I, of course, told her that I don't hear anything (wishful thinking on my part). So I take it in to Torrance Motors without an appointment and ask if they could take a quick look at it to verify it is still safe to drive, as we had a long upcoming trip in a few days. They right away put it up on the lift and verified that it was safe to drive. However, the control arm, tie rods and bushings (leaking grease) were shot. Showed me the pictures and it was a mess. This level of repair was not cheap...but it was reasonable. No more complaints from my wife...at least about the car.

The alignment was slightly off at first, but they told me to bring it back and got it dialed in perfectly the following day. They stand behind their work and even told me to come back if anything needed to be re-torqued after the suspension settled. The results came out great. The stance looks much better with the factory rake reduced, and the ride quality still feels smooth and OEM-like. No noises, vibrations, or issues afterward. The vehicle drives straight and handles great. Professional service, quality work, and solid communication throughout the process. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a clean leveling spacer install done right.

Body work I recently took my car in for some body work, The cost of the repairs was less than I expected. The car came back looking like new and the paint matched perfectly. Beautiful! Herbert was a big help for me with getting my 2016 Honda accord touring fixed. I had taken it to…read moremultiple mechanics AND the dealer, and no one could tell me exactly what my issue was and just be straight with me. I had an emissions system issue that gave me the code 'P0139'. The first mechanic I took it to last year told me that it was a simple o2 sensor issue (rightfully so considering the code I was getting), yet when he replaced the sensor, the light continually came on. So he replaced it again, and replaced another o2 sensor on the vehicle (according to him). When none of that worked, he told me that my catalytic converter was faulty, and that I was going to have to pay roughly 8k for a new one. Safe to say I didn't believe him, nor did I stick around and simply take his word for it. I started making calls and, at first, genuinely believed that I was going to have to come up with the 8k by summer 2026 (when my smog inspection was due). I thought at one point I was sold a faulty vehicle too and even tried to receive compensation for the error. Turns out that wasn't the case, and even if it was, there wasn't much I could about it anymore. I took it to others who quoted me ridiculous prices for a simple diagnostic, I took it to others that just simply couldn't tell me what was wrong, and then to make things more confusing, the light would go on and off and would even go off long enough for me to pass smog!!! (Even though the first guy I went to said my catalytic converter was bad). Then, I looked online and found Master Tech. Great reviews, great location in the South Bay (Torrance), and fair pricing. Diagnostic was about 160, which would go toward repairs if needed, and if they couldn't find the issue I'd pay zero dollars! When I first got there, already Herbert pointed out things no mechanic pointed out before. I was told and under the impression that all my sensors were new and changed... they weren't. He also informed me that my vehicle was an American built one (not Japanese or Canadian, which I heard can make all the difference in quality). That's information that, although wasn't a huge concern, let me know that this guy paid attention to detail and really cared about what he was doing. He then told me to leave it with him later on in the week so he could give the vehicle TLC (tender love and care), and to be comfortable with not having my vehicle for a couple days (wasn't a problem at all). Eventually he gets back to me after a day and lets me know that the sensor had to be changed out with an oem one, as the previous mechanic put in an aftermarket one. On the day that I picked the car up and paid for the install, we both hopped in and took it for a ride, and the engine was running smooth like butter now. No more rich running (causing my gas to burn faster), and no more harsh shifting. He then hands me over the old sensor and informs me that I should go get my money back from the other mechanic. It turns out, the other guy was trying to screw me over (surprise, surprise!), whereas Herbert was honest and righteous. The piece the other mechanic put in was a Bosch sensor, made specifically for German made vehicles. Smh. It was for VOLKSWAGENS and the like ONLY. He was just trying to get me to pay him thousands, and perhaps allow me to further damage my engine and transmission from the issues he was forcing my vehicle to go thru for the time that it wasn't working properly due to a lazy, incompatible o2 sensor. I was relieved that I found Herbert who was able to help me and install the correct piece for a fair price (443 roughly, as opposed to the almost 700 dollars the dealer would've tried to charge me). I like his style, and he is definitely a righteous mechanic. Thank you bro!

