I belong to the Lincoln Business Networking Group and we meet at The Waffle Shop every Friday morning. It is a perfect spot for large meetings as they have an upstairs area that accommodates a lot of people and gives a little privacy for a meeting. Every week we have 15-20 people here and the restaurant is on top of it. Our meeting is 1 hour long exactly, and they are able to take our orders, deliver our food, and clear the tables and we still have time before our hour is up. Kelly usually takes care of us and is absolutely amazing. She remembers what everyone's favorite meals are, is extremely personable, and her service is top notch. We thought she would be the only one that could handle a group our size, but last week she was out and we had the pleasure of being served by Jennifer, and she did not disappoint. She stepped in and took care of us like she had been waiting on us for months. Very impressive! I have not heard any complaint about the food from our group either. Everyone orders something different and everyone is always pleased. Portions are substantial, flavors are great, and everything is cooked to perfection. My personal favorites are the California Benedict, the Chicken and Waffles, and the Chorizo Scramble. The ownership and staff are amazing and I highly recommend this place. Wow, all good things come to an end but I wouldn't say this is quite the end maybe the beginning of the end let's say lol... Food -good! Ambiance-great! Service- well here's the rub, my special was great, but my wife ordered a custom made amulet, and spinach, mushrooms, bacon and no onion.... She mentioned to our waitress it had onions and barely any bacon in it, not complaining just mentioned it, to let the cook know. Now it's been my experience the waitress would apologize and offer some remedies... but no, her apology was half hearted and no mention of .. say, can we remake it or I can grab some extra bacon for you... no not what I would expect from the Waffle Shop! We've be been here many times, never an issue... well I hope it's just a newbie mistake and not signs of what's to come! We still like it here, it's still best breakfast in town... I'm lowering one star just to grab management attention, maybe a bit of training or pep talk to the staff, I'm not mentioning the waitress, no need for that... yet lol. My husband and I have been to waffle shop at least 20 times. Usually we don't have too much to complain about at all! Today, I am going to leave my negative thoughts! Jennifer, I believe was our waitress, we were there today around 11:50 am Thursday. My husband ordered the tostada special. The price was good and it was made to his liking, on the other hand, I was craving a bacon omelette when the waitress came to take our orders I kind of went back-and-forth on which omelette I wanted because I wanted spinach, cheese mushrooms, and of course, bacon.! My favorite! I'm going to refer to my omelette as a hash brown omelette with spinach. It had little tiny tidbits of bacon, and I asked for no onions and it had onions in it. I had a lot of spinach one of the cheaper items make more of a profit on when used in an omelette, but I would say over half was hashbrowns. I don't hate onions, but I preferred to not have onions in my omelette today, so I could enjoy the bacon flavor. I asked for bacon, spinach, mushrooms, cheese, and of course hashbrowns had to come with it in the omelette , when the waitress came over to our table about 1/3 of the way through my omelette, mentioned to her that I really felt like there wasn't much bacon at all, and there were onions in it and she said oh, well I wrote down no onions for the cook so basically she blamed it on the cook , why there was probably so little bacon and onions were in it, but at this point, I felt like it was up to her to at least try to make it good, at least offer. Trust me we don't want a free meal, but it would've been nice if she would've said would you like it remade or would you like us to bring you some bacon on a plate so I could put it in my omelette she said nothing she didn't offer coffee until the end of the meal either to my husband. anyway I decided on a $40 bill that we were only gonna tip her five dollars! when she came to pick up some of our plates, one of the knives fell off of the plate and hit my husband's cup of coffee and spilled and splattered all over the floor and onto my feet. I had sandals on. We don't have good hearing, but I never heard her say I'm sorry or oh my goodness all I heard her say was oops and we just sat there. Sort of flabbergast at her nonchalant attitude about it. I'm writing this review hoping the owner will notice it because usually your waitresses are nice and pretty helpful but maybe this girl needs to be talked to. Oh,the ambience is always nice. Maybe She's been there too long or she's looking for another job I am not sure I'm not the judge of her, but I just wanted to let you know about my experience, but I can't rate you guys too low, because generally, we love your food or we wouldn't return. I actually had hope for a nice breakfast, but this time it fell short. The place is always pleasant, historically interesting and this time decorated for the 4th of July, although there were a few US flags hanging upside down in garland. First, the service was excellent, professional, attentive and friendly. Absolutely top notch. The kitchen, however, had some missteps and my meal ended up being at best, so-so. Meh. Looking over the extensive menu the varierty of breakfast options is broad with many enticing choices. This time I went for something I typically wouldn't get, yet sounded good- Ricotta Toast. It comes with steamed spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms and eggs (I ordered sunny side up), plus a side. I ordered Country Potatoes as the side. I