Service- well here's the rub, my special was great, but my wife ordered a custom made amulet, and spinach, mushrooms, bacon and no onion.... She mentioned to our waitress it had onions and barely any bacon in it, not complaining just mentioned it, to let the cook know. Now it's been my experience the waitress would apologize and offer some remedies... but no, her apology was half hearted and no mention of .. say, can we remake it or I can grab some extra bacon for you... no not what I would expect from the Waffle Shop! We've be been here many times, never an issue... well I hope it's just a newbie mistake and not signs of what's to come! We still like it here, it's still best breakfast in town... I'm happy to report--they were right! I ordered the Spicy Linguica Skillet, loaded with linguica, jalapeños, cheese, and potatoes. I asked for my eggs sunny-side up and placed right on top. It was delicious! The spice level was just right, everything was perfectly prepared, and I worked my way around the plate with some excellent sourdough toast and jelly. Since it was our first visit, I felt obligated to conduct a little additional "research," so I added a pancake on the side. Perfect. Light, fluffy, and cooked just right. My wife went the more traditional route with scrambled eggs and bacon, along with biscuits and gravy. She's not one to venture too far outside the breakfast box--which works out very well for me. When she left an extra biscuit and some gravy hanging out on the side of her plate, I did what any good husband would do: I made sure it didn't go to waste. The portions were generous, and I left completely satisfied. Thanks to my wife, I also managed to sample a pretty good portion of the breakfast menu on our first visit! The atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was excellent. Our waitress, Kimi, had a smile on her face the entire time, checked on us regularly, and genuinely added to the experience. Customer service is a must in today's competitive restaurant world, and Kimi passed with high marks. There were a bunch of weekly specials listed on a white board but I also saw a regular menu item that looked great. I chose the chicken, mushroom and avocado sandwich. It was 7.75 and came with a 3oz. side of potato salad and pickle. They have a cold water dispenser to serve yourself water, if you forgot yours in the car like I did, or you just prefer water over soft drinks. There are MANY other options, burgers, breakfast items, ice cream and baked goods. It's obviously a place of regulars as I saw while I sat there and ate. All the folks who came in after me were called by name. I'm so happy to have found a little cafe that has such a great vibe. I felt like I was eating a sandwich that I had prepared for myself at home! Great homemade taste and comfortable setting. Looks like I have to come back and give there breakfast burrito a try.