Recently, I needed to replace the evaporator core and expansion valve for my A/C, and the dealership quoted me almost twice what JAC did. Since it was such an expensive repair, I decided to give JAC a try, and I'm so glad I did. The first thing that impressed me was the size of the shop. They have multiple service bays, not just in the main area but in another section as well. More importantly, the customer service was outstanding. Whenever I called with a question, Kevin didn't have someone else relay the information--he got on the phone himself and kept me updated every step of the way. When the replacement part they received turned out to be defective, they handled it quickly and made it right without any hassle. Another thing I really appreciated was the complimentary rides to and from my home while my car was being repaired. Maria and Mario were both incredibly kind. Maria mentioned she had recently joined JAC after working as a parts driver for another company, and she had nothing but positive things to say about the people there, which spoke volumes to me. Then, over the weekend, while driving to Orange County and finally enjoying my cold A/C, I started hearing a strange wind noise coming from my convertible top. I thought maybe a seal had come loose, but when I got home and looked under the car, I discovered my engine splash shield had torn loose and was scraping the road. I called JAS right away, and they immediately contacted the parts department, ordered the replacement, and took care of it quickly. I want to thank the entire team. From Kevin, Roger, and Dan to Maria and Mario, everyone I dealt with was professional, honest, and genuinely helpful. It's hard to find a repair shop you can trust, but I can honestly say I trust JAC. They may not give your vehicle a courtesy wash before you leave, but if you're saving $$ is it really worth it? If you're looking for a great place to have your vehicle serviced, I highly recommend giving them a try.

Everything I asked about was quoted significantly higher than what I would consider reasonable market pricing. I first contacted this business several months ago after my catalytic converter was stolen. I reached out to ask about pricing for protection for a new replacement catalytic converter that I would purchase myself. The protection they offered was extremely expensive compared with other options I had researched. I returned to the business for a second time today, August 11, 2026, for a different reason. I wanted them to visually inspect two old parts to determine their condition. One of the parts was leaking oil and the other was not. During our conversation, Ernie did explain that the best way to determine whether the parts were actually functioning properly would be to install them on the vehicle and test them. I ultimately decided not to have that testing performed because, after being told that one of the parts was leaking, I was no longer interested in purchasing the set of old parts at that point. More importantly, the pricing I received today was based on the services I was asking about rather than an inspection that established what work was actually necessary. For example, I was quoted $225 for an alignment. From my research and the prices I have found from other automotive shops, I can get an alignment for approximately $100-$150 elsewhere. At $225, that is simply not a price I am willing to pay. The disappointing part is that this was not an isolated incident. The first time I contacted this business, I felt the pricing was extremely high and overpriced. The second time, I had the same experience. After researching the cost of these services and comparing prices elsewhere, I found the quotes I received to be substantially higher than reasonable alternatives. I also left with the impression that I was being quoted higher prices because I am a woman and that the assumption was that I wouldn't know enough to question the prices. If that was the intention, it was a very poor assumption. I do my research, I know what services cost, and I am not going to agree to inflated pricing simply because someone assumes I won't know the difference. Being located in Redondo Beach does not justify charging excessively high prices. A local automotive business should be serving the community by providing fair, transparent, and reasonable pricing, not charging excessive prices simply because customers need automotive services. Another issue with excessively high pricing is that it ultimately puts the customer in a lose-lose situation. When a business quotes an unreasonable price, the customer has to spend additional time and energy researching other shops, making phone calls, getting additional quotes, and potentially traveling elsewhere to find a fair price. On the other hand, customers who do accept these prices may end up paying substantially more of their hard-earned money than necessary. That is one of the reasons I am taking the time to write this review. I want other people to be aware of my experience before they spend their own time and energy inquiring about services here. My recommendation is to get prices from multiple shops before agreeing to any work. Based on the prices I was quoted on both occasions, I personally would look elsewhere. I have no issue paying a fair price for quality work, but I do have an issue with being given prices that are substantially higher than reasonable alternatives. Because of these experiences, I would not return to this business for future services, and I would not recommend it to friends, family, or anyone looking for honest and reasonably priced automotive service. RESPONSE TO OWNER: Your response reinforces the reason for my review. You explained why your shop charges more, but that does not address my concern: the prices I was quoted were substantially higher than prices I found from other legitimate automotive shops for comparable services. You stated that your pricing is standardized and every customer receives the same quote. If so, this was not an isolated quote. Other customers can expect the same overpriced quotes. Regarding my comment about being a woman, I described my personal impression; I did not claim to have evidence proving discriminatory intent. I acknowledge your explanation. Your business is entitled to charge what it believes its services are worth, and customers are equally entitled to decide those prices are unreasonable and go elsewhere. I have no issue paying a fair price for quality work. I do have an issue paying substantially more than reasonable alternatives. EVEN THEN: Your mechanical team lacks integrity and consistently misdiagnoses or fails to fix the actual problem. I also find it noteworthy that your public Yelp response differs from the direct text response you sent me.

