason to check it out. read more

Best burger I've had in Los Angeles! I know this is a bold statement, but I'm not even joking. This cafe is hidden in the downtown Culver City area. Just a block away from the stairs, in an unassuming lobby of a hotel. This café is a beautiful spot for brunch. It has a very nice open courtyard area. That gets a lot of sunlight and the vibe was very cool. The staff was also super friendly and helpful. My wife and I both saw the Parisienne burger. Just three ingredients listed. Caramelized onion, American cheese, sauce bordelaise. We both decided to order it instead of splitting a second entrée because it sounded so good. It lived up to all the hype. If you go to this place, this is a must try item. We brought our two year old, and they also had pancakes which were delicious, and we got a side of french fries. That's the whole review. I'm sure there are a ton of other burgers, appetizers, entrees that also could surprise you, but it would be hard for me to revisit this café and not get this burger. Hadnt been back here since very early in the year and could hear the music as i pulled up. Came around 830pm and easily found street parking. Made a reservation and got sat immediately Our waitress Vanessa was quick and attentive with everything. Letting me know about all the Dine La selections being offered. Got the agave spritz and could taste that Smokey mezcal, it was strong but not too much where you can't enjoy it The mozarella appetizer i thought would be a stick but was a little different than expected but really good. Reminded me of avocado toast with egg on top Never had the Americane burger but it's definitely a favorite and the reason I'll be back. The bun just needed to be a little bigger and less olives but it tasted amazing. Drink deals on every night and downtown culver to walk around right outside of it. Simonette is a super cute spot located just off the main drag in downtown Culver City. They have this enclosed indoor/outdoor patio with a tree in the middle and lots of vibey string lights. You can simply come and sit at the bar which I think would be great as well. Our server was so friendly and even brought us a complimentary bottle of water (without us asking) when it was taking a while for their carafes to be filled. We had to start with the Steak Tartare Crostone which was exquisite if you're a tartare fan. We then shared the Moules (mussels) which come in a saffron cream with spinach and fennel. My only complaint would be that we needed more bread to soak up that delectable sauce. The Little Gems Salad and Parisienne Burger rounded out our meal. We split both which was perfect because the burger was rich, topped with caramelized onions, cheese and sauce bordelaise and the salad was a nice compliment of freshness. read more