also had a choice of toast and went with sourdough. The meal came in a timely manner but immediately I noticed the spinach, tomatoes and mushrooms were barely warm. They smothered the toast beneath it. The ricotta on the toast beneath was fine but as I dug half way through it there were no eggs! I caught the server to ask and when she looked at the plate she bolted into the kitchen. Several minutes later two eggs, over easy, were delivered to the table. OK, but best with it together when first delivered. Also, the Country Potatoes were undercooked, hard and crunchy. My dining partner had poached eggs on a waffle with the same potatoes and enjoyed it all. The portions, as usual, were large. OK, a bit disappointed but sometimes things happen. I'm giving the restaurant a five star rating because it has been a great place for a very good breakfast. The food is always delicious. I had a little mishap with my hash browns but the waitress was so helpful and brought me out fruit instead when I asked for it. The service is always awesome. I love the atmosphere and the architecture of the place. There's plenty of seating and a small wait because it gets its regulars. It's definitely a "home cooked" meal without cooking at home. 1st of all, Food of my daughter and wife was on Pointe!!! Very good on their pancakes and waffles. Service was good. Our server was very accommodating and caring for my order especially on Father's Day. The ambience was perfect. But I gave a 3 start to the lack of knowledge of the cooks. Ordered Medium steak and eggs at first and then got well done. Then the server acknowledged my order and agreed that my steak wasn't medium , so she returned with a medium rare which the pink in the middle was not medium and was COLD ....WHAT KIND OF COOKS DOES THIS. So had to leave a 3 star cause I was very upset and disappointed for my father's day breakfast. Will I come back??? The waffles are delicious along with their breakfast sausages! The ambiance is charming and cozy. But having dry biscuits and gravy, undercooked hash browns, and mediocre service knock the experience down a little. The weekly special that peaked my interest was the raspberries and cream waffle. (Review from daughter) My partner and I enjoyed this spot. While we did not get the waffle, our dishes were still delicious. It's the first time I've had chilaquiles and it was amazing. At first I was reluctant to have feta cheese on it (because I prefer cotija cheese) but it was still delicious. Both cheeses are good. The cilantro also added a nice fresh flavor. As for the eggs, I didn't finish them. I love sunny side up eggs but I felt like the two different flavors didn't go together. I STILL ENJOYED MY MEAL. My partner enjoyed his omelette as well. I'm not too sure what was in his omelette (though the menu does describe what's inside). It was very packed, even on a Thursday. The wait wasn't that long, maybe 5-15 minutes. We visited for the first time this morning and had breakfast. It was really good with large serving. I had the ham and egg special and my wife had the waffle special each for $10.95. First time visit. A few people were waiting outside, but there were empty tables when we checked in (perhaps short of help?). The lady who checked us in, wrote down the wrong name. While we waited for a table, a name was called that no one answered to and the group that was waiting when we arrived had just been seated. So,.. I asked about our table. She checked the list,.. we were not on the list (hence wrong name called). We could have sat there all morning waiting. I ordered the avocado toast with a small side hollandaise sauce. First off, this is a far more upscale interior than shows from the front! Brick accents coupled with a black ceiling, black ceiling fans, and an open air second story give it a luxe-country vibe. Not a plastic rooster in sight! Even the bathrooms are nice. Hospitality is at a premium here. We came in on a moderately busy Sunday, no wait and quickly seated in a gorgeous window seat. Drinks came instantly, a sample of a delicious waffle topping given by the owner, Rami, without asking (when we looked at the specials), order taken promptly, and food came out right away piping hot. Our server Alyssa was phenomenal. They gave me a half order of my Benedict because I'm small and hate to waste. Will not be returning!! Food is average for a breakfast house, management is RUDE!!! We were actually asked to leave! We were seated well after 8:00am and at 9:05 we were asked to leave due to it being a busy day. I am 60 yrs old and have eaten in restaurants in every state in the US and in other countries and have NEVER, NEVER, been asked to leave a restaurant. We decided to go to brunch on a Wednesday morning .We finally got to try this place out . This location is were Awful Annie's used to be at. It's a very cute historic building. It has cute rustic decor . It's pretty spacious inside they have two clean bathrooms and if you go up a few stairs, there's another area with more seating . When I was there, there was a party of 12 meeting up there, which seems perfect since it's a little bit more private. As soon as we walked in, everyone was so friendly and inviting. We had the pleasure to meet Kelly . She's is so funny and we love her energy and her vibe.! Sierra and Jess are super friendly and attentive they kept checking to make sure we had everything we needed. Rami which I believe is the business owner came out when we were almost done with our food to see how everything was and if we enjoyed our food ! That was such a nice touch super friendly guy ! They made us fell very welcome and more like family we really enjoyed our breakfast ! There was an incident where a elderly woman came in the restaurant she was lost the staff immediately took care of the lady made her feel safe .