Even with all that, Cyrus stuck to his original quote and never tried to charge us more, which we really appreciated. Jaime and Jesus handled the installation of the air handler, ductwork, and heat pump. They worked hard, were very respectful of our home, kept things clean, and honestly were much quieter doing the work than I expected considering all the cutting and installation involved. They also worked hard to finish ahead of the timeline they originally gave us. Inspection passed with no issues, and now we've been using the AC for months with zero problems. Getting hit with the news that my less-than 8k miles-old brake system was not recalled but put on a TPS and would require an entire brake swap has got to be the WORSE answer to receive when you came in to fix a small squeak. Devonte sensed this, he understood what needed to be done, and could both feel and see my frustration for something out of my control. Instead of telling me it is what it is, too bad so sad, and/or them's the breaks, he asked for my keys and trust. 15 minutes later, he came out and said that I'm good to go. He worked with the team on a fix and it cost me ZERO dollars (I probably owe them for taking the amount of water bottles I did). I've been driving up and down LA with zero squeak and full confidence. Shoutout to Devonte for going above and beyond what he needed to do for a distraught (but loyal) customer.

They did a great job and on time as promised. I also had to get 3 new tires, one I had to get replaced last year since it had a puncture and wasn't able to patch. So a few weeks later I took my car back to Lexology to get 3 new tires. When I got the struts replaced, they told me if I get the tires from them, they won't charge me for alignment. Great. Got the new tires. You would think they'd check the tire pressure on the one tire that wasn't replaced when they installed the 3 new tires. Nope they didn't. The one tire was 3 PSI less than the three new tires.

I found Dutch Treat & connected with the owner, Robert, to continue the maintenance of my manager's beloved car. Although it's a bit farther than Torrance, the shop is conveniently near the 405 Fwy. & appointments are easier to come by. Robert is a geek motorhead & Porsche lover! Although I want to get straight to the point, he sometimes shares tidbits about Porsche or the car that's in repair. His prices are reasonable in comparison to other auto shops, particularly for a Porsche specialist, & goes above & beyond to service the Porsche. For example, the DMV needed a smog check to renew the vehicle registration & the Porsche was due for a maintenance check. Robert connected with a business partner that has the required smog check system that can inspect older Porsches; after finishing his portion of the maintenance, he drove the Porsche over to complete the inspection (car passed), & added that billing to his invoice for efficiency. Now that's service! Dutch Treat is well-known in the area for its workmanship & integrity. After Robert retired (about 1-1/2 yrs. ago), he sold his business to Marlon, who is equally knowledgeable & passionate about cars to carry on Dutch Treat, offering the same honesty & values that Robert had the short couple of years that I worked with him. I will not bring my car here again and based on my experience, I question some of these reviews…read more Second time here, and both times, it's apparent that they do not properly evaluate the vehicle, or even look at it thoroughly or may be even at all. First time there, the car sat there for hours, then they called to say that there was no issue and charged me for replacing the brake lights ,which at first I was told there would be no charge by the guy that checked me in. Upon check out, I had a dismissive and rude guy, I was not appreciative of his talking down. Second time there, they had the call for over 8 hours, no call, no updates, I had to call in to check on it only to be told there was no issue. I finally showed up to get my car. Prior to checking in, I looked everywhere for my car, outside, in the shop and saw nothing. I then went to check in, asked where is my car, they had no idea even what color my car was. I was told it was evaluated and driven multiple times. I was told my car was parked in another lot, about half of block away behind the Torrance Corps building. Car was unattended and mileage did not show that it has been driven much. My car broken down the next day, but remember, there was nothing wrong with it right? I'm appalled by this place.