Reservations are recommended as we had to wait a little bit for a table. But 20 minutes was not a long wait. We ordered off the happy hour menu. Wine was a great deal at $7/glass. I ordered the agave spritz cocktail. It was really good but it was a gooood pour. I was buzzed half way through the drink. Oysters were $2 each so we ordered a dozen. Fries were delicious at $4/plate. Generous helping of the fried potato goodness. I ordered the burger Parisienne while my dinner companions ordered the roadside double burger. I thought the burger was heavenly. Meat was really juicy and it didn't feel heavy. Sesame bun was very fluffy and the caramelized onions were buttery and melted in my mouth. Best burger I've had in a while at such a deal price ($10). I was really sad I finished my food. My friends felt the same about their burgers. I would probably skip the crepe dessert. Not so much a crepe but a soggy tortilla. Valet parking is available. Street parking would be difficult to find unless you have a permit to park in the area. Great overall experience. We had dinner here recently and it was one of the best experiences ever, on all counts! The place is so quaint and cozy, absolutely beautiful. The food was very delicious. You can tell that a lot of love and pride went into the preparation. I had the chicken which was amazing, so juicy, yet crispy, without at all being greasy. My husband loved the beef bourgignon, which came with smooth and creamy mashed potatoes. For dessert, an incredible creme brulee. Maddy was our server and she was warm, attentive and kind. To avoid the 17 dollar valet I parked in the public lot for a total of 4 bucks while I attended a travel agent event at the bar lounge area. The hotel is secluded away from the main drag in a quite area behind the Culver City hotel. The hotel has a nice ambiance and despite the overpacked event we enjoyed our gathering. The cocktail of the day $8 was bourbon w/ strawberry puree, real tasty! Lets talk food. Frites were fantastic. Hot crisp and scented with rosemary and truffle $5. Three choices of burger, the dbl smash was amaze. Two really flavorful patties on a nice soft sesame bun with a dreamy garlic aioli. $10. Finding a better burger in LA for the price, may not exist. 2nd visit was with the misses on Tuesday. Tried the vodka and gin martinis and they were ok. Had another uncold beer. Consistent. We shared the olive spread on toast $9 not discounted for HH. Had the Paris burger this time with red wine reduction, good but not better than smash. The bar / restaurant is inside with an alfresco feel with doors open to the outside, and a tree growing inside. Nice wooden tables and some comfy red leather benches. Service has been par excellence. There is a hostess as well. The staff is dressed very bistro. Simonette is our new GoTo happy hour. It has so much going for it. Well street parking is nearly impossible and yet there is a valet. What a gorgeous restaurant! I love that it's tucked away behind downtown Culver City. I'm obsessed with the tree in the middle of the patio. I also really like how open the space is. It would be a beautiful place to go to brunch with some girlfriends. Took about an hour for our food to be served. Then got served something we didn't order and it took another 10 minutes for the replacement to get to us. I had the roadside double which is like an elevated in n out burger (not a complaint). Such a lovely restaurant. Stopped by with my mom the other day for dinner and the aesthetic was unique. They play French movies on a projector too which was a nice touch and not something one usually comes across in a restaurant. Everyone from the valet to the waitstaff was welcoming and the food was also pretty good. The Americaine Burger was my personal favorite. I knew it when it was a hotel before the renovation, nothing spectacular but when they remodeled it, I couldn't believe the transformation. I had always looked at the bar when I passed by and it looked beautiful, it wasn't, it was magical. It was like being in an enchanted garden. My friends drove up from Orange County to drop their daughter and her boyfriend off at Sofi so I suggested we hang out. They were bringing their pup and I needed a dog friendly bar or restaurant. I called the Simonette and asked if they were pet friendly. Their very kind receptionist enthusiastically told me that they were so I made a reservation for the 5 of us. Our server Maddi was the best. She was attentive not only to our needs but that of the pup by bringing him fresh water. She looked after us very well. We never had to try to find her, she was there when we needed her. We had drinks that were very creative and delicious. I loved the beautifully shaped ice cubes for the drinks. I ended up having a burger and it was so decadent. It was juicy and so delicious. The flavor was phenomenal. The cheese was melted perfectly. My friend had a chocolate tart. Her husband said he was not going to have any, then quickly helped my friend devour it. Nothing was left except the cocoa powder. The ambiance was amazing. The bar area wasn't loud so it had a feeling of relaxation. We enjoyed the time with our friends and Cooper. I highly recommend this incredible place, especially if you have a doggy. read more

There was a lot of excitement when Simonette opened in Downtown Culver City, so I knew I had to get brunch here. When I finally went, I thought the patio was gorgeous. The menu is okay, but it wasn't very exciting. I wound up getting the CROQUE MADAME (comte, jamon, mornay, crème fraiche, fried egg). It was good and I also had a great coffee. For dessert, I got the CRÊPES SUZETTE (burnt orange caramel, combier), which I loved a lot. Overall, a very good meal, but there was something missing. I'm not sure. Simonette is the restaurant at the Palihotel. It's tucked away from the hustle and bustle on Downtown Culver on a fairly quiet street. To start, we shared the French breakfast radishes ($9.00) because who doesn't love a little butter with their radishes. I should have Googled "fleur de sel" because the radishes were indeed fleur de sel-y. They were, in fact, butter dipped radishes and this is not my preferred way to eat them. For my entree, I opted for the omelette ($16). Comté cheese is folded into the omelette. This was okay. In fact, it was an American omelette in Parisian disguise. The omelette was quite overcooked compared to other versions I've previously eaten. I also found the cheese to be thick and on the verge of being a bit rubbery. Simonette is quality room service food - good for room service, but meh otherwise. The al fresco dining area is quite cute. It'd be a cool place to grab a drink if you're in the area. read more

