He was professional, knowledgeable, and knew exactly what my body needed. My only suggestion would be to offer slippers or water sandals for guests. Other than that, everything was excellent. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend booking with David!

I just tried to book what their site said was an open evening slot. The booking app is a circular nightmare that would nit accept my debit card. I tried to call in several times and was met with a loop of a voicemail repeating that their staff was busy ( not like, instrumental music that would have been fine). I gave up and called Albany Hot Tubs on Solano Ave. (where I'd been before, also as a gift). I got a live person immediately. They had an earlier appointment available that I took. Their machine was glitching at the desk, but the clerk (Emma) said they would send an invoice confirmation in a few minutes. They did it and I booked the appointment. Though my experience was fine at Piedmont, I should note that I was not surprised by the reviews describing standoffishness, rudeness and general passive aggressive racism ( and specifically anti-Black ) experiences customers have had there . Piedmont Ave. Disappointed but surprised/not surprised. ‍‍‍‍

I visited Woodhouse Spa Walnut Creek on Sunday, July 19, with a friend. I had a facial, and my…read morefriend had a massage that I had purchased as a birthday gift using an online gift card that I purchased in October of last year. Both the facial and the massage were enjoyable, and we were happy with the services we received. Unfortunately, the experience at the front desk completely overshadowed our visit. When we checked out, my friend was told she owed the full amount for her massage. I explained that I had purchased the online gift card in October of last year. The front desk immediately asked for the confirmation email. I explained that the purchase had been made months earlier, I no longer had the email readily available, and that when I called before our appointment, I had been told we did not need to bring the confirmation because they would be able to look it up. Instead of trying to help, I was told that wasn't how they handled gift cards and that they had no way to look it up. Rather than feeling supported, the interaction became unnecessarily uncomfortable and felt more like I was being questioned than assisted. The staff came across as rude, disorganized, and unprofessional, showing very little interest in finding a solution. Ironically, after insisting they couldn't look up the gift card, they eventually searched under my name, even though the gift card was for my friend, and found it. Then, after processing everything, they initially told my friend she still owed $100. When I said I would pay it, they responded, "Oh, sorry, correction, you actually have a $100 credit." That level of confusion only reinforced how disorganized the checkout process was. When it came time to pay for my facial, I was then asked, "Would you like to just do the customary 20%?" Rather than presenting tipping options or allowing me to decide for myself, the question felt presumptive and added to the uncomfortable experience. To top it all off, immediately after everything we had just gone through, we were asked if we'd like to rebook another massage. After the experience we had at the front desk, it felt completely tone deaf. There was no genuine apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience. The treatments themselves were good, but customer service is an important part of the overall spa experience. Unfortunately, the disorganized, dismissive, and unprofessional interactions at the front desk overshadowed what should have been a relaxing day. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because the quality of customer service did not reflect the quality of the spa treatments.

The staff was so kind and helped explain all the facilities and gave suggestions on which to use at what time. The treatment itself was heavenly. And all the facilities were so clean! They have a bunch of different hair/skin products to use after your treatment and they have tea, a coffee machine, water and snacks in case you're in need of some sustenance during your visit. They even have an ATM near the entrance if you forget cash for your tip, or you can Venmo/Zelle. I will 100% be coming back!

Facilities were clean and lovely, they have the spas and massage rooms on the first floor and a clay and salt room on the second floor. There is a vanity room where there are plenty of snacks and water/coffee/tea for you to rehydrate yourself with. I believe you get an hour before and after your appointment to enjoy all the amenities. And if you get the scrub highly recommend coming early and softening up your skin in the spas beforehand. I got the silverbell 1 hour message, which comes with the scrub, massage, and also a hair wash. The lady was super gentle and checked in on me whether that was the water temperature, scrub pressure or the massage strength. I thought with everything going on in this it might feel too rushed but time felt well budgeted.

I gave it a 2nd chance because I was invited by a work friend for a foot massage. I thought - how…read morecan you mess up a foot massage? Right??? Well, I was so wrong! If I could give it a 0 star I would. Both experiences at KUME have been 100% terrible. I keep getting assigned unskilled massage people. They must have SOME skilled people, I assume, based on some of the reviews; however, they have just as many UNTRAINED people working there. They just seem to poke and push and punch without any skill in how to actually massage. No work on the muscles and ligaments or anything. Just an absolutely terrible experience. I mean - a nail salon could do a better foot massage. This place is too expensive to just be a "nail salon" massage. I could just go to a nail salon! Also - I noticed that there was an EXTREME difference between my massage and the ones that were happening across the room (it was a foot massage room with multiple chairs). So I could see that their massages were very different than mine. My friends seemed to have a masseuse who seemed to know what they were doing. In addition, this was supposed to be a FOOT massage, but most of the time was not even spent on the feet! Only about 10 minutes of the hour massage was on the feet. It was calf, shoulder (but only poking at me - not a real massage), etc. To make it worse, their hands were rough, so it felt like sandpaper on my skin, which was icky. Also, same as last time, the person did not speak ANY English, so I could not communicate anything (i.e. if the massage was too hard or if I needed adjustments). This experience was so bad that if I was not there with a friend, I would have gotten up and walked out. And for an $80 foot massage!! That's ridiculous. I could have gotten a pedicure for the same massage at half the price. I will definitely never come here again - even if it's with someone who wants to go (I'll wait at a coffee shop instead). They need to actually TRAIN their Massage therapists!!!! This should not be random to get a skilled person or not. And if they are student masseuses, that should be disclosed, which it is not. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of competition in the area - that seems to me to be the only explanation that they just don't do better!