I can make a better steak at home. The fries were good. The green beans were nothing to write home about- not bad not amazing- just fine. My husband and I went for dinner on a Friday night with a reservation and were seated immediately. We each ordered a drink - he had a Japanese old fashioned, and I had a tequila drink with blackberry and lime, and both were good. For food, I tried the beef bourguignon, while my husband had the salmon, and we split the croquettes for an appetizer. I enjoyed my food more than my husband liked his, as he felt his salmon was underseasoned. My beef was good, if a bit fatty, but I wish I knew it came with noodles, as I ordered mashed potatoes for a side and found myself overly starched. The croquettes were good, if a bit plain, but the sauce they were served with made up for that. Unfortunately, the configuration of this restaurant was highly distracting in a negative way. It's very loud when it's full, with nothing to dampen the noise. And the tables are far too close together, so anyone getting up requires a strategy on how to maneuver through the other diners. I think our service suffered because our waitress put off trying to make her way to our table in the back corner of the room. She was pleasant and friendly, but it took ages for her to show up for every step of the meal. It was fine, and the decor was lovely. But at this price point, and considering the downsides, I can't say I'd return. read more

Simonette's Happy Hour Menu is awesome! Unlike many other places where the portions shrink on the HH menu, they definitely do not here. The $8 cocktail that evening was bourbon and strawberry and was served with a festive orange slice on top. The cozy patio was fairly busy but not too loud. This is a review of their Valentine's day prix fixe menu. I chose this place for my and my friend to have a fun galentine's day and this dinner was so bad it ruined the rest of our night. First off, we were seated right away but we had to wait so long for the first course. Our reservation was at 8:30 PM and we didn't take our first bites of food until after 9:15 PM. That's over 45 minutes of waiting for a tiny first course. Once we were ready to dig in, we realized we didn't get any silverware. So we had to wait another 10 minutes or so just for a fork. The food was okay, nothing special about it. We were told halfway through our courses that they sold out of some things and they were substituting. That was a bummer on top of all the waiting. Overall, the restaurant has a nice interior and branding but the service and food were less than impressive. It was actually painful paying close to $300 for a terrible dinner. Prior to coming in, my friends and I were checking out their menu and was slobbering for their burgers ( pictures were that intriguing). Happy hour meant $10 burgers!!! We all had different models and were hella stuffed. Great flavor to the meat and grilled onions. We shared grilled asparagus ( amazing) and basket of fries. I haven't been here in a couple of years and things have gone downhill. I know restaurants are struggling but the food wasn't up to par. Came with a date on a Friday night. We had escargot - just ok - didn't finish them - and the raclette appetizer. The server said ahead of time, it was very light. Raclette, light? Really? It's gooey melted cheese typically served with potatoes. What came out was like potato chips and dip. The "raclette" was "whipped" (some sort of dairy dip) with potato chips. I ordered gnocchi with Jerusalem artichokes and server said beforehand their gnocchi is different and not potato gnocchi. Indeed it was different. They came out in little logs of barely cooked dough, instead of normal-size gnocchi, with a sad sauce and not much of it and the Jerusalem artichokes were chips, like potato chips. My date got the trout and he said it was just ok. Server forgot to bring the bill and we had to flag someone down so we could pay. I won't be back. read more

A really enjoyable French dinner on the ground floor of the Palihotel. It's really bright and open inside and the whole ambience is really great. A really beautiful bar as well as seating inside and outside complete with a tree in the middle of the outdoor dining area. Our server was very polite and attentive and did a great job. They offer valet parking at the hotel but it's easier to just find street parking or park at the Culver Steps. We were able to find metered parking a block away for a 7 PM Saturday dinner. We started off with the Seasonal Salad, which was a champagne vinaigrette and arugula salad with goat cheese. It was a great start, very light, and very good. We followed that up with the Steak Tartare, and it too was very good. For our entrées, we chose the Filet de Boeuf and Roasted Bass. I especially enjoyed the sauce that covered the filet and the fish was very buttery and cooked perfectly. We were to full after our meal to do dessert, but would definitely try that next time. Overall a great French dinner in Culver City. I would recommend to anyone searching for a great casual dinner spot. I hear their brunch and lunch is also very good as well. read more
